Hello, I have a Pavilion dm1 that require a clean installation of the Windows 7 operating system due to a keylogger problem that could not be defeated.  After backing up my system, I used DBAN Boot and Nuke to zero to HD.  I tried to reinstall the OS with the published HP recovery disks.  Everything seems to load fine until I got to the screen showing "Windows Setup".  There is a small pop-up screen indicating "Windows is now set the following...". "The 'installing the software preparation" has a check mark next to it, and the order of the day on the "Software Installation" list is highlighted. I then get an another pop up screen indicating "You must restart your computer to apply these changes", but the touchpad does not work where I can still get the pointer to appear to make a choice.  The system hangs just upward at this stage.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi @Nightwatch,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

I understand that you need to replace the hard drive. You make a mirror image of the Recovery Manager, but are unable to restore it.  HP provides not more recovery disks. When you first set up the laptop, would have received you a prompt to create your recovery media. That one game is allowed to create. If you failed/skipped this step, they are possible thereafter, but obviously before the drive hard breaks down. I suggest that you contact HP support to obtain a recovery kit. Please contact HP to Contact HP Supportassistance.  Here is a link to HP - performing a recovery system (Windows 8) HP computers as a guide.

  • Problem reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hello

I bought Windows 7 Ultimate in Oman. The box came with 32 and 64 bit, although the box contained a label restriction of activation: Middle East and Africa. I activated the windows it and used it for more than 18 months. Moreover, when I bought it, I didn't have to come to the Canada. However, after arriving in the Canada, I had to reformat my computer. But for strange reasons, I was not able to activate my Windows already active, as he told me this product key has been blocked due to regional restrictions. Does this mean that the amount of the purchase, I have been gone with the wind? Is there a solution to this? Could someone please help?

    Thank you in advance.

Because your copy is a regional restriction where it can be activated, there is no guarantee that you will be able to activate the Canada. You can always try phone activation:

Problem: Reinstall Windows 7 Professional and Office 2010 Professional Plus activation of both of them.

Activation/products affected: They are "Retail" (MAK) versions, but University so the activation limit is between 2 and 5. (Yes, they are installed on a single computer, are genuine and conform...).

Background: I'm a college student, HE takes classes and we need to install a lot of software intensive resources. I usually reinstall Windows every 4-6 months to "Start fresh" I noticed increased performance and install only necessary software. It's up to the activations MAK is expected.

Aim: I would like to use the tool, VAMT 2.0 (or ideally 3.0 - but I have no knowledge of SQL). Also, I do not have a server, just 2 or 3 Mobile Standard (8.1 of Windows, Windows XP Home Edition and this Windows 7 PC).

I have already watched the video below on VAMT 2.0 before posting:

If the installation fails again, it may be a hardware incompatibility problem. Go to the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor on the Microsoft website to see if your computer can run Windows 7.

If you have compatible hardware and your computer still stops responding, disable any unnecessary material. Remove (USB) universal serial bus devices. Remove or disable network cards, sound cards and cards of the series; and then restart the installation.

  • I had to reinstall Windows - problems accessing the profile of old or existing to show all emails, I had

I had to reinstall windows. I have several drives in my computer and I copied the entire C: drive to another drive in the PC. I thought when I reinstalled Thunderbird, I could just point to profile located on the other drive... email accounts but it doesn't work.

I had multiple accounts configured in Thunderbird - accounts about 6, but just one profile. I had several records created for organizing email locally. So, I guess that he should be a both local and roaming profile with the same name? I checked my mail server web interface and there are currently approximately 105 emails on this subject. I know there are at least 500 total emails into the inboxes of Thunderbird. I try to restore those old e-mails, as well as local folders - but am not having any luck.

Anyway, with all the attempts that I did to get all the emails of my return, I think that Thunderbird has created new folders and is doing really complicated now. I don't know how to sort this out. I don't know the name of the profile that I have used before, and when I search my computer on the name of the profile, it is 22 000 + items. I'm still not able to get them all restored in Thunderbird.

Another strange thing is: in the search results for the name of the profile, the items are displayed in the results, and it has an icon Thunderbird next to them and says it's a Document of Thunderbird... but when I double-click on one of them, it will not open in Thunderbird. Nothing happens when I double-click on them. Could this be a problem/conflict version of Thunderbird? I thought my old Thunderbird was updated.

I don't know where to start to give you a hint how to help. I'm sorry.

    Any ideas?

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:
