    Main symptoms:

Taskbar becomes unresponsive, and the currently open windows explore unresponsive.

They do not recover.  I have to kill the process in Task Manager, and then run explorer.exe task manager.  No error message is always displayed.

This happens several times a day.

The last thing I installed was AVG PC Tune Up.

    Action taken:
Have done the following (not in that order!), no positive findings:

    1. Have disabled all extensions of MS shell not using Extensions of Shell Manager.  This made no difference, even if the question seems not occur less often.  Or maybe not :-)
    2. MWB scan: found a threat yesterday that was deleted (ConduitTB.Gen), but the explorer.exe problem persists.
    3. A ran a chkdsk, that says that Windows has made corrections to the file system.  Don't know what that meant.  The log file does not mention specific errors.
    4. Ran sfc Scannow, who found no errors - at least he said he repaired 0 components.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that your problems are largely self-inflicted.  AVG antivirus was once a good product, its reputation has declined in recent years.  I have no personal knowledge of AVG Free a / v one way or another.

MalwareBytes AntiMalware should find most of the villains, but just in case, run ESET free Online Virus Scanner-->

AVG PC Tune Up, however, is much more likely to have caused problems.  I didn't author the following, but I agree with his sentiments:

TIP: If you ever think that your registry database must be cleaned, repaired, boosted, point, healed, twisted, fixed, magnified, "swept" or optimized (it isn't), read http://chris.pirillo.com/are-registry-cleaners-safe-to-use/ or http://www.edbott.com/weblog/2005/04/why-i-don ' t-use - Registry cleaners / and then draw your own conclusions.  Related-online http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563254

And if you think that because those related articles are old several years that they are outdated, here's a version 2015 the same advice: https://blog.malwarebytes.org/social-engineering/2015/06/digital-snake-oil/

    The key idea is:

Potential performance improvements resulting from the use of these programs are at best tiny and imperceptible.

At worst, they could damage your computer so bad to the point of requiring a reinstall of the operating system.

    Descendant of my forum,

Frankly, however, if you have a DVD of Windows 7 for the edition of Windows 7, you have installed, you might seriously consider to do a "repair installation". How to do a repair installation to repair Windows 7  Unfortunately, the links in this article of ISO of Windows 7 files are no longer valid.

For reasons not revealed, Microsoft does Windows 7 ISO files easily available.  If you have an installation of the retail of Windows 7 (IE, not OEM) but have lost/lost/damaged the installation DVD, you may be able to download the ISO required here, but from what I've seen, this system is a little laminated--> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7

Test, if iPhoto will also crash, if you disable your network connection and that you launch iPhoto while offline.

If iPhoto works offline, you experience the problem, that iPhoto crashes, because Google's servers for the tickets are no longer available.  Apple cancelled the contract with Google.

Either use iPhoto only offline connection, or patch iPhoto as described in this user Tip: iPhoto 9.4 crashing during playback of the scene

The tip of the user describes the short fix by Huxly647': the solution is to remove both the iPhoto application HTML files. This will stop iPhoto to try to communicate with Google's servers.

Or upgrade to the new Photos.app and El Capitan.

  • Problem with ESXi crashing on

Hi all, looking for a few tips, recently did an upgrade to vCenter 5.0 to 5.5 all seem to go well. So next i deployed ESXi 5.5 to a host of test (HP Proliant DL360 G5) using the custom HP, once again the upgrade image seems fine, I have now a mixture of 2 x 5.0 hosts and 1 x 5.5 host in my environment. Now, the problems I have are:

    1. I can see is more monitoring equipment in the vCenter on my 5.0 hosts, I get an error, "the service of monitoring equipment is not available on this host or does not" tried restarting the service of the CIM on the hosts but no chance, not yet been able to reboot the host. I will modernize these hosts to 5.5 Finally so I hope it's a compatibility problem between the vCenter in 5.5 and 5.0 hosts. My reasoning for this is that on my test host that I've updated to 5.5, I can see hardware monitoring and reporting works OK - with 1 exception which I elaborate on below...

    2. after my upgrade to 5.5 on my test host computer although the hardware monitoring works after every reboot of the CIM service host seems down, a few minutes storage components of my screen (storage and battery) server in the status tab of the hardware, but shortly after they both disappear If I go into the security profile and restart the service of the CIM on the host, and then click on "Update", under the condition of the equipment, the two batteries and storage return under supervision and as far as I can see that they stay there until the host is restarted, and the cycle starts again. I installed the last HP Offline bundles on the host.

