Problem with wireless - Vista Network and Sharing Center does not recognize my connection!
I use the Home Visa software and my network and sharing Center does not recognize my connection but I can access the internet without any problem. Previously, I was using a wireless router Linksys with an old box of AT & T internet with no problems. The problems started after I updated my AT & T internet box that made obsolete the linksys router and now the network share does not connect. I just have the problem of getting the network and sharing device recognizing that I am actually connected to a wireless network. I can't use my printer or share files with other people. I can't get my wireless printer to work if I restart my computer and I have the documents I want printed already sent to the printer. My network and sharing Center also works very well for a few seconds when I start my computer then it turns off again.

Hello.I live in a House and bought a range extender so that I can get a connection in my basement as well. I have installation range Extenders without problem. When you install the range extender, I changed my name to my network router. I changed the name of the network by typing 192.168.1.1 in my browser. The MacBook connects without a problem. In the basement, the connection of Windows 7 works very well. I have just connected Vaio Windows 7 my mother to the network, but it prompted that I enter the user credentials. I read a post above and got that problem solved by opening the network and sharing Center and adding a new connection. Now that the connection is configured correctly. The problem is with the laptop HP Windows Vista family basis. Since I install the range extender, I can't connect to the network. He had no problems before you connect the router or other networks to visit other places. The new network name appears, but when I click it, it says I have to enter the user credentials. I tried to manually, but the name is taken so I can't make a new and invites me to connect to the network that is established or to connect to a different network.
- I tried to open the network and sharing Center, but it does not open. When I click it, it opens a screen for a brief second. The option "Display the status of network and tasks" opens either.
- I logged as an Administration by entering the command line < net="" user="" administrator="" ctive:yes=""> > and restarted the laptop. Even logged in as administrator, this folder does not open.
- I also did a scan < sfc="" cannow=""> >. The digitized rolled up with an error, but the error has been corrected.
- I also updated the connection of the range extender.
Why the network and sharing Center will not be open to the top?How can I configure my router my HP Windows Vista Linksys connection?Thank you. Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks for your reply.
In a last attempt, my sister has used the ethernet cable to connect directly to our router. Next time, she turned on her laptop, she managed to connect to our wireless network and she was not invited to enter credentials. In this case, the manual connection helped solved the problem. -

Network and sharing Center will not be open in the Panel
I've been away from home - where I HSI and it works very well - for a few months, I plugged to the network sporadically awireless (sometimes just bad signal), with a lot of frustration. A few days ago, I went to a place where I could connect to a hard (secure) wireless network and enjoyed the smooth navigation for about an hour. Later when I tried to connect to the smaller network, unsecure, I couldn't open my network and sharing Center. Whether from the drawer or the Control Panel, a screen opens displaying nothing, but the circle of rotation. The TASK MANAGER IS REQUIRED to CLOSE THE PAGE - it will not answer the close box. TM shows the centre network and sharing as 'running', although there is no indication on the screen, except the title and the circle of rotation.
My laptop is a dv6t Pavilion with Windows 7 (64-bit)
All the other files in the Panel seem to open and operate normally.
Hello Hamanslayer
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I understand the network and sharing Center will not be open. I will do my best to help you! If please launch and center network and sharing, and wait for him so that he can provide an error. In addition, please try to run Centre network and sharing in a different user account. If you don't have one, create one.
I did some research on this issue. Unfortunately, the only reliable troubleshooting that is remaining, if the above does not help, is to reinstall the operating system. Too, there are different issues that could be causing it. Reinstalling the operating system will focus on each of them.
First, please save all the files you need. You can find specific steps on how to proceed in the following HP document: backup of files (Windows 7)
Once this is done, you can safely reinstall the operating system. I'll also give you a document on how to do it: perform a recovery of the system (Windows 7) HP
Please let me know your results. Thanks again for the display on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

When I open the network and sharing Center, or hold my mouse pointer on the icon of internet connection in the bottom right of the taskbar, it shows that I'm not connected to a network. However, I know that I'm connected to the internet. My internet and e-mail work correctly. Also, when I click on the 'Connect to a network' option, find the list of available wireless networks, and it shows that I'm connected to my home network. How can I make Windows everywhere where I am connected to the internet, instead of recognizing only on the list of the networks without wire-available?
Had exactly the same problem on Windows 7 (win7). Connected to the Internet but the status showing no connection and a red cross on the network icon. Problem has also caused problems to connect to Lync and Office365 along with VPN, which apparently uses the status to check whether the connection is available.
Found the solution here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itpronetworking/thread/df17c593-e78f-4878-97b0-7569307934c5
Apparently, certain permissions gets hurt in the database record and must be fixed using RegEdit. The solution is a step by step and likely to be resolved simply by removing a cache of file using RegEdit and potentially affecting certain permissions.
It will be useful.

