  I got an eMachine who was 'slow' that my client wanted cleaned and accelerated. It is Vista Home Basic (without Service Pack yet) and has two users, an administrator and a Standard. Antivirus is Norton. The reason why it has been slow is that she only had installed 512 MB of Ram and a part of which was used by the video. The only spy/advertising software he had was about 250 cases of MyWebSearch which I cleaned. I added just an another 512 MB of ram and has greatly improved the speed.   Service Pack 2 cured it. I think that SP 2 updated IE 7 to 8. I never could see what was originally in it because it does not open. But it's IE 8 now.

  Hi Joan57,

  Hpswp_bho.dll is a ColaBrowser.dll belonging to HP Smart Web Printing to Hewlett-Packard.

  You will need to uninstall it check if it works and if it works contact HP for more information.

  You get an error message if you try to open Internet Explorer or nothing happens to you?

  Have you also tried another browser like Firefox? Check this box!

  Normally with the settings everything should work properly. Have you installed a software after Windows 7 recovery?
  Did you use HARD drive recovery, or how exactly to get Windows 7?

• By clicking on the icon of Internet Explorer does not open that is to say, don't copy icon on the desktop. No other icon has this problem.

  (1) what exactly happens when you try to open Internet Explorer to the modern user interface?

  (2) has received no message/error code?

  (3) what are the changes to the system prior to the question?

  (4) you are able to access other applications for the splash screen?

I have clients who want to be able to open the files directly on their desktop, without first drag the files to a browser. The AIR is not an option for me.
