You say you use XP.  What is your question?  What do you mean 'conflicts with Vista?

I suggest recovery discs you order from HP for your computer.  If HP is no longer the issue of stocks you can order such a third of Recovery - Disks.com.  There are several of these companies.  If you are going to use XP, you need to install XP from scratch and this means that you need XP drivers for your brand and model.  If HP has no XP drivers on your computer you must not try to use XP on it.

Remember that Vista Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate out of Microsoft support on 10 April and there will be more updates, including critical security patches after that date.  Only Vista business and company will continue to receive updates.  You might consider this a good time to upgrade to Windows 7.  You must download and run the Windows Update Advisor once you restored Vista successfully.

    Hello Brian,.

Are you able to get into the BIOS of the machine? After pressing the power button immediately start typing to the F10 on the keyboard key.

If you are able to enter the BIOS and reset the default settings to see if that helps.

If you are not able to enter the BIOS, then you want to clear the CMOS on the motherboard. On the motherboard is a rider.

This jumper allows you to clear the Real Time Clock (RTC) RAM in the CMOS. To clear CMOS, follow these steps:

    1. turn OFF the computer and unplug the power cord.
    2. Locate the marked jumper CLR_CMOS.
    3. move the CAP from pins 1-2 (by default) to pins 2 and 3.

    4. wait 5-10 seconds, and then return the jumper on pins 1-2.
    5. you can now restart the PC.

    Hello

Assuming you are using Windows 7, try the following.

If you do not, use another PC to create a Windows 7 recovery CD.  Download the ISO relevant among the links below - if you are unsure, your laptop is listed as having a 64-bit installation...

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Windows 7 64 bit

You must use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.

Demarrer start from the rescue CD, select repair your computer and choose the command line.  When this charge, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.

    Bootrec.exe

    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    c:

    Boot CD

    BCD attrib s h - r

    Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    Bootrec /RebuildBcd

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

Remove the rescue CD and try to restart now.

    Kind regards

Can anyone recommend what to do next - have had the laptop since April 2010.

    Help

    Hey,.

To be honest I put t think that it is what you can do if you can boot in safe mode t and the same system rollback doesn't work too

So I think that you need to reinstall Windows. This means that you can use HDDrecovery from Toshiba to do this. It removes only the first partition, but it is good that you made a backup, must always be carried out.

About HARD drive recovery, you should follow the instructions here:

I did a cover several times since the portioned disk thinking I've got a nasty virus in it, I did when all the problems started. I tried everything to get this but still problems starting. At startup, it goes through the repair of windows for an hour, then tells me that there is nothing wrong, but still does not start at the top. Safe mode does not work, will of the nothingness of recovery at any time. I think just to replace the hard drive and get the: Windows 7 64 b A1NAv6PrA1 + Supp 7 recovery Kit, to do a reinstall on the new hard drive. Which will work?

  • Satellite Pro M10 primer not more

My M10 Pro Sam worked fine until yesterday. I removed the hard drive just to check the part number (that I need to install a larger capacity drive and want to make sure that I understand) and then re-inserted. Now it starts where the loading screen XP Pro (black background) who disappears, and then the screen turns white. That's what normally occurs during startup, except that there would be a cursor on the blank background for a few seconds until my desktop appears. Also, when he stopped to this white screen the the hard drive led on the front of the laptop flashes regularly all the seconds. I desperately need some data on the hard drive (and no, this is not all backed up) if I don't want to use the recovery CD which is just a ghost image (isn't). The drive is formatted in NTFS. I mention this because when I tried to use the recovery disk to check the integrity of disk there was an error message that says that the NTFS log file is not loaded. It will not answer all the mode without failure-type F8 options. I think I messed up the process somehow to remove the disc rather than physically break anything. It seems that he can read the boot partition, but not details. Can anyone suggest how to solve this problem, or worse comes to worse a way to recover the data from the drive?

