Problems installing of printer in the Windows XP compatibility box

I am trying to use my printer Canon MX870 Windows XP compatibility mode. In the compatibility window is my computer has no printer, and apparently no USB ports don't either.

When I try to print from a program that is running in compatibility mode, I get an error box that says: no printer driver is installed.

I found an MS article that says I should choose the Windows XP desktop tools > parameters command and check the printer in the menu of the integration features. I tried and found that printer is already checked.

I tried to install a separate printer driver compatibility window and had no luck there either. The "Add a printer" Wizard has informed me that there is no plug-and-play printer connected to the computer. When I tried to install the printer manually, I found that none of my USB ports have been listed as locations.

My computer has eight USB ports, an RS-232 port and a parallel port. The Wizard indicates that it is three parallel ports, 4 serial ports and seven ports 'TS' appointed TS001, TS002, etc., of which the last is "inactive".

I don't know how to make the link between these imaginary ports of Windows XP for real hardware in my computer. (If I did, I would still need to know which one to use. I know, but Windows is supposed to automatically allocate the names of devices on the USB ports that is appropriate, in view of these problems, I am not prepared to assume that it will be).

How can I handle this? All this seems to be a mess.

Hello

To work around the problem, try the following steps if you have this driver on the XP Mode desktop file.

a. click Start, click Control Panel , and search for printers , and then double-click Printers.
b. now, click Add Printer.
c. Select Add a local printer and click create a new port.
d. Select Local Port and click Next.
e. type in "[\\computer name\printer name]"(sans les guillemets) for the Port name and click OK. ""
f. follow the instructions to complete the installation. During the installation, when you are prompted to choose a good driver; Click the "disk".
g. navigate to the driver file you have on the desktop XP mode, then click OK. Now, check if the printer is correctly installed.

You can even provide the driver through a disk file if you do not have internet access to download the file via the XP mode.

Alternatively, you can check the link for more information below:

  • Problems installing of printer 1022n w / Windows 7 Enterprise

    My workplace has climbed to Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit), and I'm currently not able to use my HP 1022n printer.

    I found the site to download the driver 1022n, but to halfway through the installation process I get an error message that the driver is not connected to a USB port on my computer. But it IS connected, and I tried all ports. (I also tried unplug, disconnect, turn off and then reconnect, reconnect and switch on everything.)

    The printer worked fine with my old computer, a 32-bit machine running XP and it is supposed to work correctly with Windows 7 64 - bit, too, but I'm stuck at this point.

    FYI, I use the HP1022n as a stand-alone printer, not through a network.

    I have run the HP tool and simply get the diagnosis that the printer is not installed.  I checked the printer spooler, too, which is started and set to automatic.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    I won't be here but Microsoft seems very happy sending me on the prosecution of the wild goose, and here I landed! I didn't even know that Microsoft had a band, probably not my music a little... In any case, it is the second shortcut of Microsoft which is supposed to take me to the "Windows 7 Compatibility Center. The first, in the Windows help sent me to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/support#1TC=windows-7. Not a mention of the word "compatibility" on the page anywhere. Then, enter 'compatibility' in the search for support and here is the result, looks promising. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=compatibility. But no, I click on the first result that says Microsoft compatibility Center. Even what seems to be the correct web address, microsoft.com /compatibility and it takes me here http://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-band/en-us/support/hardware/microsoft-band-system-requirements. I give up!

    Hi André,.

    Please keep us updated.

    Unfortunately, the center of compatibility Windows has actually retired. To find out if any program that works with Windows 10 or not, you can check with the developer to program on the compatibility of its operating system. In addition, when you migrate to Windows 10 from a previous version of Windows, you are informed about programs that may not work with Windows 10. However, you can try to install these programs in compatibility mode and check.

    Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • The "Windows features" dialog box is empty in Windows 7

    Thank you buddy, but sfc.exe/scannow not worked and I faced another error! (windows resource protection could not start the repair service).

    Finally, I found the solution:
    (1) If you receive the error "Registry space" low, set the size limit of the registry to "unlimited":
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
    Key: RegistrySizeLimit
    Type: REG_DWORD
    Value: 0xffffff (4294967295)
    (2) restart
    (3) as administrator, open a command prompt and run "SFC/scannow". The command should complete successfully and when errors have been detected, they should be corrected.
    Follow the steps and good luck!
  • problem install shared printer on windows 7 64 bit

    Hey guys

    I recently got a thinkpad IBM with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

    We have a HP Laserjet 3015 which is shared on the windows xp professional computer.  I can't install on my computer. If I connect the printer to my computer via the USB port, windows find the drivers and it works.

    The problem is when I try and insatll it on the network it doesn't. I can search and find a computer to which it is attached, and see it in the list of shared printers, but when I ever I try to connect it says connection > > search on windows update > > can't find drivers. It gives me the opportunity to find the drivers to install. I downloaded the drivers on the HP site, but they do not help. whenever I select them in the manual it comes with an error indicating that the driver is not found then give u the option to install it yourself. When you select the driver it says windows cannot find an appropriate driver.

