Product key sticker not readable

Hello

Need help with my product key sticker.  My friend gave me his HP Netbook that has Windows 7 Starter edition is installed.  The sticker that has the code on it is attached at the bottom of the computer, and therefore, I can't read the third channel of information...  I can read as follows: ABCDE - SON-JK? MNOPQ-RSTUV.   The? are at the door of the letters on the product key sticker.    I found the CD key in the registry, but that the CD key is different from what is on the sticker, because I think it is came with Windows 7 Starter and Windows update it took for SP1.  How can I do as I want this info before upgrading the operating system in case it is needed.

Thank you
MM

Hello

We cannot help you find what is the product key.

We can ARICI give you information to help you reinstall and activate this operating system of Windows Starter.

As it's a Netbook, it shouldn't have a DVD player.

But it will be a Partition to reinstall Windows 7 from recovery.

You can do this passing through HP Recovery Manager or by pressing F11 at STARTUP.

It is all explained in the link to HP

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?DocName=c01867418&cc=us&destPage=document&LC=en&tmp_docname=c01867418

The product key that you found in the operating system's product key which is used on several machine during the production of the factory and is useless for purposes of resettlement.

It's nothing to do with the SP1.

See you soon.

My partner has an Acer laptop running Windows Vista Basic 32-bit. He needs a complete reinstallation of Windows because there a lot of problems now. The problem is the sticker of the product key on the laptop is often illegible. I tried to use the Magic Jelly Bean finder key to resolve this issue, but the key does not match what the letters which are readable on the sticker. I tried this on my own laptop and had the same problem (sticker key did not key on the computer). Neither laptops have had Windows reinstalled before. I learned that the keys posted by Magic Jelly Bean are in fact license keys of Volume factory installed by the OEM rather than found on the stickers product keys and Volume license keys cannot be used to reinstall Windows.

We just need a way to recover the product key that was on the sticker. We are not ready to buy a new copy of Windows that we already have a license (through the purchase of the laptop) key.

PS I remember that I helped my father after reinstall Windows XP. We tried both the key on the sticker of his PC and the one that we found on the PC itself (Volume key). • Product key is not readable

    Hello
by looking at the label of the product key on my laptop it is not more readable as quite a long time since the device in use and it is carried away.

Somehow, it happened that a virus took place and I luckily able to use HARD drive pre-installed for a recovery so re-installed outside. But now, I have a problem with my activation Win7 Home Premium, even if officially purchased before. The original installation media seems not to be available on the disc more and even if I tried to use my previously created recovery image, the victory is not always enabled and that the version of 30 day´s waiting for activation.

Is it possible to get the personal touch from somewhere, for example based on the serial number of the laptop or so, pls?
    Thank you, Patricia

    Hello Patricia

Most of the new laptops comes with the pre-installed operating system, what we called recovery image. This recovery image is the version of the OS that includes a product key and after a new installation, first connect to the internet, it will be enabled, so you will have legal version of the OS.

Sticker product key on your laptop is just evidence that your laptop has been offered with the valid license code. This product key is for the version of the OS that you have with your machine and it cannot be used by any other installation of Windows so there is no possibility of this key to be ordered separately.

To be honest, I don't understand what the problem is here, but after installation of image recovery connect your computer to the internet and the preinstalled version will be activated automatically control panel > system > Windows activation status.

  • Windows 7 used product key sticker

The product key of Windows 7 on the sticker attached to the bottom of my laptop is worn and not readable.  The HARD drive crashed and I need to install a new one.  I can't boot from the existing HARD drive - but I can retrieve files from the disk using Recuva.  Is there a way I can get the product from a file recovered key?  Can I use the HP model and serial number to find the key to OEM product somewhere?  I'll need when I install the new drive.

    Hello:

Unfortunately there is no way to get a replacement product key or to retrieve the key from the HARD disk.

Even if you could, you wouldn't be able to use to activate the windows installation.

Your only option short of buying a new operating system to full version (OEM or retail) is to order a recovery disc for your PC game, if they are still available.

AFAIK, a product key is not required when you use the HP factory recovery disks.  I've never had to enter a product key when using them.

Please look at the recovery disc guide commands on the link below.

  • My windows product key is not valid.

    Hello

My windows product key is not valid. It shows that I don't ' have a genuine windows, and so I entered the product key to activate

and its not to validate. It was workiing before, just do not know what happened.

    Help, please.

    Thank you!

I wanted to tell the name of version (e.g. Windows 7 Home Premium) printed on the sticker.  Is the version currently installed on the PC of the same version?  Check in Control Panel > system page.  The number is the ID of the product that is not supposed to be the same as the key.

If the versions are identical, then the problem is a bad character entered, almost always.

If the product key is readable, then you can certainly use it to Clean install Windows Upgrade 10. Look over the steps and ask in return if you have any questions.

Product key that you see at the bottom belongs to the version you got with this laptop. You will use it not if you use the CD of Microsoft facilities for the installation of the OS.
If you use standard Microsoft Pro Windows XP CD with Service Pack 3, then enter the product key that you got with this CD of facilities and everything will be OK.

  • Lost for reactivation product key sticker.

    Separated from this thread.

    1. can not activate this certificate number of product in my pc activation key.

I could not activate my Vista after I am reformatting my PC because the product key sticker missing 2 alphanumeric numbers.  Help, please.

    Hello

Try a torch and a magnifying glass to read the missing letters/numbers.

Or take a picture of the thumbnail and blow it up on the computer

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

The methods above resettlement generally do not require allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

  • Vista Home Premium product key is not accepted after the repair, in which the computer was stripped of the same Windows software

Due to this fact, I have no protection, either. • Vista product key sticker is worn. How can I get code?

my friend has a Toshiba Satellite phone that she bought from a retailer in the United Kingdom. Vista stopped booting and I checked the hard drive that has no bad sectors. It seems that I need to reinstall Vista, but the product key sticker is affixed to the underside of the computer and some of the numbers are worn. Looking carefully with a magnifying glass class I seem to have 21 out of what looks like 24 digits.

Anyone know how I can get the rest of the code? I have all the other codes from beneath the laptop. This includes the serial number of the laptop and the number that is greater than the activation key and bar codes.

In any case a round of applause for the one who puts the sticker under the laptop, where it must obviously be carried away.

The activation key will be 5 sets of 5 characters.  You write what you can now.
