Problem of graphics card on Satellite P20 552 & Qosmio G10

Hallo,

I have two 17-inch monitors computers laptop Toshiba as desktop replacement: 1 x Satellite P20 552 & 1 x Qosmio G10.
Both are dead graphics card problem.
The conclusion of my research on the WEB, it's the nVidia FX Go5700 card seems to be the weak point of these laptops.

On the Satellite Map dies slowly: during startup Toshiba logo disappeared but WinXP logo was very good load, then WinXP loaded with the screen not refreshing and the problem of synchronization, etc..
The Qosmio died suddenly: activities on the hard drive I guess load WinXP, but black screen (internal and external)!

I know that, unlike the desktop computer, the graphics processor is not a separate entity; It is built into the motherboard. My questions are:

(1) who should be blamed, Toshiba or Nvidia?
(2) how to prevent premature rupture of the card/motherboard?
(3) the card/motherboard could be repaired?

Hallo

I have red Satellite P20 304 and it still works well. Maybe you can offer this story to someone else, but I can say that Satellite P20 is great for laptop. I like it. Old, but still has an attractive design.
If you have no luck I can understand it but to talk in general and write about weakness is for me nothing more than absurd.

Nice questions here especially one. :)
1 - to blame someone will help any. Try to get the replacement and get it working again.
2. There is nothing you can do. All you can do is to take care of the use of the laptop and do not overheat.
3. as far as I know that something like this is not possible. In this case the motherboard will be replaced.

What you can do is to check eBay from time to time. You may be lucky and you can buy used motherboard for a good price and exchange it.

  • satellite p20 552: graphics issue

Toshiba satellite p20 552 (again, out of the box)

When the 32-bit value (color) the cursor placed blue around her (in a 2 x 2 cm square) when vertical stripes on a white surface (e.g. in Solution Explorer).
This behavior goes away when the 16-bit value.

The graphics card is a GeForce FX Go5700.
Does anyone know this problem or to answer this?
    Thank you.

Moreover, when the pc goes into sleep mode (power or management when the lcd screen is closed) and when trying to restart, it didn't swithch on the LCD screen, but there is some activity on the disk and the fan works. After some time it stops. To restart, a windows error message.

    HI khadija.

you wrote your p20's new ad out of the box, then you use the operating system preinstalled Toshiba, not you?

You can try to reinstall the graphics driver (Toshiba Tools & Utilities CD or you go in https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com - Driver download and choose your machine). Compare the two driver versions ad install the newest one!

    What resolution do you use?

Your secod problem can be solved if you check your settings in the Toshiba Power Saver. Perhaps, you set its default value. If this does not resolve the problem, you must reinstall the energy saver!

Tip: You can also use the Mode shows up. This mode stops the laptop and the power is off. At the next startup mode will point load of a hard disk image and you can work! It is faster that normal startup, and all power is off in Hibernation mode.

    To bye chris

OK Hi again, you help me with my problem with graphics card yesterday I install the driver for my laptop and I can play games, but I I look for tools of diagnosis and is in writing which is r5 graphics card which is built on my laptop and I have A7 graphical please help amd a8 6410 win 7 32-bit

    Hi @zumzo ,

I understand that you have installed the driver and it works fine.  When you checked the diagnostics you became confused because it says graphic R5 but you R7.

According to the specifications of your laptop you have AMD Quad - Core A8 - 6410 APU with graphics Radeon R5 (2 GHz, 2 MB cache).

Here is a link to the 17-f002sm HP Pavilion Notebook product specifications to confirm this information. I hope that this eliminates any confusion.

  • BSOD - black screen of death to Satellite P20 552

    Hello

I have this laptop since 2005.

Today, after put the laptop to sleep, I picked up, and then after the system restored Windows, the screen started going black and back to normal, once again, then I noticed some artifacts on the screen, then black again, then normal, then artifacts, etc. This continued for about 2 minutes, after which I delivered to zero by pressing and holding down the power button.

When I turned on the laptop again, I got the dreaded BSOD, black version. Symptoms:

    -Black screen (blue BSOD)
    -No logo TOSHIBA
    -No test POST
-No visible inscription on the screen
-No HARD drive activity (HDD seems it does not work)
-CDROM seems to work, but cannot start with the XP CD or Bootmed Rescue CD. CD ROM glad to read the disc and then idling.

