public documents

My public documents folder disappeared, even if the 'shortened' is there. When I click on the open folder location I tells me that it is in 'My Documents'

but it is not in my documents, although I can always access it by using the shortcut. Any ideas?

Thank you.

I wonder if there is a misunderstanding here... Of JWS (Hi new JW!) link is a useful guide to restore accidentally deleted items, but reading your q you say you "can still access using the shortcut" then it is more than it's missing from the library of documents rather than have been deleted?

If so you need to go to the users of OS - Public - public Documents highlight - right click and select 'Include in the library' and choose 'documents '.

JWS response or above should sort you out!

Greetings - R

  • All the files are copied in public Documents

    Hello

I have weird problem. I use the local account (Administrator) in my office windows 8. Every time I have copy something for Libraries\Documents he goes to the public Documents even he should go to My Documents. I didn't change the settings associated with it (at least not in the object). Earlier, it worked as expected. I guess this can be fixed, but the question is how? Because now I did not find any related to this setting.

    Hello

Open libraries by clicking on the left of any folder in Windows Explorer.
If 'Documents' is not a listed library, then click library and chooserestore default libraries to fix.

your backups should automatically go to your real 'My Documents'. The "public documents" are what other people on your network would see if they were trying to access the files on your computer (your my stuff is private).

The documents 'library' trying to be helpful by showing you all files that are located in two folders, grouped into a single list. Therefore, alibrary.
You can tell the library for not showing the public folder by opening your library of documents, and then on the blue highlight at the top that saysincludes 2 communities. Here, you will be able to remove the Public folder of the library. But the record will still exist and the other people on your network can store files, by default.

  • OAM 11gR2PS2 - no authenticated access to public Documents at the Complutense University of MADRID

    Hi all

We had a requirement to one of our clients, in which the documents who have received the public's access to the Complutense University of MADRID should not be challenged for authentication.

Examples of URLS that are not in dispute when you use the managed for UCM server port (16200)

    http://xxx.com:16200/cs/idcplg? IdcService = GET_FILE & dID = 1445 & dDocName = DEV_COMPLOGO_31364 & allowInterrupt = 1

    http:// xxx.com : 16200/cs/groups/public/documents/digitalmedia/b2dv/xzmx/~edisp/dev_complogo_31364.jpg

This GS search page ready must also open without authentication.

    http:// xxx.com : 16200/cs/idcplg? IdcService = GET_DOC_PAGE

After the configuration of SSO and protection/CS, when I go above URL using the port of OSH only the second opens without challenge me the name of user and password.

Knowing that I can protect/unprotect URL patterns, I was wondering if this is possible using OAM at all.

The document is assigned to a group of public safety at the Complutense University of MADRID.

    http://xxx.com:16200/cs/idcplg? IdcService = GET_FILE & dID = 1445 & dDocName = DEV_COMPLOGO_31364 & allowInterrupt = 1

By looking at the URL, would you be able to identity if this url is to document to the Group of public safety? All of the query parameter would help you to differentiate the document in the public safety group

If the answer is NO then you will not be able to create policies OAM who could remove the URL

If the answer is YES you can then use 'Query parameter' section resource OAM to remove the specific URL

    hope this helps

  • Hive workspaces - Public Documents

When a new workspace is created, a "public documents" folder is automatically generated. However, persons who are not participants of the workspace cannot access the public documents folder. If I have the check the "make this public space so that non-participants can read, comment and discuss" option, the whole workspace becomes public, but I just need that the "public documents" folder to be public.
Can someone help me with this?
    Thank you

    Mariana,

How non-participants try to access the public Documents folder? Users who are not non-public a workspace participants should be able to access the folder of Public Documents via a content-dav URL, but not by the customer of collaborative team itself. Dav content to the public Documents folder URL is most likely of the form:

    http://content/dav///public Documents.

Another way to determine the URL must right-click on a document in the public Documents folder, select "copy...". ', paste the link into the URL address bar and delete the name of the document to the end of the URL.

Users may also be able to use o (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/beehive/beehive_users/2_0/obee.htm) to access the public Documents folder in the workspace.

