Problems graphics satellite P100-354

Hello! :)

I've always wondered how I can increase the graphics performance of my laptop and had the feeling that something was not right with the pilots... at least I expected a bit more power of the NVidia GeForce GO 7900 GS card. Since the drivers I downloaded from NVidia directly didn't even recognize the card even after trying some drivers in general, I decided to use these-> "XTreme-G 175.63 Mobile XP 32 bit" and it seemed to work very well.

But Herea´s the problem. With some Applications or games that need huge graphics power like "Gears of War", "Eve Online" or large files in some 3D programs that I use it pops up a window informing me that the GPU is warm and brought in performance.

I use win XP SP2. (Since I'm still not convinced by SP3 ia´d likes to leave it like that)

I thought if I could get the second fan who intervenes from time to time to run constantly that might solve the problem, but the tools I tried only show the event but I cant controll it.

I wonder if there are other solutions like upgrading the bios, some pilots of better for the graphics card or the things that I have not thought so far.

So if you know any settings that might help me to get rid of the problem I would be more then grateful for letting me know.

So long
Antwari

Generally, you can use graphic driver Toshiba not only at your own risk. This means that if your graphics card overheats due to the use of the driver Toshiba no then you warranty does not cover replacement.

The point is that the graphics driver Toshiba supports thermal protection that allows to avoid damage from the graphics chip. The overheating protection is part of the graphics drivers Toshiba and this is necessary because the notebook GPU is not equipped with huge cooling modules like Office GPU.

So if you want to use non-Toshiba drivers then you can do but there is a risk that your GPU would be injurious due to a higher temperature.

    Hi Sebastian,.

I think it might be a little difficult to get drivers Windows 7 for old Satellite P100... I checked the Web from Toshiba site and it looks new Satellite P500 also uses a card his Conexant. In your case, I would try this driver, it seems to be a newer version.

    Hello

I have a most unusual with my p100-354(geforce 7900 512mb, core 2 duo 2.0 GHz, 2 GB RAM) problem when I play World in Conflict I have way to 31 FPS in a resolution of 1280 x 800 and almost all the details to salvation, but I get constant image every 5 seconds to zero! for about a quarter of a second and all is ok for 5 seconds and the new framework fall to zero for the blink of an eye and so on and on.

Strange thing is that Bioshock is working normally mode 1280 x 800 on high detail so I really don't understand what could be wrong. Oh and I have the same problem in Falcon 4.0 allied force (game 4), but only when I apply a patch to support screen (1280 x 800, 1440 x 900), so it is probably from material but I do not know what part of it? Would it be possible, it's the same problem as in windows vista and all 5 seconds stuttering?

  • Update problems pilot Satellite P100-160 of his

    Hello

Help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I have not offered Vista SP1 through automatic updates like current driver audio Conexant 4.8.0.0 (Version 4.32.0.0 or later is required)

An optional update gave the 4.36.7.60 version, but after installing it, it is not possible to play any sound from internal speakers. Device Manager reports driver sound is OK, but the only way to get sound is to remove the pilot and roll back to 4.8.0.0

Interestingly, my editing history shows a successful installation of this driver updated (even if it is restored) and today I have been offered SP1. I don't want to install SP1 at this stage that many have problems of its report after doing. They then discovered that it is not possible to solve their problem with a driver to restore.

Does anyone know a reason why 4.36.7.60 problems on my machine?

    Thank you

I agree with you on SP1. It can wait. I always use my P200 without SP1. I don't want to have different problems with the drivers or the features of the tools. The reason does not for me but to ensure that the sound works. Who cares about the reasons?

That works for laptop with the older version of the driver is important.

  • Satellite P100 - v4.70 update BIOS stuttering in games

    Hello

I had a problem with the Bios v4.70. Since I flashed my BIOS I had regular stops in my games. Looks like the game crashes every 3 seconds for a short time. I got the BIOS v4.50 before without problem. I would use v4.70 because since the new version of my graphics cooling fan card responses to temperature again.

With recent versions, that I had the problem the fan worked only when I pressed the temperature of the gfx over 104 ° C. seems there is an emergency program that starts the fan and keep running at a constant average level. When I turn on my pc, I have to repeat this procedure. It's pretty boring, so I was very happy to see that the new BIOS has solved my problem. Maybe someone knows a solution.
I know there are already discussions with stuttering in the game, but the solutions won t fit for me.

