Airport express - is no longer the network extension

For six years, took the extreme of the airport, with two Airport express network expanded throughout the House provision.

All are online and update - 7.6.7 is later / current version.

Airport express kitchen spent all-day orange with the warning - "unable to extend the... wireless network." "flashing

I tried to restart - power off/power on, then a reboot via Airport utility.

Then I completely reset the device to factory settings and reconfigured back to expand network through the Airport on Mac utility.

I still have the same problem!

Tried to contact Apple support, telephone support is obviously expired but still difficult to write, call, or buy an extended support, I am stuck in a loop with: "we're sorry. We are unable to respond to your request at this time. Please try again or come back later.15696390-8f63-4da2-816e-f58a820d350d'

Would appreciate some advice from the community? Could avoid resetting the Airport Extreme that I didn't have to go to the length of the reconfiguration of the entire home network and services... !

Thanks in advance.

Powering two devices of the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express

Wait a minute

Turn on the AirPort Extreme and run a full minute

Then, turn on the kitchen Express and run a full minute

Check the network

If no luck, repeat the same procedure as above, but perform a hard reset on the Express before attempting to set up again

If still no luck, the age of the Express can come into play. The average useful life of the Express is about 3-4 years.

Try the 'other' Express in the kitchen. If it works, then you know that your "old" kitchen Express must be replaced.

  • put Airport Express before or after the switch?

Believing that it is preferable to wire as much of my LAN House as possible, I ran ethernet in all the House of my office (where desktop computer, printer and modem/router DSL reside) in my living room (Roku, Apple TV, etc. where).  The living room is also where wireless laptops, iPads, generally used smartphones.   So I'll have a (Netgear GS205) switch in the living room and an Airport Express station.  It doesn't matter if readers (of the office) ethernet switch, which results in turn the Roku, ATV and Airport Express?  Or better to attach the ethernet to EI and continue the switch port LAN on EI?

Any reason, that I should consider to put the modem/router in the lounge and the switch in the Office?

Netgear GS205 is a Gigabit Ethernet switch, so it will load 1 000 Mbit/s connections.  The AirPort Express has only 100 Mbit/s Ethernet ports, so if you plug the Ethernet cable from the Office to the AirPort Express, and then connect the switch to the LAN port on the Express, the ability of the switch 1 000 Mbit speed <-->/ s will move to 100 Mbit / s for all connected devices.

All wireless on the Express will also drop up to 100 Mbps.  So, you might think that you have a 300 Mbps wireless connection, but this connection will drop up to 100 Mbit/s, through the Express.

Not too exciting, but not a killer in the face if all devices that need to connect to the switch are only 100 Mbps devices compatible.

It would be better wiring practice to connect the Ethernet feed from the office to the Gigabit Ethernet switch and then connect devices to the switch. Here, I guess that the Ethernet feed office is actually Gigabit Ethernet to 1 000 Mbit/s.  1 000 Mbps or Gigabit Ethernet ports should use any modem/router of good quality.

If the modem/router that feeds the switch is only 100 Mbit/s capable, then you can connect things like what you want since the maximum speed on the network will never be above 100 Mbps in any case... and the Gigabit Ethernet switch will work on only 10% of its capacity.

  • I use Airport extreme and cable Airport Express to extend my wireless network.

My new laptop running windows 7 connects to the extreme, no problem. When I go to my store it will connect to the express. I have a laptop more XP and it links the two places without problem. I also have an Ipad3 which connects without a problem.

    Hello

    Setting up a wireless network

  • AirPort Extreme can disappear from the network

I have an airport Time Capsule 802.11ac 3 TB, implemented as my router, connected to a cable modem Comcast.  I also three units AirPort Extreme 802.11ac connected via an Ethernet cable and configure in Bridge mode.  The settings were all made with Apple AirPort Utility, using the default settings.  All devices are new, and have the latest version of the (7.7.7) package.

My problem is that one of the SSA keeps disappearing from the network.  The AP utility shows all devices, but unity of the 'room' is still "missing in your network.  When I restart the device by unplugging the, the unit seems to work fine for a little while.

Because the problem occurs on a unit, I think not that it is a question of ISP or OS.

Has anyone else had a problem like this, and understand you?

    It is not uncommon.

There is a real problem with apple DNS...

    What modem do you use?

Actual spending brand and model please... It is probably not related, but it is useful to know the complete network configuration.

Question I would like to change.

    1. your names are too long and contain spaces.

Use any short names, without spaces and pure alphanumeric characters. Names must be less than 10 characters... all names... both network name.