Hi kyungturner,
Please use the forum for Support of Vista,
You have anything installed recently? It sounds like the system could have a corruption. Save all your data prior to perform a clean boot to further diagnose the problem:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
If the clean boot does not work, try a SFC scan to repair system files:

For now, you can try the troubleshooting provided in the following steps and check if they help to fix the problem.
Method 1: Make sure that the following services are enabled on the computer.
(a) click Start and type "services.msc" in the search and click on services and ensure that these services are enabled:
-TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service
-DNS Client
-Function Discovery Resource Publication
-SSDP Discovery
-UPnP device host
To start the service and set it to automatic, follow these steps:
(b) right click on each of the services listed above and click Properties.
(c) click the general tab, and then, next to startup type, select automatic.
(d) click on apply and then click Start.
Method 2:
I suggest that you can exercise SFC scan and check if TI the problem persists. To do this, please see the following article.

Center network and sharing Center shows "Page failed to load".
On Windows Vista, Network and Sharing Center comes with a blank page except for text in the middle and says 'The Page impossible to load' steps, I tried:
Clean boot
SFC/scannow
CHKDSK /r
System Restore (has not only once other succeeded, but does not solve the problem)
None of them have worked. I have reviewed the SFC newspaper and looked at DLL files, it says could not be fixed and replaced those with well known copies.
A clean install is not a good option in this case either. My thoughts are that it is a corrupt DLL somewhere or a DLL that has incorrect permissions.
On another note, I can't connect to wireless networks either. To be more exact, no networks appear in the list (I can connect by typing the SSID manually. The pop-up icon wireless in the status bar indicates "networks are available", but the list shows no. I believe that these two issues are related. Please give suggestions and connents, I appreciate all help.
Thank you.
Hello
Do you remember any change to your computer before the problem?
Search for related errors and Event Viewer .I suggest that you follow these steps and check if the problem persists.
Step 1:
You can uninstall the drivers for the network adapters in the Device Manager and reinstall the same.
To uninstall the wireless device manager,
1. click on Start , type Device Manager in the start search box and press ENTER.
2 locate the network adapters and expand the same.
3. Select the adapter, right click and selectUninstall.
4 restart the computer, if prompted.
Pilots should settle automatically after the computer restarts.
Note: Before uninstalling the drivers from Device Manager, make sure that you have a backup installation files.
Step 2:
A. If not help, to create a new user account and check if the problem persists.
B. Si the problem is resolved in a new user profile, then probably you had a corrupted profile and can be remedied .

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 running on Windows Vista, my router modem is a Motorola SURFboard SBG901. A few months ago on this computer, I couldn't see that I was connected online either from right down icon in my taskbar (it shows just two monitors with an 'x', that when you highlight on he says "not connected, you are currently not connected to any network.") I don't see it on my network and sharing Center which States: "not connected wireless connections are available." In terms of network it shows that my PC and then the line that has an x on him. If you click the x, or select diagnose and repair, he informs me that all is going well with my computer. If I go to connect to a wireless network, it shows that I'm connected to my network ready. I open one of my browsers and they all work very well, I can access any site without problem. I was not embarrassed with him at the time, but since then I moved into a new House and have a new service and everything, with this motorola modem cable. my new wireless network is a network unsecured, which of course, I want to fix it. I can connect to this network, but I can't access it through Windows properties to make sure. I read the manual of the modem, telling me to connect through an ethernet connection and access configuration manager using the ip address of my router on a browser, but which does not charge or the other. I have other devices (Ipod Touch and PS3) wireless I got other people come computers and they all detect the network but cannot connect to it. Thanks for any help.
HelloI would like to ask you a few more things.1. how many network connections you have created?2. are there multiple NICs installed on the computer?Since this is a common problem and many users have solved this problem by using different methods. This can also occur if you frequently use several type of internet connections such as dial-up, Ethernet and LAN.As the article below also indicates that there could be multiple reasons for the same. The network adapter icon incorrectly displays a red "X" in the window management in Windows Vista network connections when the network adapter is connected

Cannot turn off or disable password protected sharing the network and sharing Center
I'm trying to turn some pretty simple sharing of files between our windows PC (two portable minicomputers running under XP, a desk and a laptop running vista). File sharing functions between the XP computers. However, I am simply unable to influence the "password protected sharing setting" in the network and sharing Center. I check the option to turn it off and I get a click through UAC dialog window, the mouse cursor turns for a short time while as if windows is pretending to do something, but the password protected sharing setting is always on.
I tried to disable Avira Antivir.
I enabled the guest account and set its password to a string explicitly empty with net user guest «»
Nothing helps.

