after update to XP media center units Vista remote control
Just upgraded to Vista Home Premium to XP. Got a Packard Bell with RF for the Media Center remote control, worked fine with XP, but is no longer compatible with Vista. I checked the usb driver for the usb XF-10 rf remote receiver and it is fine, uninstalled and reinstalled it. Handset was working fine a few days ago. I also went in 'Administrator', 'services' and then active HID, but it still does not work. Media works well, but it would be nice to have the operation of the remote control! Not particularly computer, simply suggestions please! Thank you, Nick.Hi Nicolas,
I suggest you to check the battery. Additionally, make sure that you have installed the right drivers for you Consumer IR Port.

How to change for the Media Center guide download time?
How can I change the Media Center program guide download time? My computer comes out of hibernation to download data at 12:15 and to sit down again it idling (for several hours) until she was put into hibernation or stop. Static IP remote access for the media center
I NMH410 work through a WRT610N router. My ports are configured for static IP access. Seems to just going through www.ciscomediahub.com does not work well for me.
Can someone provide the 'exact' URL I would enter in order to access my media center?
Documentation of assistance through Cisco shows: https://Wan_IP_Address but that doesn't seem to work. The demand is just there and finally once outside.
To everyone:
Apparently, I discovered and corrected the problem that I had with 'Remote access' to my Media Hub.
Somehow, there are two configurations of router that had to be done. On two port forwarding configurations has been necessary and once allowed me to access the media center.
It seems that my ISP has a 192.168.x.x address router that was different from the address of my router 192.168.x.x. It is on the home router when I incoming and make changes to the information of port forwarding. The fact that I was getting an error message indicating that I wasn't even reached my router alerted me to the fact that my ISP was blocking remote access. In the end, that's where my problem was discovered.
Translate:
If you have problems to access your media "at a distance" pole through its IP address (and not by the cisco media center), make sure that you configure the ports of the router specified by your Internet provider address, as well as the ports of the router that you have on your network home.
I have forwarded port 443 on the two addresses of router port, and I can now access my media hub remotely. Now if I can't play videos remotely, I'll be set. This leads to another problem that I'll send it in another thread.
Thanks for the help and suggestions of each.

Open the Media Center window when opening other programs
Original title: window Media Center
I can't open a program or a game. Whenever I clik on game or program, WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER icon opens.
It seems that the .lnk and .exe file association I messed up somehow. Running the .lnk (shortcut) / difficulties of association .exe (executable) should solve the problem.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV600 originally shipped with Windows XP. I did a clean install of Vista, which resulted in my remote no longer works. It runs on my laptop. But the contoller stopped working in Media Center window. And it does not turn off the computer. So basically so that Vista runs the remote is useless. I hope that someone a lot smarter than me can help you. I looked on the forums of computer manufacturers and known issues advice with no luck. I have visited many sites looking for a solution. Someone has an idea? This problem is fixable?
Check again - Device Manager this time select the option for "Show hidden devices'in view in the menu bar."
It can show the unit.
Other than that, you might be better off trying forums for Toshiba http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/index.jspa

I have a Windows 7 Media Center box, and an Xbox 360 that I use as an Extender. The two connections to the same wired router. Everything worked fine until I went on my old router (failed) and put in a WNDR4300. After the new router has been installed, I didn't have the Extender work then, deleted from the media Center and re - he added. It worked but after I shut off/started the xbox, no link. It is repetitive: I can make a new connection, but then it didn't reconnect after reboot of the xbox.
Check/change:
-J' changed to a static IP xbox
-There is no part 3 a / v or a firewall on the support center
-L' on the media center network adapter is 'home '.
-The network card on the media center * fact * show the xbox 360
-The event log after the xbox is restarted shows:
event ID 538: installation of media center extender does not like the Extender has been detected on the network, but for the Extender upnp search failed (timed out after 20000ms)
-How long before it, I have found that the service IS running upnp device host (and set to auto)
-J' checked 4300 router wndr and UPnP is enabled (advertising set to 30 minutes)
question, any ideas what configuration will solve this problem?

0 x 80070011 when you try to add the Media Center of Windows 8 Pro
I am attempting to add Windows Media Center to my installation of Windows 8 Pro but get an error message saying something with evil. Looking at the logs, I see that the problem is "DoTransmogrify failed due to error 0 x 80070011" which indicates there is a problem with my user directory is on a drive other than the Windows folder. Since I have an SSD relatively low to start I moved my user to a much larger hard drive folder. Should not directory junctions work the same as if the file was on the same drive? Is there a work around short replacing my user on the c: folder?
Thank you!
I had a similar problem with window 8 RSAT tools that lead me to this post in my search for a solution. I'm not positive that this will solve your problem but it worked for me. Because the Setup program does not seem as follows symbolic links that point to different disks, I simply said the installer the real location of the profiles it is updated during the installation. Open the registry editor and navigate to:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileListChange the location of the "Default", 'ProfilesDirectory' and 'Public' StringValues to point to the real target of your users path a symlink on drive c. (IE. "D:\Users\*).Run the Media Center SetupChange back the path in the registry.(I'm not positive that this is necessary, as you'd still have the symbolic link on your C drive as points that anything using this path to the right folder, I just changed it back to %SystemDrive%\* so that I could test to see if the RSAT tools has always worked without the explicit path used in the registry.)Good luck. I hope this works. -

had to reinstall windows for the 7th time, windows shows now my code is invalid
Windows 7 supports the reactivation by Internet up to 5 times after reinstalling, but you will need to use the phone activation after that:
How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".
(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.
(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.
