Problem opening of raw as a smart object

After editing an image in camera raw, when I click Open image CS3 opens a dynamic object.  Is there a way to reset the default to open as a NEF file?

Thank you, John

Click on the Options of Worksflow link at the bottom of the window of the cab, and then uncheck the box open in Photoshop as smart objects. Click OK, and then click done.

  • CS5 is the opening of the raw files as smart object files im working

I just new branch CS 5 and find this big mistake. When I open the raw file in Camera Raw and I opened a jpg in CS5, it always open as a dynamic object to this small jpg I opened before. The same is my CS 5 when I drag a file on the desktop, it has always finished as long as a smart object to the file im is currently working with. Normally it should open a new file, not as a smart object in this file im working already with.

If you do not want to open images as smart objects when you drag them in Photoshop then go in Edition-> Preferences-> general and uncheck the box 'Place or drag Raster Images as smart objects'. As for Camera Raw, the button open so-called in the Camera Raw dialog box? Open a picture or an open object? You can switch between the two on the fly by pressing the SHIFT key, or you can change the preference among the workflow Options (click on the link button - like from the bottom of the Camera Raw dialog box)

  • Problems opening < 2011 raw files in current Photoshop.

I have problems to open some of my former RAW files in Photoshop CS6 and CC. It extends to the dng files and cr2. They appear as monotonous image without this original color. I can copy the files to another computer with CS5, and then open them up there and that they are beautiful and I can save it back and they are OK. But it could be an imminent problem. What is going on?

  • RAW files as smart objects not affected by LR5-related

My understanding of the binding (rather than the coating) a file in the last Photoshop CC 2014 is that it would allow the file linked to be published outside of Photoshop and always updated when the parent file is opened in Photoshop.

However after placing, as a link, a raw file in Photoshop, (which had been edited in LR 5.7 and retains the last appearance of LR), I find that if I reopen it in LR 5.7 and publishes them do further, it doesn't seem to affect the file in Photoshop. I don't get even one '! "to indicate something has changed outside the program that I am." Raw files are excluded from this feature? The raw files related still act as if they are "integrated" and more editable only by using Camera Raw?

As for the question, I want to be sure you pressed Ctrl + S in Lightroom to save metadata in the XMP sidecar? Otherwise, the new information could be stuck in the Lr catalog and Photoshop will not see a difference, as mentioned.

  • Camera Raw open as smart object is not re-opening Camera Raw on double click!

I can't get the Camera Raw dialog to reappear after I open an image as a smart object in Photoshop.

Note that I'm opening Photoshop CS6, no bridge or Lightroom. I use Open as... (Shift-Ctrl-Alt-O), then select Camera Raw in the file Type drop-down list to open a standard PSD file. It happens in the Camera Raw dialog box. After that making edits (and savings as a preset) I SHIFT-click on the CR Open button to change to Open ACE Object.

It happens in Photoshop with the changes. The thumbnail of the layer shows the small icon of the smart object to this topic. But when I double-click on top the dialogue came not from Camera Raw. Instead, Photoshop opens what appears to be a copy built of the original image with no editing. It carries the extension .psd, not the usual .psb extension. In addition, any changes to this document and save it has bizarre results on the original image.

I swear to you that I managed to do work once earlier today, but now he does this again and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I thought that maybe that's a small problem, but rebooting did not help.

Thanks if you can understand this a ton!

Since I realized this file to open a JPG or PNG (and probably a RAW) as Camera Raw works very well. In other words, I can edit in Camera Raw, and then shift-click to Open the Object and the smart object works fine in Photoshop. It's only when I try to open a PSD file type by using the file > open as... (File type: Camera Raw) I get the weird behavior when I opened CR mods as a smart object. Someone know why it works with a JPG or PNG format, but does not work with a PSD file?

AFTER THAT I have the JPG or PNG opened as a smart object, I can then save it as a PSD and smart objects work fine.

  • Develop Lightroom and raw Photoshop smart objects

I understand the function develop that Lightroom and Photoshop raw adjustments are the same.  So I adjust in one or.  I can then open the image as a smart object in photoshop. I can then perform other settings as an adjustment layer. I think it's the same as a function to develop Lightroom and Photoshop raw adjustments?  I understand the dynamic objects allows to edit not destructive and dynamic filters.

SO my questions are: when you would not open the image as a smart object? Surely that I should always open the image as a smart object?  If I want to make objects not allowed to smart edition as Clone Stamp I can then create a new layer and then apply the Clone Stamp to the layer, I can't?

