protect high voltage of the PCI

Hello!

I intend to use an NI PCI-6040E coupled with BNC-2110 connector block by a cabel SH EP 68-68 to measure the power of a photodetector. I found that sometimes the photocell exceeds the input range of PCI card signal (~ 5 volts). I just measure with a voltmeter. Is there someone to help how I can protect these materials? I will use another material of control of input data? or is it possible to make a limitation by Labview software?

Thank you in advance,

FA

the correct answer depends on which line you connect your photo detector.  Tea TREE is a few circutry protection of the entry on the device.  you want to stay within the limits as you can read in the data sheet

You can use external devices to limit the voltage on the photodetector.

There is no way whatsoever that any software may limit an external voltage source.

  • Measure the voltage and the temperature simultaneously with PCI-6281

Measure the voltage and the temperature at the same time at the same time. However, when I put the voltage and temperature in a loop, the acquisition of voltage is significantly delayed. When I put the voltage and temperature in two different loop, none of them works.  There is an example in aid of Labview as shown. This structure works fairly quickly? Assuming that the DAQ cards can handle it, you can set an analog trigger for the channel of the tension.  Then you just X samples to get your 100us data value.  Keep the last sample.

  • PCI-6120 noise performance is higher than in the data sheet.

I use the PCI-6120 card in warp mode, at 1 MHz. everything works, but there seems to be a discrepancy between the measured acoustic performance (with 50 ohm or short) and performance between quotes in the datasheet, 6120/6115. Here is my comparison.

City of range AI N + Q (uV) measured N (uVrms)

    +/-42  V          550                               1410

    +/-20  V          220                               600

    +/-10  V          110                               280

    +/-5    V          69                                 140

    +/-2    V          31                                 60

    +/-1    V          18                                 30

    +/-0.5 V          10                                 20

    +/-0.2 V          5.1                                15

It seems to me that N + Q data are shifted a range of analog input as numbers are good but not on the beaches of right. For example, the range V cited 42 N + Q agrees with the V 20 measured noise range. Everyone knows this?

So what you measured here is actually the system noise, who we spec on page 4 of the specification, uncertainty about the noise, which we spec on page 3.  The noise of the system for the PCI-6120 is shown below.  To calculate the noise from the system of these specs, you use the following formula:

(LSBrms system noise) * (Input Range) /(2^Resolution) = Vrms system noise

Thus, for the 42V range, noise specified in LSBrms is 1.2 LSBrms.  The input range is 84 (±42V is total 84 volts).  The resolution is 16 bit.  So:

    1.2* ((84) /(2^16)) = 0.001538 V = 1 538 uV

For each of the beaches, the sound of the system is:

    Range LSBS Sound system (µV)
    42 1.2 1538.09
    20 1.2 732.42
    10 1.2 366.21
    5 1.5 228,88
    2 1.7 103.76
    1 2 61.04
    0.5 2.2 33,57
    0.2 2.8 17.09

    Hope that answers your question.

  • Need help with ordering high voltage

    Hello

NI PCIe-6341 card is already installed. And I want to order a power supply voltage (CZE1000R) to generate the high voltage (DC). The goal is to fully control the high voltage. For example, the voltage can chang from zero to 30 kV in 5 or 10 seconds and be stable to 30 kV to 30 minutes and then go down smoothly at 20 kV in 5 minutes and finally back to zero. Could someone help me with this task? Thank you.

  • Negative outputs analog of the PCI-6229

I appreciate this question may seem a little primary for some of you, but I spent hours looking for an answer with no luck.

I have a card from e/s NI PCI-6229 M series I want to use to order a proportional hydraulic valve. The valve in question takes input in the range from - 10v to + 10v, which fortunately is the flow of the IO card range.

My question is this; in order to generate a negative voltage (-) through the valve, what I need to connect to the two terminals (AO0 and AO1) AO or can I connect to a single AO (AO0) and the ground terminal (ALWAYS)? Or to say it another way, can the material generate a lower voltage to ground thus creating a negative through the valve potential difference if one is ALWAYS used?

    Thank you very much.

    James

    Hi James,

My mistake because I thought you were using LabVIEW. In theory, you should still be able to set the output programmatically.

