Problems of artefact and video memory XPS 1710

My XPS M1710 has been giving me some trouble at the end.

I have some video artifacts: scattered multicolored on-screen points as soon as BIOS starts through Win XP and Ubuntu desktop computers. Also get random garbled multicolor text in command prompt console modes, BIOS, diagnosis and recovery. Points appear from the moment wherever my BIOS start, always in the same places, and increase in number as the system warms. This seems to be a clear sign of damage to the video memory.

My hard drive also shows signs of damage: became an unmountable boot volume error. After running chkdsk partial (stopped at Midway after he had run 12 hours) and fixboot + fixmbr commands in the recovery console, I was able to boot win XP Pro again. But after a day of work, I got the blue screen with an error ntfs.sys. Now its been ntfs BSOD every time I start. CHKDSK now tells me that there is a fatal buffer on the hard drive, and I can't reinstall windows (ntfs format is freezing at 68%).

My BIOS diagnostics said a few defective stamps on one of my RAM cards as well as on my hard drive. The diagnosis is also showing errors on the video memory test.

My vid card is 256 MB geforce GO 7900 GS. I know the vid card also uses some of the main RAM (shared memory).

I'm trying to figure out if the problem of video artifacts is due only to either damaged dedicated video memory or cause the main RAM / hard drive. Did the diagnostic test video memory for the memory on the video card itself?

I know with certainty that one of the cards computer RAM is faulty: after removing the MEAC diagnosis clear memory for the other RAM card. But even with removed faulty RAM memory, video objects are still there and the diagnosis is still showing a video memory error. Logically, which seems to mean that the memory on the video card is partially fried as well. Am I correct to infer from this?

would appreciate any pointers. Replacement of the HD and RAM is relatively expensive, but having to replace the graphics card on a XPS is pretty hefty ($299 second hand)... Although the graphics card could wait until I have save little money, since points are not that huge a problem yet.

  • Problems with e250 and SD memory card?

Basic information about the player: e250, 2 gig, version 1, 01.02.24 has

Basic information on the SD card: Sandisk micro SD, 2 GB

I have my sansa for a year and a half, and I have never had any major problems with it so far.  Recently, I had to remove the songs to put on the new songs due to lack of memory, so I decided to buy a memory card for it.  Getting the empty memory card I inserted and recognized my drive and everything was fine.  The problems started when I put songs on the memory card.

I put my player in MSC mode (as indicated in the manual), it is hooked to my computer (windows XP), and everything was fine.  I used windows media player to synchronize music on the memory card, then picked up my drive.  It is restarted, as he should, and I went to listen to music I would put right on and yet once again, it was fine.  Then, I wanted to listen to my music, and he flipped out on me and wouldn't let me play it.  After determining that it was not just this song, I removed the memory card and tried to play the old music, but he would always let me.  A small red box saying 'Wrong way' just kept popping up.

I decided to start over, so I have deleted all of the player (via the computer) and then attempted to deliver music on.  I tried a few songs, sync and play the two media of windows and my computer says that the songs were on the player.  To get the player from the computer, I went to "songs" and saw that it was always empty.  I hung up, and the computer says that these songs are on the player.

In a nutshell: my computer says it is synchronization of the songs to the player, but in reality, it isn't.  This has only started to happen after I had the memory card.

If someone could help me, that would be great.  Thank you!

I don't think that Windows Media Player will work in players v1 in MSC mode. It must be in MTP mode for WMP to recognize. In addition, with the cards in players v1, you HAVE to add/remove music in MSC mode only by drag and drop from your computer to the card (read as a drive in Windows Explorer). You have to treat the reader and the card as the "separate entities", even if physically they are connected. Once music is on the map, the player will fit perfectly on both songs.

In what concerns the "bad tracks", you need to run CHKDSK to repair corrupt files, so you can remove them properly. Answer NO when it asks you if you want to save the files "bad strings" (or something like that). Check the 'sticky' & the FAQ at the top of the body for specific instructions on running CHKDSK. While you're at it, also check out & play on your player of formatting, as you should probably next to you to go to a clean slate.

I believe that files (songs) put on using WMP in MTP mode can ONLY be played in this mode, and MSC placed files using drag ' drop can be read in THAT mode, which can be part of your problem. Probably best to start fresh and then don't forget you must manually put the songs on the map in MSC mode.

Another oddity of SD cards (at least with players of v1) is that you must also manually add the 'album art' to the file containing the music if you want to see the album art that song. With WMP and MTP mode on the player, it will play the album art embedded in the ID3tag. It will not do this on the SD card . You can see specific instructions on how to do it here. There is also a video showing the procedure here.

    I hope this helps...

  • Satellite L300-21W and shared video memory

    Hello.

Yesterday, I bought a Toshiba L300-21W. It's a very nice phone, but I have 1 problem with it. I am using windows 7 ultimate x 64 and I'm very pleased with him.

The problem is that my video memory is low (128 MB). This laptop has a shared Intel GMA 4500 M video. How can I increase the size of the video memory? I can't find anything in the user manuals. I have the latest version of the driver for him... and I can't find where to increase its memory.

    Could you help me please?

    Thank you guys.

When the laptop has shared graphics memory card, that means the RAM will be used for graphic operations (borrowing of memory of RAM your system of graphics chip).
With RAM more available (upgrade of RAM), more memory will be available for graphics operations.