    How can I get around this?

    Try the following: on the Windows 7 computer go to file devices and printers, add a local printer, printer, create a new port, port Local, next, \\xpcomputername\lj3015 (where you put in the real share of the computer name and printer), OK, Windows Update (and wait for the list to repopulate), HP Laserjet 3015 PCL5, then, then.

  • Problem installing KB980408 - set up the parameters for custom: Windows Desktop Update

    After installing KB980408, the computer restarts, goes through the normal boot process, displays the Windows logo, and then goes to a black screen with a window:

    Custom settings

    Implementation of the custom settings for:

    The Windows Desktop Update

    and stay on it indefinitely (4 + hours so far). Moving the mouse on the screen shows the circular cursor "wait", and I am able to move the window around; I am also able to start the Task Manager and restart, but that's all.

    So I thought another reboot may solve the problem, but it doesn't... it keeps just hung to this window.

    No matter who else affected by it, or have solutions to try?

    I had this same problem on both machines. During his connection, this behavior began immediately after the KB980408 update has been installed. The solution I found is to ctrl + alt + delete, start taskmgr and kill the task of custom settings. Then you have to manually run explorer.exe (file--> Run--> Explorer.exe) and windows should load as usual. The next time that I rebooted and logged in Windows loaded as usual. I'm guessing that this problem is a "run once" task. However, updates are not supposed to make your computer more stable?

  • I can't download the driver for my printer. Says Windows print aplications are used, but I've never installed a printer before. Windows 8

    My Canon printer driver will not install on my laptop with windows 8. The laptop & printer are brand new, it has never been a printer is installed, but windows says printing applications are used & must be closed to complete the driver installation. The printer manual says it's compatible with windows 8.

    Hello

    You attach the printer to your computer before you tried to install the drivers of Canon?

    If so, win 8 have tried to install his own...

    I would say going to devices and printers and looking for a printer on the list...

    Right-click on it and select REMOVE...

    Pick up your printer from your computer, if it is hung and then try to run the CD to install the printer... Do not set the printer up to this as requested by the installer.

    Even if it's supposed to be compatible, it still may be necessary to OPEN the CD instead of run and set the compatibility mode for Win 7 Installer... Usually, this would be a file named SETUP or INSTALL...

    Right click on SETUP or INSTALL and select PROPERTIES, then the COMPATIBILITY tab at the top... In the window that opens, check the Compatibility Mode and select Win 7 from the drop-down list.

    You can try it without this step first if you want and if it doesn't work, then try setting compatibility...

    Be sure to REMOVE the printer from devices and printers whenever you reinstall the software...

    My installations failed if I have done this with a Lexmark printer...

  • Print to the shared printer on the Windows network problem.

    Hi all

    I apologies if someone read this the Forum of Acrobat Pro, but I was told I can get help on this forum. I have a problem that I'm beating my head up against. In my company, we have certain pdf documents that have been created using LiveCycle for our movement from the Green go 'paperless', but we hit a snag. We have some 'virtual' in use printers with our management software document who work as printers in normal network, but instead of capturing an image of the printed document and run OCR on our documents for the record-keeping. Each pdf document has its own virtual printer to recognize appropriate to use OCR models. To this end, we have many virutal sweepers for many of our documents. We love our LiveCycle documents but, when you try to use javascript to print on a particular network printer we found our complication. We do not map the printers using windows or to train our employees on their profile network printers adding as there is so much, and each document is assigned to a virtual OCR printer, we want the document has a built-in button that automatically prints which assigned virtual printer.

    If I open a document and edit it with Acrobat 9 Pro, I can simply place a button field and add this java code:

    var pp = this.getPrintParams ();

    pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.Automatic;

    pp.printerName="\\\TOSHIBABILLING2\\pcl6 ';

    This.Print (pp);

    and the system prints on the printer network perfectly. However, if I use this same javascript in LiveCycle we get nothing. Further reading I found some details that I can't use this same script to print to the printer network using LiveCycle and am so at a loss.

    I tried to open the form in Acrobat 9 Pro to modify and just add the button using Acrobat Pro, but every time I change the document, it opens LiveCycle Designer.

    I don't know which forum to use as this problem has been found between the work with both programs. Can someone help me change the code for LiveCycle, or at least to find a way to open the document in Acrobat 9 Pro for just add the "print" key to the shape of LiveCycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    ~ Max

    Thirsty just translated us your script that uses the Acroform model to use the xfa template, it should work... right?

    Your code in an xfa form would look like this:

    var oDoc = event.target;

    var pp = oDoc.getPrintParams ();

    pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.Automatic;

    pp.printerName="\\\TOSHIBABILLING2\\pcl6 ';

    oDoc.print (pp);

    Try and let us know if it worked.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830: 6830 windows 8 8.1 cannot print from the windows test page

    When it is connected to 'own' windows - it prints OK.

