• How can I use DFProfi II to monitor a gateway?

  I am a total newbie to Profibus, so forgive me please, if this is a silly question:

  I have a Simatic S7 400 control (via Profibus) an application robot on a factory floor. The profibus network also contains a slave of the gateway to RS-232, which communicates with a LabVIEW RT image processing system. Basically the gateway (HMS-Anybus) is nothing else than a shared memory space which is accessible from the Profibus - both RS-232, which seems to me a very simple and effective solution.

  What I would do in order to investigate the problems of synchronization (existing?) in the system is the following:

  I have a DF-Profi II PXI rack and want to connect to the Profibus network and use LabVIEW to watch/journal communication between S7 and RS-232 on the bridge.

  Is this possible? Can someone give me some advice how configure the DF-Profi II? It should be mode "master", wouldn't it?

  So that would be 2 masters (S7 + DF-Profi) on the bus then?

• RT code works since the LabVIEW environment, but not when I create and deploy

  I think there are a lot of reasons why this can happen, but I can't seem to pin one.

  I have a classic controls program that runs on a cRIO. We recently decided to change the communication of a ProfiBus comsoft on Ethernet/IP card. (Industrial Protocol for Allen Renaud automata). For various reasons, we put the fuse in communication in the control loop.

  Now when I run the LabVIEW now, it works fine. I can see data going to and coming from the controller. I can sniff packets and they look good. I get about 30 milliseconds on the loop, which is long, but since I am running in the IDE, I think is not bad. (In other words, I get data in and out every 30 milliseconds).

  When I compile and set the binary on the cRIO, it breaks. I can still sniff packets, but what I'm getting now, is that all traffic to the controller of read requests. My write requests are missing. In addition to reading queries are poorly trained. Rather than ask 43 items in a table, they ask 1.

  A test that I tried was to disable the read request. For the binary file, I don't see any traffic. For the IDE, I see write queries.

  I use LV 2009 SP1. I have the version of NOR-Labs of the Ethernet/IP driver. (We have a request for a quote, but do not have the official driver.) In the meantime, faster I get this done, the happier everyone will be ;-)

  Any suggestions?

• Unable to set DF Profi II as a master - slave Auto SUR?

  I am trying to configure a Profi II PCI DF as a master device. I'm unable to do as it appears that it may be on automatic mode Slave.

  When I try to use the Comsoft Configurator II to download the master-slave on the PCI card, I get this error:

  

  I then tried to use a .vi (DFP2_Initialistion.vi) file to set the PCI as the master.

  Configure it as slave works very well, as shown here:

  However, when I use the same file to set the PCI to a master, I get this error (error 18: there is no such thing as LabView - Pen):

  

  I guess mistakes Comsoft Configurator II and LabView are linked and could be due to the Auto-esclave being enabled on the PCI mode. I can't find anything which touches on the way of AutoSlave in the documentation, does anyone have information on how to solve this problem?

• How to set up and test the Profibus network, using the number of piece OR interface master/slave 780161-01

  I bought this card of NEITHER. I've been in contact with Comsoft which apparently is the developer of this Council. I used the Configurator II to try to build the network. The GSD file for my slave is entered. I can also see the GSD file for the master. There seems to be no obvious way to test the bus of the configuration tool. I tried the Express VI provided by Comsoft. Nothing happens. I have a purchased with endings installed profibus cable. I know that the works of cable as a another division has an another Profibus master that works with this cable how to configure correctly for you? How to test?

  The problem has been resolved. In the configuration tool, after the slave device is connected to the network, all of the attributes listed under it must also be dragged over and placed in the list that appears. Never seen this step in the documentation. Once this has been done the configuration tool could initialize and find the slave.

• What device drivers OR are required to use the configurator with CompactRIO Profibus Master-Slave device?

  I'm trying to deploy the software driver for a portable production that will allow technicians to download configurations of profibus for CompactRIO profibus DP master-slave cards.  I know I need support VISA and MAX in order to communicate with the device when it is in Slot 1.

  I have a Windows XP computer I've used in the past for this and a 7 32-bit Windows development machine that can do as well.  I guess I would need OR-Rio installed and more MAX and VISA, but I run in RIO the right software to install on this machine.  Until I dig a hole more far than necessary can someone point me in the right direction of what is needed to install?

  My development platform is LabVIEW 2010 with SP1.  The development and the production laptop computer work all the two 32-bit Windows 7.  The development machine has the following (and other) software:

  LabVIEW 2010 (RT, FPGA modules) SP1

  MAX 5.3.3

  NI-VISA 5.2

  NOR-RIO 3.6

  We use Comsoft Configurator II 1.2.37

  I understand the suggestion about Profibus shake appeal reviewer, but I never mentioned the module Profibus - only the NI Compact RIO driver software.

  I checked that the key and it is present and correct.  Later during some additional tests, I'm done with several other installers throw similar messages.  I've seen CVIRTEDIR and MAXAFWDIR as well.

  I thought at this stage there was another really obscure registry entry who standing things upwards, so I tried to install it (s) even on another unit of the same configuration management.  Installed LabVIEW Runtime Engine 2010 SP1f5, NI-VISA 5.2 (included OR MAX 5.3) and NOR-RIO 3.6.1 and everything works well for use with Configurator II Version 1.2 (September 2011 version 1.09 interface Comsoft TCP sockets, includes LabVIEW 8.6 run time engine).

  In the past I could have resorted to the use of MSI-Blast to clean all the related registry NOR entered, but I couldn't get my hands on a copy and uninstall NOR has not removed the remains (it seems).