    Thank you

  • Why Firefox insists on connect to public documents googledocs, IE does not care.

I did a Googledoc, made public and sent the link to a few people. They told me that they cannot see the document because they are not connected to googledocs. When they tried through Internet Explorer, they got the document. An example is entered below

No, I do not have an account of GoogleDocs, and I tested it on a naked Firefox profile that does not have the saved, especially for Gmail passwords I use.

How do I know that you sent this link?

I made this based on this assumption:

Otherwise, how would you send this link?

  • Restore 'My Documents' and 'Public records' alias after moved folder

I moved my folder "Documents" of the user, as long as the public 'Documents' of my boot drive to a new drive for storage of files, I added.

To do this, I opened the properties of the folder, the location tab and used the move... button to direct to the new location.

After, my "Documents" library entry shows two folders 'Documents '.  Before the move, these folders have been listed with the alias "My Documents" and "Documents", which was a welcome orientation for the scope of these two files the same name.

How to recreate these aliases at this point?

Well, it's good. It is a common mistake for people to hurt set the new location as D:\ just for example, which means the entire root of the drive's "documents folder" (not exactly the end of the world, but it is difficult to undo and even harder to explain).  Anyway, you avoid this pitfall.

The word "public" shown is not actually part of the name of the documents folder (not the 'my' on your own file).  It covers based on the presence of a text file inside the folder that told him of the special Act.  The folder itself is still called 'Documents' (complete actual path of C:\users\public\Documents), but the folder icon shows "Public Documents" because there is a file with hidden text in the file called desktop.ini telling him to see it.

This part is pointing shell32 is just to find the English version of "Official Documents".  You could do what you want, such as:

The folder looks like that it's called "Public things", but we call it actually still just 'Documents '.  The name is set according to the text of Desktop.ini.

So in short, just to put this text file in the folder, mark it as a file system / hidden, and it will allow you to set the name of "presents itself as" to anything you want.

  • How to include folders to D: drive, specifically in Documents public, not only in the document library?

Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit SP1: how to include records of the D: drive in public Documents so that they become automatically visible to each user who opens his library of Documents? At present, I can only include these folders in the document library, invisible to other users. I don't want to load large files physically in the C: drive, where public Documents.

You can do this easily because public Documents is a folder, not a library.

You can place junction points in public Documents that point to folders on the disk D:\.

To do this open a command prompt by typing cmd in the box to start the search, made a right click the program cmd that appears in the search results and click 'run as administrator '. Type the following command and press ENTER:

    MKLINK /J "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Folder" "D:\Folder.

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770988 (v = ws.10) .aspx

You may need to adjust the permissions of files and folders on the drive D:\ so that all users can have access to them.

I have not tested it; so be cautious.

  • Which is the method approved by Microsoft to /Public directory?

I have Vista Home Premium 32.

My 400GO C: drive is quickly filled, thanks mainly to an increase in the number of photos in /Public.  I would spend my/public folder during a new 1 TB internal drive that I just installed.  I've seen a number of solutions on how to do it.  Vista apparently has a function called mklink, and I saw that I can't piecemeal remapping of the public/parties by making changes in the registry of indications.  Before taking the risk of losing a ton of pictures of my kids, I wonder if one of these solutions (or maybe another that I have not seen) is the one who would be officially approved or proposed by Microsoft.

I'm really surprised that this kind of thing is not easy.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When you say ' / Public ', I assume you mean the "C:\Users\Public" folder, which contains records of public documents, etc. photos.  Is this fair?

There is no reason to use methods risky as "mklink" or registry changes.  To learn how to move a public folder, click on Start > Help and Support and search for the topic to redirect a folder to a new location in .

Before you move all files on the new drive, I invite you to do a backup/backup copy of the files you want to move.  Get an external drive that is large enough to contain the files and copy (not move) the files on the external drive.  Who will protect them against losses if something goes wrong during the move to the new internal drive, or if the new internal drive fails later.

After having checked that the external hard drive has copies of the files, move the files using the method described above.

  • Where can I find the Documents and Settings folder or the folder on Vista?

