Problem of AirPort Extreme with AirPort Express network expansion

I have a dual-band Airport Extreme 802.11n that I bought in 2012 which is currently my home wireless network. I am trying to extend the network with a new AirPort Express with the AirPort 6.3.6 utility running OS 10.11 on an iMac. The Airport Express appears in the option other Wi - Fi devices. When I select it, AirPort utility tries to connect and then I get this message "an unexpected error has occurred. Try again. "Try again does not lead to a different result, and I can't seem to find useful information in the documents support or conversations. Any suggestions? Thank you!

It should be easy enough to operate the express, but you must tell us all the info.

Configure the Express in the same room as the extreme.

Using wireless to expand? Then you simply plug power in the Express... and it should pretty much automatically connect to the extreme.

If you want to extend through ethernet, you should connect the Express in the extreme and make sure that the configuration of the airport utility selects extend by wire.

If the Mac does not work you have the iphone or ipad and use Airport utility for iOS... it tends to be more reliable.

Still no luck does your Mac have port ethernet... in this case, you can plug it into the computer with ethernet and try again... more wireless implementation looks like sawing off the branch to that which you are sitting.

  • Problems of Airport Express

Hi, can someone tell me if a former airport express type (model A1088) will work or set up with Yosemite. I tried to use Airport utility to configure it but can't get the Airport utility to find. I tried with the direct BT hub ethernet cable and base station Airport extreme with no effect. It is not compatible or is the defective unit, it flashes just constantly sometimes orange or green. Tried soft reset and hard or factory reset.

I hope someone can help. At soon Mick 571

Unfortunately, Apple has dropped support for older models of airport as the Airport Express (A1084) and AirPort Extreme (A1034) when they introduced the Lion (10.7.x) operating system 3-4 years ago.

If you... or you can borrow for a few minutes... a Mac equipped with an older operating system such as Leopard (10.5.x) or Snow Leopard (10.6.x), you can administer the old AirPort Express this way.  A PC with AirPort Utility for Windows installed on the device would probably work as well.

There are also "hacks" on the Internet that supposedly will install the old airport on a more recent Mac software, but you will need to use an application from an unknown author... who will offer no support in case of problems... .and also be willing to change some of the settings of the default security on your Mac to install the software. We do not recommend that you consider something like that, but it's your decision.

  • New Airport Express network

I have Verizon FiOS. FiOS offers two different bands for their signal: the regular jumping between 2.4 GHz and the 5G band, which, as implied, aired in 5 GHz, which is faster and has a signal stronger.

The 5G service came online towards the end, that's why I has not set up the place initially to enjoy, but now there is a critical mass of FiOS and other WiFi networks that I have, as my wireless keeps dropping out. I want to spend my airports to the 5G network, but I don't see where I have that option. To complicate matters, I can 'see' 5G without airports (for example directly from Verizon router) so I can connect to it but at the moment, it is the only device connected and I would like to expand the network so that it works perfectly when I start to put other devices online.

    How can I do?

What exact model of the AirPort Express you have? Only the 2nd gen (currently last) Express has simultaneous dual-band capability. This means that the 5 GHz band radio is already automatically enabled in these base stations. However, with the 1st model gen, you can have either the 2.4 or 5 GHz radio operational at a time.

If you have one of the units earlier, then you would change the radio using AirPort Utility as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility, select the base station, and then select 'change '.
    • Select the wireless tab, click Options wireless...
    • Change the Radio Mode to one of the 5 GHz options.
    • Click on save and then click Update.
    • Allow the base station restart.

    Cox Internet

The combination Netgear modem/router. Best a Cox sold.

Old version of the Airport Express, which is connected to the router via an ethernet cable.

A variety of Mac, iPad, iPhones.

I used my Express to listen to music through Airplay outside on my patio, and for a few years its has worked well.

    Not been well.

Light is green and it and it seems to be ok. But I can't see the Express one of my devices.

I did all the obvious things like the modem reset, reconfigure the Express to factory settings, etc.

The best I can do, it's that if I reset (or unplug just for a minute or two) I can see the Express for about 3-5 minutes then it goes away and no longer appears on any device.

It drives me crazy and I am very frustrated!

The first thought that comes to mind is that the average lifetime of an AirPort Express is about 3 years old.

As a general rule, food is the element that starts to head South, and in this case, the Express struggled to maintain a connection. Not much you can do about it other that replace the Terminal AirPort Express.

Personally, I don't think that I've never had an Express go 3 years before it had to be replaced, but some users have better luck.

Fortunately, Apple has a 14 day no questions asked return policy, so if you decide to try a new Express and it does not solve the problem, you can return the product for a full refund.

  • Solve a problem by getting an Airport Extreme to join my network.