    Tried so far:

    1. with the help of the P20-552 on my Toshiba Satellite 1950 801 PSU. Works.
2 begin the Satellite P20 552 of the battery of the device. Power supply is removed. Same results. (BSOD etc.).
    3. remove the battery and start satellite P20 552, with its own power supply. Same results. (BSOD etc.).
4 remove the battery and start Satellite P20 552 upward with a PSU of Toshiba Satellite 1950 801. Same results. (BSOD etc.).
    5. remove all devices, the baterry and CDROM drive and hold down the power button / stop for 1 minute, then try to start. Same results. (BSOD etc.).
    6. start-up of exploitation and hold (key insert of your choice here). Same results.

I am an advanced PC user. I own 3 different PC, 2 Toshiba laptops and a desktop PC with a Gigabyte MOBO and processor Intel QX 9650 (Extreme Yorkfield) that I assembled from scratch. My Toshiba Satellite 1950 801 worked tirelessly and flawlessly for, uh, almost ten years now.

It seems to me that this issue is a matter of 'sudden death' MOBO. I thought to open the laptop and remove the CMOS battery, because how Satellite P20 552 lacks a "hard reset" button

What do you think guys? Some tips before you apply the Russian system on the laptop P20-552?

    Thanks in advance.

    Leon

    Hello

I don t think that remove the CMOS battery would be useful in this case
You could remove one of the memory modules and could test each module in each of the slots.
This could be useful in case one of these modules or the slots would be defective.

You said that there is no Toshiba start screen and no message (power on self-test) perceptible property, this means that a motherboard or a part on the motherboard could be defective, but the black screen with artifacts may be the result of a GPU malfunction.

    What do you think?

  • Satellite P20-552: A second HDD can be added

A second hard drive can be added to this laptop? What is the largest hard drive that will support this laptop?

    Hello

You are right. Satellite P20-552 supports the feature Select bay (2 x modular Bay).
Usually the 2.5 HARD disk i/o are supported but if you want to use the Bay select a particular disc case HARD is necessary.

  • Problems with the graphics card on Satellite Pro M10

Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I'm not a pro with computers or anything... the problem I have with my laptop is similar to the one in this thread:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=26849&TSTART=0

I spent half the day trying to figure out if my graphics card is broken, but since I'm a newbie with this stuff, I'm still not sure. :(

This is what makes my M10. I'm trying to describe the symptoms that detailed as possible, but I'm German, so please excuse my lack of words in some places.

    1. when I turn it on, the laptop goes through the BIOS and give me scrambled BACK-screens and a slightly Warped windows loading bar. There is the consistency check, marked by black bars connecting the top of the screen down. After the audit, the screen goes black and nothing happens, or the screen of will just show me consistency check, do nothing. Be that as it may, I have to turn off the power (I think) and restart the laptop.

    2. sometimes the laptop goes through the BIOS checking & conistency with a few graphical shortcomings. The office is anything but shredded when he gets to the screen of the Windows user. The static method is if serious I don't even know where is the button turn off.

    3. sometimes Notepad starts very well, with the only graphic problem being the windows loading bar. When I go into Windows, the laptop pulls me a blue screen and stops immediately.

    4. sometimes, the laptop works fine for about an hour or two. After I rebooted, I have the same problems listed above, once again.

    5. If I open Device Manager and disable the graphics card, the laptop works very well. I have to lower the screen resolution and colors, but I can watch videos on youtube and everything. Finally, the laptop gets very hot on the bottom and the screen goes crazy again, so I turn the damn thing off.

I don't know what that means! If my graphics card is broken, the screen should be all static, ALL the time? Not just sometimes more,... could sometimes less be some sort of communication problem between the graphics card and cpu? Please help me with this!

Another thing I'm not sure about, even after reading the thread I linked above - can I replace the graphics card or not? Everyone said something different in the other thread...

    see you soon,
    Cozmo

Edit: maybe I will add when I got the screen scrambled and everything. I installed Civilization 4, just to check if my satellite pro can handle, and everything went well for a while. The screen then haywire and I rebuilt my whole system, but display problems did not disappear completely. They were gone for almost a month, and now they are 'back' or something.

    Hi Cozmo

I'm not a technician but here nobody needs technical knowledge to see that there certainly is hardware problem. I also believe that this problem occurs due to the graphics card. Graphics card is part of the motherboard and it cannot be traded separately. The entire motherboard must be exchanged.

In my opinion, you have two options: either contact the authorized service provider in your country and speak with them, what can be done, or try to get the motherboard used. If you are lucky, you can find it on eBay. I already bought several hardware components for my old Satellite P10 on eBay.

