• File name of the Image displayed in PSE 8 does not match the file path name in Windows 7

  I recently got a new computer. I've updated on my computer Windows XP of PSE 5.0 to 8.0 PSE.  Then, I moved my files to the new computer that is running Windows 7, following the instructions that I have received on a previous post.  I copied the catalog file and the image files on the C drive of the old computer to the new computer (file catalog to the specified location in the information system;  images of my images).   Everything seems to have worked beautifully without having to go through a great struggle to reconnect.  The organzer seems to have found all of the images and I can put them in the editor as well.  However, when I look at the properties of a given image displayed full file name is that it was on XP: C:\Documents and Settings\ < username > \My Documents\My Pictures\ < folder name >-< Filename > rather than the path as it is in Windows 7, i.e. C:\Users\ < username > \My Pictures\ < file name >-< Filename >.  I am new to Windows 7 then maybe miss me something unique to Windows 7 but I'd like information.

  You are using the alias of the special folder that Vista and Windows 7 create to maintain backward compatibility (Microsoft continues to change how and where are stored the documents of users).   On Windows 7:

  C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\My photos

  is a special type of alias in the file:

  C:\Users\\Pictures

  (AndC:\Users \My Pictures is yet another kind of Windows 7 special alias, a 'library', which includes the folder C:\Users\Pictures.)

  Whenever an application like PES refers to the old location, C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\My photos, Windows that automatically converts backstage in C:\Users\\Pictures.   But Windows Explorer is configured to prevent you to access C:\Documents and Settings\ interactively - only programs like PES are able to do.  Microsoft wants users of Windows Explorer to always use the name of 'new', C:\Users\\Pictures.

  In your case, your catalog contained the old paths of XP folder, and Windows is automatically translate on the fly for new paths, unbeknownst to PSE.

  Like most of the backward compatibility hacks, this does not work perfectly.  PSE believe that the old road and new road are two completely different cases.  I'm not positive, but I think that there are opportunities for PSE to get confused by that.   When you import new pictures, they get recorded in the Catalog under the new folder paths.

  In my previous recommendation about how to move to the new computer, I had assumed you would probably change user names and locations of photo and so you would have to make a reconnection, and you would not have met it.  If I thought that you were not have need to reconnect, I would have recommended not not using this method, but rather using Backup/Restore (my first recommended method) - my bad.

  It would be nice if your current catalog and the PES works pretty well.   But there is at least a small risk that the road of PSE will get confused by old and new folder names.  The best way to avoid this would be to start again and use the backup/restore method to move your catalogue, which is more effort on your part.  But because I do not understand the risk, I can't tell you if you should be worried about it.   No doubt do tests: editing, import and edition of new photos, use view > view of the location of the folder, try to rename and move the old photos and the new folders, try the Photo Downloader, etc.

• Why does movement of files on a USB flash drive last so long?

  I don't know if this is a Windows problem, but when I move a lot of files/folders (no copy, but select, then drag, or cut and paste) a place on the USB to another place on the flash drive, it takes much longer than the same hard disk.

  What is a Windows problem or a problem of flash player?

  If Windows is somehow move the files into pieces on the hard drive, then moving them back to the flash drive, I could see that as being the reason, but this seems very inefficient. If Windows says just the flash drive to move files and it does itself, I wonder if it is an inefficiency in the flash drive (or formatting) or just the nature of how flash drives move some files.

  I don't know that you have understood my problem. I moved the files to the flash drive from one folder to another on the flash drive. When I move tons of files in a folder on the Windows Installer by car, no matter where the records are or the number of files/folders are moved, it usually happens instantly and occasionally perhaps takes a fraction of a second or two; I know it's simply by changing the index (do not physically move the files). With a USB flash drive, it takes seconds to minutes, depending on how much is moved, which is usually much less to install on the windows drive. It's because flash player must physically move the files on the disk, there is no index to put it as on a fixed drive.  In addition the only way to move is to copy in memory, and then write it to the new location.  This means that each overflow bit must go through the USB connection (which is thousands of times slower than SATA cable on the real hard disk), and since then he has to go twice (in and out), it is even half as slow as new.