    Greetings,

I have a WiFi network, consisting of a router TimeMachine (primary Base Station), the AirPort Extreme Base Station and expansion of the Airport Express network

I receive notification messages for these devices utility AirPort (Enter Password) - probably updates lately.  I do not know the passwords for these devices because I've had them so long and after initial installation and many updates of OS X I couldn't find entries for them in Keychain Access.

Today, I made an attempt to reset the Airport Extreme to try and go through the installation routine and have the opportunity to create a new password and save it.  First of all, I did a soft reset and then tried a hard reset.  The results were the same for either - one error as follows...  Airport Extreme fits factory currently.  It is plugged in and running with a light orange blinking.  She appears in the WiFi menu as a new Airport base station.  Selecting menu launches Airport utility and a dialog box drop-down connection.  The dialog box States "collecting information on your network - preparation, Joining Airport Extreme and finally"an unexpected error has occurred, try again"there is a very brief message (.5sec) before the last error - try again.»  In my view, that it is said 'Extreme Base Station on your network'.  This could mean that because the TimeMachine works as the main base station, the Airport Extreme Base cannot be joined so that I can Setup/modify it.

Ultimately I'd like to get the issue resolved for all three devices password, but I'm a little gushy now after this attempt

Someone has an idea how to proceed.

    Thanks Dave

There are several things going on, but you can fix pretty quickly is the password. It is a piece of information that you should really have - now and for the future. You can reset your password by sticking the end of a paper clip in the back of the airport for more than ten seconds. You will see the configuration on the Airport utility screen. Do not forget your password in the future.  At the end of this operation, you can see a firmware view - to take care of that.

Once your airport is reset, and the password is updated and updates, you can see if there are any problems - if any. If there are additional questions, you can include a photo of the Airport utility screen.

  • Airport express - is no longer the network extension

For six years, took the extreme of the airport, with two Airport express network expanded throughout the House provision.

All are online and update - 7.6.7 is later / current version.

Airport express kitchen spent all-day orange with the warning - "unable to extend the... wireless network." "flashing

I tried to restart - power off/power on, then a reboot via Airport utility.

Then I completely reset the device to factory settings and reconfigured back to expand network through the Airport on Mac utility.

I still have the same problem!

Tried to contact Apple support, telephone support is obviously expired but still difficult to write, call, or buy an extended support, I am stuck in a loop with: "we're sorry. We are unable to respond to your request at this time. Please try again or come back later.15696390-8f63-4da2-816e-f58a820d350d'

Would appreciate some advice from the community? Could avoid resetting the Airport Extreme that I didn't have to go to the length of the reconfiguration of the entire home network and services... !

    Thanks in advance.

Powering two devices of the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express

    Wait a minute

Turn on the AirPort Extreme and run a full minute

Then, turn on the kitchen Express and run a full minute

    Check the network

If no luck, repeat the same procedure as above, but perform a hard reset on the Express before attempting to set up again

If still no luck, the age of the Express can come into play. The average useful life of the Express is about 3-4 years.

Try the 'other' Express in the kitchen. If it works, then you know that your "old" kitchen Express must be replaced.

  • Can not update the settings on the Airport Express

Currently have a facility - two extremes and an Express network.  I for the life of me can't update the Express settings. I always get an error message but I can update the settings on the two extremes very well. I can make changes to the Express with my Iphone but I can't with my Imac.  I want to activate the function of 5 GHz but I can't do that via my Iphone - with the desktop app I think.  Can someone help me?

Let's first check and make sure that on which Airport Express version you have.

Your version of the AirPort Express is there only 1 or 2 Ethernet ports?

The Express to connect to your network and extend it wireless?  Alternatively, the Express connects to one of the extremes airport using a wired Ethernet cable connection.

Then, I would be not too concerned of not being able to 'see' the Express of the iMac as long as you can access the settings of the iPhone. You can make almost any change using the iPhone you can use a Mac.

  • Airport Express wifi speed

    Hello

I have a 200 Mbps TWC service. I use TWC provided modem Arris 1070a (NAT = bridge) and have an Airport Express connected via Ethernet to my wireless router.

When I connect my macbook pro directly to the modem arris via ethernet, I get over 200 Mbps download speed. However, when I use my wifi 5 GHz of my Airport express network, I'm only syncing on 30mbps.

I understand that the Express has a 10/100 Ethernet port, but I should at least get 80 or 90 Mbps on wifi.

Any ideas that I can do to get a speed more fast wifi other than trying to the extreme?

    Thank you

    Vishal200

However, when I use my wifi 5 GHz of my Airport express network, I'm only syncing on 30mbps.

What is the speed of the wireless link? Option, click the wifi icon in the top menu. This will give you lots of useful information...

You must be related to the 300mbps... If this isn't the case, it will go just not fast.

PROBLEM SENDING FILE PDF WITH OUTLOOK EXPRESS.

