Project Explorer multiple vi Omnium

Hello.

I have a strange problem where if I open a VI in the VI project window opens another too.

How can I prevent that to happen?

The hierarchy shows the 2nd VI is inferior to the first.

Thank you

This setting could also be in the Properties dialog box of the VI of the Subvi that opens where 'See the front loading' is checked.

I was watching this first.  It is under the appearance of the windows and then customize.

  • Project Explorer fails with vi (displayed as file folder)

    Hi people of LabVIEW,.

I have a behavior very strang of the Project Explorer. (LV 8.5.1f4)

He has a problem with one of my voluntary initiatives.

I stripped the VI downwards until it is now empty, but the problem persists.

(I have several projects, I use the original file, so my problem multiplies )

When I add this VI to an empty project, one of my folders (Entwicklung) does not appear as a folder anymore but as a VI (file).

This seems to happen in the fourth folder above the file.

In addition: if I copy this file in a directory with less then 3 files and try to add it to a LabVIEW project crashes.

If it's in the third case, the driverletter is Eurorest as a file.

The software works well even in application, but this effect results, that I cannot save a project to a new location! (Even the recommended method to save it in an earlier version, and then select 8.5 as version does not work)

I need to create a package source code for a customer the first time now, and I am unable to do so.

(I've always said that they will be open pandoras box if they provide code source for a client, but who care about what is in my opinion I'm just a stupid engineer)

Please someone would be so kind and try to understand what is the problem with this VI?

I tried already and suggests it has to do with its relative path, but I do not see a possibility to access directly.

    Thanks in advance,

    Best regards

  • How to create a Global Variable through the Project Explorer

    Hello world!

I know how to create a global variable (in a vi through the range of functions...).

but I'm missing a way to create one via the Project Explorer.

It's a missing feature or just this documentation (and the intuition of myself) are missing?

    It would be very convenient.

THX for your time and hope that answers.

    jwscs

Right click on my computer > new > new... > select Global Variable.

EDIT: although I agree with Gerd (he probably wondering why you need so we can recommend a better way ), I rarely use them in easy to write once - read many applications such as security levels overall program at initialization (VER) to read later, but NOT modified.  I know it would be better to make a good class, functional Global Variable (FGV) or a motor Action (AE) but globals ARE practical and safe IF used wisely.

  • Project Explorer can not detect my PXI-7952R

I use PXI-7952R and SMU-8115 in a chssis SMU-1071. When I opened MAX, my PXI7952R camera seems to be detected (if I'm not mistaken). However, when I try to open a new FPGA project, the Project Explorer can't detect it. is this a configuration problem or the device?

PS: I am really new in this field.

If you want to add a remote target of a project, you right-click on the project and select new > objectives and devices like you were doing it. However if you want to add a FPGA device, you select the target who has access to the FPGA, just right click and select new > targets and devices. In this case, you should be good by clicking in the project is 'my computer '.

Also make sure you have installed NI FlexRIO.

  • Clicking on connect on my RT goal in Project Explorer gives a conflict error

When I right click on my aim of RT in the Project Explorer and select Connect I get the same error of conflict such as this article.

"This VI is part of a startup in real time Application.  All the screws on the target will be closed if you choose to apply and continue with deployment. »

However, already disable Autodeploy Variables checked. I want to just connect to the startup, not delivered application to zero and redeployment. Why this conflict going on?

When you run an application of the RT, or set screw to run when starting on an RT target, you cannot connect to the target of the RT in the development without the application environment or these screws however, you can Configure the target of RT to share a remote façadeand connect to that. You can also enable remote debugging.

I hope that one of these links helps to answer your question; Please report if you want more details.

  • Project Explorer: organizing items from files

Unfortunately, I do not know the first thing about using Project Explorer. Why seems to be two parallel systems for organizing my work?

Should I concentrate on the Organization logically parts of a project as elements? or as files?

Or should I have two different approaches to the Organization, using one with the elements and the other with files?

Or if I set one of them, Project Explorer will automatically organize the other must match? For example I organize items and then let Project Explorer create or manage autopopulating files to imitate?

I read things like "Best practices for management NI LabVIEW Applications using the Project Explorer", but I keep getting lost in the details like conflict and not see the forest for the trees.

I'm either working by myself or, sometimes, with another person. We do not use source code control. I often create copies of everything and store them outside the search area of the LV so I can go back to earlier versions if necessary. I know, I want to do with the Project Explorer includes the creation of executable files and things that I can distribute (which so far I made on small projects without real organization, have all the files in the same folder), and also painful household as remove all obsolete screws who no longer have the appellants. I hear people praise Project Explorer so probably if I'm the point of it I would get a lot more use.

So, if the Project Explorer fans could point me in the right direction, I'm hearing everything and would be very grateful! Thank you!

