  We have a problem with the configuration of OpenManage integration on a vSphere 5.5 U2 Cluster. We have deployed IMO for vCenter v 2.3.0 build 290 aircraft, and we have installed manually OMSA VIB v7.4.0.2 on our 5.5. U2 ESXi hosts.

  The question we face is respect for vSphere host - when we start the Wizard "Fix Non compliant vSphere Host" it displays the correct version of the OMSA - 7.4.0.2 but OMSA status is "required update".

  Whe test us the connection to hosts using "Test the connection profile", it hangs at 0% and will be never finished.

  Also in the OpenManage integration in vSphere Client "Frimware" tab option is grayed out.

  Please indicate how we can make this work?

  Well, I did some research more and found that ESXI 5.5 U1 and U2 don't are not supported by OMSA right now.

  ESXi 5.5 U1 and U2 are supported only for the OMIVV on the servers of 12th and 13th generation who are capable of out-of-band management and require no OMSA must be installed on the host system. We intend to add a supported of the OMSA version at a later date.

• Problem with the start of VMware ESXi 5.0

  I just installed VMware ESXi 5.0 on a new Cisco UCS B200 series blade with two 300 GB hard drives configured in a RAID 1 mirror.  I went through and completed the installation of VMware ESXi 5.0 on this server.  When the installation is complete and the server restarted, he did not initiate the ESXi where I can change the IP address and VLAN.  Instead, I get this text string after the initial boot sequence that is shown in the attachment.  I have a guest who said Shell > do not know why I can not start correctly in ESXi 5.0.  Thank you!  Paul

  Hi Paul,.

  Looks like you boot to the EFI shell. What is the startup policy that you have configured on this server service profile? It should look like the one below.  If there is a problem with the boot order, you should be able to type "EXIT", then enter on the EFI shell to exit the prompt. If your startup is similar to the one below and you still experience this issue, try to downgrade and re - ack the blade.

  I have a problem with a LS22 (IBM), when I install a new ESXi 5.0 on the server and restart this server cannot start ESXi, only show me a promt and cannot start normally.

  I had the same problem with a HX5 (IBM) and i only enter the BIOS and add the ESXi as another device to start and this is a job for me, but I can't do that with the LS22.

  This usually happens for two reasons.  The first reason is that your BIOS is unable to properly read a GPT partition.  The second would be if your BIOS is starting from the wrong drive.  Check your BIOS and make sure the drive that you installed ESX is one that is configured to start.

• Problems with USB on Vista x 64 (host)

  I'm runnning x 64 Vista Home Premium on my laptop HP DV4-1225dx. I use Workstation 6.5.1. Every time I have try to start (guest) be it XP SP3 or the new Windows 7 Beta 7000 build I get this error:

  A USB host supported driver not found. If you have installed the software on the host USB traffic monitoring system, please delete.

  Virtual USB controller has been disconnected.

  I have followed everything installed USB. All of my related to USB drivers are signed by Microsoft, so I don't see why they are not supported. Unless its cause I'm running a 64 bit OS. I have searched the threads and found nothing that corrects this problem. I don't want my host operating system to a 32-bit, so why I am trying to get my computer to work. If there is a solution please point me in the right direction.

• Problem with OpenManage on a T300 with R2 2012 Windows

  When I install OpenManage on a PowerEdge T300 with R2 2012 Windows and it is originally a 'limited' warning of network connectivity and connection to the gateway is lost. When I uninstall OMSA network card works fine. I tried OMSA version 7.3, 7.4, 7.4.0.2, 8.1. Our network card is a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit (version 17.0.0.3 driver). Everyone knows about this problem?   The problem you are having sounds like an updated version of firmware on the network card. I suggest you uninstall OMSA, then restart and update the network map. Although the update of the firmware should fix, I suggest that we update the driver as well up-to-date. You can not the driver and firmware here. After completing the updates, restart and go forward then reinstall OMSA.

• Problems with masking the LUNS on ESXi 4.1

  Im trying to delete a data from a cluster of ESXi 4.1 store but I need to keep the information on here. I read the correct way to proceed is to use LUN masking and delete the data from the end of the storage store.

