proxy. XML

Greetings, I'm changing an ESXi 4.1.0.260247 host to listen to any client connections on channels.

It is documented and supported by VMware.  http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1021199

But I can't download the edited proxy.xml.

Here's my quick put the command:

vifs.pl - Server 192.168.0.11 - username root Pei proxy.xml /host/proxy.xml

I get this error:

Error: The file proxy.xml cannot be uploaded to proxy.xml.

I rebooted the host, and I get the same error.

Please help me understand why.  Thank you.

Not sure if the syntax is correct.

But with ESXi 4.1 you can activate the SSH service in Configuration / Secure.

Using winscp or scp to copy the file.

  • Change proxy.xml disconnect host of VC

I have a requirement to lock our ESXi hosts based on vSphere hardening guides. One in particular is to disable the Explorer objects managed on ESXi hosts. That are in the configuration of the document Security hardening vSphere ESX/ESXi host part. Code HCM02. If I comment on this section of the file /etc/vmware/hostd/proxy.xml the host becomes disconnected from the VC and the Web interface no longer works. So what I'm doing wrong here. This is the portion of the file before I change it:

So I'm just commenting on this section to turn it off. Once I restart the services.sh on the ESXi host is when the problems start. This can not be expected behavior is? Thanks for any help!

In the guide to hardening of the (Rev B) project, a step was omitted this procedure.  You need decrement the <_length>field by one after the removal of the element of the "crowd".  This will be corrected in the final version.

  • Modify the web proxy server to vCenter server

    Hello

I installed the vCenter server on a virtual machine that is present at the top an ESXi host in my vSphere environment. The operating system installed on the virtual computer is Windows Server 2008. Now, I want to change the web proxy service on the vCenter server to allow the http connection. I'm following the steps in this guide:

    http://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-50/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.VMware.perlsdk.pg.doc_50%2Fviperl_proggd_preface.2.1.html

However, the path specified in this guide: c:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Application Application Data VMware VirtualCenter

is not present in Windows Server 2008.

And the path that contains vCenter which is C:\Program Files\VMware\infrastructure\virtualcenter Server doesnot contain any proxy.xml file that needs to be changed.

I need help with this as to how to activate the connection http on the vcenter server.

    Thanks in advance.

Try to paste this path into the address bar in Explorer or in the command line. This is a hidden directory.

  • Default connection ports

Hello everyone so I recently installed ESXI 6 on my proxmox server and used the ESXI embedded client host fling, which uses default authentication ports 80 and 443. My question is how I would go about changing ports Auth to something such as 8080 and 8081. The reason why I want to do it is because it is a test for Learning Lab and want to access remote web control panel. I looked Configure a VPN, but I prefer to forward a port 8080 or 8081 and access it that way. I am aware that this question has been answered before but it has been 5.0 and 5.5, which uses proxy.xml which has been deleted in what concerns or move to the 6.0 because I'm not. If this has been answered elsewhere I apologize.

    Hello

You may need to modify /etc/vmware/rhttpproxy/config.xml file in 6.0 (as per article VSphere 6.0 Documentation Centrepubs)

There is also an exchange of views about this in Re: Proxy.xml that allows us to modify to enable HTTP for vSphere SDK is not found in ESX server 5.1

  • vSphere ESX 4.1 changing default ports 80 and 443?

    Hiya,

I have problems trying to change ports by default so that I can spend my server in VM.

I tried what he said on the forums here, but I can't work. VMware KB 1021199 article

The proxy.xml has about 72 lines in there, but I put it upstairs, downstairs, no joy.

The top of my proxy.xml now looks like this

    < ConfigRoot >

    < > 81 httpPort < / httpPort >

    < > 444 httpsPort < / httpsPort >

< the rest of the file >

< / the rest of the file >

    < / ConfigRoot >

I have changed ports in my customer file too.<add key = "protocolports" value = "https:444;http:81" />

All I get is unable to connect to the server.

I also tried to add the port to the name such as 192.168.5.111:81, no joy.

    What I'm missing here?

    Any help much appreciated, taa.

    Welcome to the community,

just a quick question. Why do you have ant / need to change ports on ESX host? The ESX host and the virtual machine to each use their own IP address, so there should not be any conflict of port with a virtualized Exchange Server.

