  I try to play a legitimate, belonging to DVD, but Windows Media Player 12 will not play on my computer Windows 7 Professional.  The DVD worked a few days ago, but all of a sudden, I get the following error message:

  "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD player and the video card protection decoder. Try to install a driver available for your video card.

  I did a lot of research of these forums and on the ' net.  Here are the suggested steps I tried without success:

  • I tried VLC player.  This works.  However, rather than use this workaround, I wish to find a solution to my problem WMP/WMC.
  • I tried several DVD for years over the last decade.  These DVD works on my laptop, also running Windows 7 Professional and the shark 007 codec.
  • I uninstalled my Shark 007 codec
  • I tried other codecs (K-Lite)
  • I assured that the latest drivers are installed on my video card, XFX ATI Radeon 5850
  • I tried to uninstall Nero 9
  • I tried to use the Windows 7 troubleshooting options:
  • > Reading and burning CD, DVD and Blu - ray (no problem)
  • > Windows Media Player DVD (no problem)
  • > Windows Media Player Settings (detects a problem, wants to restore factory settings, every time, no matter what happens)
  • A system restore to a time when the DVD was working did not resolve the issue
  • The different links in Microsoft, I found in this forum about this problem do not seem to be useful.  There is a link that points to the set-top boxes, but this page just says: "Windows 7 comes with a decoder.
  • I assured the latest driver is available by going to "Device Manager", right click on the drive, then click on "update driver software".
  • I assured that the latest firmware is installed directly from the manufacturer's website.
  • I tried to reset my DRM by renaming the DRM under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows folder and by going to this Web site to upgrade:http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp?force=1
  • I've uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Media Player 12 and Windows Media Center via the function "functionality in Windows.

  I would be very grateful if a Microsoft technology could chime.  Thanks for your help!

  I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1501 with a TSST Corp +/-RW Drive. My Dell warranty is expired, so I installed Windows XP (it came with Vista - I liked but it was just a resource hog). I have crossed and burned nearly 100 gigs of information on dvd to use after the "downgrade". And everything worked fine. I copied a few movies that I and the music, everything worked very well. But this morning I put a blank dvd in the drive of the pop-up window (which request that you want to do) it's called a white cd. I was confused, so I open 'my computer' and seen my disc D was labled CD instead of DVD player, but he has shown a drive and had the small logo dvd next to her. I held my mouse over it and the small window pop up says 0 bytes available, total 0 bytes. So, I tried another disc, then another and another. All the same result. I tried to burn something just to see if it would work, and it says "Windows has encountered a problem, try to copy this file, what do you do? It has 3 options: retry, go, cancel, I said to try again, the message is returned to the top, I said to jump and a pop up says cannot copy the file. and had an OK button. I restarted, the drivers updated, used dell update thing, looked online, read about 20 other people having this problem on this forum - but could not be effectively resolved. My warranty is up (last month - go figure) and even if it wasn't I installed XP so my warranty would be voided anyway. No one knows what to do to fix this? Is it possible that I have it consumed to copy my entire computer on DVD in one day? Also, device manager says it's working properly, but the location said 0 (0).   I don't think that it's such a compatibility problem, as far as the card in the x 40 is a speed card B.  By today's standards, it is quite slow.  Don't get me wrong, I love my x40s.  But, one of my friends had a speed card B in it and she would lose the connection on a regular basis.  I put a map of 2200 BG in it and had no more problems with the connection and the download speed has increased significantly.

  Edit: Your 40 x can also draw a 2915ABG wireless card.  Scroll the Maintenance Manual of material for list items and there is one for Europe.

  Here is a link to the Manual of Maintenance of equipment .  Page 81 shows the wireless card.  It is very easy to change, only 2 clips and 2 antennas, and these cards are real cheap these days.

  Or, you can just use a USB wireless adapter to connect with.

  One thing you can try if you are using xp has to go into Device Manager, right click on the wireless adapter and click Properties.  Click the Advanced tab. Make sure the transmission power is set to the highest and feeding management is the highest.

  If you use the Intel Proset software, make sure the Intel throughout the improvement has the highest value.
