Modify the web proxy server to vCenter server

Hello

I installed the vCenter server on a virtual machine that is present at the top an ESXi host in my vSphere environment. The operating system installed on the virtual computer is Windows Server 2008. Now, I want to change the web proxy service on the vCenter server to allow the http connection. I'm following the steps in this guide:

http://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-50/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.VMware.perlsdk.pg.doc_50%2Fviperl_proggd_preface.2.1.html

However, the path specified in this guide: c:\Documents and Settings\AllUsers\Application Application Data VMware VirtualCenter

is not present in Windows Server 2008.

And the path that contains vCenter which is C:\Program Files\VMware\infrastructure\virtualcenter Server doesnot contain any proxy.xml file that needs to be changed.

I need help with this as to how to activate the connection http on the vcenter server.

Thanks in advance.

Try to paste this path into the address bar in Explorer or in the command line. This is a hidden directory.

  • Presentation of ID host ESX host LUN to the VCB Proxy Server

I have a typical scenario where I have 3 ESX servers with 3 x 800 GB LUNS in a storage group separate on a CX 310 SAN box. The host LUN., of these 3 LUN Ids are 0, 1 and 2.

I have a specific host that starts from SAN, from the same box of CX 310 SAN. At this point of time, I have no choice to use this server as a Server Proxy VCB. As far as my knowledge goes, LUNS of the ESX servers must be made visible to VCB Proxy Server, as they are presented to the ESX servers.

My question here is, as the designated Proxy VCB server is booting from the SAN, he already has a host LUN 0 to Id the logic unit number this is the start of. The Id to host ONE of the first 800 GB LUN in the ESX Server storage group is also Host Id 0. Now, if I try to make the LUNS in storage group visible on the VCB Proxy Server ESX, is there not a shock of the VCB Proxy 0 host Id and Id host ESX Lun 0? I'm confused, I don't have a test envirinment where I could try this before I could actually go forward with any solution.

My intention is to perform a backup outside LAN of the VMDK.

Any help is that this respect is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    (1) Yes, you can have different host for VCB then for your ESX host LUN ID

    (2) Yes, you can use the identifiers of naa, it will automatically use the identifiers of naa, no need to configure anything at all.

  • Easy switch of the LAN proxy server settings?

In order to access the internet at work, I need to go through a proxy server. But whenever I get home I have to turn off the proxy server. So, whenever I go home at night I have to click on 'Internet Options' (shortcut on the desktop), then "connection", then "network settings" and finally uncheck the box "use a proxy server for your LAN". And then every morning when I get back to work I have to do it again and re-check the box.

Is there a way to make a shortcut directly on the screen 'network settings '?
Better yet, could I get a click button to switch the proxy on and out, directly from my office? Does anyone know all the gadgets that offer this feature?

    Hi Taikoman,

Please use the forum for Support of Vista,

Please use your favorite search engine and do a search for "switch proxy on and out".  You should be able to find an editing software to do the job.

  • the difference between the Web application server and Web server?

What is the functional difference and the relationship between the Server Web applications and Web server, for example: Weblogic is the Application Web server, IIS is the Web server, Apache is the Web server and Oracle Application Server is the Application Web server? Someone said, Web Application Server is a Web server, but more functional superset, seems in this case, we can also use a server of web applications as a web server. For example, we can use Weblogic, but do not use IIS and Apache, please correct me?

  • vSphere client from the Web do not show vCenter

    Hello

Not sure if this is the choice correct forum ask...

I installed 5.5 Esxi and vCenter og vSphere Web Client 5.5 trial version to do some lab... Everything went ok, but when I start the Web Client vSphere vCenter server is displayed. I thought this was going to be added automatically, I've logged on with domain administrator and this user have full administrator on the vCenter server access. I did some googling, and it seems that I must follow the solution below, can anyone confirm? Is this a known issue?

VMware KB: Re-score and the reinstatement of VMware vCenter Server 5.1 / 5.5 and components

    / R

    Andreas

Not all administrators have permissions to manage the server vCenter Server by default, so you must open a session using the [email protected] account, add the domain to the "Sources of identity" and configure permissions on the vCenter server object in the inventory.

  • Can 'connect to the Web (proxy) service.

    Hello

I use JDev 11.1.2.3.0 and the integrated WebLogic server (10.3.5.0).
I am trying to deploy a Fusion Webapp (ADF) which needs to connect to an external Web service (so it is not in my local network).
I use a proxy and I entered all the information in the boot parameters in my WebLogic (Tools > Preferences > Web & Proxy) and successor to the power of Attorney 'Test '.
But when I try to log into my webservice (so when start my weblogic and deploy my application), the webservice does not even get my connection request.
I'm I missed something? Or is it somehting wrong with the settings of my laptop?

  • Cisco WSA: Is it possible to use the web proxy in transparent mode without WCCP router?

    Hello!

I would like to use Cisco WSA as a web proxy in a transparent manner (without any configuration of client web browsers), but I do not have a WCCP router. So, is it possible?

    If so, how?

    Thank you

    Stephane Walker

    Hi, Stéphane

The only alternative to WCCP is ACB (the policy-based routing). With a simple configuration on the router, you can redirect traffic defined also interesting by the WSA access list. On the ASO you must configure transparent mode (security-> Web Proxy Services-> the settings of-> Mode Proxy: Transparent). You should also make sure proxy listens on port 80 and HTTPS proxy is enabled (on port 443) If you want to redirect HTTPS traffic as well.

    Cisco router configuration example

    !
access-list 110 permit tcp any any eq www
    !
    proxy-redirect allowed route map 10
    corresponds to the IP 110
    set ip next-hop xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    !
    interface ethernet0/1
    proxy-redirect IP policy route map
    !

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the proxy in such a case and access-list 110 sets web traffic (HTTP-TCP/80) also interesting.

The biggest drawback of this solution is the lack of troubleshooting. If the proxy will go down because some reason router will keep redirecting traffic causing the cutoff of internet access.

Cisco routers out material should also have an option to configure policy routing based.

    / Artur

PS. It is not possible to place the WSA online between the clients and the internet.

  • Problems with the web interface of connection vcenter 5.1

    Guys,

What don't understand me, I've set up a new virtual appliance version of vcenter test 5.1, I can connect just fine using vsphere client and console, but the web interface refuses to agree with the same identifiers. What is happening with this single sign? I really do not understand.

You guys could help me please?

I stumbled upon this same question.  5.1 with the search service is completely different than 5.0, this is why the others are not working.

Here's what I did to solve the problem.  I turned on the regeneration of SSL certificate:

    1. Navigate to https://[IP]: 5480 and connect
    2. Go to the Admin tab and press the button "Toggle the setting of certification" until activated regeneration 'certificate' displays Yes
    3. Go to the network tab and change the host name.  This will trigger a regeneration of SSL (or you can change the ip address).  I don't know if change 'localhost' to something else helped, but it can't hurt.
    4. Restart the box (restart System tab button.)

At this point, you can look at the start-up of the machine of vcenter console messages.  You will notice some messages about detection of a new hostname or IP and regenerate a new certificate.  You will see all the services to import it again SSL ceritifcates so.

At the end of the reset, I was able to connect to the web client to vCenter!