  • Remove VMware completely when the installer fails - HOW?

I had VMware Workstation 8 works fine on a 64-Bit machine of Windows 7.

I bought 9 Workstation and tried to install it, and he says that he should uninstall version 8.

Well, it failed.  Now, I can not install ANY version, version 7, 8 or 9, all versions.

The installer is apparently unable to deal with an error to uninstall an earlier version. Why?

[at this point, Monday, December 17, 2012, it is all fixed with VMware technical phone support. It involves several

steps and a key was to use the utility Fixit from microsoft from here: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2438651/en-us

and 1308 VMware knowledge base article http://KB.VMware.com/kb/1308 .

Microsoft fixit scanner not found VMware, but she showed 'unknown' (or other?) and VMware

technical support took the key to the article above of 1308

    {0D94F75A-0EA6-4951-B3AF-B145FA9E05C6} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\

Paste in the registry key when asked by the fixit utility

    {0D94F75A-0EA6-4951-B3AF-B145FA9E05C6}

Who noted a mistake and fixed it.

    My options are:

1 reinstall the Windows operating system and start from scratch (which will take a few days to catch up with installed programs).

NOTE: DON'T DO THIS WITH THE SUPPORT OF VMWARE

    2. remove all vestiges of the previous installations of VMware so I can install without being told that the installer has found another version.

NOTE: THIS WAS DONE BY THE TECHNOLOGY WITH THE HELP OF THEIR CONTROL PROGRAM REMOTE

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They have the option "/ clean" on the installer, which does not work, but it must do what he pretended to do so, remove all previous keys and elements.

What a VMware solution that fixed what well Setup obviously cannot fix. It should prepare my computer so it will NOT report versions of VMware if I can install two versions 7, 8, or 9.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the help of VMware support, they were able to completely remove VMware and install VMware 9. I'm going to

to try to writeup that they did, but the solution took about 30 minutes and many find and remove the

    Directories of VMware.

I now have version 9 installed and it works fine.

Post edited by: jeff92677 - TO EXPLAIN THAT THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED, AND THANKS to VMWARE for THE SOLUTION

This feature was introduced in WS 7.
Since then WS installers often think that older versions is present - and this happens even on systems that has never ever been before WS.

On the issue of the port... This is normal. Most of the time it does not configure the port correctly during a first installation.
You have installed Skype? -Make sure that remove you it temporarily.
Then stop vmware - pass manually - change the
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\hostd\proxy.xml
-use an equivalent path for win7 of course - so that it uses the port you want.

    445

Then restart vmware - pass and it works hopefully

  • Issue after changing the port used by the VSphere Client - ESXi 5

Being an ESXi 4 guy, I changed the default ports in the proxy.xml file as indicated: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1021199 as I always do. However, this time I did in ESXi 5, before reading the note: ' "for vSphere 5.0, if the proxy ports are changed, the new ports are not allowed through the firewall ESXi.".

I restarted the management agents and now of course, I can't seem to connent on the host ESXi 5 via any port, and I can't connect to disable the firewall using esxcli. Today what is the workaround?

    Thanks in advance.

You can access the physical console and go to DCUI and undo your changes... If you made a backup file of the xml file before you make changes, it should be as simple as copy back the original file.

I, like you, Mantralightroom, prefer to run a tight ship / have full control on what is installed / located on my pc. Unfortunately the mounting of two (or three if on x 64) files you mentioned doesn't seem to work. So I treated the as I treat Adobe Air, which, even if you say "do not install" always installs.

If there is no option but to install the bridge, bridge mini and other foreign pieces ' only parts require you while they get treatment for a special haircut, i.e. of the folder of the bits said games ' only pieces, hit the magic button with "Delete", written on it.

No problem what so ever report so far. Work like CS4 where I could force do not to install.

I Mystic Thumbs for psd files and ST Thumbnail Explorer for files have to display in my files, same as any other type of image file, which take up a lot less than my property. I don't have Adobe Bridge to organize my image files thanks a lot. I'm a big boy now, I'll do it myself.

    End point.

    Some people like Adobe Bridge.

Some people like Slug ' doesn't lettuce flavor of ice cream.

    I don't like.