I use a pilot updated the gfx, because Toshiba release new ones.
My system is a Toshiba Satellite P100-354
    Processor: 2 GHz dual core
gfx: geforce go 7900gs 512 MB with forceware v185.20
OS: Win Vista 32 bit Ultimate

    > I use a pilot updated the gfx because Toshiba release new ones.
I think that's the reason. No Toshiba drivers don t have overheating protection and therefore the graphics card may be damaged. It s recommended to use the drivers from the site of Toshiba, because with these drivers, you are on the safe side.

Check the Toshiba website for the latest drivers and I think that the problem will be solved:

  • Satellite P100-307 - massive heat problem, keypad heater

Had my Satellite P100-307 for almost two years now and it's a good and useful media-notebook, but it never HOT side left keyboard, especially games.

But in recent weeks, the keyboard is pretty HOT and I don't know why! Because I6vgt ´m using only low level applications.

I did a full restore to clean any virus or other malware, but it continues to get hot, as if I where in the highest graphics modes, the games, but just I m using IE7 and a LateX editor for the creation of PDF Documents - that s nothing for a dual-core processor! Kaspersky 7.0 has been throtteld down, as far as the security is allwoing it.

So why it s heat like that in 30 to 60 Minutes. He has never done this before, I m sure.

It s so hot, it's quite unpleasant to work with her, because placing even the heel of your hand next to the touchpad makes my hand sweating!

Would be grateful for any comment or advice,

    Greetings

Looks like the laptop is overheated, it is a common problem with laptops that are used in a dusty environment (a room with carpet, for example).

Buy compressed air in a box and spray it in the vents to remove dust.

  • Satellite P100-202: problems with screen again

Hi all! I write about a problem with the screen of my Toshiba P100-202. I recently posted in the thread "Satellite P100-202: screen will freeze" and my current problem is actually quite similar to what is explained in the thread "Satellite P100-119: display no longer works. Here is my story, hoping someone can help me avoid having to send the computer to a technician:
I decided after my previous problem, get my screen replaced. Everything seemed fine, except on the occaisonal instances, especially when I was using the "Internet Explorer" program, in which the screen sort of will re-start, IE. everything went black for a few seconds (music, etc. However would continue) then (boom) everything should reappear, sometimes in ultra - zoom for a second or two. The computer (OS = Windows 7) would report "problem with NVIDIA graphics driver", and then the operations would continue normally. This happened several times, but not often, and I was not too worried about it. Then, a few days before, I was using the latest release candidate of Internet Explorer 9 and the screen is blacked out and my music has continued and I thought 'OK, no problem' and then after a few seconds, and then the music stopped (and I thought ' uh - oh ') and then the blue screen of death.
OK, don't panic, reboot, but of course there is no word of welcome, no nothing, just a blank screen, with the backlight still works created a worrisome greyish tint. And then suddenly the mouse appears, followed by the entire screen, so I unwisely rejected the incident. Ten minutes later, same thing and this time, not even the blue screen of death as consolement, just gray nothingness.
A few days of rest, a dusting of battery, but no, even if I think the operating system works very well (caps lock light work and little purrs and snoring occur as usual), he has no doubt about the fact that the screen is not working.
PS Sorry if my message is too long, and no, I don't have access to an external display!

While I'm at it, someone is able to explain why a battery lasting 25 minutes can take several hours or even days to recharge?

Unfortunately I can not offer a final solution or diagnosis, but I think you should test the functionality with the original recovery image (recovery DVD) you have with your laptop.

Install the OS using this disc and test functionality. If the same thing happen over and over again there must be a hardware problem.
If you need to bring the laptop to the service ask first how much cost repair. Maybe it will be too expensive and you can buy the new laptop instead of paying lots of money to repair this old model of laptop.

  • Display and graphics with my Satellite P100-192 issues

    Hello

I have following problems with my almost 3 year old Toshiba Satellite P100-192:

In the last few weeks my latop ran very hot when I played games or used another difficult software.