Then, should I also convert all layers to smart layers or leave them as a normal layer.

Or third, I'm away from the track?

Check that the size of the file of this image saved under Camera Raw smart object... make sure that you ALWAYS want to use THE? Hope you have big hard disks...

Camera Raw Smart Objects are indeed useful especially when you want to melt renderings ACR 2 or more in a single file. But Smart Objects are a lot more limited than files regular pixel. Use them when it makes sense...

  • Camera Raw / smart object?

    Using CS3
    Scenario:
I turned 500 marriage images, sorted and retouched in bridge. Now, I'll look at each one in camera raw (at bridge) and make the necessary adjustments. I use CR and adjust / synchronize files similar whenever possible; zipping through the 500 images quickly and save without opening, then use the image processor to process all 500 images while I'm SLEEPING.
    Question:
Is there a way to Turkey / process 500 images and have saved later when I open them, they open as smart objects. Now if necessary I can take the dynamic object, go back in camera raw and make changes / improvements.
In Czech Republic, I know, I can check the box "open as a smart object", but that only seems to apply if I immediately open the file (or files), and then save them. It is not practical or feasible for select 500 files, open and save at the same time. If I save the Raw files to open later, (as in my workflow above) then it will not open as a smart object.
I checked on the Adobe Exchange website, but did not find any scripts or actions that would facilitate.
Anyone know if what I'm trying to do is possible and how?
    Thank you
    JeffN

A quick fix would be to change the Image Processor script. If you add the line

    desc.putBoolean (stringIDToTypeID ('smartObject'), true);

just before the line on 1546

    var returnDesc = executeAction (charIDToTypeID ('Opn'), desc, inDialogMode);

TIFF and PSD files will be saved with the raw as a smart object layer file. Of course JPEG files will be always saved as usual.

  • DNG/Smart Object workflow options

Hi, we have been converting all of our RAW files to DNG on receipt of the photographers. So this is the format we will use from now on for all RAW images.

We create web banners of these images in a Photoshop master file that allows you to crop and optimize in one place. The end file will be many layers of banners on which it will export for each page header.

But we decided to incorporate the RAW files as smart objects so that we could make other adjustments in ACR that we move forward.

-Do I have reason to assume that ONLY the initials ACR adjustments before opening the DNG in PS as smart object will be stored in the DNG file? Any other refinements from PS by a double click to open in ACR only can be stored in the original DNG file?

-If this is the case, is there scripts, automation or suggestions of workflow that would allow us to keep our DNG files original up-to-date with all the adjustments made, including those carried out after being a smart object in PS (we currently use the CS6 PS)?

It's really convenient to have all the images in the document PS one as smart objects that can be adjusted according to the needs. But I would also like to be able to save the DNG in batches for different purposes (for example, master files for printing) without having to go back and redo all the settings.

    Ideas?

To do this, I think you have to pass to CC so that you can use the linked location.

  • All my smart objects pixelated

I am past all recently to a new job with access CC, so I barely started to scratch the surface after migrating to CS5. There are a lot of things, even simple tasks, I am not aware of. At work, I have the last Photoshop, but at home, I still run CS5. When you work in Photoshop/Illustrator, I always import the dynamic objects in my workflow. After opening a document Photoshop CC full of dynamic objects in CS5, all my smart objects became pixilated. It's pretty useless to me. I opened PS CS6 documents with smart objects before and was able to open them in PS CS5 with dynamic objects intact. I don't know why is this now different in CC? I'm supposed to save a particular way to avoid losing my smart objects?

The new version can open existing files,

While the older versions of CS5 could open new files created with CC, but some features will not be supported.

try saving the file in psd

with maximize compatibility check box selected

Let us know if that helps.

  • Cannot open as smart object of ACR in Ps

    Hello

    The current use of ACR:

    Adobe Photoshop Version: 14.2.1 (14.2.1 20140207.r.570 2014/02 / 07:23:00:00) x 64

    Operating system: Mac OS 10.9.3

When I got my Nikon raw file, and I open it in ACR, if I hit the SHIFT key, the button does not change to allow me to open it as a smart object. When I hit OK, it obviously does not like a dynamic object.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

It can matter.  There is another way to get into Camera Raw, and it is with file - open in Photoshop itself.

I don't use bridge or another tool myself, just Photoshop, and with Camera Raw 8.5 starts by File - Open, shift changes the button [Open Object] for me.