    3. my biggest problem though is the following. After my upgrade to 5.5 on my test server, everything seems to work very well. However, it is the second morning in a row (had 5.5 running since Tuesday this week) that I came into the Office to find that my 5.5 test host is disconnected in my vCenter server, when it was connected and managed until I left the night before. I can not AT ALL on the host without having to reboot it completely. I tried:

    • SSH to the host
    • Live Console
    • Remove and readd in vCenter
    • client vSphere for vCenter Server
    • vSphere Client directly to the host
    • vCenter Webclient

Whenever he gives me the different errors that my credentials are not valid or that the user name or password is incorrect, I use root credentials I know are correct, and if I reboot the host then I can connect to the host using one of the above methods using the same credentials I use now. Yesterday, I was able to connect to the host using the client vSphere that allows me to put it in maintenance mode and it reboot, this morning but my only option is a hard reset on the server.

My VM on the host are available I can ping and RDP for them and they have full network access, but I can't manage the host on which they are sitting on. This isn't a problem now in my test configuration, but I won't go live until I've been overcome these bugs. The host responds to the Ping and the console directly on the face seems to be running and not crashed.

I'm relatively new to ESX on this scale, so any advice would be warmly received.

    Thank you.

OK, I added a little more memory for the machine and another CPU, I had lying around and this solved my most problem machines to crash on.

Also a restart of the other guests brought material followed back to life and the upgrade to 5.5 worked well on other machines with all the existing monitoring equipment.

So it seems that some issues were down to compatibility were 'other' allocation of resources.

  • Several major problems with Firefox - crash, loss of bookmarks and history, totalling amnesia

On my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit system, I met worse problems I've had with Firefox (all versions, I tried the oldest and the newest, who currently use 37). One day, I rebooted by computer, and when I started Firefox, it was completely broken. He was not able to load my favorites, TabGroupsManager could not load my recorded session and it crashed when I tried to search Google or visit several Web sites. I couldn't fix it and migrate Pale Moon until exactly the same thing happened there. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled, but now whenever I open it, it's as if it was just installed - no profile information, no Add-ons, no Favorites, absolutely nothing. Application data HAVE folders for profiles that have been opened every time - Firefox does not access and does not recognize that they exist.

I'm totally lost and at the end of my mind. None of the aid or other sites have been any help at all. The problem is exclusive to a single computer - two other computers I've used do not have this problem at all. Help, please!

(Additional note: when I met the first problems of Pale Moon, it gave me an error that it could not access the bookmarks and history because another application has their use.) This error never appeared in Firefox, but given identical patterns of problems and the fact that the pale Moon is based on Firefox, I think it might be relevant).

Well, I think that the problem at least explained that now and patched up right now. I went to a COMPUTER specialist at work and after work things have stabilized.

The computer I'm is a Department that usually connects to a server. The profile data is actually stored via this server, and when I lived the problems, I was at home and that it was not connected to the server said. Normally it is supposed to be a current synchronization that stores things like that to a task on my computer - but for some reason what not really, or at least not properly. That's why I couldn't find a profile.ini file - it was only stored in a place that could not access the computer. After getting to work and do a few random files and other reading, Firefox and Pale Moon are fully functional again, and I can't find the files profile.ini appropriate on the server (they are not yet on my computer, and I don't know how to read locally).

The best solution to the problems 'offline' we had was through a VPN so that I always have access to the server. I would like to get the files on my computer so that I wouldn't have to worry about this, but it's a question that needs to be addressed separately.

Thanks to Seraph for their help in this confusing issue. I have an idea of what to look for if something like this happens again.

  • problems with explore vista msvcr90.dll

We have Vista running SP2 whenever one of the accounts on an error message appears which says that explore vista has stopped working and restarts. The fault seems to be with the file msvcr90.dll - How can I solve this

    Thank you

    Hello

    • What were the changes made before the problem occurred?
    • When you receive this error message?
    • What is the full error message that you receive?

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1
Please check if you are facing the same question when working in safe mode.
    Step 1 Mode safe
    1. reboot your computer.
    2. when the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 on your keyboard key repeatedly until you are presented with the screen Windows 7 Advanced Startup Options.
    3. using the arrow keys, select the desired option of Mode safe.
    4. press the Enter key on your keyboard to start in safe mode of Windows 7.
    5. when Windows starts, you will be at a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Windows 7 goes into safe mode.
6 do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Steps 2. Clean boot

If the question had existed in Mode safe run mode startup minimum troubleshooting to find the root cause of the problem:
    Clean clean boot:
    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    The user account control permission.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type
    password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load starting points.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If the problem is resolved to check what is the cause of the problem, referring to the link given below:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    8. in addition, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the software problem on your computer.
Reset the computer to start as usual
    9. When you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.
    10. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue. On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
    11. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2:

Try the SFC scan on the computer.
SFC/scannow is a very useful command that you can use in any version of Windows. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the/scannow switch, the tool analyzes all the important files of Windows on your computer and replace if necessary.
Missing and the corruption of the operating system (like many DLLs) files are probably the main cause of the major problems of Windows. In view of this, plus the fact that the SFC/scannow is completely automatic and very easy to use, the tool should be usually one of your top not troubleshooting.

