Problem-m8400f Desktop vid card

PC = HP Pavilion Media Center m8400f desktop PC

OS = Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit

I am trying to install a new video card.

The card is an EVGA Geforce GTX570.

The card does not have due to the motherboard sata connections.

Is there any type of adapter or riser that would allow the card sit around 1/4 inch wider on the motherboard?

('L'-shaped connectors do not work because the sata & are too close together)

If this is not the case, is it possible to make the GTX570 enters this PC?

I have already updated the power of 600w.

Motherboard below. Thanks in advance.

A follow-up to the top and scarf-

The 570HD still not sitting properly because of cable on the motherboard sata.

Only, it was blocked by a single cable instead of three. I was able to buy a sata cable at right angles that solved this problem. I had to do the second sata connection down a bit to adapt the card, but not so much that it was a problem.

I suggest that you include information on the need for a cable right angle sata (18 in.) when advising a client who is trying to put a 570HD on a HP Pavilion Media Center m8400f PC video card.

Cards, it works very well, and I thank you for your help and for suggesting this video card. Even with the slight complications, it was worth to be upgraded to this card

  • Not changed map of video on HP m8400f desktop; Cannot install the Driver

Card video NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT to my HP Pavilion m8400f Desktop computer has failed. replace the defective video card with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 video card.  Display is back, but now the computer is SUPER SLOW.  I can't get access to enough RAM to install the CD for the driver for the new card!  Tried Safe Mode - could not install the software driver on the CD.  Simple operations (such as opening Windows Explorer) is about 3 minutes.  The HP Startup Repair utility takes forever.  I want to run Norton Antivirus, but the computer is so SLOW that it takes an hour to see my desktop icons.  I put my old card back video; the graphics have been shredded as 'The Matrix' and startup performance was just as slow.  Any suggestions (in addition to buying a new computer)?  Can't the basic functions of Mode safe without the video card?

(Sigh) Given that the CPU of the computer of my 6 year old works 100% (even with only a race application), I decided to cut my losses and buy a new HP Envy 700-327c desktop PC.  In the meantime, I do backups of files from my old PC to an external hard drive; What was once taking 10 minutes is literally take 10 DAYS because the CPU is running so SLOW.  Thanks for your help.

  • Having a problem getting 2 video cards to work

Windows is having a problem getting 2 video cards to work in a desktop HP dc5800 SFF computer.  The first video card is a nVIDIA GeForce MX 4000 Jaton and the second video card is a VisionTek X 1300.  The two cards are dual monitor.  We strive to give the user 3 screens, but this configuration should be able to output of 4 monitors, if none of the material is in conflict with each other.  The integrated graphical subsystem integrated into the motherboard is disabled whenever a new video card is installed, due to the design of the Intel video chipset.  Any ideas what to try?

    Hi Myextraidentity,

You cannot combine NVIDIA and ATI graphics cards. This configuration is not possible

You can consult with NVIDIA or ATI to learn more about what is needed to support 3 + monitors

  • Problems with the graphics card on Satellite Pro M10

Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I'm not a pro with computers or anything... the problem I have with my laptop is similar to the one in this thread:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=26849&TSTART=0

I spent half the day trying to figure out if my graphics card is broken, but since I'm a newbie with this stuff, I'm still not sure. :(

This is what makes my M10. I'm trying to describe the symptoms that detailed as possible, but I'm German, so please excuse my lack of words in some places.

    1. when I turn it on, the laptop goes through the BIOS and give me scrambled BACK-screens and a slightly Warped windows loading bar. There is the consistency check, marked by black bars connecting the top of the screen down. After the audit, the screen goes black and nothing happens, or the screen of will just show me consistency check, do nothing. Be that as it may, I have to turn off the power (I think) and restart the laptop.

    2. sometimes the laptop goes through the BIOS checking & conistency with a few graphical shortcomings. The office is anything but shredded when he gets to the screen of the Windows user. The static method is if serious I don't even know where is the button turn off.