  There is no transfer between the hard drive and the flash player I know.

  What this means for me, it is the index or take more time to rewrite, or files are actually moved. What I'm asking is if Windows is somehow data transfer (even if it's the index) drive flash disk, then moving them backwards, slowing things down. I think that even moving them by RAM would slow it down, but I'm not sure.  Also considers that the internal drive is cached. So even if a bit should be moved, Windows will just notice "Yes move this bit later."  The progress box says it completed instantly, but really uses lazy writeback just finish the job later.  That is why if you lose power to your computer, it corrupts the files got reported as fact, but were not actually written on the disc.  Flash drives do not use the lazy "write behind caching" because they never know when the user will disconnect unexpectedly, so that they take the slow lane and check writing all ended before they say the progress bar to advanced. 

  You can change this second element by setting your USB device to "best performance" in the device, as Manager below.  But I do not recommend because it cannot handle unplug you the reader more.

  

• PSE 14 does not refresh to ACR 9.5

  I am the PSE 14, under Windows 7 64-bit.   The cab is at the 9.4.0.548 level.   When I try to update via help-> updates,... He tells me that everything is completely up to date.

  I contacted Adobe support and did not have a great experience.   There is no support for PSE phone, so I opened a chat.  Once I explained the issue in detail, the person on the cat asked me to 'go to forums.adobe.com to find a link.   I asked: what link?  You can give me just the URL?   They said no.  Well, I went on the forum and found previous answers which indicated that 14 PSE should be updated to ACR 9.5 through the help-> updates.   That's exactly what does not work for me.   So, I reiterated that even once on the cat, but was ignored.  The person never returned to help me.

  So, can anyone help?

  My PSE14.1 is updated to 9.5 from ACR.  I don't remember how it happened is for a month or more.  If Help / updates does not work and run the installer on the download link doesn't work, then try to extract the file-plug-in Camera Raw.8bi directly from the EXE installer.  You will need 7 - zip to do.  After installing 7 - Zip, right-click on the CameraRaw_9_5.exe and select 7-Zip archives / Open.  Click the bottom after the COMMONFILES64 folder until you see a Camera Raw.8bi file.  Click Copy To Folder that somewhere.

  

  Once you have the 64-bit Camera Raw.8bi copy/paste in the folder of files for PSE14 Formats, after renaming the plug-in with an extension of .old94 in place in case this new does not work and you must rename back the 94 version.  You should end up with something like this:

  

  I'm on Windows 10 and tested and it works; However, since I was rename and copy things in a folder under Program Files, I got a popup of security I had to recognize that a user is not General ' don't mess with things in Program Files.  Your Windows 7 may be less picky.

• PSE 8 does not open

  I recently upgraded from PSE 6 PSE 8 (I have Windows 7).  I used it less than a month.  The first problem started when I'd get an error when using the Organizer to upload photos on Shutterfly.  The error, said that the organizer has stopped working.  I followed some advice on the adobe Web site (assured my minimum system requirements is assembled, installed current service packs and updates, recreated the preferences file and disabled all startup items) problems.  This is when the problem worsened.  The organizer stopped opening at all.  I could still open the editor but could not open the Organizer.  Then I got a different error messages.  Sometimes I would also get the tutorial screen that would jump to the top, covering the screen does not allow me to open the editor or organizer.

  I then uninstalled PSE 8 and reinstalled (twice).  I don't know what happened but PSE 8 is very similar to before.  I can't open the Organizer not always but sometimes I can open the editor, although my recently changed photos are always available.  I was expecting a new start.  But I still have the tutorial screen that prevents me from clicking the editor or organizer.  I noticed the file I changed PSA at psa.old is still there.  So now I have psa.old in date 03/10/10 and psa as of 10/10/10.

  I recently supported PSE 8 if I don't mind starting from scratch and import the backup file.