I need to find a Real Player file file so I can delete it, but am unable to find the floder Documents and Settings.  I need to delete a file called treestate.dat but am unable to find... Help, please!

    In Windows Vista user profiles

In Windows XP, 2000, 2003, user profiles are stored in c:\Documents and Settings. In Windows Vista, the profiles are now stored in c:\Users. You will see a folder c:\Documents and Settings in Windows Explorer in Vista, but you will also notice the shortcut icon on the folder, and you will not be able to access this folder. c:\Documents and Settings is now a junction Point. You can use the random dir command to see where c:\Documents and Settings point to or use the table below.

The following table lists the old profile path and the new path under Windows Vista.

    Old path

    New path

    \Documents and Settings

    \Users

    \Documents and Settings\Default User or
    %LogonServer%\NETLOGON\Default user

    \USERS\DEFAULT or

Records to take note of here are the folders in the path of all users. Many legacy applications that use outdated methods to solve the system folders, will solve the railways under C:\ProgramData when looking for common places. For example, the joint office can be resolved as C:\ProgramData\Desktop, however; This is actually a point of junction for C:\ProgramData\Users\Public\Desktop. A random entry in the C:\ProgramData folder dir reveals the following Junction Points:

  • Why my saved documents appear in a library, as well as in the folder I created specifically for this document?

In all series of Windows 2000 and Vista I could make a folder, click and drag a document I had saved in my documents, in this specific case.  In Windows 7, you have the libraries.  In the library named My Documents, I save a document and then make a folder to place this document in.  When I drag the document saved in the folder, it's now in both places.  I want the document to be only in the folder and not in My Documents.  It makes it more confusing and harder to find what I saved.  I'm very organized and when I find something I want in one place only.  I tried following the steps of your help in Windows 7 and what I had lost, and it took me hours to find and retrieve.  I do a lot of genealogy and save these images like the pages of the book, death certificates, Census pages, etc.  I have folders for each of the categories I have to put my data found in.

I want just the data that I saved in the library named My Documents in one place, a specific folder, I created.  Not displayed in the library, as well as in the record, that's two places the same item of data is then saved.  Where all my files appear in the library named My Documents and I can open the file and find my data easily. If I delete the data in one place it automatically deletes it where ever else the same data is stored. This double economy takes up space on my drive hard but, making it harder to find what I saved.  It's very frustrating.  What happened to just drag file and data automatically moves to the location that you specify and remote where you drugs.  I don't like this feature in Windows 7.  It is too complicated and causes a lot of confusion.  I'm not a computer teckie and dislikes change my system.   How can I fix it?

It's what you did in Windows 7, and what I end up with.

    Library

My Documents (why do two places named My Documents?)

My Documets (my first data here) (what drugs and has dropped to a specific folder, it should go away from here and only appear in the folder)

The folder I created. (data from drug and dropped in the file, the copy of the saved data stays in My Documents, the two places, why?)

No duplicates are created, you are simply watching the same file from two different angles.  I know this response is long, but it will explain...

The libraries are not different records or specific sites.  They are in fact just combined views.  Put literally, they work like this: when you open your document library, it performs a search of two locations: your documentsand records of public documents , then you show every file or folder, it finds in these locations.  The point is to give you a point of view combined all documents which you interest, wherever they are.  If you have documents on a network drive or an external hard drive, you could say the library to get those Word files and include them in the combined view.

When you save something in a library, the library puts it right in the default location (in this case, the default value would be something like C:\Users\John\Documents) and it starts to appear in the result of the research of the library.  If you delete something, you remove the original: we never two copies, or whatever it is, the library is just there to combine several locations to make it easier to see everything at once.
You think that you have no use for it - and you could very well be right.  If this is the case, just use it normally and don't bother not including additional folders in the library.  That is to say, just pretend that your document library is your Documents folder.
I, on the other hand, use it like this: I have a lot of movies, TV series, video clips and other video content.  So he took several hard drives.  I said to my video library to show all these places so that I can browse all my movies from a library, rather than to try to remember which drive a particular show was performed.