It is up to you to find the best method for the use of the Project Explorer. What I found to be most useful for basic information is the following:

    1. I save the screws, I work with in a local folder on disk

    2. in the Project Explorer, I am usually at the display of elements

    3. I add my high level screw (right click on desktop > Add > file...) and the Project Explorer will automatically fill with my subVIs dependencies

It gives me a small window (Explorer) which contains a list of my screws of high level, and I can access any subVIs in dependencies folder.  I could create virtual folders (right click on desktop > New > virtual folder) to classify and organize my screws more far.

That leaves me with all my screws stored in the same location on the disk and a central access point I can handle.

Usually, I only use the display of the files in order to find the physical location of my files, but since I saved them all in the same folder, it is generally not a big consideration.

  • build specifications have disappeared in the 2012 LabVIEW Project Explorer

I have LabVIEW 2012 Professional Edition and I checked in to National Instruments License Manager that the professional development system, and the Application Builder are both "green".

I noticed that when I open an existing project or create a new project, the construction specifications section disappeared!

No idea what would cause this to disappear?

    Thank you
    Fab

    FabiolaDelaCueva,

In the Project Explorer, try looking in the framework project--> filters see and make sure that the construction specifications is checked. Here is a link to a knowledge base article OR that might be useful:

  • Is there a way to keep the libraries Project Explorer to 'save '?

We use a source control tool (accurev) for storage of our common libraries.  When you pull a library of accurrev to use in a new project, accurev places a lock file read-only on the new library, which we want, we don't want a developer accidentally change their local copy of the library.  However, when you add the library (a lvlib) and click on "Save all" in the Project Explorer, the Project Explorer tries to save libraries that are read-only and barfs errors everywhere.  You can leave all the errors and click on 'save without guests' but it is very annoying and slows down development.  Is there a way to tell Labview is not to save the library, only the screw?

    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, no, as far as I know. There is an option for multiplex unalterable screws as locked, but it does not extend to libraries. You can post a suggestion in the forum to exchange ideas of LabVIEW.

  • Project Explorer does not open.

I'm using LabVIEW Professional Development System Version 8.0.1. Any attempt to open the Project Explorer causes LabVIEW close. If I select the executable version in tools it causes LabVIEW close. Any suggestions?

Reference items have been a great help. Configuration Manager NOR does not begin. I had to finally delete the MAX configuration file and start over. Project Explorer now works. Thank you very much!!!

  • Problem with Build Spec in the Project Explorer

When I right click on the specifications of construction within the Project Explorer I don't get the option "install".  Also, if I select one of the option present "Source Distribuiton" I am unable to select all source files - even if I have source files in my Project Explorer.  The file Source "project files" box has a dimmed icon from my computer but no sign "+".

    What Miss me?

Are you sure you have professional development system and not basic or full?

  • Police in the Project Explorer problem

I'm under LabVIEW 2013 SP1 and I just installed DAQmx 9.8. After installation, it seems that something has changed with my fonts throughout LabVIEW. Fonts keep intersect or cropped. This applies to everything from the start screen, in the Project Explorer to some of my VI font sizes. I went and checked my settings 'System of the police' and 'Application' but does not seem to solve the problem. See the attached picture

He ended by referring to the display settings of Windows 7. For example do a right-click on the desktop, select Personalize, and then select "display". The window scaling system at Large and I had to change in the medium.

Perhaps, I got a quick access key when installing DaqMX. Very strange, but now its fixed.

  • XControls not found in the Project Explorer

In accordance with the LABVIEW help section create you an XControl by go to your project and in the project, right click on Explorer window workstation and select new' XControl in the context menu. The problem is that it is not available in my menu. I have that control, library, Variable and class.

What license level LabVIEW do you have? XControls are included in professional and above, then you will not be able to create one in basic or Full.

  • Do a right click in the Project Explorer is sometimes slow

I have a big project of the AF with a lot of classes and libraries. I only really use these two (lvclass and lvlib) to structure and organize the project. Right click on VI sometimes takes a terribly long time to load, say up to 10 seconds, depending on the library/class. It appears to be vaguely related to how many things the owners have libraries/classes. What exactly is causing this loading time? Any ideas how I could get rid of this significant disadvantage?

Here is more information and a few thoughts:

    • Windows 8.1
    • LabVIEW 2015 / 32 bit (I can't say for sure, but I think that I had no such problem on earlier versions 2014 and 2013)
    • Mass of compilation of all of the project (taken as 2 hours) had no effect

Thanks for all the ideas and resources. I'm very, very happy to announce that this particular fix https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-44159 (fix for the issue of AF project provider performance) made my problem disappear. Time has been reduced from ~ 7 sec less than a half second. Wonderful! That, to me, proves false the idea that the mere fact of having hundreds of classes or a large AF would make your current IDE experience terrible.
