Problems of network and Vista SP2

I read a lot of discussion and of internet articles explaining the problems with Vista SP2 update. I have 3 PC / laptop on my home network. A PC with Vista SP2 (cable), a Sony notebook (wireless) with Vista SP1 and a portable IBM (wired) with XP Pro SP3.

The SP2 from Vista PC has several symptoms, all pointing to a single cause. I've updated to IE8 at the same time, but also have a problem with Firefox. Subsequently, but with repeated reboot iTunes downloads. Copies of files network NAS also experience time-out issues. Even ping the IP of the gateway translates to periodic messages out "request timed." This highlights a problem with the network or the IP stack drivers.

I checked that I use the last available network driver. I also disabled IPv6. No change.
Occaisionaly than other experiences of the peripheral issues (laptop computer IBM and Sony), but these were resolved only after the Netgear gateway is restarted.

The network has operated in this configuration for several months without errors. The Netgear gateway running the latest firmware. No suggestions have led or has proposed a solution.

You go to the site of the manufacturer of the device and look for the latest driver? As Realtek, IDT, or that which
Do such unit as listed in the manufacturer of the device. Often the real device manufacturer will have newer drivers
the system and certainly most recent manufacturer this update of drivers of in Device Manager.
(MS is far behind the drivers of certification).

Manually, look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers: this for the real device manufacturer

    Hello

    For your #1 question:

Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > Task Scheduler

Look for the tasks listed on HP., if you see them you can delete them or distributes them to run once. Who should take care of the problem

    For your question #2:

There are a few services that are needed for starting windows update to work correctly. (these are services that depend on it).

Take a read of this thread (found on another forum). BlackViper.com, there a nice breakdown of the Windows Vista SP2 service configurations.

    Hello:

For the wireless card, this driver should work...

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-127981-1 & CC = US & DLC = in & LC = on & os = 4158 & Product = 7174407 & sw_lang =

For the E/D PCI controller, this driver should work, but you may need to install manually if auto installation does not work.

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?swItemId=vc_136254_1

If it does not automatically install, go to Device Manager and click the controller PCI E/D in need of drivers.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.  Select Browse my computer for driver software option and find the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the file.

This file will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp66899.  Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and the driver should install.  Then restart.

I have a sony vaio here too, wich perfectly detects it and connects to it fine (N range) so I think that there is a bug somewhere in the configuration of Toshiba.

    All suggestions, help welcome.

    Hello

Speaking about 5 Ghz WLan do you mean 802.11 N standard?

The frequency of 5 GHz is supported by IEEE 802.11 WLan standard A
    The standard 802.11 B and G work at 2, 4 GHz
    The standard 802.11 N runs at 2.4 2,4835 GHz and 5.15 GHz 5 725
    So you can use 802.11 N, as a 2, 4 GHz

You can change additional settings in Device Manager-> card Wlan-> properties-> Advanced tab.
I also recommend disable WLan Card to save energy.
You can do it in the Windows 7 power management as well.

  • Blue screen after Windows Vista SP2 installed on my TouchSmart IQ770

All, I came across this thread, after having the same problem (constant BSOD after Vista SP2) installed.  The fix referenced by MS that contains a placeholder file.  However, this most recent patch http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975163/ contains even more recent versions of all the files in question.

For this installation, I went to safe mode and disabled the wireless network card.  I copied the fix of a usbstick on the desktop.  After the reboot of the machine was stable enough to install this fix (before it would break before the fix might get installed).  After the restart, yet once again, I have reactivated the wireless card.

The system seems to be stable again (its place for over an hour now, the previous record was 5 minutes approximately from SP2)

I hope this helps someone to another Google search for Vista SP2 IQ770 BSOD USB

  • Bug in Vista sp2

It seems that XPS Document Viewer is not backward compatible after installing the Vista SP2.

When a document is signed digitally with Vista SP2, the signature cannot be seen with Windows XP, the viewer of XPS documents.

First of all, let me say:

If the document has been signed by first using Windows XP and second signature that he has been signed with Windows XP or Windows Vista sp1. Everything works fine.

I have 3 problems for example:

    1. the document was signed first by using Windows XP.  The second signature was signed with Windows Vista sp2.  The second signature is not visible to any user XP.  It seems fitting that the second signature was was never added to the document.  But the second signature can be seen by anyone with Windows Vista sp2.

    2. If the signatures of the first and second have been signed with Windows Vista sp2, then both signatures are visible to users of Windows Vista sp2, but not Windows XP users.  For Windows XP users, it seems that the document was never signed.

    3.                  3. If the document was signed by a user with Windows Vista sp2 first and then signed by a user with Windows XP, the document will give an error when opened by any user XP and Vista sp2 alike.

In addition, if a document has been signed first with sp2 to Windows Vista, when the document is opened with Windows XP and I'm trying to view the details of the signature it says:

  • volmgrx.sys damaged during vista sp2 upgrade pc does not start

I had this problem after downloading and installing SP2. Well actually the never finished SP2 update correctly because this problem has occurred. To be precise:
1 - Download SP2 via windows Update and starts the installation.
2 - installation routine was told he needed to restart to complete update so I clicked on restart
3 - PC went in "installation of updates do not turn off" or something else
4 - PC restarted, but could not start
5 - went to Startup Repair where it could not solve the problem, but it has identified as being "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\volmgrx.sys boot critical file is corrupt.