Some people have reported the connection of an external application for Photoshop CC (2014) is not right with their facilities, and that completely uninstalling Photoshop and put it back, fixed the link.  This is second hand info (I did have to go through there myself), but if you exhaust your options it's a thought.  This can help you with that: use of the cleaning tool CC to resolve installation problems. • In Photshop CS5 RAW photo as a smart object.

I try to open a RAW Photohsop CS5 photo as a smart object.  I have the photo selected in Bridge.  When I go to run the file > run Bridge cs5, the menu entry indicates that there should be a menu that is displayed.  However, clicking on the spot does not bring a menu.

In Photoshop, there are open an empty file to receive the photo.

Why do I not receive a menu?

Reinstall Photoshop resolved the problem.  Apparently there was some disconnect between Bridge and Photoshop that prevented their interaction.

  • Cannot open photo in lightroom 5.7 as a smart object in items 13

Tried to reinstall and update of lightroom and elements without success (using Windows 10); online search found messages with the similar problem, but no real solution.

You must have version FULL of Photoshop to use the command 'open as Smart Object in Photoshop... ».  This does not work with the elements.

  • RE: Camera Raw and smart objects

    Hello everyone.

    I have a question please.

Inside of the 8.1 camera raw workflow options, I checked the box to open in Photoshop as smart objects.

I noticed inside the Camera Raw, open the Image box to turn to, the open object box.  I clicked open, and he opened the Image as objects inside Photoshop the Smart.

If I make changes to the Image, and if I Double click on the smart object, it will open in Camera Raw again which is good.

I also noticed that if I make changes to the Image inside the Raw to the dynamic object camera after clicking Open Smart Objects I see the changes inside the Photoshop too.

But if I make the changes to the Image inside the Photoshop, and later I Double click on the Image, the Image opens inside the Camera Raw, without modification.

Here's my question: still The Smart object Image is a Raw Image?

    My next question is:

I don't know if I open a Raw Image Inside the Camera Raw and if I click on fact, the image is always a Raw Image, which is good, and if I click on Reset low, will reset back. If I change only the White Balance and click on go back the Camera Raw and I chose as shot, the Image goes back to the Original Raw file.

But if I do other changes such as exposure, any color change and click on I did can never return to the original...

Last month I was in collaboration with the Lightroom and I noticed if I open a raw image inside the Lightroom and modifications to make the Image, any time I can click on reset and the Raw image dates back to its origin.

I don't think that we can do this with Camera Raw can us?

Claire removes the settings in camera raw completely. You will not see the setting on the thumbnail icon in Bridge

By default Camera Raw will display the icon and double click on the thumbnail will always open in Camera Raw with the default settings.  The default value is "As Shot", that's why you see no difference. It is when you select a default Custom you want. He will stay with the Camera Raw file.

See this article by Julienne Kost.

    http://blogs.Adobe.com/jkost/2009/10/setting_new_camera_raw_default.html

Another difference is with JPEGs. Open a JPEG in ACR, making an adjustment, click 'done '.  Select 'Default Camera Raw' and it will always open in ACR instead of Photoshop.  Select 'Clear' and it's a normal jpeg which is still open in Photoshop.

Basically it's all I know, I normally don't use ACR much.

  • LR4.1: 'Edit In' > 'open as Smart Object in Photoshop... "function. "does not work with 32-bit

    Hello

    I am running LR4.1/CS5/ACR6.7 on a Win7 64 bit system.

The function 'Edit-In' > 'open as Smart Object in Photoshop... '. "works Ok with raw files (.) (NEF).

However, when I try to use the same functionality with 32-bit. TIFF files (which came out of the LR4.1 'Edit' > 'Merge to HDR Pro in Photoshop...) ("another feature), nothing happened (the Photoshop windows application opens but out of the picture I have just chosen).

I used engines research and Adobe online help to see if there was any limitation preventing the use of this feature with 32-bit. TIF files but could not see this note.

    Thanks for your help!

    Albert

Have you tried convert your 32-bit Tiff in a DNG (could save first...)?

The new DNG specification is supposed to manage higher-bit images. Maybe the DNG format you will get beyond the issue.

  • How to open and copy the smart object

    Hello

I read some topics on smart objects, but I have not found a solution to my problem.

    1. I need open the smart object layer

2 copy all the layers of the smart object to another file

    Thank you

Let's say you have two open documents. The first open doc is the one you want to fool the layer to the second doc is active and the layer you want to dupe is the activeLayer.

    app.activeDocument.activeLayer.duplicate(app.documents[0]);

Of course, you can change the document references and layer as needed. However the layer not fool must be in the activeDocument.
