Grid infrastructure to install 11 GR 2 - size of the invalid entry
HW/SW platform: Win 7 under a machine Virtualbox 3.2.10 with Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5 x86_64 2 prompt guests to support the DB instance in a RAC configuration two.Here's the question:
During the installation of 11 GR 2 grid Infrastructure of zip file downloaded on a Virtualbox (Linux) guest host, the process stops with the error ' Invalid input size (expected 729772, but has 729794 bytes).» After several attempts of difficulty (see below), I get the same error that only he throws different byts sizes if it seems to fail at different points in the process of randomly. So far that all take great - HW/SW/network all the pre-reqs without error (took a piece of work to get there!).
I scoured Metalink, Google docs. Google shows a large number of cases where this sort of thing happened with different configs but no coherent solution is presented, nor caused already discussed. Based on my results, I tried several things but am now at a total loss for what to do. Here's what I spent the last two days, in order to work around the problem:
-a confirmed the value cksum and bytes are correct before decompression.
-installed and used a different download manager and pulled down a new copy of the file zip both my PC and directly on the Linux (PCS used in binary mode when copying the files in Win7 for Linux).
-downloaded a third party utility zip to try.
-reran the installation of many times (cleaned of all directories before each series)
-created a symbolic link to point to the utility unzip in/usr/bin rather than Oracle provides with the software in case that was the problem.
Anyone can shed light on this issue? This could be the cause of this rpoblem? Maybe someone has had experience of this type of fixing problem and can share what's the root casue.
Here's what's installation log file (the last lines). It indicates the prcoess stopped at the first command of fastcopy...:

I really need to make this work and suspect that maybe it's a bug, but I think that anyone he said now. Any help is greatly appreciated. I will update the post tomorrow when I get a new copy of the download to another point of network access, but where this is not the problem I wanted to get this thing connected now to save time in case someone might know what is happening.
Thank you very much in advance...

to all,
Unfortunately, I have the same problems with "Invalid size entered" during the installation of Oracle GI V11.2.0.2 (downloaded from Oracle Support!) and Oracle GI V11.2.0.1 (download delivery).
MD5 and sha1 after copy with scp in the guest OS aro OK license!
I use Virtualbox 3.2.12 and my host platform is windows 7 (64-bit) with 2 guest with Oracle Linux 5.5 systems.
any idea,
Michael

I installed the extension commercial boo.ly on Firefox 8 (on a Mac). I decided that this was not what I wanted and removed using the Add-ons Manager. I was looking at the topic: config options (on another topic) and found out about half a dozen parameters pertaining to boo.ly I would like to remove. How?
To restore a preference setting to the default value or to remove an added preference, context-click (right-click) on the preference and select Reset.

How can I set the DSO AU to 8 MB during install/config grid Infrastructure?
Hello
How can I set the DSO AU to 8 MB during install/config grid Infrastructure? Storage installer screens do not have the ability to set a caliber of more big to ASM when creating initial DATA DG, just go with the value defaults to THE (1 MB). Our SAN provider did studies and for ASM a framework to THE 8 MB instead of the default 1 MB will give better performance. Is there a template that I can change preinstall so the installer will create the DG with a frame of 8 MB DATA?
Thank you
TomHello
You can not change it to the default diskgroup created during installation of GI.
Only option you have is to make an installation by default, create a new diskgroup and move all the files needed.
If you can read German see here for a tip on how to do it:http://www.Oracle.com/WebFolder/technetwork/de/community/dbadmin/tipps/asm_dg_change/index.html

Using RAW could be the problem. I'm not sure someone who has used Virtual Box with raw disks for their RAC testbed. Most people use ASM. I've seen a few people use NFS as well. You'll also want to stay away raw because that which is frowned upon in 11.2. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e41962/whatsnew.htm#RILIN931
Under the Options deprecated for Oracle RAC 11 g Release 2:
"Installation of files on raw devices is no longer an option available during installation. You must use a shared file system, or using Oracle Automatic Storage Management. »
Here's how to configure RAC on my laptop with Virtual Box: http://www.peasland.net/2015/04/23/oracle-rac-on-my-laptop-with-virtual-box/

I have two node RAC on linux 6.5. What is the best practice on decinding the size of this drive oct/vote?
Thank you
This blog entry, it explains a little bit:
https://blogs.Oracle.com/upgrade/entry/grid_infrastructure_management_repository_gimr
Notice that the ball 'average growth size' will give you how to calculate db IWM needs. As a general rule, unless you have a large number of nodes in the cluster, 10 GB should be enough.

