Problem of decommissioning of 11204 11203 grid Infrastructure
Hi gurus,
I have a 2 RAC running on CentOS 64 bit 5.911203 node. In order to update to 11204, first I upgraded GI to 11204, and now I am trying to downgrade the back, just to have a restoration plan in place, before also moving the DB. My downgrade did not ($OLD_GRID_HOME/bin/crsctl start crs does nothing), so I'll try again because I think that I made a mistake when executing $NEW_GRID_HOME/crs/install/rootcrs.pl (I had executed it without the lastnode - on both nodes, and then I ran again in the node of the OCR) (, this time using the parameter - lastnode).
Everything is fine when I am running on node 2 (node no - OCR):

But when I run it on node 1, in aid of lastnode (because that is the crux of the OCR), I get an error:

Not a version valid grid Infrastructure. The version is /u01/app/11.2.0/grid_2/crs/install/crsconfig_lib.pm line 9882.
Unfortunately, this error will return no results in google or MOS! ("Invalid... "), and this file (crsconfig_lib.pm) does not seem to help too, because in this line, I see only this:

I also tried it with the - force parameter, but doesn't seem to change anything.

Its at this point, I normally abandon on the downgrade and then completely remove GI and start from a new installation of the lower version. If you need information on the withdrawal of the GI, let me know.

Thanks for your time.
I commented the line on which the IP 127.0.0.1 is shown in/etc/hosts on all nodes.
file/etc/hosts is same nodes.when I do a ping to the public ip address, it is show the IP local hots i'e 127.0.0.1 not the real that I craved in the file/etc/hosts.
After that I comment that line of hole and he ping is resolved.

I got an error grid Infrastructure installation Oracle 11 GR 2 (11.2.0.4) for a stand-alone server on Oracle Linux 7

CPU: 1 outlet | 2 carrots
OS packages for the needs of the DB: all except pdksh. (installed in ksh). Jut ignored.
Oracle software version: 11 GR 2 (11.2.0.4) Oracle grid Infrastructure
Installation type: SServer tandalone.
The installation user: uid = 501 (oracle)
installation groups: gid = 501 (oinstall) groups: oinstall, dba, oper, asmadmin, asmdba, asmoper.
Put ASM implementation with Linux e/s Standard (No. ASMLib).
The virtual machine has 3 disks attached.
Features: / dev/sdb, / dev/sdc, / dev/sdd

Using RAW could be the problem. I'm not sure someone who has used Virtual Box with raw disks for their RAC testbed. Most people use ASM. I've seen a few people use NFS as well. You'll also want to stay away raw because that which is frowned upon in 11.2. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e41962/whatsnew.htm#RILIN931
Under the Options deprecated for Oracle RAC 11 g Release 2:
"Installation of files on raw devices is no longer an option available during installation. You must use a shared file system, or using Oracle Automatic Storage Management. »

OK I solved the problem. The error I was getting is misleading.
I did two things:
1. for the root user: "export PATH=$PATH:/u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid/OPatch".
2. thanks to the solution provided by 'Papp Balázs' in the post:
confuse OPatch error PSU 13919095 (July 2012)
I removed the location correct patch and re-issued the command like this:

I need some clarification on the installation of grid Infrastructure (RAC).
How the network (IPs) is the installer...
Public, private, VIP and SCAN
In my setup here is what I currently have, just an example:

When you use this configuration of network, I got the below error:

Note:
I have other servers configured like this, but don't use do not scan and they work; Although they are version 11.1.
My question is, having VIP on the same subnet public IP address with security problems, such as my network guy's doubt this.
I have proposed, he created the below:
17.0.0.35 linux1 - vip.domain.com linux1-vip
17.0.0.36 vip.domain.com - linux2 linux2-vip
Is this right according to install 11.2?

I am running seperaely conditions of ".". "/ runInstaller - executePrereqs '
then installed using ". / runInstaller - ignorePrereq", which ignores the check prerequisites.

