• Problem with email and SMS, after 1.3.5

  First, I would like to say that I like the Pre. Up to this point, he's been perfect - I have a replacement, but it's because I gave up (bad angle, bad location, broken screen). However, following the 1.3.5 update I have now a problem quite important with email and sms - I can receive messages and email, but not send them.

  I have two e-mail accounts. My personal account is with earthlink. My business account through an ISP that uses the domain name of my employer. I do not use Microsoft Exchange or Outlook. I tried to remove and reinsert accounts and that did not work. I can receive messages but receive error messages when I try to send.

  Ditto for Messaging. I don't use it very often. But yesterday I receive a text message and tried to answer and got the error message.

  I power the phone off every night because I have a landline phone and use it as the main telephone at home.

  I looked around bulletin boards, trying to find a solution for this.  Has anyone had this problem and it was resolved?

  I forgot to add that there is a stock of pre. There is no patch or homebrew apps.

  I found a fix for the problem of e-mail messages on precentral and this Council a few months ago. The info came in a Google search and not the research councils, which is frustrating.  Here is the info and the link.  I wish really that Palm info on this work around on their site, or at least makes it easy for people to find.  The solution is the last post in the thread linked below:

  Had the same problem.  Checked with Earthlink - no help.  Checked with Sprint - without help.  Checked with Palm - no help.  Finally, here's what worked:

  Delete the earthlink account and start again.  When you do - it's the key - set up the account manually.  If you use the default settings of pre and try to change the settings it will not fix the problem. Your settings for outgoing mail must be:

  "smtpauth.earthlink.net.

  Use authentication in position 'on '.

  user name is your email address

  your password by e-mail

  Port "587" value

  encryption 'none '.

  Again, the key is to set it manually.

• Problem with email on Ouolook Express

  I run XP Pro, IE8 and Outlook Express and my BT Yahoo Server. In the last two days, I had a problem with the reception and sending of emails. I kept getting a "Login" window appeared and told him that my passowd was incorrect. It was not the case. Yesterday, there was an improvement and I am able to receive and send their responses. But I can not yet 'Create' a message and send it, I get a message saying that my account is not able to send messages without authentication. What is the problem and how do I sort? Help please.

  First log via the webmail of your e-mail service and verify that you can connect via webmail.  If you can't, then you need to contact BT Yahoo, because their service was interrupted.  If you can connect via webmail, then check the settings in OE under Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Servers and check the box indicating your server requires validation.  Also, check that the numbers of port under Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced.  If you still can't make it work, and then try to delete the e-mail account, and then close OE and reopen it then add the account back again once or go to file | Identities and set up a new identity and then add your email account and see if it works.

  Hello - my first post please excuse me if I make a mistake - I think it's a matter of Win 8/mail app electronic & comm/mail!

  I have two laptops running Windows 8 Pro and two years of Nokia 620 running window 8 (and a portable 7 years running XP). I use only Hotmail on each of them.

  One of the portable Windows 8 Pro and one of the phones cannot delete emails. By that I mean I have delete the emails and they reappear after about two seconds.

  I signed signed new in and all show that they don't require updates (they are updated automatically).

  I noticed that when I go in the settings of the Mobile Pro 8 Win mail that works correctly shows a heading called 'options' and 'permissions' has "Mail by Microsoft Corp version 17.0.1119.516" while the laptop Win Pro 8, which cannot not delete emails in "rights" has ' Mail by Microsoft Corp version 16.4.4206.722 is not this topic only and lists ' accounts , permissions, etc., without any heading 'options'.

• Problems with emails in Outlook Express

  When sending e-mail with Outlook Express, they are moved to the sent items, but have not been sent.   After that, I get a Mailer Daemon message saying that there were too many recipients and in fact there is only ONE!

  The Mailer Daemon comes from the server and so likely to get messages sent, but something on the server is to stop them from going further.  In which case it is a question of OE, try to go to the file. Identities and setup a new identity.  So make sure that your antivirus software is not interfere (see http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 ) and then add your email account in this identity and send you and see if it works or not.

  I compacted my emails as suggested and have done on other occasions without any problems. On this occasion, I lost about 6 months of emails from my Inbox only.

  I followed the instructions given to someone else in this site, I opned the recycling box and file found the ".bak" that was missing. I have a right-click on it and then selected 'restore '.

  I can't find the file in windows Explorer, what do I do now.

  The bak file will be in the message store.   The files are hidden there, then go to control panel | Folder options | View and uncheck Hide extensions of known file types and also check in to display the hidden files and folders.  Then go to the message store (in OE location is located on via Tools |) Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Storage folder).  Then you can follow the steps here to import dbx or bak file: www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1.  If it works, I highly recommend what to backup your messages.  Otherwise, if the file will not import, then my DBXpress program (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) may be able to recover what was lost.

  HIII everybody... I use bb9320curve with os 7.1, until a few days back everything worked well, in my opinion if it was my friends or community mailer. Then due to several reasons, I disabled my internet connection for a week, now, even once, I enabled the internet, I received a message that in 20 minutes I start receiving my notifications by e-mail, but nothing happened. I have not received all messages on my phone (but a lot through my Inbox in regular line).  I tried to reboot, perform a hard reboot by removing the battery while on and so far nothing has worked. Then I get notifications only when I receive by email from the community forum of bb not other e-mails that are my friends, I know it sounds crazy, but that's what happens. Can anyone suggest me the solution.

  I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

  (1) registry HRT

  • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

  (3) restart to take batt

  • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

  I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you should try remove and re-add your BIS configuration for these accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile provider for formal support.

  I have a PL/SQL packaged procedure that creates the text for the body of the email. The procedure uses a VARCHAR OUTPUT parameter that is bound to a variable of 'chain' of process flow and the e-mail activity has to turn his message_body parameter related to the same variable. Use us it with success in a number of process flow. In one case, I see strange characters being inserted in the e-mail body and don't know where they come from. It's always an exclamation point followed by a newline of type Windows (21 0D 0a). To help debug, at the end of my procedure, I wrote the output to a file using UTL_FILE parameter and do not see these characters. So they must be from some process after the end of the procedure. It is not always in the same place, but it is happening around the point 2 k in the body of the email. The body of the email are usually 2 K - 4 K characters long plain text - the code is so that we do not exceed the limit of 4000 characters.

  Try resetting your e-mail account. First close your Mail application completely from the window of the selector app by double clicking the Home button and drag the email preview pane up until it disappears from the display. Then go to settings > Mail, Contacts, calendar > find your e-mail provider and click on the account and the blow to remove. Then perform a forced reboot. Hold down the home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds , until the Apple logo appears. Then go to settings > mail... and to add the account.