Where should you install Oracle database and grid Infrastructure in order to comply with OFA?
I downloaded two files compressed to the Oracle database installation, and both zipped install files for the grid Infrastructure. The book I'm following for installation is said to use a directory of the database and a directory for the grid Infrastructure, but it does not explain where they should be located in OFA. Probably they should both close up somewhere in the same Base of Oracle (since all Oracle related on a single file system should go in the same basis, according to my understanding), but it is not clear where they need to be installed over the other. For example, the grid Infrastructure is a separate product that gets its own Oracle Home? Anyone can shed some light on this process?
Also, does it matter where the zipped files are uncompressed? For example, use one of these files after the installation process, or OFA only cares location after installation?

Yes, they go in separate oracle_home. This should be explained in the respective Setup Guide. This will be a CAR or a standalone ASM? I have
It does not matter where you unzip the installation files. They are only used for the installation.

11 GR 2 Grid Infrastructure install - with normal redundancy ASM disk group requires 3 disks?
HelloI want to install 11 GR 2 grid Infrastructure in a new environment in cluster - 2 nodes). I use the 11.2.0.4 GI Installer on Oracle Linux 6.5 x 86-64
However when it is in the installer of GI, it comes to choose the storage Option - I choose ASM disk groups.
Then change the path of discovery to pick up my candidate ASM disks.
I enter the disk group name SIR give Normal redundancy, choose 2 discs of candidate and then press < next > to Setup.
However, I gives me the message
[INS-30510] Insufficient number of ASM disks selected
The number of selected disks was inadequate for the level of redundancy selected
For a disk group with redundancy level "Normal" disks at least "3" are recommended
I always thought that Redunancy Normal required only 2 discs and high redundancy requires 3 disks?
No idea what is gpoing?
Thank you

Grid Infrastructure 11.2 Install - network
Hello
I need some clarification on the installation of grid Infrastructure (RAC).
How the network (IPs) is the installer...
Public, private, VIP and SCAN
In my setup here is what I currently have, just an example:
# Public
17.0.0.32 linux1.domain.com linux1
17.0.0.34 linux2.domain.com linux2
# Private
17.0.2.32 linux1 - priv.domain.com linux1-priv
17.0.2.34 linux2 - priv.domain.com linux2.priv
# VIP
17.0.4.32 linux1 - vip.domain.com linux1-vip
17.0.4.34 vip.domain.com - linux2 linux2-vip
# SCAN
17.0.0.125 linux-scan
When you use this configuration of network, I got the below error:
[INS-40931] The following nodes have interface that are configured on a
different subnet from the subnet SCAN:
[linux1 - vip.domain.com, linux2 - vip.domain.com].
Note:
I have other servers configured like this, but don't use do not scan and they work; Although they are version 11.1.
My question is, having VIP on the same subnet public IP address with security problems, such as my network guy's doubt this.
I have proposed, he created the below:
17.0.0.35 linux1 - vip.domain.com linux1-vip
17.0.0.36 vip.domain.com - linux2 linux2-vip
Is this right according to install 11.2?
Thank you.
Hello
As I said that I asked network make VIP on the same subnet as the IP SCAN and the Public.
That's all.
Now, it looks like this:
17.0.0.35 linux1 - vip.domain.com linux1-vip
17.0.0.36 linux2 - linux2-vip vip.domain.com
Thank you.

By using advanced-> Installation
No GNS->
I'm getting an error [ins-41113] specified public and private interfaces are configured on the same subnet: 192.168.1.0 why it is a mistake because the Oracle e17212/typinst.htm Documentation says the following:

* Three IP; but I want to use only two static IP address, because I don't use DNS I use the file/etc/hosts.
* On the same subnet as all other public IP addresses, VIP, and SCAN processes.
Please advise because I was able to install the 11.2.0.2 grid Infrastructure using the same configuration with no problems. Now that I'm using Oracle 11.2.0.3 I encounter this problem.Levi,
Thank you.
I changed the subnet on each CCR node so that the public and the private sector have their own path to the distinctive network offering significant performance improvements.