This knowledge base article can be useful for you. Although the problem that it is designed for the difficulty is not the same as yours, the underlying cause is the same. There is an article to 'fix', which means that you can click the 'fix' in the article so that it automatically fixed for you online or you can follow the instructions to edit the registry yourself if you feel capable of doing that. So check that out and see if it helps with your problem:http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/947232

Network and sharing Center (no answer)
I have been using Vista Home Premium on a laptop Toshiba Satellite. I remember not exactly since when, but lately when I opened the icon ' currently logged in ': l to the taskbar and click on it and open CONNECTIONS current or CONNECT or DISCONNECT or NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER, it freezes: changement. t gave me a lot of problems... Please help... I tried Googling through and used commands like:
1. net localgroup "Administrators'"NT Authority\Local Service"/ Add
2. to turn off the automatic setting:
Run as administrator command prompt.
Type: "netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel = disabled" (without the quotes) and press ENTER.You may also need to run this command:
netsh interface tcp set global rss = offTo activate the auto adjustment:
Type: "netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel = normal" (without the quotes) and press ENTER.To view the current TCP settings:
Type: press and "netsh interface tcp show global" (without the quotes) to enter.I don't even know what they asked me to do, if it is correct or not, but I did and still no solution...: s: s: s
Any yelp would be appreciated!
Beppe!
Nothing is perfect!... .but it should work!
B3PPE,
See that article following (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833) if it can help you to manually replace the files that SFC could not fix, it also gives you measurements on log file filtering so that only unsuccessful repairs of SFC are listed. Please note that the best source for replacement files would be a sound installation of vista with the functions you want to work.
I will add to check your hard disk for errors, as corruption SFC could be linked to it. For details, see check your drive for errors .
Our final recommended option for the problem that you encounter will be a Vista repair install:
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
You can reinstall your copy of Vista while keeping your files, settings and programs by performing a repair install or a level facility.
1. Insert the Windows installation disc in your computer's DVD or CD drive. You must start Windows installation while running your existing version of Windows.
2. on the Install Windows page, click install now.
3. on the get updates for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. You will need an Internet connection to get the installation updates.
4. on the Type your product key for activation , we strongly recommend that you type your 25-character product key in order to avoid problems during activation.
5. on the page Please read the terms of the license , if you accept the license terms, click I accept the terms of the license.
6. to the which type of installation you want? page, click upgrade to begin the upgrade. You can see a compatibility report.
7 follow the instructions.
Note: If your installation disc doesn't include SP1, and you are updated, then you must uninstall it before proceeding with an update install. Start-> Control Panel-> programs-> see installed updates, then select Service Pack for Microsoft Windows and click on Uninstall.
<><><><><><><><><><><><>
It is always advisable to backup any and all important data before continuing with the major changes to your system. Please see: methods for backing up your files.
Always make sure that you have the means to reinstall your programs, or by an installation disc or access to the installation files.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Only a clean installation may shrink toward the low enough differences to isolate what causes this scenario. There are already has with your file system corruptions, we can't go until this is completely isolated. Please let us know if a reinstallation of your operating system is an option for you at this point.

Hi guys
I've been struggling with this problem for a few weeks and need help. When I open the control panel; Network and Internet; "Network and sharing Center", at the top of the page to the right, I have an option to view the connections of the network (see map). The opening I find a big blue '? ', with 2 solid lines from my computers to the "?", with the word "Unknown"under the present'?", then 2 solid lines go to the router... It's a wireless network must therefore a double line broken and not solid and obviously not '? I can fix this problem by changing the Properties tab 'Advanced' from the WiFi transceiver on each of the computers. Once I click OK, the computer the fact thing... and the blue "?" disappears and the network is 100% functional. Putting computers into sleep or restart... and I have the '? ' on the respective computer which itself was removed from the network after a reboot. This happens on 4 computers on the network, all the Windows 7 64-bit, 2 notebooks, desktop computer 2!... Still problem, all corrected in the same way. Until the '? ' is corrected I show other computers in our network at the bottom of the window under the label:-"the following peripheral discovered may not be placed in the plan.» Click here, etc. etc. Once all 4 computers are patched, I show a perfectly displayed network... I'm open to any ideas... Thank you
The question mark appears when you return from sleep if interconnect them (Network Interface Controller) is allowed to turn off to save power.
This can be disabled if you wish