See Pondini for questions that arise with more long names... and that was before Apple changed network SMB.

    http://pondini.org/TM/C9.html

    2. the WAN port on the AC model TC and AE are not reliable.

In bridge, what do you do better move the connection to one of the LAN ports...!

    3. you have an unreliable ethernet cord or if it is installed in the wall a bad Jack which is down to... This happens especially in that self installed ethernet... and even the ordinary electrician has problems... sometimes wrongly wired a pair of broken. You should test all ethernet correctly and make sure have full gigabit connections.

    4. use static IP via both a dhcp on the TC and AE reservation jumpered on the internet tab. Least IP moves the less work THAT DNS must do to stay.

If you have still questions after.

  • Airport Express which runs from the BT Home Hub

    Hello

I have an iMac and a Mac who need backup, and I also want to extend the signal wi - fi upstairs in my house.

I bought a time capsule from the airport, the main Airport utility and tried to implement.

Can I GRT at the stage where it broadcasts a Wi - Fi connection name and I can connect to it OK but it does not connect to the internet.  I'm clicked on edit and go to the WiFi settings and set it to the BRIDGE and put in the name of wifi BT HH and password but still nothing.

I googled this and there seems to be some discussions that say it last only another apple product and some that say you can use it with HH BT wireless?

Can someone give me an asnswer difinitive please and tell me how (if possible) to implement wireless to expand the wifi signbal.

    Thank you very much

Function of "extend a wireless network" Apple owns... .it will only extend wireless signal from another router from Apple.

At one time... over 3 years ago... it was possible to configure time Capsule to connect to a router from another manufacturer. It is a parameter to "join a wireless network.  But he could not "extend" the network when he does this.

The "Join" option has been removed since more than 3 years, because it was highly reliable.

If you want to use the time Capsule with the Home Hub, Time Capsule must connect to the Home Hub using wired Ethernet wired, permanent.  Then, if you wanted to "extend" the signal Time Capsule wireless wireless, you might add another router from Apple, such as an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express.

The bottom line here... If you want wireless "extend" an Apple product, you will need two routers Apple to do.

  • I have an airport extreme and 2 airport expresses. my printer sees 3 networks alone vs. How to fix this?

I have a relatively high House and have an airport extreme on one floor and 2 Airport Express - each on different floors.  My printer (Epson EF3640) considered the 3 networks all with the same name.  It seem to be printing problems if the computer is not on the same "network" as the printer. Any thoughts?  How airports that appear as a single network to the printer?

Are all your base stations interconnected by Ethernet or wireless AirPort? Ideally for them all to be on the 'same' network you will want them connected by Ethernet and configured for a mobile network.

  • Airport Express is no longer connect to Airport Extreme

OK, it's kinda a complicated question.  For starters, I will describe my current setup:

Cable modem Motorola-> Airport Express #1-->(Ethernet over powerline)-> Airport Extreme-> multiple Airport Express for AirPlay

Airport Extreme and Airport Express #1 are put in place to create wireless networks, with different names for 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz frequencies.  I love this configuration because it allows me to play music simultaneously on the four different speakers hooked to my Airport Express units while offering good coverage in my apartment together.  It worked perfectly until two days ago when two of the Airport Express units lost their connection and are now flashing yellow.  I tried to restart the Airport Express and Airport Extreme, but nothing helped.  When I launch iStumbler, it looks like Airport Express #1 and Airport Extreme both create networks of right, but who is the Airport Extreme 802. 11A instead of 802.11n - don't know if it of a problem or not.  I suspect that the Airport Extreme is not working properly because when my wireless connection when you use my iPad near the Airport Extreme, that used to be solid as a rock, is now uneven intermittently.

Any ideas on how I can solve this?  Thank you very much!

It sounds like your extreme is the very old Gen1 or Gen2 model without dual band.

Back to the factory and start over. It's the best way to solve problems... reboot is worth a trial, but in the end, you sometimes just have to redo the installation.

  • iPhone 6, connecting to the Airport Express wifi, blocking all the other wifi equipment.

    Hello

My home wifi network, it's an Airport Express station. I then several other devices that connect to it - two AppleTV, two MacBooks, an iPad and iPhone two 6.

I recently had to replace one of the iPhone 6 and every time the iPhone connects to wifi of the Airport Express - the connection made the deadlock on other devices. This forces me to turn off the phone's wifi and now I do the connections of the hanging of the other devices start to work.

The new iPhone replacement to restore a backup to iCloud. I also then reset the network than the iPhone settings when I first noticed this wifi connection problem, but the problem persists.

Thoughts on how to fix this?