I try to install the 11.2.0.2 RDBMS binary on 11.2.0.3.0 grid Infrastructure, the RDBMS installation I got the error below. Please let me know the correct procedure to ignore this problem and provide me with any id note MOS.

I'm getting an error [ins-41113] specified public and private interfaces are configured on the same subnet: 192.168.1.0 why it is a mistake because the Oracle e17212/typinst.htm Documentation says the following:
A unique name of Acess customer (SCAN) for the group, including the following features:
* Three IP; but I want to use only two static IP address, because I don't use DNS I use the file/etc/hosts.
* On the same subnet as all other public IP addresses, VIP, and SCAN processes.
Please advise because I was able to install the 11.2.0.2 grid Infrastructure using the same configuration with no problems. Now that I'm using Oracle 11.2.0.3 I encounter this problem.Levi,

I changed the subnet on each CCR node so that the public and the private sector have their own path to the distinctive network offering significant performance improvements.

ASM for grid Infrastructure upgrade failed with the INS 20802
Hello
I am updating an ASM 10 g to the grid infrastructure.
In fact, I have a DB running with ASM times on 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server.
And try to upgrade with 11 GR 2 grid Infrastructure.
Both ASM and DB instance stopped, and I have also try with the listener stops and even without earphone.
When I run the installer of the grid, he suggest me to do an upgrade of the Grid Infrastructure, it automatically detect the current ASM instance INS-40413 existing ASM insctance detected
Installation is OK but when you have to configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a stand-alone server, it stops with the Configuration of the Infrastructure of grid on the INS 20802 failed.

I have encountered this same problem when I install and upgrade at the same time.
I do this step:
1 delete the Instance Service + ASM using oradim
2. remove the CSSD, using "localconfig.bat", in my case not work... so I forced remove with the utility 'sc' to windows.
3. restart the server
4. Add the CSSD, using 'localconfig.bat '.
5 Add the ASM instance using "oradim.
6a started earpiece and ASM and all Disksgroups.So I performed installation and upgrade ASM and listeners arrived... the program YES care of everything.
When to remove a service in Windows env, you must restart the server to ensure good cleaning of all disabled services Oracle and/or disassembled elements always reside in memory.
The OracleOHservice is started and the check said that the service is online but a css check crsctl return failure CRS-4530 Communications communicating with the synchronization of Services Cluster demon.
Please post here alert.log and %GRID_HOME%\log\ ocssd.log

ASMCA need to Oracle Grid Infrastructure Configuration ASM - 11 GR 2 on SLES11

I try to install 11 GR 2 ASM on a new server SLES11. So far I have correctly installed the database software, but the bad now when it comes to install the grid Infrastructure.
Partitioning and stamping the discs as ASM disks worked fine, oracleasm listdisks give me my disknames as output.
So far so good - in the setup of the network infrastructure, I chose "install and configure the network for a stand-alone server infrastructure."
The installation worked, I executed the script root.sh without any problems - but ASMCA configuration failed with the following error:
NEWS: Read: error detection of Oracle Grid Infrastructure. ASMCA needs Oracle Grid Infrastructure Configuration ASM.
Unfortunately I couldn't find much about it on the internet - I'm very stuck here...
Any ideas?

There must be a variable set of environment that should not be there.
You can connect with your normal user (without the oraenv) and do a 'env' and provide your environment variables.I suppose that you have set a parameter of ORA_NLS or something similar, that should not be there.