Problem of decommissioning of 11204 11203 grid Infrastructure
Hi gurus,
I have a 2 RAC running on CentOS 64 bit 5.911203 node. In order to update to 11204, first I upgraded GI to 11204, and now I am trying to downgrade the back, just to have a restoration plan in place, before also moving the DB. My downgrade did not ($OLD_GRID_HOME/bin/crsctl start crs does nothing), so I'll try again because I think that I made a mistake when executing $NEW_GRID_HOME/crs/install/rootcrs.pl (I had executed it without the lastnode - on both nodes, and then I ran again in the node of the OCR) (, this time using the parameter - lastnode).
Everything is fine when I am running on node 2 (node no - OCR):
# /u01/app/11.2.0/grid_2/perl/bin/perl /u01/app/11.2.0/grid_2/crs/install/rootcrs.pl-downgrade - oldcrshome /u01/app/11.2.0/grid-version 11.2.0.3.0

CRS-2793: stop of the resources managed by Oracle high availability Services on "bat-cvracdb02" made
CRS-4133: Oracle high availability Services was arrested.
Downgraded successfully Oracle Clusterware stack on this node
But when I run it on node 1, in aid of lastnode (because that is the crux of the OCR), I get an error:
# /u01/app/11.2.0/grid_2/perl/bin/perl /u01/app/11.2.0/grid_2/crs/install/rootcrs.pl-downgrade lastnode - oldcrshome - /u01/app/11.2.0/grid-version 11.2.0.3.0
The file of configuration settings using: /u01/app/11.2.0/grid_2/crs/install/crsconfig_params
Not a version valid grid Infrastructure. The version is /u01/app/11.2.0/grid_2/crs/install/crsconfig_lib.pm line 9882.
Unfortunately, this error will return no results in google or MOS! ("Invalid... "), and this file (crsconfig_lib.pm) does not seem to help too, because in this line, I see only this:
validity of version #check
If (scalar (@ver)! = 5) {}
Die ("not a grid Infrastructure valid version. The resulting version is @ver");
}
trace ("version active CRS got: '.comes ('. ', @ver) '");
return @ver;
I also tried it with the - force parameter, but doesn't seem to change anything.
Any help with this downgrade will be highly appreciated.
Its at this point, I normally abandon on the downgrade and then completely remove GI and start from a new installation of the lower version. If you need information on the withdrawal of the GI, let me know.
See you soon,.

ORA-12547 TNS LOST during the 12 c dbca on grid infrastructure.
Hi all
In my test environment, I installed the 12.1.0.1 9 VMware and REDHAT 6.4grid infrastructure. After a successful installation of the grid infrastructure and database binary when I try to create the database with dbca, show me ORA-12547 TNS LOST.
Installation is 2 node grid infrastucture ASM on shared disk. Using binary grid and oracle grid and database users respectively.
I searched forum and METALINK also, I got a part the documents below.
1. doc ID 1069517.1 : it says to check the permissions on the files binary oracle as below. I thought it was ok.
- rwsr-s - x 1 184286251 9 August 16:25 /home/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2/db/bin/oracle asmadmin oracle
2 many docs suggested to check libaio-*. rpm. I found that libaio x86_64 RPM is installed but libaio i686 rpms were missing. I installed them also.
But still, I get the error.
Please suggest.
Kind regards
Ashutosh Khare
After the installation of i686 libaio RPM, I also installed each package contained in the document.
After the installation of the packages reissue the binary grid with document below.
How to re-bind the Oracle Grid Infrastructure independent (reboot) Installation or Installation Oracle Grid Infrastructure RAC/Cluster (11.2 or 12 c). (Doc ID 1536057.1)
After the restoration of the links of the binaries of the grid, I relinked binaries and oracle, but dbca database did not work then also. Then I uninstalled the binary oracle and reinstalled.
The dbca run fine now... Happiness after frustrating 24 hrs.
