Problems of resettlement with recovery on a Satellite A100 cd

I tried to reinstall the operating system on my computer.
When I run a recovery cd, I get a recovery utility.

I did and the hard drive has been formatted.
But now I have only a single disk partition C and everything is above.

I don't understand what happened, but I wish I had two partitions. I tried to do it again
but I still get the same recovery utility.

What can I do? Is there anyone who can help me?

Hello

If you want to create two partitions, please use the installation option. After choosing the right language pop-up menu occurs. Click on the SETUP button on the right side.

In the middle of the screen you will see the small window. Please choose the first option and choose how much capacity the first partition should be. Click OK and continue the recovery procedure.

After installing the OS installation process finishes and start Windows XP Home edition. You will see that it is established that only partition C but with a good capacity. Run "Disk management" and create a logical partition. After the formatting of this work is done and you will have two partitions.

If you have any other questions, please write again.

BTW: you don't need other applications of the partition.

    Hello

I have a problem of creation of recovery for the Satellite L500-126 disks.

I'm using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

    The 1st disk is ok.
When I try to do the 2nd drive, the systems stops exactly 50% of the 2nd drive. and no more reaction from the creator of disc.

I tried 2 x, and every time I had to give up and throw the dvd.

    any suggestions?

    Hello

You should try another DVD from different manufacturers
It s nothing unusual that some DVDs are not totally compatible and CD/DVD players cannot write data correctly
I had this problem in the past and could solve this test and using different DVD.

  • How to use the recovery on the Satellite A100-192 with 2 partitions CD

I have a satellite a100-192 with 100 GB hard drive.

and now, because of a few bad shots, I made (the software bad... lol) I want to reinstall windows. and honestly, I have no idea how to proceed. what I mean, I don't know what cd to use (I have two CD when I bought the computer), in fact I guess that's the one with ms a note on it, but how to do it safely without losing all my data on the d drive?

The problem is that I did a lot of relocations on desktop computers when you hava clean facilities and then I know what I'm doing, but I have no experience with bundled windows installations.

    Hello

Usually, Toshiba laptops are supplied with a Toshiba restore CD.
On this CD, you will find the image of Toshiba which contains all Toshiba drivers and utilities.

The question is what CD image you received.
Some people here in the forum suggested that, since January 2006 the Toshiba Recovery CD supports another recovery procedure. The new recovery CD does not support the ghost but the surface RECO and it s not possible to choose the partition for the installation of the OS.
In this case the whole HARD disk will be deleted and you will lose all your partitions.

I have only one old recovery CD and so I can't say if it is possible to choose the right partition. It was possible on the old recovery cd by selecting the expert mode.

In my view, that should make a backup of you all important files before you begin the recovery procedure.

  • No recovery expert on Satellite A100-237 option?

    Hello

I own a laptop Satellite A100-237 which, after a long struggle with attacks from viruses and Trojans, needs a system recovery. I have a package of product recovery 2-CD with Windows XP Home edition with SP2 and all of the drivers/tools etc and the process is supposed to be pretty simple - but I have a serious issue at hand: Partitions.

My 80 GB HD is divided into two partitions: A 60 GB c: the operating system and general purpose and a 20 GB D: for backups of EXTREME IMPORTANCE. Now that I know I can use a 'expert recovery mode"to recover my system while maintaining the back-ups. Now, it's actually where the problem comes in.

When I boot from the restore CD there is absolutely NO OPTION for the 'EXPERT' YEAR RECOVERY MODE!

Simply, I am greeted by a language selection screen. Spent, the family Windows XP Setup option in English or localized version (Turkish, in my case), in both cases the HD everything is wiped out. Next there is a "Cancel" button and a button "settings". 'Abandonment', as well as the label says, shut down the computer. 'Settings', on the other hand, are more complicated. You are presented with a window with a nice slider which culminates at 76 GB - you are supposed to set a default size installation partition. However, in this case, the HD everything gets wiped out as well - you get only a partition of the installation and the remaining space becomes simply "unallocated". I tried each way for a cost of losing all my backups several times without success.

In both cases there is no option to install the operating system on a predefined partition.

There is no 'expert recovery option' accessible from any where inside the installation routine.

I contacted the local Toshiba customer service and Tech Services. and their response is identical and hilarious: "your hard drive is not intended to be used in partitions. You NEED to recover your system as a single partition. Otherwise you won't be eligible to warranty AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE! »

I'm pretty sure I'm missing something inside this installation routine, and there should be a way to preserve the back-ups and retrieve only the first partition. Any information would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    I understand that you're frustrated.
As much as I know expert recovery mode is not available on the recovery CD because it s a new generation of mobile phones.
As far as I know since 2006, Toshiba laptops come with the new version of the recovery CD. This CD contains the option instead of the normal or expert mode settings.
But in the settings, you should be able to change the size of the HARD disk as in expert mode.