  • Disable the problem with Explorer

Every time when I want to trun off the coast of the Explorer, the computer always tells me that explore has stopped working. I have to press the auto OFF button after 3 times to close the Explorer window. I tried to update the last program, but the problem persists. Please tell us what the problem is.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Support is not by e-mail on this forum, all comments are public, so they are subject to review by peers and available to others looking for answers.

If the Explorer shell does not respond, it is usually due to the intervention of some software installed and running on the system. Often this turns out to be malicious. Race complete analysis with solutions updated antivirus and antispyware in safe mode is a good first step.

Hanging that you are experiencing is due to the way in which the Explorer shell is implemented. If it stops unexpectedly, it tries to restart. When you stop, this inherent behavior may cause blocking when it stops prematurely. There is no 'last program' to explore, there is only the version provided with Windows. If you are referring to Internet Explorer, then there are other possible causes, including the misconduct of plugins, so please clarify if this is the case. Can anyone give me some suggestions? It is so annoying that I have nothing of win7 but still

could not feel safe in Vista...

    Hello

Added new hardware, updated drivers to date (don't forget to check in Control Panel - Windows Updates - pilot
updates), or add key software lately? Pilots and security/antivirus/antispyware products are also likely
suspects. Next message is my generic driver updated methods to use when you get to this section of the
    troubleshooter.

    BCCode: a 0x0000000A

    Cause

This bug check is issued if the memory paged (or invalid) is accessible when the IRQL is too high.

The error that usually generates this bug check occurs after the installation of the faulty device driver or service system, BIOS.

If you encounter a bug 0xA control during the upgrade to a later version of Windows, this error can be caused by a device driver, system service, an anti-virus or a backup tool that is not compatible with the new version.

    Solve the problem

If a kernel debugger is available, get a stack trace.

To resolve an error caused by the faulty device driver or service system, BIOS

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. Press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system.
    3. In the Windows Advanced Options menu, select last known good Configuration . This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time.

To resolve an error caused by an incompatible device driver, system service, virus scanner, or backup tool

    1. Check the system log in Event Viewer for error messages that may identify the device or driver that caused the error.
    2. Try disabling the cache in memory of the BIOS.
    3. Run the diagnostics of equipment provided by the manufacturer of the system, in particular the scanner memory. For more information about these procedures, see the manual of your computer.
    4. Make sure that the latest Service Pack is installed.
    5. If your system has cards (SCSI) small computer system interface, contact the card manufacturer for updated Windows drivers. Try to disable sync negotiation in the SCSI BIOS, check the wiring and the SCSI ID of each device and confirming the proper termination.
    6. For devices (IDE) peripheral electronic integrated, set the built-in as only primary IDE port. Also, check each IDE device to the right setting master/slave/stand alone. Try to remove all IDE devices except for the hard drives.

  • Problem with Photoshop crashes or freeze for users on a server terminal server

    Dear Forum!

I'm having trouble with Photoshop gel over a period of 20 minutes when you (1) user gum with special brushes and (2) copy and paste the material to a PDF file in Photoshop. As you can see by the size of this post, I'm getting quite depserate here and need help.

    Some background information...

Photoshop CS6 is installed on a server terminal server with approximately 25 active users where 3 of them are using Photoshop.

The operating system on the server is Windows Server R2 2012.

There are no extra modules just a simple installation of Photoshop in this case.

The server uses 40-60% of the memory most of the time (for the most part, a little less, sometimes a little more, but never 100%) and 40% of the CPU.

There is enough free space on the disk.

    The problem in detail...

There are two occasions where the gel was held most of the time. After that it crashes for the first time, it will happen whenever you do any operations over a period of about 20 minutes and it is reciprocal for all users. When it freezes, freezes any terminal session but the program, I always answer (it is not in of "not responding") when you look at another user via the Task Manager. Ending the process as an administrator works sometimes, although the moment where I end it process it takes about 10 to 60 seconds before the program closes actually and the user gets back control. The best thing to do most of the time, if an administrator requires them to close the session.