HW/SW platform: Win 7 under a machine Virtualbox 3.2.10 with Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5 x86_64 2 prompt guests to support the DB instance in a RAC configuration two.
Here's the question:
During the installation of 11 GR 2 grid Infrastructure of zip file downloaded on a Virtualbox (Linux) guest host, the process stops with the error ' Invalid input size (expected 729772, but has 729794 bytes).» After several attempts of difficulty (see below), I get the same error that only he throws different byts sizes if it seems to fail at different points in the process of randomly. So far that all take great - HW/SW/network all the pre-reqs without error (took a piece of work to get there!).
I scoured Metalink, Google docs. Google shows a large number of cases where this sort of thing happened with different configs but no coherent solution is presented, nor caused already discussed. Based on my results, I tried several things but am now at a total loss for what to do. Here's what I spent the last two days, in order to work around the problem:
-a confirmed the value cksum and bytes are correct before decompression.
-installed and used a different download manager and pulled down a new copy of the file zip both my PC and directly on the Linux (PCS used in binary mode when copying the files in Win7 for Linux).
-downloaded a third party utility zip to try.
-reran the installation of many times (cleaned of all directories before each series)
-created a symbolic link to point to the utility unzip in/usr/bin rather than Oracle provides with the software in case that was the problem.
Anyone can shed light on this issue? This could be the cause of this rpoblem? Maybe someone has had experience of this type of fixing problem and can share what's the root casue.

I really need to make this work and suspect that maybe it's a bug, but I think that anyone he said now. Any help is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, I have the same problems with "Invalid size entered" during the installation of Oracle GI V11.2.0.2 (downloaded from Oracle Support!) and Oracle GI V11.2.0.1 (download delivery).
MD5 and sha1 after copy with scp in the guest OS aro OK license!
I use Virtualbox 3.2.12 and my host platform is windows 7 (64-bit) with 2 guest with Oracle Linux 5.5 systems.any idea,

I am trying to install the grid Infrastructure 11 g R2 in my 5.5 OEL in Oracle VM (with Virtual Guest Additions).
I have install all the disks in the ASM which is verified using the oracleasm listdisks.
I have the connection as root. I have to open a terminal
If I echo $DISPLAY$ su - oracle $ entering password here.... $ cd Desktop/grid/ $ ./runInstaller then.... I got this error Could not execute auto check for display colors using command /usr/openwin/bin/xdpyinfo. Check if the DISPLAY variable is set.
It shows only {noformat}: 0,0 {noformat}

I try to install DSO 11 GR 2 on RHEL5. I use VMWare Workstation.
I have already installed Oracle database and software infrastructure of grid on this machine. During the installation of network infrastructure, I chose only the software grid Infrastructure.
Once this succeeded, I'm trying to create instance ASM using the asmca.
About the discs, I use raw devices. I created a virtual disk that I have partitioned but have not formatted. Did this to create the raw device
[root@localhost sysconfig] # / bin / / dev/raw/raw1 gross/dev/sdb
/ dev/RAW/raw1: linked main 8, minor of 16
and added
ACTION == "add", KERNEL == "PSD", RUN += "/ bin/raw/dev/raw/raw1 %N".
at /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules
Then I tried to create the disc, but it failed. So I did the following steps to resolve this
[software root@dhcppc2] # /etc/init.d/oracleasm createdisk VOL1/dev/sdb
Disc marking 'VOL1' as an ASM drive: [FAILURE]
[oracle@oracle11gR2 grid] $ tail-f/var/log/oracleasm
Device "/ dev/sdb" is not a partition
To solve this problem
[root@localhost ~] # / usr/sbin/asmtool - C-l/dev/oracleasm - s/dev/sdb VOL1 n - force = yes
asmtool: device "/ dev/sdb" is not a partition
asmtool: continue anyway
I am now able to view the asmdisk to the listdisks option.
Have defined following environment variables before you run the asmca
[oracle@oracle11gR2 ~] $ export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/Grid

Any thoughts?If it is not clear what you are doing and how, or two things.
(1) if I remember correctly, the raw device support is he more RHEL5, OEL5 and 11.2 oracle db. You must use block devices, set up with the ASMLIb to use for ASM.(2) did the ASMCA successfully configured when you installed the grid Infrastructure?
I have a very strong hunch that your installation is not correct. I suggest that clear you all, then reboot.

I use EMC storage for the cluster.
I checked all permissions and they are fine, 'root' has access to all folders 'oracle' and vice versa. all the clatter of SSH works as well.