  • Flash crashing and video playback/Streaming problems

Recently did a reinstall of Windows 7 and have experienced problems with Flash and video playback in general. Questions may or may not be related. I have not detected problems with the opera and so I think that these are problems of Firefox. 3 major video sites that I use are (HTML 5 player) YouTube, twitch.tvand Crunchyroll.

    (1) flash very quickly and systematically accidents

       * Specifically noted when viewing streams on twitch.tv
       * Often crashes within a minute, almost certainly within a few minutes
       * Crash logs provided below

    (2) reading crashes

       * Occurs on all 3 sites
       * On twitch, stream freezes (but Flash does not crash). On YouTube, loading circle comes up and video freezes
       * If this occurs on twitch, Flash less likely to officially crash

    (3) volume cuts

       * Occurs on all 3 sites
       * If this occurs on twitch, Flash may still crash after
       * I've had volume issues with my system in general, with volume occasionally cutting in gaming programs, such as League of Legends and Hearthstone. That being said, I do not experience this issue with Opera and this only occurs on video playback in Firefox.

    Attempts at Solutions:

       * Disabled hardware acceleration in Flash
       * Reinstalled/Updated Flash and (I think) made sure there is only one version of Flash
       * Reinstalled/Updated Firefox
       * Cleared cookies/cache/other stored web data
       * Updated all drivers

I wouldn't stop using Firefox as my preferred browser and works fine on all my other devices, but if the problem persists, I'll have to. Any help or insight is appreciated!

Unfortunately, I have tried all fixes of cor - el without success.

However, I started to use audio drivers Realtek instead of Microsoft and everything seems to work more smooth. Will update later when I did several tests.

  • Satellite L875D-10R - dedicated video memory - 512 MB only

    Hello

I have a problem with my dedicated video memory. I bought my Toshiba laptop with 2 GB (amd 7640G) dedicated video memory, but it shows that I have only 512 MB dedicated. I tried also test in GPU. It shows also only 512 MB.

Is it maybe problem in point 8.1 of Windows?

    Hello

The Satellite L875D-10R supports 7640 G AMD Radeon HD internal graphic unit. This GPU is part of the processor AMD Quad-Core A8 - 4500M.

Graphics memory depends on main memory. A part of the main memory would be assigned to graphics memory. In the case of 8 GB RAM main GPU can use up to 4083 MB by using the 64-bit system.

You should also know that this will be controlled by the graphics driver and you cannot change it manually.

  • 915GM/GMS, 910GML - video memory upgrade

Greetings. I have a little problem with my laptop Insiron 1300. I bought + 1 GB of ram in my laptop to increase the performance of the system and video memory. I downloaded a new video driver (on the Intel support site) so I was able to affect the 96 MB, 128 MB video memory. BUT shortly after, I experinenced freezes and bluescreens. When I was using the old driver, it's never happened before. So the problem is: when I use the latest version of the driver I can put a maximum of 128 MB but will have bluescreens on 3D (games, 3D designers and all) applications, but if I use the old driver, everything works perfectly, but I have the 128 MB of video memory. My question is: is it possible to adjust the amount of video memory? Or any other solution would be nice.

    Thank you.

    Sorry for my bad English.

  • AMOUNT OF AVAILABLE VIDEO MEMORY

Total available video memory of my pc is 4096 MB. Can I use this memory to 4096 mb graphics card? As 4096 MB of total available video memory and video memory 4096 MB dedicated, 0 MB memory shared system, my system memory is 16 GB memory DDR3...

    Help, please... THANKS IN ADVANCE...

I'm not sure what you're asking here, but I take a stab at the answer. The amount of memory used by a graphics card is highly dependent on what is on your screen resolution and color depth is either 16-bit against against 32-bit 24 bit. It also depends on if you use the second video port in a dual display configuration or not. The GPU on your map to determine how much memory it needs up to a maximum of the amount of what the card can support. After that, it becomes a compromise usually in the amount of colors that can be displayed at a given resolution.

  • Video memory problem card 7900 GS

    Hello world

I have an Inspiron 9400 with a 7900 GS video card. The warranty has expired (I've had it since November 2007) and unfortunately the video card is broken.

During loading the BIOS and boot OS (Vista Business), a lot of colorful dotted lines is visible on the screen, but the text is readable without problems.

Once the OS finishes the boot sequence and load the login screen, happening at a higher resolution and frequency, the screen becomes completely black.

I have run the Dell diagnostic tool (which is accessible by pressing the F12 key at the end of the BIOS loading sequence) and I got a lot of chess while testing the video card. Here is the message:

    Error code: 5300:0119
MSG: Detected a failure when writing and reading of the video memory. Video mode: Dh (320 x 200 x 16). Address A0040h, expected read h 0, but read instead of 2020202 h.

    The same error was triggered for all video modes: (320 x 200 x 16) Dh, Eh (640 x 200 x 16), Fh (640 x 350 x 2), 10 h (640 x 350 x 16), 12 h (640 x 480 x 16) and so on... the only difference between the different video modes is the video memory address (A0040h or A0100h) and value (2020202 or 20000 h).

    Let's get to the questions:

-If I could be 100% sure that the video card is broken?

-Can I fix this without having to buy a new video card?

-Unfortunately the 7900 GS video card is no longer manufactured... so the only chance for me is to buy a renovated support.dell (where it is quite expensive) or ebay.com (where I have no guarantee). Does anyone know where to find a NEW 7900 GS with guaranteed and any card? If it is impossible to find a new card, I could buy a NEW ati X 1400 card?

    THX.

    Radu.