Last week, the computer began to freeze the screen for a while and then the screen turned black and I had to reset. When I start now my laptop screen TOSHIBA and Windows startup screen has some vertical stripes in reds or roses. After starting the Windows retains the turnes black screen and I can't do anything.
When I start Windows mode safed scratches are still there but the system works well.
Now, I have thought that I have a software, the driver or the virus problem and formatted the HARD drive with the TOSHIBA recovery disks. After decomprimating I thought I can install Windows XP, but the black screen is back and it is so impossible to reinstall.

What should I do now? Is my graphics card fault? Why everything worked well in safed mode?

    Please help me!
    Thank you very much!
    David

    Hello!

It's strange, but I think it might be a graphics card problem.
In safe mode without driver will be loaded and this could be the reason why you have this problem only in normal mode.

Also, have you tried an external monitor? Maybe it's a question of s only a LCD internal.
    Check it!

I doubt that it of a virus or something else because you have used the recovery disk and it erases the entire HARD disk.

    Good bye

  • Satellite P100-187 - new graphics card update

Looks like my gfx on my laptop is dying. I can't enter windown with gfx drivers installed (black screen after the victory logo).
Can enter windows if I uninstall the drivers of gfx in safe mode.
By starting a few colors become pink and there are 2 vertical stripes of light on the screen (2cm wide, and is not disapere)

There's an MXM II on the motherboard to be able to replace the gfx with a nVidia GeForce 8600 M GT 512 MB DDR2 MXM II best or should I get a new Go 7600.

What worries me is if the laptop could get overheated with the 8600M GT.

    cordially Natal

    Hello

I'm not a computer genius, but maybe I can help you...

If you see these scratches even in the BIOS screen, then probably your graphics card is fried. If the glitches only occur under windows, then try to download the original graphic drivers for satellite P100-(shortmodelno) of: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU (if you don't know no short model of your laptop, you can learn it from Toshiba Tempro program) and then start windows in safe mode, uninstall graphics drivers after that restart windows, and install the drivers you downloaded. If it still does not work, try to reset your computer to factory by the recovery disc. And if you're still having problems, then I am afraid your computer may have a hardware failure and you would need to send it to repair.

Moreover, as long as you do not play video games or use any other application 3D for long periods Geforce 8600 M GT should not overheat your laptop.

    Hope that helps...

  • Unknown problems with my Satellite P100-221

    Hello all;

My laptop Toshiba PC100-211 will not work properly and because the customer service is very far from my location, so first I want to understand if the problem is due to a software or hardware failure so decide to manage.

I've listed my observations and difficulties in list below:

    (1) internet connection very slow irregular (I checked my internet connection with my friend's cell phone is ok, so the problem causes by my laptop)

    (2) sometimes unreadable screen (yellow traps and sometimes mathematical identical symbols as radical, @,...) in this case the message that windows cannot start no t properly appeared, and then I have to start my laptop in safe mode.

    (3) 4 months ago when I connected to the internet, found the connection problem with the sound as chick chick and I couldn't type the address because the default address is hide constantly and appear and can not select it (now I don't have this problem)

    (4) sometimes the system hung with black screen and no action and I have no chance with the exception of the removal of the battery and restart the computer.
In this case if I leave it for a long time all of a sudden irregular noise out.

I used my laptop recovery CD but still I am facing this problem. I'm not sure that I have to reinstall new windows for my laptop (because of the message) or it is a hardware problem (graphics card, modem,...) I have called Toshiba customer service (3 hours driving from my place) and they informed me that they will check and if they find any hardware problem, that they cannot do anything because we bought in the Middle East and we now live in K.L, East Asia!

    Hello

I find your model of laptop Satellite P100-211 and not PC100-211.
Is this good? The model number is placed at the bottom of the unit you can check it again.

With regard to the unique points:

    (1) what connection are you using? WLan or LAN?
You said its hollow; how little it is? You have values? Have you contacted your ISP that provides access to the internet?

If you are using WLan, then you should try to update the BIOS and the WLan card driver in many cases, it helps to settle such questions

    (2) possibly it of a question of Windows operating system, if you need safe mode.
Maybe a new installation of the OS would be useful to know what causes this problem.

(3), it s really hard to say what s this might be or what caused this problem but it this issue is no longer seen so don t be worried ;)

    (4) as I recommended in the point 1) trying to update BIOS and perhaps a graphics card driver.
    Check if it helps.

    See you soon