    1. the first opportunity is when you use the eraser with a brush that is not a standard but added manually. The names of the brush packages used are:
    Extacy__Elemental

    KKC_Fractal

    Kornkid's_Grunge_Set

and the problem is with all the brushes inside those packages. How I evoke the problem is the following:

    1. start Photoshop

    2. create new

    3. fill the background with any color

    4. Select the Eraser tool

    5. change the brush to one of those mentioned above

    6. program freezes

    2. the second scenario when the problem occurs is when users copy something from a PDF in Photoshop. The way I talk about it is:

    1. open a PDF file

    2. Select the box and copy it

    3. open Photoshop

    4 create new

    5 paste in Photoshop

    6. program freezes

    So far, we've tried solutions...

I worked on it for several tour now and I'm not entirely sure on what exactly I did. I'll try and do the following once more, but I'm sure I've tried most of them.

    Update graphics card drivers.

    Reset all tools:

    1. Select a tool options

    2. choose «Reset all tools»

    Reset default settings:

    1. hold ctrl + shift + alt for Photoshop to start

    2. Select "Yes".

Tested if it matter if I have a pen or not connected, which it doesn't.

Removed Special brushes (but it's still freezing when copy/paste of the PDF)

Deleted 'save in the background' and 'automatically save recovery information' options

    Update to the latest version.

    Off to OpenGL

Solutions I have not, but I'll try...

    Reinstall Photoshop

    Change the font preview size

    1. go to "type".

    2. Select "prview font size."

    3. Select 'none '.

Delete the cache of system fonts

    1. Close all Adobe applications, including the application of office (if installed) creative cloud.
    2. Go to \Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\Appdata\Local
    3. Remove the * FNTCACHE. * DAT or * FontCache*.dat files.
NOTE: the asterisk (*) indicates the different numbers, letters or words, such as FontCache-S-1-5 - 21.dat or COFFfntCache.dat.

Delete the cache of Photoshop police

    1. Release of Photoshop and the creative cloud (if installed) desktop application.
    2. Navigate to the appropriate folder
    • Photoshop CS6 and earlier versions.
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Adobe application
      [Windows 7: \Users\[user name] \AppData\Local\Adobe
    • Photoshop CC and CC 2014
      [Windows 7 and 8: \Users\[user name] \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC or CC 2014

    3. delete the TypeSupport (Photoshop CS6 and earlier) or the folder of police CT (Photoshop CC and CC 2014) Cache and the empty the trash.

To be updated for future visitors to this case, we discovered that the problem might be with a bug in Windows, so we downloaded the latest updates and are currently waiting for your comments. I'll update once more when some time has passed and we have confirmed whether the update has worked or not.

  • Global problems with IE crashing after installing the latest updates from Ms.

After the installation of the last series MS Updates, we are seeing users get first notification DEP for Windows Explorer (using IE7), then an other error message stating that Windows must close THE Explorer. What happens when users try to access our portal Citrix Presentation Server SSL/VPN.

    Hi Chad t,

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a set of hardware and software technologies that perform additional checks on memory to help prevent malicious code from running on a system.

The main advantage of the DEP must help prevent the execution of code from data pages. In general, code is not executed by the default heap and the stack. Hardware DEP detects code that is running from these locations and throws an exception when execution occurs. Software DEP can help prevent malicious code to take advantage of exception-handling mechanisms in Windows.

Microsoft does not recommend to Turn off the Data Execution Prevention (DEP).

For more information on DEP, you can access the link below for the blog that talks about the DEP and the DEP/NX problems.
    http://msdnrss.thecoderblogs.com/2009/10/10/understanding-depnx/

As you mentioned it started after the updates, I also suggest you to uninstall Internet Explorer and put it back manually and see if the problem persists. Access the links below for the steps to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer 7 respectively.

  • Problems with Explorer 8 and Add - ons for

I was experimenting with the deactivation of cookies. Now, my Internet Explorer v. 8 repeat myself that I have disabled my addons. I checked, and they are all enabled. He always said that they have been disabled. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Explorer 8, and he also said that they are disabled. But even once, when I check in 'Manage Add-ons', all are enabled. I'm puzzled as to what to do. I can't open or use gmail for this reason. I use Mozilla in the interval, but prefer to use Solution Explorer. Any advice on how to "activate" these apparently allowed add-ons?

    Try this:

"Internet Explorer 8 starts in"no Add-ons"mode when you use the desktop icon to start Internet Explorer.