This link from the site Web of The MathWorks shows how to vary the values of your analog output when someone was using a PCI device , so it can be useful.

I think the block National Instruments analog output is likely to be also useful.

Having not used the xPC Target before, it's hard to be sure if. I highly recommend using LabVIEW next time

And yes I count not that you went on your wiring in the correct manner.

    Kind regards

  • NEITHER 9207 reading current and voltage at the same time channels

I have a cDAQ-9178 chassis USB-three cards NI 9217 RTD, three cards 9263 0 - 10V and one the output OR 9207 16 channels analog card. What I m trying with this kind of things, is to read all the analog input channels (information of transducer, temperature, pressure, etc.) and adjust my controls to process with the analog output channels.

My problem at the moment is the following:

When I create tasks with DAQmx VI:s, how to create a task that reads current and voltage on the 9207 channels at the same time?

When I created a task for RTD-channels (16), a task for the outputs analog 0 - 10V (12), a task for the analog input 4-20mA (8) and a single task analog 0 - 10V input (8) I get an error-50103. I think it s because the tasks of current entry and voltagge are trying to use the same CAD at the same time and LabVIEW informs that "The specified resource is reserved. Tasks are to leave so that the analog output task starts first, then I merged all clusters of the error and the rest of the task are started by an order to current input-> input-> RTD input voltage. I get this error after the current enter task started and enter voltage task begins.

Because I m new on the LabVIEW and stuck in that time, I wanted to try the forum to find answers. I tried to find if someone else was having the same kind of problem, but with a quick search, there was none. I m in a bit of hurry, so I apologize if West a subject with a happy for that and I missed too much according to me.

Really, the best way to do it is just adding 8 channels of voltage at a task, then 8-channel current, somewhat like this:

Then spread over different channels when you read later:

It should run without error.  It always is multiplexed to sampling, but it will be much faster to create two separate tasks.  There will be between 2ms (mode high speed) and 52ms (mode high resolution) between each playback channels, but it will still be much faster than the permutation of the tasks.

  • The PCIe for USB 6211 OEM replacement

    Hi you all,.

We want to change our design to use PCIe card data acquisition, since we had a few USB driver problem in the past. Is the PCIe-6321 a good match to replace the capture USB-6211-OEM card

    Is there a better alternative?

    Thank you

    Fabrice

    Hello Fabrizio,

Thank you for taking an interest in our line of PCIe cards DAQ. I took a glance at the USB-6211 OEM and PCIe-6321 to see if they are similar in specifications and capabilities. I would say the 6321 is a good match to replace your current USB card. As long as you intend to use no more i/o lines than expected or exceeds the designated sampling rate then it should be a good substitute.

If you need high speed sampling or more i/o lines for various tasks, then another card can better meet your needs.

  • How can I activate several tensions trigger on the PCI-6221 using NOR-DAQmx?

I use the card to make an acquisition of data simple PCI-6221.  The idea is to allow three different analogue voltages trigger the State of data acquisition.  I currently put code in place for a trigger voltage but I'm not sure what to do to add two additional trigger voltages. Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Hi capncane,

The 6221 is not able to do an analog trigger so DAQmxCfgAnlgEdgeStartTrig will not work for your card. Is your relaxation a digital signal? If so what kind of logic level is? If it's TTL, you can use the PFI lines. If this isn't the case, you need to trigger as I mentioned in my previous post.

  • Need help on the use of the PCI-6221 and c# to control three digital Port and an analog of entry

I need to send the digital output at three ports and then read an analog input voltage using the analog card PCI-6221.

I did a c# program to fight against it. I built four tasks altogether. Three tasks for three digital output ports and a single task for analog input.

How can I reduce the time?

Using my method, to 3.3ms in total. And it's slow.

I can build one task for three ports?

What is the best way to the control task to reduce the time of communication with the PC?

Is that possible to save a lot of analog reading entry in the memory of the DAQ hardware and then read it all together from the computer in order to reduce time consumption?

    1 million thanks!

    Hello

    Hi Jin,

To answer your questions, Yes, you are able to configure a task of digital output to use three output ports and PCI-6221 has a buffer of memory FIFO aboard 4095 samples.