  When I try to create the rule of the claim using the following command:

  esxcli corestorage claimrule add - rule 192 - location - A vmhba37-C t 0 t 0 L - 1 - P MASK_PATH

  I get the following error:

  Errors: Extra noted arguments of the parameters at the end of the entry: "-'' 192' ' rule - you 'rent' '-has ' 'vmhba37' '-it '0' '-you '0' '-the '1' '-P' 'MASK_PATH'"

  This happens on both hosts that I need to remove the data store of.

  Anyone know how I can add the claimrule with success?

  The strangest thing about this, is that during installation, you cannot specify what type of operating system is running on the host computer.

  As it already assume you are using vCenter? Everything has an idea about this?

  "fault. RestrictedVersion.summary ".

  This error indicates that you are using the free edition of hypervisor! The free version limits the API access to the host. I'm afraid you will need to get a 'paid' edition of ESXi/vCenter (e.g. vSphere Essentials) be able use the backup software.

• Problems with Promise vTrak e310f and ESXi 5.0

  Last week, I upgraded to ESXi 4.1 to 5.0 on a Dell PowerEdgeR510. Migration seems perfectly fine, even if the first start-up took some time on the "multiextent loaded successfully." • New here - problem with the network on vSphere, ESXi

  Not sure if this is the right place to post this, please direct me properly if it is not.

  I use an eval of vSphere ESXi on a HP workstation. I built 2 Windows 2 k 8 VM 32 bits on the first data store. They can ping and DNS seems to be resolved, but they cannot access Internet/WWW.

  I accepted the default when installing ESXi and vSphere, so the configuration of the network is all that is by default (using the switch vNetwork, I think?)

  The 2 servers are on a different area of our production area. For this case, we'll call it consigment and Lab.com. "PDC" server is the domain controller, 'Exch8' is the exchange server in the lab. Exch8 has its pointed DNS, PDC and PDC has its DNS indicated on our DNS server in the environment of consigment. They are all on the same subnet 172.1.1.x

  I can ping PDC and Exch8 of my workstation (which is in consigment) by IP, but not name (pdc or pdc.lab.com, or work).

  Can someone at - it facilitate troubleshooting?

  OK finally try this out... It must be something to deal with the configuraiton of windows rather than dealing with VMware.I belive

  1. on the server you can navigate on the internet - see the proxy setting.

  See how proxy setting - open internet explore - switch to the option internet tool - connection tab click lan setting and get the configuraiton of proxy and put it in the PDC. Lab.com server and see if it works...

  2. also if you have installed antivirus tools on the server that you are not able to browse internet but able to ping... Uninstall AV and try...

  We run VCAC 6.x and I have setup a plan for a version of linux RHEL 5. Network profiles have been implemented, as well as some ip address ranges. When I load the action plan the machine does not receive the defined HOST name. The network interface comes up, also has a MAC address, but has no IP address assigned address. When I connect vcac and check stocks of intellectual property, I see that an IP address has been assigned. What I'm missing here?

  Hello I just installed a virtual machine (Ubuntu 9.04), I also inserted an iso file (data store) in the options of cd/dvd.

  1 network adapter intel.

  The easiest way is to get a compatible network card. The "Intel Pro/1000 GT' for example is known as work and is affordable (about $ 30).

• Network problems intermittent management with more than 1 works ESXi

  I had problems since installation with our 2 x ESXi 5.5 nodes running on a Dell VRTX system.

  If I had to run 1 ESXi nodes on its own, it works perfectly, no problems what so ever, but as soon as I start the 2nd node they network for the management network connectivity problems.  However any virtual machine that you are running on them have no problem at all.

  The easiest way for me to check it comes to ping the management network and it will be on one of the nodes timeout, then it will randomly and knitting on this node but timeout on the other, they will never return a ping at the same time.

  
  If anyone has experienced this before? I fight to see if there is a problem with the installation on the ESXi hosts, the network Dell VRTX or our NetGear switch.

  I tried a lot of solutions and been through the different pages of VMware KB but can't seem to find something that suits him.

  The network Dell 8 physical ports are all in one LAG with 2 nodes added, I tried the distinct lag, but that made no difference, I am focusing now on if it is a parameter of VMware to see where that gets me.

  That's how the two nodes are configured.

  

  Solved!

  Finally, I spotted the problem, and VMware technical support fixed it for me.

  The MAC address of each management network was the same!, for some reason, the host of the 2nd got the MAC address of a NIC to host the premiere, don't know how its possible but VMware support restored all of the network settings from scratch and it picked up the correct MAC and works.
