Summary of the issue
How to limit child access to sites?

What version of Windows Live Family Safety do you use?
Version 2011 (15.4.3555.0308)

Additional details
Interested in keeping my family safe from predators

Hi prettypouncy,

You can protect your child by using parental controls. Use activity reports to monitor your child's computer activity. Choose websites, games and programs that they can access. Set periods of time where they can use the computer. So go ahead, be occupied. Family safety can help keep an eye on things. You can download the family safety in the link below:

Windows Live Family Safety 2011

Regarding how to restrict the child to access sites, you must choose a level of filtering for your child. Please follow the steps in the link below to learn how to change the web filtering settings.

Restrict access of the child to the Sites

Feel free to reply to this thread if you have followed all of questions about this.

Thank you

  • Parental control in Recovery Mode

So I ran various web filters on my home computers to protect my family from garbage who lives in the internet, but I came into a slight problem for those who have a little know-how that any filter service cannot compete with, the darned recovery mode! I read somewhere that you can activate somehow to apple parental controls work inside the recovery mode, say just allow etc support forums, but I scoured the web and can't find anything? Is there a way to get around this so some crafty children cannot sneak around blocks and filters and have at least some restrictions if they try that?

Parental controls does not work in recovery mode. You would have to block access to this mode by setting a password for the firmware.

  • Dangerous PhoneCall of windows

I shave today received a call of a person within Windows London headquarters. He said that I had received messages from an unknown source that will infect my pc with a lot of viruses. He quoted figures which, said, that I could find on my pc to check his ID. I * ask a lot of questions. I felt that this call was not genuine. He had an Indian accent and is very frustrated with my current issues & suspitions. He then passed me to her 'manager' which was still Indian. I asked for a phone number confirm its appeal. He gave me 0800800004! I asked to hold as I called him. Of course I didn't, when I returned to the appellant that he was gone. I realize that this isn't a real call... but I'm sure... What can I do to protect my family & myself.

Fake phone calls to technical support

It is a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .

Microsoft does ever not requested for telephone calls of support or security.

(such persons may use names other than Microsoft as well)

If you don't they suggested (like giving them the remote control of your PC), then you should be safe. As to protect you in the future, knowledge is power - make sure you and your family are aware of these and other scams. Here is a good source of information:

  • Why am I limited to only 5 protection of my children the family of Microsoft?

    Original title: family size limit?

Why am I limited to only 5 protection of my children the family of Microsoft? If I knew that I couldn't add them all back, I would have deleted ALL of the Microsoft family to try to fix the problems that we had.

Is there a way I can add all 6 children to my family group to help monitor and intercept the undesirable Web sites?

[Moved from the community centre of Participation]

Family of Microsoft can have a total of 6 accounts.  One of the parents and children 5 is the limit.   This is normal.

  • Need help to remove the protection of the family off account of girls

I deleted my daughter from my laptop Microsoft account. I had the protection of the family there. How can I get the protection of the family out of his account because she has another account set up and know it required a code to get on his google account?  So I would like to remove the protection of the family so that it doesn't keep needing a code. If anyone can help me please and thank you.

To completely remove McAfee you must run the McAfee Consumer products removal tool if you run this while you are online, then it should automatically change your license to McAfee files, so that you have no problem reactivation if you decide to reinstall later.

If you installed from a different security application then you must remove that as well then reinstall it when you're own McAfee. See the list of product anti-malware removal tools

The effects of not running specialist tools uninstaller for security applications are seemingly random and are not documented anywhere.

This may or may not be the cause of your problem, but it must be done in any case.

  • Family to share some photos?

Well, my family is not the young family has spoken in promos. My children are on their own, but we would like to share a unique photo album that we can all contribute to what I see as possible. But, is it possible while keeping everything else, including iTunes and App purchases, separate?

I don't know about the sharing of the family and to do what you want, but you can create a Photo Album sharing, set up so that others can add and comment.  Only, you will be able to remove a photo from the album.

Your entire family using Mac?  If this isn't the case, you may create a public shared Album and give it the URL to those you want to participate.  I don't know about that as I've never used a PC so have no. first hand experience with them (Yes, I've led a life of protected and privileged)

  • Continuous family security matters

    Hello

A few moments ago, I had a problem with the parental control, which was being developed in the following discussion: -.

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_other-security/family-safety-sign-in-hangs/99400114-4132-4bd5-9cdb-459171507b60?page=3

I was told to come back at any time if I had additional problems (which I have now), but the discussion is closed for other updates.

Is it possible to get reopened? I now have a problem whereby Family Safety has stopped working altogether. My report of weekly activity don't say 'No activity' and if I have connection in the parental controls, it is said that there is no activity reported here too.

    Thank you.

Since your last thread ends, the forums have been reorganized so that parental control is now up to the Windows - security and protection of personal information section. When this happened, all the current discussions were locked. I don't know if your old thread can be unlocked - we will try, and if possible you can follow up. Otherwise, wait for a moderator of the forum to answer here in this thread.

Meanwhile, it would be useful to know what version of Windows is in issue here.

  • Access to records with family safety filter?

Is this possible with family safety parental controls / filter to block children to delete files, such as photos, videos, music, etc.?

    Hi Nathans77,

We are happy to help you with your concern. I understand you want to prevent your children from delete files on your computer.

Family safety doesn't have the function to set restrictions on the files, or prevent access to the files on your computer.

What you can do is set the security properties of the files so it cannot be changed. You can also create another user account where your child can not access so that the files cannot be deleted. If you need help in the protection of your files are deleted, you can post it on the forum of Windows.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you!

    Additional details
Hi, my 14-year-old bought her own laptop.  I installed Windows life family safety (WLFS) and linked to his user name on the site WLFS.
    (1) first he told me he wasn't, and we discovered that Kaspersky Anti-virus is blocking define us as a reliable application and password protected for the antivirus software.  WLFS SHOULD ALERT PARENTS TO THIS POTENTIAL SECURITY BREACH.
    (2) then he told me that he could disable the parental control via the control panel: > Panel > user accounts and Family Safety > Parental control > provider Elite > [click here] 'None' versus "WLFS." WLFS SHOULD ALERT PARENTS TO THIS POTENTIAL SECURITY BREACH.
This is alarming!   What is the best way to solve this problem?  Shouldn't Microsoft remove this feature from the control panel or password protect or something?   Is there another solution besides me being an administrator on his laptop?  How he would be able to make changes on their own computer if I did?   We are very angry;  WLFS has worked great for us so far!  Help, please!

Thank you for taking your time!  In fact, we have been successfully in Kaspersky parental control for him.  He is now 15.  WLFS program works very well for my 10 years, who doesn't know much about computers and has never entered a "Control Panel" of his own volition and don't know what to do when she got in there!  My son has another question: had taken programming and is autonomous led to learn more about computers.

Last year, he bought his own SERVER to run its multi-player online game!

    Thanks again,
    QueenofArts