I would like to direct you to the example of NOR-DAQmx for c# files located in the following location on your computer

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\DotNET2.0

Here, you will find predefined examples in c# that should give you a good idea of how to go about architecting your code to achieve the results you need.

There is also a useful help file which you will find by navigating to Start > all programs > National Instruments > NOR-DAQ > help of NOR-DAQmx .NET Framework 2.0

I hope that this answer is useful.

    Best regards

  • Measurement of the temperature with the PCI-6229

I was announced in an old thread and do not receive and answer, so I thought I try a new.

Link to the old thread: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=250&thread.id=14920&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

I'm trying to measure temperatures using thermocouples using the PCI-6229 and I use two SBC-68LPR to make the connection.  They are not reference on them joints.

After moving down from enugh to careful reading of the old thread I mentioned above and I think I knew what I should do.  Here's what I do now:

    Create a task - DAQmxCreateTask

Create a channel for this task - DAQmxCreateAIThrmstrChanVex thermistor

Create a number of channels of thermocouple for this task (DAQmxCreateAIThrmcplChan) using the cjcsource DAQmx_Val_Chan option and specifying the string thermistor as the source channel

    Start this task - DAQmxStartTask

    Get the temperatures - DAQmxReadAnalogF64

    Stop the task - DAQmxStopTask

    Disable the task - DAQmxClearTask

I have not yet hooked, but I doubt that it is the cause of the error.

A few more details (pardon my Delphi):

Create the channel of the thermistor

    TmPcName: = ' Dev1/IA.19 ";

    Secret: = DAQmxCreateAIThrmstrChanVex)
    TcTaskHandle, / / task handle
    @TmPcName, / / physical channel name
    @TmChName, / / name of channel
    -80,                                   // Min range
    80,                                    // Max range
    DAQmx_Val_DegC, / / units, ° C
    DAQmx_Val_ResistanceConfiguration_4Wire, / / 2-wire, 4-wire, etc.
    DAQmx_Val_ExcitationSource_External, / / source of excitement, external
    1, / / value of excitement
    9.376e-4,                         // a
    2.208e-4,                         // b
    1.276e-7,                         // c
    30000);                            Resistance of reference

Creation of the channel of thermocouple:

    TcPcName: = ' Dev1/ai23;

    Secret: = DAQmxCreateAIThrmcplChan)
    TcTaskHandle, / / task handle
    @TcPcName, / / physical channel name
    '',                                     // Channel name
    0,                                    // Min range
    1000, / / Max range
    DAQmx_Val_DegC, / / units
    DAQmx_Val_DegC, / / type of Thermocouple
    DAQmx_Val_Chan, / / source CJC
    25, / / value of CYC, so DAQxm_Val_ConstVal
    @TmPcName);             CJC channel, so DAQxm_Val_Chan

It looks like 4 scales is required for voltage excitement thermistor measurements.

In addition, it seems that external excitation is necessary in my case, PCI-6229.

Everything works if I use a CJCConstant.  When I do this I use the same code to create channels of thermocouple, but I spend creating the channel of the thermistor.  When I try to use a CJCChannel I get an error saying "value required is not supported for this property value," which occurs when I call DAQmxStartTask.  I don't have no idea of what this message refers to and the best I can tell the properties that I've specified sense.  The constant termistor are from actual thermistor, that I found on travailleursduweb.com.

I could also use some help to know how to connect the thermistor.  Looks like I need to fab, a thermistor circuit myself, with a stable voltage to power the termistor and use a double-ended analog and reference to the channel.

    Thank you

    Mike

The error of thermocouple type was a type-o in the post.   Thanks for catching it.

I think I found the problem.

I wrote a small program to test for Thermistors and I went to using the routine exctation of tension for a common routine of excitement (... IEX instead of... Vex).  I had been by specifying a minimum value less than 0.  I changed it from-80 to 0, and it works now.  However, I got an error in division by zero, intermittently, when you read a thermistor channel.  The error is not in my code.  It occurs when you call DAQmxReadAnalogF64 for the first time and I'm not all mathematical related to this call.  I'm still looking into it.