My Satellite phone was delivered with a single partition and I guess that all laptops are delivered also with a single partition (instead of a few Qosmio that uses a Qosmio player on hidden partition). Generally, the recovery CD brings the laptop to factory settings.
I think that every computer made manufacturing only supported hardware issues and not the problems of software (partition is a software problem and does not appear as a factory setting). If you want to do something different on the laptop that you can do, but it s not supported by any computer manufacturing. So I can understand the service guy.

However, the issue of your partition. I think the option settings should allows you to create a new game or to select the partition where the OS is to be installed.
In disk management, you can activate the remaining space and the partition must be visible.
Try to make a backup of your second partition and play with these settings.

  • Question about the key to restore with Vista premium on Satellite A100 CD

I have a Satellite A110 which is compatible with Vista, but recovery of product is Windows XP.
I use my cd of restoration of friends and it work perfect until it tell me to put the product key for vista Home premium
I used the product key with the cd, they said it is not acceptable.
    give me the solution

Solution? Buy your own Vista and use it with the activation code valid. The button located on the bottom side belongs to the Windows XP Home edition version, that you got with recovery media. It is not a kind of universal key.

  • What is the recovery CD contain - Satellite A100-847

    Hello guys

I had a few questions on the recovery CD:

    1. what the recovery CD contain? and the other CD, which is called the media something?

2 - has Windows inside? So can I format my PC to use it? And where can I find the product key (windows key)

    3. what happens if I wanted to use the CD without formatting? etc., install the software?

Sorry to ask too but my laptop started to bother me. Just FYI, my laptop is satellite A100-847

    Hello

I'll try to answer your question.

1 recovery media contains recovery image. Recovery image is a kind of package that contains the operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba tools and utilities and some other software like WinDVD or Norton antivir application. Media, that something is not known to me. Perhaps the exact description can help.

2 Yes there the Windows operating system. Yes, you can format your laptop to use it. You don't need a product key. Just install it.

3 I don't know what you mean. The fact is that HARD drive will be formatted before you start the installation of recovery. Make sure that all your important data are saved on an external device.

    Good bye

  • Recovery of old Satellite A100

Hello.. I'm new to this, so please be patient with me.

I have an 'old' Toshi A100 with Vista that I replaced with what I hoped would be a faster Toshi A660 Win 7 (because I could not stand Vista) and decided to try to reset the A100 back to factory settings so I could give it to my sister.
I had a Recovery DVD - ROM product that took me all night to figure out how to use...
I worked on that I was restarts from the HDD instead of the DVD.

In any case, I had once the Recovery Wizard to start successfully... He said he was copying the files... copy files... for ages and it came with an error message which unfortunately I did not write down, but something like "Cannot read the file" said called the management of stormwater? and some options to RETRY or SKIP, I hit RETRY, but it came up again so I hit SKIP.

Far she returned Copying files... then he came with a message of error again, I was not to write it again, but the DVD ejected, so I then pushed in. Then he said:
    "Bootmgr missing".
    Press CTR ALT DEL

Now, I can't restart the recovery process no matter what.

    I have a defective drive?

How can I recover it now?

If I m remembering good old A100 can be recovered with recovery DVDs only. At this time Toshiba didn t have the option to drive HARD recovery.
I really put t learn how you can begin installation of HARD drive recovery. As far as I know with original Toshiba recovery image something like this is not possible.

If you have the original recovery disk use for installing the OS. Before he set BIOS to settings by default, restart the laptop, press F12 at the next startup to enter the boot menu. Put the recovery DVD in the optical disc drive, choose the CD/DVD drive in the menu and press ENTER. Optical disc drive should start reading the disk, and you should see recovery on-screen options.

Can you do what you and send feedback?

    Hello Sara

The fact is you need the device to start using recovery media. With just words: put a recovery media in the DVD drive and unplug the unit. After a few seconds the start-up and immediately press C and keep it down for 10 or 15 seconds.

This will force the device to use DVD drive as the first boot device. When you see the activity on the screen, please follow the instructions. If you need more info on the writing of recovery procedure again.

  • I am satisfied with Vista on my Satellite A100

I'm very unhappy with my Satellite A 100 with VISTA OS,
I can't install so many programs, a multi machine (all-in-one) doesn't not work (laser, scanner, fax, photocopier) work only printer.,
Both software do not work, creator of adobe pdf, dvix players...
    Vista crashes all...

Vista is bad choice for me.
I can't uninstall Vista and install WXP because I will be pou a guarantee :(

    I'm so unhappy.

    Hello

What to say. In fact, 3rd party programs and hardware devices don t work with vista because of software compatibility issues and order! It is done and only the different device factory could change that.

You said that you can not uninstall Vista and install WXP because I'm going to lose coverage.
I put t agree with you. The installation of XP has no influence on the validity of the guarantee.
You will not lose the warranty!

I advise to use the XP as second operating system. You could install it on the second partition.
In this case, you can always use two BONES; Vista and XP.