Here's what's happening.  I created a PDF file in adobe 4 pages, I can reach the PDF file to a mail sent in Outlook Express, but I see where he treats of it says part 1, part 2, part 3, all the way to part 7, when there are only four pages.  The recipient gets 7 different emails and cannot open an any of them.    I have a yahoo email and I can send the PDF file there.   Just frustrating.  I use Windows XP.  Not familiar with computers but I would like someone to tell me the problem.  It has worked before and I don't know what happened to create the question.  Thank you.

  • can a wifi with an airport extreme network be extended with two Airport express wireless?

I have developed successfully the range of my wifi network by connecting an older brick of Airport express to a new airport extreme. Unfortunately, there is a room more than I would like to achieve, so I'm trying to add a second (newer) to bring in this room to get full coverage. When I try to set up in the airport utility it hits an "unexpected error" message continually or breaks down the network. should I change in the settings? the express environment be on something else (like a relay?) in order to allow the new express to join the network? I have reset the factory default final express and tried to let the wizard implemented to extend my existing network.

I understand that I will sacrifice speed, but there is no way to connect them at the present time. worst case, I should better results if I break through the floor and the extreme of wire in the Middle express?

    Thank you

    David

Sorry, but Apple will allow you only to wireless "extend" the network once, not two.

In other words, just about any device that "extends" the network must connect directly to the 'main' router... not to another router that is already expanding the network.

Another way of saying the same thing... both your need for extensions at about the same distance from the 'main' router and two extensions should be closer to the main router they are to each other.

You want to continue trying to implement the 2nd AirPort Express Terminal?

"I should better results if I break through the floor and the extreme of wire in the Middle express?

Yes, that would allow you to do what you want, assuming that the 'remote' Express can pick up a good signal of the Middle Express wireless.

  • I have an airport extreme and 2 airport expresses. my printer sees 3 networks alone vs. How to fix this?

I have a relatively high House and have an airport extreme on one floor and 2 Airport Express - each on different floors.  My printer (Epson EF3640) considered the 3 networks all with the same name.  It seem to be printing problems if the computer is not on the same "network" as the printer. Any thoughts?  How airports that appear as a single network to the printer?

Are all your base stations interconnected by Ethernet or wireless AirPort? Ideally for them all to be on the 'same' network you will want them connected by Ethernet and configured for a mobile network.

Let us know if you want to continue this method and we can help you to help you with the installation.

  • Problem with LAN Express airport

    Hello

I recently bought an Apple AirPort Express router and I have several problems using the Ethernet with the most active airport. The thing is with my old router, I could have been connected to the ethernet cable, while at the same time connected with a LAN cable to my Macbook (end of 2015). The old router would have generated a wifi connection, but at the same time, would have enabled internet connection by cable to my Macbook without the active WiFi. People could use WiFi at home, but the Macbook would be connected to the internet by cable (lan cable connected to the router)

My question is how to turn on a cable connection on my Macbook using the AirPort Express LAN cable, while at the same time, keep WiFi active. Currently, I have the ethernet cable connected to the airport and cable Lan also connected to the airport and the Macbook, but the internet will not work unless the WiFi is active. I would like to turn off the WiFi on the Macbook and always have an internet connection through the LAN cable that is connected between the AirPort Express device and Macbook.

    Thank you

My question is how to turn on a cable connection on my Macbook using the AirPort Express LAN cable, while at the same time, keep WiFi active.

Is the Terminal AirPort Express the only router in the current configuration of your network? No matter, what is the brand and model of the modem Internet you have the Express directly connected by Ethernet? ... or is the Express connected by Wi - Fi to the modem?

  • Extend an AirPort Extreme with a Terminal AirPort Express increasing the number of users?

I have an AirPort Extreme 2 years ago. Based on the technical page of the product, the router can theoretically connect up to 50 users. That's more than enough if used at home.

However, I intend to deploy a network of airports in our new office building and we have more or less 50 employees. Because everyone has a smartphone that it needs to connect, I try to at least 100 users/devices. Which includes all the network printers. Obviously, an AirPort Extreme is not enough. Another thing, I have considered is that the office building is 2 floors and all the walls are made of concrete, which means the distribution of the wifi signals is affected.

I thought to extend an AirPort extreme with 3 more AirPort Expressare (mobile network). It's 2 APs on each floor. That should solve the problem of distribution wifi. I'm not sure the first problem - 100 or more devices into a single network.

So extending an AirPort Extreme with 3 more AirPort Expressare (making a roaming network with 4 access points) increases the number of potential users of 50 to 200 (assuming that each access point can connect to 50 users)?

In theory, Yes.  But you must take this specification of 50 users with a grain of salt.  Once there are 20-25 users on the same airport access point, things will slow down significantly. The system will operate as of cold molasses with up to 50 users on the same access point.

Quite frankly, in a business application, you need a software router. Apple routers are designed for home use.

Another way to say the same thing, is that Apple does not routers Apple at the Apple Store. Who could tell more than anything whatsoever about the suitability of the products in your proposed network.

My advice would be to get an IT professional in and review your needs... before you move further.