Sorry Cozmo but I do not see any other logical solution for you.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite NB10t-A-101 - problem with graphics card Intel using Win 10

After I upgraded to Windows 10, The graphics card worked fine, at least 4 months later, I saw that the Intel Graphics tray icon was missing when I went into device manager he had a small exclamation mark by it and said

Your computer's system firmware does include enough information to properly configure and use this device.
To use this device, contact the manufacturer to obtain a firmware or an update of the BIOS of your computer. (Code 35)

Then, I looked a little further into the problem and found this:

    Problem code: 00000023
The problem: the resources for this device in conflict with the MCFG table.
    C0000908

I have not edited the PC somehow, any solution to this problem
Specifications of the PC (if needed)

    Model - NB10t-A-101
    Processor - Intel Celeron n 2810 @ 2 GHz
    Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics.

(Another note: I need the last generic graphics driver for Windows 10,)

If Win10 supports the Intel HD graphics chip, a driver will be available in Windows Update.

    Hello.

    I have a TOSHIBA Satellite Pro L500 PSLSAA-00K00U running Windows 7.

I just installed a Toshiba Dynadock u after I restarted and connected, I recevive the error:

    Warning

The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the version of the driver for your compatible graphics card.
If it please your ATI graphics updated driver, or enable your ATI card using the display manager.

I downloaded the latest display drivers ATI on Toshiba website for this model of laptop, but the dirver installer said that the latest drivers are already installed.

Is there something I need to do to prevent this recurring error?

    Thank you

    Steve

    Hi mate

I think you need to reinstall or update the Dynadock U Software.
Visit the page of European driver of Toshiba and searching:
    Options-> connectivity-> Dokcs & ports-> Dynadock U10 replicators

Then you will get Dynadock Utility for different OS. The latest version of the software is v2.1.4.7.

  • Satellite L20-101: problem of graphics card if I play games

I have a strange problem with graphics. Generally, all right, but I have problems with several games. Usually I'm not a gamer, but sometimes I like to play. Anyway.

When I get out of the game, the colors on the default backup screen. I don't like the default colors so I changed it. After the reboot, all right. Also when I go into the graphical console and click on apply colors became as they were before the games. What's wrong?

Also, is that when I play two games. These are games from codemasters. Maybe their games is not compatible with my graphics card?

I have no other problems running these games.

    Hi Pawel

Believe me it is not easy to provide any reasonable explanation. Maybe you should contact codemasters support. Usually after the release of the game display settings should be as before. I put t think that there is any sort of compatibility issue because in this case, you will not be able to read.

  • Is this a problem of graphics card on my satellite M40x-230?

I just turn on my laptop one morning and I get this screen:

    http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4330/image0026d.jpg

Something related material is in place, I'm sure of it. Oddly enough, I can still use the laptop with an external display connected.

    Any suggestions?

    > Oddly enough I can still use the laptop with an external display connected.
If you use the external monitor then this problem cannot be bound to the graphics card.
If the graphics card would be affected then the external monitor wouldn't work!

What if you could start Notepad?
You see the Toshiba homepage at the beginning?
You are able to access the BIOS?

After the review service, they told me to pay only for mboard more new computer...

Prior to this decision, I found some used nbooks this model, but with different types, P20-304, 304, etc. 771. I guess that's even kind with different processors. Can anyone suggest me if I want to buy the same and change the motheboard, they will be compatible with mine? Or do something different, do not to buy again a nb ;-)

    Thanks for the reply
    Peter

    Hello

I don't see why you can't use another motherboard. As you know the motherboard is the heart of the laptop and all other components are connected to the motherboard. I found some info on P20-404 and P20-771.

    * Satellite P20 404: *.
    Processor: P4-HT 3.0GHz
Graphics card: nVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600
Wireless: Wireless / WiFi Standard: 802. 11B option
Bluetooth: Bluetooth version 1.1 is not available

    * Satellite P20-771: *.
    Processor: P4-HT 3.4 GHz
Graphics card: nVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700
    Wireless: Wireless / WiFi Standard: 802. 11 b / g
Bluetooth: Bluetooth version 1.1 (2.4 GHz)

I think that there is no reason why you can't use mainboard of P20 - 771.

    Hello

Try to start the machine in safe mode and remove the preinstalled graphics card driver. Restart the device and try again. See the download from Toshiba site and download the latest updated driver for this device. My old unit was the Satellite P20-303 and I updated with SP2 with no problems.