• COMSOFT Profibus driver incompatible with LV2015

  I wanted to examine Profibus screws, so I installed the driver from this site (unzipped the file and then installed, finally restarting the PC): http://www.ni.com/download/ni-profibus-for-pcipxi-1.3/2958/en/

  My system: Windows7 x 64 LabVIEW 2015 SP1 32 bit version (also installed LV2016 32-bit on the same machine).

  After installing the driver, the screws are still not present in LabVIEW. Others have the same problem, see "review" part at the end of this doc: http://www.ni.com/tutorial/6959/en/

  This means that we must use LabVIEW 2014 if we use Profibus driver?

  I have a question about the Profibus Module of the C series.  The module works in all cRIO chassis, but it is a requirement that the C Series module inserted into the slot 1 of the cRIO?  Can it be inserted in any other location as long as the following location is open?

  The module is officially supported in the first slot with a slot open beside him. We have this requirement for reasons of heat. The profibus module generates a lot of heat and can shake any analog steps in modules next to him.

  If the module is a slave, there are screws that allow the VI to be used in locations other than the location 1.  It is not in the palette but available from VILib directly. C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012\vi.lib\addons\Comsoft.lib\cRIO PB

  In addition, a patch for the Configurator allows to search for devices and other slot then 1. Copy the xml file attached to the following directory:

  C:\Program Files (x 86) \Comsoft GmbH\Configurator II\XML

  Restart Configurator should now allow to search for all the slots on the frame

  I'm not familiar with Hilscher Profibus gateways, but I'm sure that they provide an OPC server that can be accessed through functions LabVIEW DataSocket or much better performance through LabVIEW DSC. There is also a chance that Hilscher provides a DLL or same screws LabVIEW database API, but you should check with Hilscher.

  From my own experience I recommend to use a gateway Comsoft FNL . Comsoft is very experienced with LabVIEW and they provide a fast and reliable VI-interface for all their interfaces Profibus.
  I don't want to bash products Hilscher, but as I have no experience with their products (unlike the Comsoft products), I can't give a competent answer on their API.

• cRio profibus - configuration download does not

  I received a cRio 9074 and a PB of cRrio OR the test configuration module and see if we want to use it for a future project. So far this configuration gives me a lot of trouble and I came on I can't fix on my own. I want to run the master module.

  While the selection of drive in the Configurator works, I am unable to download any configuration, I have create with the comsoft on the module Configurator. The program always just stops giving me an error like attached log. I have updated all the required software and recommended in all the post and I could find the documents but without success.

  I'm under the following specifications:

  chassis: cRio-9074

  module: cRio PB master/slave

  NOR-MAX 5.5.0f0

  NOR-RIO 13.0

  NI-VISA 5.4 (with the security settings defined as requested in the installation instructions)

  Configurator3 Comsoft 2.1.4

  CRIO PB GSD 1.00 (that's what the States file GSD, same dough, I installed cRIO_PB_Master_2.0.1)

  Win7SP1

  I turn off all firewalls and spin the cRio in a local ethernet.

  I have really no idea what to do more.

  I think I know the problem, the module cannot have a downloaded configuration when it is in autoslave mode. This is explained in the manual, but the error thrown is not useful. Run the master sample to take the slave out of the mode of autoslave. After that, you should be able to download the configuration.

• PROFIBUS in Labview 2011

  I recently updated my Labview from 2010 to 2011. And then I tried to install the latest driver for Profibus (DF_PROFI_II_LV_1.36.2.zip) that I downloaded from (http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2687/lang/en). Release date: 10/10/2011

  Normally, this extension must be installed to the location following (C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\vi.lib\addons). However, I did find it in the folder "addons" Labview 2011. There never to this question? To resolve this problem, should I just copy Comsoft.lib in the folder "addons" from 2010 to 2011? Something else I have to do?

  I t looks like that it detected the LV 2010 version as the current and did not install anything in 2011. You should be able to copy files on the same path mentioned.

  I want to program Profibus from a Visual C++ application. Previously, we used a map CP5613 SIEMENS, however, it is not well supported. Using OPC servers etc. is too complicated, that's why we use a NI Profibus card, if possible. NOR supported the files .h and .libs to send acyclic data to certain addresses, the slots and the index?

  There is a c api for the card. However, it is developed by comsoft and we can't distribute. Your best bet is to get directly in touch with Comsoft. If you have problems, I can help you with that.

  I am trying to install the drivers of comsoft after my installation of project, on the machine where LabVIEW is not installed, but it gives the error attached.

  I held the profibus drivers be installed on the machine because I need Configurator II. Installation will install configuration but it gives the error attached.

  In the installer, I already added LabVIEW Runtime, OR serial, NI VISA etc, but its still does not.

  Does comsoft PDS required driver on the system?

  I have a new drive hard because my old operating system from hard disk (windows) is not booting. So I have a new hard drive with the new mode of system (windows). What I want is I want to search the places.sqlite file in my older hard disk which is connected as slave to my computer partition. How can I find places.sqlite in my slave drive I can restore my favorites in the new hard drive with the new operating system.

• Movement of the bookmarks in XP to Windows 7 primary drive slave drive?

  I've updated my computer by moving my XP OS on a slave drive and now have OS Win 7 professionals in the main C drive.

  When I went to look for it for the location of the bookmarks in the XP slave drive, I couldn't find the places that were usually listed. I did the hidden files option. You simply don't know where my favorites are gone. I found the file modzilla and it contained everything except bookmarks.

  The problem is resolved. I had to go through the XP mode in order to get the Json file which I need and bingo it brought back all my favorites. I used Cor - el solution with an extra step to solve this very specific problem through the XP mode.
