  • Problems with Windows Installer after using System Mechanic.

I had a problem with my Dell 2 years and was told by the Support Dell buy iolo System Mechanic. However, now I have problems with Windows Installer (it is not installed correctly) and I've read that this can be caused by the registry cleaner in the iolo System Mechanic.

So, really two questions: 1. do I need iolo System Mechanic? 2. how to correctly install Windows Installer?

1 no, the registry cleaners can give you immediate relief, but they are a big pain in the long term.

  • Satellite C660-223 - system caution: "" problem with cooling detected system "".

When I carry my Satellite C660-223 somewhere for example wear at home to College in a protective case in my backpack, I sometimes get a window warning flashing upward every 20 seconds or so said system + "warning: a problem with the cooling system has been detected." Please turn the computer off immediately and return it for service. +

This only happens when I transported somewhere and as a first step, that these warnings system flashed only sometimes upwards after I hauled somewhere, but in the last two years, he started to get pretty much whenever I took the laptop somehwere. When the system warnings blink until the computer doesn't feel a little warmer than normal. no danger of overheating, immediately.

I didn't fix it because the problem seems to resolve itself the next time that I carried the computer somewhere. It's a very strange problem where the short-term solution was the same as the cause: as in I would take the laptop somewhere, the warning system flash upwards and I learned that take "for a walk" would fix somehow everything which was the 'problem '. I solved the problem in this way too often so he could be a coincidence.

So for a while it wasn't really a problem because I just didn't take the laptop anywhere. But the warning system has recently start flashing to the top if I wear just the laptop on the floor, and the warning system does not disappear with my method incredibly non-tech-savvy to "go for a walk", which I am sure many here would give something to laugh :).

The obvious answer is that I need to get the service pronto thing, but I'm in the middle of final exams and the situation of tech in my house means I can't leave the laptop away for service for who knows how long when I really need to study.

Responses, I'm hoping to get are ideas as to what actually caused this problem and short-term solutions that are a little better informed that my approach "going for a walk".

I think THAT what is, is that the movement to carry your laptop around in a backpack something within the done cooling system moving out of place causing the evil TI work. I say this because, while writing this thread I was turn the laptop over and over again to get a look at the stickers on the back and the practice that seems to have "solved" the problem of warning system because this window flashes up while he was only a few minutes ago.

It seems so that all component moved his place before been moved back again by the movement to turn the laptop over and over. And I was not even take him for a walk!

    Any help? Thanks in advance.

    Hello

This notification may appear for different reasons.
The alert might appear due to
    (1) cooling system malfunction
    (2) blocked cooling vents or fans
    (3) software question (VAP - added value package or BIOS)

Malfunction of the cooling system, you should contact the service agents at the difficulty.

In case of a blocked vent and fans it s enough to clean the parts using a jet of compressed air.
This allows to get rid of dust inside the cooling module.

If the vents are not blocked and you still see this message, check the application of the service station for updates on your computer. If any are found, download and install.
You can try to uninstall or update the Toshiba value added Package. This package contains a few essential tools and utilities that control the cooling system too.
    Also check BIOS update.

But if you continue to receive this error, your laptop may require repair

  • Problems with Windows Update after uninstalling SP2 (Vista Home Premium)

    Hello, everyone!

Two days ago, I tried to install SP2 through my Windows Update. During the installation and then restart, it stopped on step 3 (0%), ignored and open Windows normally. But, I realized that I had totally lost Aero (I didn't even have the option in the window color and appearance), and also Windows Update constantly gave me the message that I always important updates - SP2 has not installed correctly (I rebooted the computer several times to try to resolve this problem, but everything remained the same: stop on step 3) ", running Windows, and once again the message that I've updated important). I searched in various forums, but could not solve the problem, so I decided to uninstall SP2 via Control Panel. But it doesn't let me do that - whenever I clicked on the button uninstall, it says that the installation is not finished yet. So, I tried the system restore, but whenever I clicked it, an error message (that I didn't understand at all) appeared. So, I went into safe mode and tried the system restore and it worked (Control Panel uninstall option does not in Mode safe either), and everything is back to SP1. But now I have problems with Windows Update - I get the error message 0 x 8007002 (and even 0 x 8007005 several times). I tried everything I could find in the forums (the thing with automated updates service does not because I don't have this option in Services), but nothing works. If anyone has any advice whatsoever, I would be really grateful for that, because I don't know what to do.