    Thanks and gratitude in advance.
    Chris

    Hi Chris

If the system runs stable, you can remove the HARD drive, as many times as you want and it should have no one any influence on anything whatsoever. I deleted my Tecra HDD very often and it still works well.

Back to your question: If there is no possibility try to connect your HARD drive as external device to the other laptop or desktop computer to see if you can see and even back up all your important data.

All Toshiba laptops, I suppose, because two years have NTFS and is nothing unusual.

  • Satellite L300 - primer not

My L300 played upwards, itunes was the source of the problems. I decided to reinstall the factory settings of the F2 Setup utility that fixes everything very well.

A day later, after you have reinstalled itunes and other applications, the computer went to black screen and does not start, now, to the top. When I press F2 I get the page of the Windows boot with the key manager F8 advanced option, but when it is pressed on the screen becomes black. If no button for more than one second, he made a continuous beep loud. If I select the option diagnostic Windows memory, it works up to 99% and then freezes.
Looks like a failure of HARD drive for me?

The laptop is old warranty so not more than 20 months.

    Hi Dr_Huuffuuhhrr,

    > If I choose the option diagnostic Windows memory, it works up to 99% and then freezes.
Looks like a failure of HARD drive for me?
Do you really think that it s a HARD disk if failure memory diagnostic freezes at 99%?
Memory diagnostic tool is related to memory modules (RAM live) and no HARD drive.

Theoretically, it could b related to the RAM, if you have already reinstalled Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc.

You should check out some online shops for compatible RAM modules. You can change it yourself and as far as I know, you can find more information in your user manual. :)

  • Satellite L100 no primer not if the WiFi is enabled

    Hello

From the beginning, yesterday for the first time my husband connected its Satellite Pro L100 PSLA4E to a LCD TV using an s-video cable. Everything seems to work properly but thebackground on thedesktop had disappeared, there was just a white background combined with all the usual desktop icon. It has restarted the lappy thought it would be sort, but have not arrested the TV first. The lappy didn't start back up - just had a black screen Uni, no warning or anything like that.

A couple of friends mind technology came at this time and suggested the lappy had "lost" his display drivers, and after a lot of research has decided the only option was to reinstall everything from scratch.

I don't have the original Toshiba restore discs or recovery discs so downloaded all the drivers from this site. Now the laptop won't boot if the wifi is enabled. This model has a network card Atheros - at least the lable on low said contains Atheros AR5BMB5.

If I turn the wifi on off switch the lappy starts every time, however, if the switch is on it will not start even in safe mode. If I turn on wifi after windows THAT XP has started up the lappy freezes and keyboard etc are out of order and I have to force a shutdown by pressing the power button.

So far I have spent hours this trawling and other websites to try to find clues that could help.

Does anyone have any suggestions as Christmas is likely to be hell if her husband has not his lappy to play with!

Thank you very much in anticipation.

    Hello tree

After almost 10 years with Toshiba computers laptops, I would say that I have never heard of something like this. To me, this seems incredible.
The best solution for you is to install the OS by using original Toshiba recovery image. If you do not have one you can order it.

What you can try is to enter the BIOS at startup settings. Set it to default settings and check if the problem persists.

  • HP Compaq DC7800 does not start properly (fan is going crazy)

Yesterday I wanted to add a TV tuner card to my DC7800, but after that, I saw that the power of the tuner (no PCI) card had disappeared. I decided to shut down the computer and run it. I would work out the power cable later.

Since then, the computer does not start really. Looks like it starts and the fan starts to turn. After some time, the fan goes completely wild! There is no beeps of the main card. So, it seems that BIOS does not either.

    Please help me!

My apologies for not responding earlier!

I have fixed the problem. I removed the firewire card and then started the pc. After that I insterted the card firewire again and both times the computer still worked.

Probably what happened is this: I had the tunercard connected to the firewire card, but no power supply again. Most likely the tunercard was draining the energy of the firewire card and this way the power supply of the computer has become a sort of State course...