    3. sometimes Notepad starts very well, with the only graphic problem being the windows loading bar. When I go into Windows, the laptop pulls me a blue screen and stops immediately.

    4. sometimes, the laptop works fine for about an hour or two. After I rebooted, I have the same problems listed above, once again.

    5. If I open Device Manager and disable the graphics card, the laptop works very well. I have to lower the screen resolution and colors, but I can watch videos on youtube and everything. Finally, the laptop gets very hot on the bottom and the screen goes crazy again, so I turn the damn thing off.

I don't know what that means! If my graphics card is broken, the screen should be all static, ALL the time? Not just sometimes more,... could sometimes less be some sort of communication problem between the graphics card and cpu? Please help me with this!

Another thing I'm not sure about, even after reading the thread I linked above - can I replace the graphics card or not? Everyone said something different in the other thread...

    see you soon,
    Cozmo

Edit: maybe I will add when I got the screen scrambled and everything. I installed Civilization 4, just to check if my satellite pro can handle, and everything went well for a while. The screen then haywire and I rebuilt my whole system, but display problems did not disappear completely. They were gone for almost a month, and now they are 'back' or something.

    Hi Cozmo

I'm not a technician but here nobody needs technical knowledge to see that there certainly is hardware problem. I also believe that this problem occurs due to the graphics card. Graphics card is part of the motherboard and it cannot be traded separately. The entire motherboard must be exchanged.

In my opinion, you have two options: either contact the authorized service provider in your country and speak with them, what can be done, or try to get the motherboard used. If you are lucky, you can find it on eBay. I already bought several hardware components for my old Satellite P10 on eBay.

Sorry Cozmo but I do not see any other logical solution for you.

    Good luck!

    2. What is the size of the video card?

Family of express chipset Intel 82915 g/gv/910 gl is not a video card. It is built into the processor.

Check the video card, follow these steps:

    a. click Start, click run.

    b. type devmgmt.msc and press to enter.

  • Problems with Toshiba Flash cards

I have problems with toshiba flash Cards on my desk and stay there.  It says flash cards, not reponding, but I can't get rid of it.  This utility is really necessary to make my computer work correctly?  How can I get it out of my office?

    Hi Bklawinsky,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         The other device USB (Universal Serial Bus) have recognized?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: You will need to check the updated version of the utility of flash cards on the site of Toshiba, if found, install and check if the problem persists.

Method 2: If you can't find any update of the utility so I would suggest that you uninstall using programs and features, reinstall it later using the Toshiba website, according to your model number of the computer to download the utility below.

  • Problems with the video card and sound card on Toshiba model #PSLCOU - 02701G

I bought a new laptop in 2009, and it is a Toshiba, model #PSLCOU - 02701G. After about three months the video card and the sound began to spoil. It's what he does, I can go on U-tube or any web site that has a video to watch like CNN news, etc. What it does is it starts to play and the video and the sound is good and he paused for a few seconds and starts again, new breaks and pauses, starts, pauses, starts. He does it all the time, and I was wondering if you all have any idea whats going on? Help? Help?

It really sucks when you try to watch the news. Also, I put a CD or DVD into the laptop and it works perfectly. I can watch any DVD or listen to a GREAT Cd.

How is your network connection?  Sometimes, the system needs to create a cache to store the downloaded information and if the download is not pass quickly enough the system will freeze while wiaiting for download to catch up - not a problem with your sound cards and video, but with the speed of Connection on the website or on the network itself (or your network equipment).  This looks like the case if the DVD and the CD's works fine.  Check your internet connection and try to download the video pages to see if the problem is with all the downloads, or only those on a site.  You can contact your ISP and have them help check you connection and settings and the modem for problems or changes, you can do to improve things. Sometimes happens to me as well in the internet connection runs slower than normal and there is nothing that I can do but wait to accelerate - and it's frustrating.

You can get in trouble with your device drivers.  Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get the drivers (and you need you to do all you have time to do, but at least the network card, sound card and video card - they can help way beyond simply solve this problem), get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