For safety, I use NOD32 anti virus, Tall Emu Online Armor and ThreatFire.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi EvanaZgb,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum.

I would say to first disable the anti virus and other security software. Then proceed as follows:

    STEP 1
    ------------
Download and install the latest version of Windows Installer
To install the latest Windows Installer, visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

Step 2 now try to update again and post back with the results
    ------------
Cleanup, utility to download and install the Microsoft Windows CleanUp utility. To do this, see the Microsoft Web site: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

  • Big problem with Windows XP, IE8

I have a big problem with windows xp. Many things do not work as they had passed him. For example the personal setting are not recalled from session to session. IE 8 does not funtion properly (icons on the desktop are re-arraged, toolbars cannot be deleted or I'm unable to load pages from the internet). Programs do not work, the files will not open. When I look at my hard C disk folders and files are hidden.

Recently, IE has been upgraded to IE8 and I installed Norton 360 but I don't mean that they caused the problem. However, whenever the Norton scan executes a "error 8 506 421" stands up and says me that I have to uninstall and re install Norton.» But I lost the ADMIN privileges so I am not able to uninstall or go back to a restore point.

I can't go in safe mode. Pressing F8 takes me to the quick screen C not the windows safe mode screen. I can't go in safe BOOT mode. INI or the other.

If I switch to another user, everything seems fine but I don't have ADMIN privileges with this user to be able to make changes.

Is this a problem with norton? IE8? A virus?

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

It sounds like you have a corrupted for your user to administrator user profile.

You may be able to recover using System Restore to restore to a point in time before your problem.  Based on the F8 key, you bring in a command prompt window, try to start restoring the system to the command prompt by using the following procedure:

"How to start the System Restore tool by using the option of safe mode with prompt theCommand in Windows XP"

If this does not work, you can still be able to recover by performing a check disk to your command prompt window operation (after that you press the F8 key).  Enter the following command:

    CHKDSK c: /R

If you are in the Recovery Console, it can simply begin, or you may need to restart before it will start.  Corrupt profiles are most often caused by the Corruption of system files, so a chkdsk operation should be performed little matter how you end up recovery.  Note that this can take a few hours to run.

In the thread above, I was following the post on 30 August.  According to Option A, I completed step 5 for the uninstallation of McAfee Security.  At this time, my network card has stopped working.  On the recommendation of the officer, I posted to the Malwarebytes forum.  The officer determined Malwarebytes that I don't have a malicious software.  I ended up posting on forum McAfee to get my network card works again.  Then I reinstalled McAfee and start to run Windows Update.

I started with Option A, step 8 to reset Internet Explorer using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737.  The difficulty it has worked very well.

Then Option A, step 9 says reset Windows Update using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.  When I ran the difficulty in default or aggressive mode, I got an error message saying: he cannot start wuauserv.  The message asks me to verify that the user has privileges to take this step.  Well, I checked through user accounts who am the only one user set up on this PC and I have administrator privileges.  Help me please run this difficulty or recommend another way to get Windows Update works again.

  • Dual monitor boot problem with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit after installation of any graphics program like a game.

I have built this platform with the help of the owner of a store of 4 cumputer teir 2 years ago. We initially put Windows Vista 32 bit on the system to Vista 64 bit unstable atm. For 2 years, the computer worked like a dream. Last week I made a clean wipe of windows vista and windows 7 professional 64-bit installed. The system has two monitors. The primary monitor is a sony bravia with 26 "led and secondary for watching movies is that a 55 '' led Samsung 1080 p 240 Hz. The graphics card is a geforce GTX 295 nividia. It has 12 GB of Ram and the CPU is an i7 965 @3.20.

