  You can try to use the administrator account and try to access the folder.

  You can also try to restore the file to the previous version and check if it helps:

  b. navigate to the User\Public folder, right click and then click on restore previous versions.

• Deliver the profile of the user - My Documents folder moved to C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP. I can't view or access this folder to copy My Documents back. Help?

  XP Home SP3 on my laptop (no not in network - independent).

  After an Adobe Reader 10 X installed, there is a reboot, and when I logged in the profile that appeared was not mine - it was as if it was a new installation. I looked for my personal documents under My Documents and did not find them. So, I looked for them on the C: drive, found (no not noted where), and copied My Documents to what seemed like the name /my Documents /. After that, I could access my documents by clicking Start-My Documents online. I did another reboot. Now, after login, my old profile is displayed, and the My Documents folder is empty except for the value by default my pictures, my music, my videos, and favorite - and these are all basically empty.

  I then ran a program Search and Recover to find my documents - they were found under C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP\. Unfortunately, I can't seem to see that to explore (I have it configured to display the hidden files and folders). Is it possible to go to this folder and the moving my Documents back to my profile?

  I used the reg file to restore the C:\Users\Public\Documents folder, but after the restoration, it's the name shows just like Documents, not as public Documents.  Some software specifically want that name of Public Documents, so how can I get the name to show this way?  (Name change isn't the answer.)

  I wonder if there is a misunderstanding here... Of JWS (Hi new JW!) link is a useful guide to restore accidentally deleted items, but reading your q you say you "can still access using the shortcut" then it is more than it's missing from the library of documents rather than have been deleted?

  If so you need to go to the users of OS - Public - public Documents highlight - right click and select 'Include in the library' and choose 'documents '.

  When a new workspace is created, a "public documents" folder is automatically generated. However, persons who are not participants of the workspace cannot access the public documents folder.   How non-participants try to access the public Documents folder? Users who are not non-public a workspace participants should be able to access the folder of Public Documents via a content-dav URL, but not by the customer of collaborative team itself. Dav content to the public Documents folder URL is most likely of the form:

  http://content/dav///public Documents.

  Another way to determine the URL must right-click on a document in the public Documents folder, select "copy...". ', paste the link into the URL address bar and delete the name of the document to the end of the URL.

  Users may also be able to use o (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/beehive/beehive_users/2_0/obee.htm) to access the public Documents folder in the workspace.

  This just started recently. I get an icon in my taskbar with a popup saying "servicehost.defaultGrp: aolsoftware.exe - file is corrupt." Run a chkdsk command"I get a few other file errors that pop up in C:\Users\Public. I can't do anything with the record now. Cannot open, can't delete it, nothing. I'm just tired of the error message will appear. Here's a report from chkdsk.

  Recently, I lost my the user documents folder and it recovered (by good help here).  However in my work to solve the problem the blue Documents folder icon under the folder Documents (user) Windows icon colored in an ordinary vanilla folder icon.  Then is the same thing to my real user (name) folder icon, he went to a single file of vanilla.  I don't remember how I did it.

  1. you try to change folder icon?
  2. you are trying to change your user account picture?

  If so, I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

  Method 1: Follow the link and check if that helps.
  Choose a picture for your user account and start menu

  Method 2: Restore the default settings of the folder my documents and check if it helps.

  (a) right click on My Documents.

  (b) click on properties.

  (c) go to previous Versions.

  (d) click on Restore Defaults.

  (e) click OK.

  Method 3: Rebuild the icon cache and check if it helps.

  (a) open Folder Options to select (round) show hidden files and folders.

  (b) open a Windows Explorer window.

  c) go to C:\Users\(User Name) \AppData\Local

  (d) right-click on IconCache.db and click on delete.

  (e), click Yes to confirm the deletion.
  NOTE: This removes the file to the trash. It is safe to empty the trash when you are done.

  (f) close the window.

  (g) empty the trash.

  (h) restart the computer.

  (i) when you return, you will notice the size of the file IconCache.db is reduced, and the update is now the current date. (See screenshot below)
  NOTE: If for some reason any IconCache.db isn't there or the size has not changed much, then just restart the computer again. You may need to restart a few times in some cases.

  (j) cache icon has been rebuilt.

  Method 4: If you try to change the icon of a folder, follow these steps and check if that helps.
  (a) right click on the folder that you want to change the icon.
  (b) go to properties.
  (c) go to the Customize tab.
  (d) click on change icon.
  (e) select the icon you want and click OK.

  Right-click in the document library, click Properties.  Choose here, whether you want the public location to not use (or you can even remove it completely).  You can also choose which location is used as the default save location.

However there is a visible folder of Documents with all my folders and files available so I haven't lost anything.   This is my first post.  I finally got so tired of not being able to access My Documents files (files stored in users / folder withname/My Documents) on my PC - or on the PC of my friends they bring to me for repair - when a re-install OS has had to accomplish, that I thought I would try adding a new account to the security settings of my My Documents folder to allow these files to be accessible by the new operating system.  Don't you think it would work?  It could be classified as undesirable from a security point of view, but it would do the job?