  I would appreciate help.  I use PSE but right now can't even get the program to open.

• Overview of slide show PSE 8 does not work

  I created a slide show and when I saw it all (large or small) I get is a black screen, even if I change the background color.  When I made it to a pdf file, it turned out very well.  Someone other than trouble with preview their slideshows?  It also seems that Pse 8 lock up a lot on my computer. When I turn off Auto Analyzer it seems to work better. Does anyone else have this problem?

  Three new features introduced in PSE 8 are known to frequent accidents: the autoanalyzer, automatic face recognition and the keyword tags text box (where you type the keywords by typing).

• NET 4 security update KB2487367 does move and redirects to Bing

  For the last week, I get a security alert - and downloading the update, computer takeas years to get running and alert same notice appears again.

  I clicked on the link on the update of security for more information and all I get is Bing.

  Is microsoft now forcing me to chose Bing or Linux?

• OfficeJet Pro 8500 software USB does move

  I have Windows XP Service Pack 3. I uninstalled all my previous software/drivers HP printer before installing the 8500. (I had a series of OfficeJet 6100).

  I select to install the USB software. The USB cable is not connected.

  When the software starts installation it says "step 1 of 4 - control system. He crashes at 5% and never does anything after that. I let go 20 minutes or more with the same results.

  I have downloaded and run the OfficeJet software and driver removal utility. Who was running. Found a note that says to run the bat file 3 times... Has done this, then restarted. Insert my CD and I tried to reinstall the USB software. Same thing. It hangs at 5% of the audit of the system. I have no case.

  I turned my PCTools Firewall (also unplugged my computer from the internet), then tried to install the USB software with the same result from pending to 5% to ching system.

  I had so much trouble getting the software installed. I finally got the drivers running and a lot of software installed, but not all. (No Photo Essentials 3.5 yet). I finished to clear all the memory disk cache (temporary files, etc.) and to change my startup so programs nothing started upward when I rebooted. After that I tried to install again. I tried several times. One of the moments where I tried to install "wireless" instead of USB. I got a ways, then tried to install USB. I finally got to complete the installation. Now when I run the program Center solutions to try to Scan (or other functions) the software crashes and does not end so I can scan etc, but I can click on the icon of the SCANNER that I copied my files of the control panel. When I open the scanner like this, I select Micrsoft camer and scanner Wizard. I am able to scan just fine. It is a continuous process. I think that I have some weird problems with my computer and other files drivers, but at least I can run my printer now and scan.

• PSE action does not

  A few months ago, I got a new iMac and reinstalled Photoshop 11 on it.  I had an action called CVW Supply Tracker which was awesome before working when using it in PES 11 on my old computer.  Now I can't make it work.  When I click to perform the action, I get an error code that says: "the JavaScript is missing."   I don't know what has changed.

  When I insert the action, the .atn file appears and allows me to load it.  (However the .jsx and png files are gray.)  I don't know if it of a problem or not.  I can't understand how to solve this problem.  I tried to copy the DOWNLOAD jsx file and put in the Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 / Support Files/Presets/Scripts folder.  But it still doesn't work. Any ideas?  My iMac is new and works really well.  PSE works fine except for this problem.  Moreover, my old computer was a Macbook Pro!  If the action works on a mac before.  A difference is now I'm using ElCapitan.  He was formerly of Yosemite.

  I think that the reason for the message is that the CVW_SupplyTracker.jsx is not in the correct folder.

  Hi, am trying to edit a few photos I have now acquired in Lightroom. When I try to edit a photo (jpg) in PSE 14, I get an error message from PSE 14 saying

  File Format JPEG (from the choice of the PSD, TIFF, JPEG)

  If I change the file in format TIFF or PSD Format, I get the error message but then he said: he can't open files in TIFF or PSD format?

  PSE 12 comes with ACR 8.0. Since you have win 7 you can go to help > updates in the editor and get 8.2, but adobe has cut off Vista and XP to 8.0 (not only to post-secondary studies, in all of their programs that use the ACR plugin).