That this problem had never occurred before that I can only assume that it was caused by a problem during the SP2 update. The problem is that I now have no way of fixing.

-The PC will not boot in Vista
-Startup Repair cannot fix the problem
-The manufacturer system restore function seems to have been boosted by the problem of too and will not work
-Booting from a recovery DVDs only gives options of startup repair (which does not solve the problem) or a clean install, I don't want to have to do.
-I can not replace the corrupted version of the file with a known good because it is protected (access denied) and I have no way to change the attributes of protection to allow it to be removed, or replaced.

Can someone please tell me how I can fix this apparently simple problem and avoid having to trash the system and rebuild it?

  • Problem with wireless - Vista Network and Sharing Center does not recognize my connection!

I use the Home Visa software and my network and sharing Center does not recognize my connection but I can access the internet without any problem. Previously, I was using a wireless router Linksys with an old box of AT & T internet with no problems. The problems started after I updated my AT & T internet box that made obsolete the linksys router and now the network share does not connect. I just have the problem of getting the network and sharing device recognizing that I am actually connected to a wireless network. I can't use my printer or share files with other people. I can't get my wireless printer to work if I restart my computer and I have the documents I want printed already sent to the printer. My network and sharing Center also works very well for a few seconds when I start my computer then it turns off again.

  • I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista. I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network.

original title: Wireless on the Fritz

I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista.  I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network (both are networks limited requiring a password or log in).  However, last week my computer stopped connecting to my home network (no one else has this problem with the home network).  I tried to fix the problem, but my computer says that "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive response from the access point or wireless router."  That said also thatthe connection "(my wireless network)" has been cancelled.  This is perhaps due to a timeout or user action. »

The only different thing I did last week was click option at my University 'connect long-term' instead of 'connect short term' to their wireless network.  Maybe who has messed up my settings?  That's what my University said of his record long term: "students, faculty and staff also have an option to easily record their computer (or other wireless devices), so that it is not necessary to authenticate each day they connect from the network wireless campus, to resources outside the University.»  However, these settings are saved on their network (I can access it online from another computer), so I think it is unlikely that he messed up my settings.

I don't really know what the problem is.  Any ideas as to what I can do?  I don't want to reset my computer everything.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to disable any program of security on your computer and check if it solves the problem.

After reviewing the question you must reactivate the security on your computer program.
Note: Run the computer without antivirus software or firewall is a potential threat to the computer; Be sure to activate security software after completing the troubleshooting steps and after identifying the problem.
    Method 2:
I suggest also allows you to check in SafeMode with network.
    Method 3:
I also suggest you to check the settings of the router firewall.
  • Windows Vista connected online but not shown on network and sharing Center or on the taskbar, leads to other problems

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 running on Windows Vista, my router modem is a Motorola SURFboard SBG901. A few months ago on this computer, I couldn't see that I was connected online either from right down icon in my taskbar (it shows just two monitors with an 'x', that when you highlight on he says "not connected, you are currently not connected to any network.")  I don't see it on my network and sharing Center which States: "not connected wireless connections are available." In terms of network it shows that my PC and then the line that has an x on him. If you click the x, or select diagnose and repair, he informs me that all is going well with my computer. If I go to connect to a wireless network, it shows that I'm connected to my network ready. I open one of my browsers and they all work very well, I can access any site without problem. I was not embarrassed with him at the time, but since then I moved into a new House and have a new service and everything, with this motorola modem cable. my new wireless network is a network unsecured, which of course, I want to fix it. I can connect to this network, but I can't access it through Windows properties to make sure. I read the manual of the modem, telling me to connect through an ethernet connection and access configuration manager using the ip address of my router on a browser, but which does not charge or the other. I have other devices (Ipod Touch and PS3) wireless I got other people come computers and they all detect the network but cannot connect to it. Thanks for any help.

    Hello

I would like to ask you a few more things.
    1. how many network connections you have created?
    2. are there multiple NICs installed on the computer?

Since this is a common problem and many users have solved this problem by using different methods.

This can also occur if you frequently use several type of internet connections such as dial-up, Ethernet and LAN.

As the article below also indicates that there could be multiple reasons for the same.
The network adapter icon incorrectly displays a red "X" in the window management in Windows Vista network connections when the network adapter is connected
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/945925

    Method 1.
I ask you to remove any network connection if you have created and then check.

    Method 2.
For control please check in mode safe mode with Networking if the problem exists.
    Here's how:
    a. restart your computer.
    b. when the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 on your keyboard key repeatedly until you are presented with the screen Windows 7 Advanced Startup Options.
    c. using the arrow keys, select the desired option of Mode without failure.
    d. press the Enter key on your keyboard to boot mode safe mode of Windows 7 with networking.
    e. when Windows starts, use check and Internet explore if the problem persists.
For more information, see the articles below.