My solution, after two devices, and visits to the Apple Store Genius bar was to do a full reset of the device and do not restore from a backup.

For the appliance swaps were probably not necessary had we done the software reset and restore from scratch first.

Geniuses and I were not able to find the cause of the problem.

  • Setup Airport Express to Vista error "the system administrator has made policy that prevents this facility."

I try to install AirPort Express (5.5.1.17) laptop, Vista (ver 6.0 SP 2) but the software refused to install because "the system administrator has made policy that prevents this facility." However, I am the only user of that pc and logged as administrator and there is no multiple user accounts. How can I continue the installation process?

Problem is solved. The solution was to make the disabled user account control.

After replacing our domain administrator's computer, it can no longer add/delete permissions on our network drives and folders. I have the same problem as well (I also have domain administrator permissions) and our CAD Manager (which also has domain administrator permissions).

All computers of TI are in our own ORGANIZATIONAL unit in active directory. Domain Admins have all permissions on all folders on the network.

    Any ideas?

Yes it works. The first version had some problems, but it worked for a while now.

  • With the help of a second domestic airport to extend the network

I have an Airport Extreme (MD031LL/A), connected to a modem via an ethernet cable and it works perfectly as a WiFi router for my house. I have also an Airport Express (MC414LL/A) I want to use as a second router to extend the reach of the Wifi signal, which works when connected via a cable to the Airport Extreme (continuous green light), but when I unplug the ethernet cable the Airport Express falls out of the network (Amber led flashing). I've updated the router time firmwear and repowered and reset everything, including 'forget' the devices via the Airport utility which I got on my MacBook Pro, but not luck. Books Online says the network should see the second router, waiting with flashing light amber, but it does not work.

    Any suggestions?

Please note, it is not ideal for me running extended ethernet cable, I would like to as the relay to be wireless.

I am assuming that you are using a Mac running a current or recent operating system... or... you use the installer on an iPhone or an iPad, right?

If you want the AirPort Express to extend wireless signal in AirPort Extreme... then you would not use an Ethernet cable to the configuration... Since the installer detects the Ethernet connection and configure the AirPort Express Terminal accordingly.

However, if you are able to locate the Airport Express where you need more coverage... and... an Ethernet cable from the Express back to AirPort Extreme... which must remain connected permanently... This would be the way to go.  The reason is that you will lose about half of the potential speed on the entire network when you try to Express to extend the network using a wireless connection.

But, if you can not run the cable, you can not.  If you need a little more advice on installation, after return to confirm how the Express connect to AirPort Extreme and let us know what operating system is installed on the device you will use to configure the Express.

  • How can I set Up Airport Express with an existing router/modem from the ISP

I have a wireless modem/router ISP and I want to get the ability to use Air Print using a non-Airprint but the USB printer. I suggest you to connect the printer to the Airport Express A1392 Epson) via a USB port to enable the AirPrint features.  However, I guess the Airport Express must be an ethernet to the modem/router ISP connection and then use the Epxress airport more convenient than my wireless router.

    Issues related to the:

    1. do I need to turn off the function the ISP router's wireless when I plugged as stated above? So I wait.

    2. as the Airport Express only has one ethernet port I assume that I can connect my other ethernet connections using a hub 4 ports connected to the Airport Express Terminal.  It will be always possible to use other ports ethernet on the modem/router ISP as well?

    Doug

I have a wireless modem/router ISP and I want to get the ability to use Air Print using a non-Airprint but the USB printer.

You may have received incorrect information, because a non-AirPrint on the USB port on an AirPort Express Terminal... or any other router from Apple also printer... do not make the AirPrint-compatible printer.

You want to continue nevertheless to check that this is true?

The AirPort Express can connect to the network wireless router using a wireless connection... or... it can connect to one of the router's Ethernet ports using a wired Ethernet connection.

Wired connections are always preferable wireless if possible for your Express.  Turn off the wireless router is not necessary if you want to connect to the Express using an Ethernet connection.

  • can anyone help with an Airport Express set to existing wifi if it is not recognized in utility?  I fired several times by default.

I have Airport express 802.11n and can not make it appear in Airport utility.

Which version of AirPort Utility?   If you are not sure, open AirPort Utility and click on the menu of AirPort Utility in the upper left of the screen. Then click on the utility AirPort post back with the version number that you see there.

Is the Terminal AirPort Express 802.11n have an Ethernet port, or both?

You try to get the AirPort Express to connect to the network using a Wi - Fi?... or... the AirPort Express will connect using wired Ethernet wired, permanent access to the existing wireless router?