    When it is connected to the windows where are the normal software like office, autocad, adobe and so those installed, the printer does not print anything - test page from printer properties is the first problem that means...

    Only "free software priter" is able to print something (test pages and so one) also print doctor and installation wizzard prints what it can, but not possible 'to normal windows print"... :-(

    It is tested on:

    Software for laptop - Win 8 Pro - installed - no. PRINT

    Surface 3 Pro - Win 8.1 - software installed - no. PRINT

    Laptop - 8.1 Pro - clean shop - PRINTING POSSIBLE Win (after installation of the driver full download - in a test with autopilot installed it does not print)

    Virtual - Win 7 Ultimate - installed software - PRINTING POSSIBLE

    (installed software means office, autocad, adobe,...)

    It seems that some components of system installed with one software disables printing from windows.

    When looked at open before printing to the printer - it shows the print job (which is not printed) for 0.1 second and nothing is displayed - also when the printer is paused - it shows the work and it is deleted immediately - left must work until the printer not suspended...

    It is not a firewall issue (tested), it has been tested on: USB, WiFi, LAN. No way to print something from windows 8 and upwards.

    seems that it has something with the option run the program as administrator.

    tested on some programs - autocad, adobe, word excel,... - when run as administrator it prints OK.

    If you do not have the option in the context menu try to hold Shift before made a - right click and run as admin

    It's odd - some print settings are transferred with work, for example, winword impression (office) without admin - PDF Factory (virtual printer) - rights and then to the physical printer 6830 - he can't be printed to PDF Factory

    But if you start winword as an administrator - so you can print directly or through PDF Factory hassle

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Personally, I see this as a big mistake by Microsoft - that something like this can happen - simple direct printing is not possible after you have connected the printer... :-(:-(:-(

  • Problem installing HP printer

    Hello, I'm having a problem with my printer. I'll install the printer with the driver HP off-site and the printer works for a while, then it must be installed again. I noticed that when this happens, windows supports and installs the driver, after that it asks for installation support, I didn't, because I can't find the disk. I then click on cancel until the window closes and the printer works again, but only for a while, then the driver must be installed again. I also tried to disable the automatic installation of the windows driver and use HP adds the function of device on their setup of drivers, but the device is still not installed. The installer is hanging.  The operating system is Windows Vista Business SP2 and the printer is a HP Officejet 4315 all-in-one. • Print to printer on the Windows 8 from Windows 7 PC notebook laptop

    I have a laptop that I just upgraded to win 8 from vista. The Color laserjet CP2025dn printer is connected to the machine win 8 via a usb cable. I want to print remotely from a windows machine 7 via the network. The machine win 7 can see the printer but when I try to connect (IE install), he complains that she wants something called point and print from microsoft. Microsoft doesn't seem to be able to help here and I can't find anything that makes sense with point and print (it seems to be a vista thing). I can print the computer laptop win 7 to the CP2025dn with direct usb connection, but it does not print when the printer is connected to computer laptop win 8. I spent the better part of two days on this and even called microsoft. It seems that there is no win 8 drivers for this printer.

    The Setup program has worked when victory ran 8 vista laptop, but now it does not work.

    I want to get a victory 8 tablet (not RT) and I wonder if I'm having the same problem.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Jim

    I solved the problem.

    I have unplugged the printer and removed the printer from the computer of Windows 8 and remove all drivers. I then connected the printer and has found the right drivers for the computer of windows 8. I downloaded the universal PCL 6-64 bit driver. (HP.com/go/upd) After I downloaded the driver, I unzipped but before I unzipped I unchecked the box to install the driver. I right click on the printer (he installed the pCL 6 universal print) driver. I choose sharing and asked for additional drivers. (this option is grayed out when I first attempted to load the driver - HP technology specialist was very unhappy about it). I checked the box that says x 64. I was invited to go to a driver I chose the PCL 64 bit driver then the system has worked well.

    The problem seems to work between the Win 8 computer which is 32 bit and win 7 computer that is 64-bit.

  • Photosmart Plus B210a will not print on the Windows XP computer, but works on the Windows 7 computer

    I just got a Photosmart Plus B210a printer. I was able to install it using the wireless for my Dell Dimension 3000 3 GHz computer with Windows XP 32-bit SP3. He will answer analysis, but it will NOT print, it doesn't matter what I do. I have a Netgear wireless router. I tried the Dell connected directly to the router using a USB of Netgear WG111v3 USB adapter and cable. No impression whatever the configuration.

    On the other hand, I was able to make the printer work with an Athlon II X 4 630 with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit AMD machine. Everything works independently to know if the machine is connected directly to the router Netgear or using the above USB adapter.

    How can I make work B210a with my Dell with Windows XP? Is this a problem XP because Windows 7 has worked perfectly, but Windows XP would only scan.

    Subsequently, I deleted all initially loaded B201a software. At the printer detects the network, then reloaded the software from the CD. The printer then worked fine. What a relief. Perhaps the problem I had previously was linked to my trying to use the USB port when the printer originally did not work.