The problem I have is this. After the installation of any game average to work with windows 7, the screens to reset their resolutions automatically more than a few times as they are confused. Sometimes, I have to return the screen to its correct resolution after installation in full. Most of the games and then run fine. After installing the game or any game designed for win 7 startup of computers is all messed up for the monitors. After starting hand 26 "sets its resolution and then after about a second 30 pause the computer makes the sound (the double) that it is resolutuons to reset monitor again? After that this second reset about 1-2 minutes the computer is good to go, unless it sets the res evil. The problem is the computer has never done that with vista and it is very annoying say the least. It still freezes the installation of some games. The only way to resolve what I found is the restoration of the system. The computer starts normally and screen ground is defined once she has always been. The only problem is when you install another game, the problem is their new. This problem is worse in some games.

The latest nvidia drivers have been installed. There is no conflict in the device with the exception of an old printer Manager. The two comes is set to 60 hertz. I searched all over the internet and there seems to be a problem with windows 7 without solution. I am at a loss. Any other information that you need let me know and I'll post it. Thank you!

    Hi ancientone618,

It sounds almost as if there is a Windows update that is in conflict with your NVIDIA Driver Installer.  I would say to disable automatic updates of Windows to see if it might help:

I'm trying to fix a Qosmio G20 (which is about 3 years old, it is no longer in warranty).

I managed to remove the outer case and observe the operation of the machine, and basically one of the fans does not at all. The fan which is closest to the power connector seems to work very well (he seems to be turning a lot, do not know if this is normal), but the other fan who does not seem to move at all.

I cleaned the fan from dust and have also changed the BIOS battery mode mode high performance, but the problem still exists.

I would be grateful if someone could give advice if the problem is the fan or something else.

If the fan is the problem, where I can buy a: i live in the United Kingdom?

    Hello

I think there might be something wrong with the cooling module and the replacement would be necessary.
Usually, this should be done by an authorized provider (ASP) in your country.

Technicians could replace it with a new part and also could renew the thermal grease which is placed between the module and the CPU cooling.

So contact the ASP in your country and ask for later handling.

By the way; also, you can buy the cooling of the ASP module!

    Good luck

My laptop is a * Toshiba Satellite C660D-11th * and I have a message that keeps coming up every once in a while 'alert system' head and reads as follows: "WARNING: a problem with the cooling system has been detected." Hello

Usually, this message would appear if something is not wrong with the cooling system. But I read here in the forum that maybe it's a bug of software and after new system recovery this message should no longer appear.

But if you notice some upper temperature or abnormal noises, then I recommend to check this with a service technician

  • Problem with Windows Installer (I think)

Hey I just got a new 'game' PC with all the good things like i7 processor nvidia GTS 250 graphics card. So I guessed I would setup games. Games were installed very well the problems started when I tried to run SteamInstall.msi he looks ready to install for 1 second and then close and nothing happen. Even try to do once again nothing. So I gave up with it.

Then I installed cod4, codwaw and download for both patches. When I try to install the patches it starts normal and after extractinng saying "" ".msi or msu or something it get stuck on the preparation for installation on both cod4, codwaw games and I think about others too... '".

So I guess that's my Windows Installer problem... ? Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 (problems on SP1 also)

    Yoris,
I think that if you had a problem with Windows Installer, then you would have also had a problem installing the games themselves.  If after installing just the game, you are able to start the game, then you will need to determine if you really need the patches you install.  If they fix game issues and do not add any content, then you may not even need of patches.  If it turns out that you do not have the patches and they are self extracting\installing files and then save them to your desktop and then right click and select run as administrator and see if that helps.  You can also check with Activision support , because this can be a problem they know.
