Purchase of a new SSD
Hi guys,.
I hope you can help me with my question.
I want to improve the SSD unit who came inside Lenovo Ideapad U510 mi. But when searching, I found a wide variety of these units of different brands and prices.
My question is if any unit 2.5 SSD "will go down in my laptop? or I have to search with additional criteria of the product that adapts to my laptop?
Thank you very much for your answers
Watch as it takes a sata 9.5 mm standard 2.5 "hdd/ssd, I recommend you buy a Samsung 830 or 840 notebook kit or an Intel SSD, I had problems with another brand with BSOD.
Oh, Yes, some info and video on how to disassemble your U510

Mac Pro early 2008 OS 10.6.8 at 10.11 on a new SSD upgrade
Hi all!
I want to spend my Mac Pro hard drive to an SSD with a new installation of El Capitan, but I also want to continue to use Adobe CS3 (I can't afford a new version... > _ <). I read that some people have a lot of problems after upgrading their operating system, even when you use the legacy of Java 6 to CS3.
Someone at - it good tutorials step by step to install a new OS on a SSD? I have the adapter for my Mac to use the SSD drive also. I'm not * that * tech savvy, so I don't want to spoil anything! :\
Would it not be possible to keep my current hard drive with Snow Leopard and run Parallels or Fusion for Adobe CS3 on my SSD? I've never used Parallels or Fusion (preferences?), so where the Snow Leopard operating system to be need? On a partition on the SSD or can it be on its own hard drive (the one I'm currently using)?
Also do not know when I improve my OS, how do I tell my Mac to start El Capitan and not Snow Leopard so I keep the older operating system on its own hard drive? It is system-> startup disk preferences? Is that how I can go back, if I need to?
Here are my specs:
Mac Pro early 2008 (MacPro 3,1)
Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 Ghz
16 GB RAM 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
HARD drive 500GBx2 (one is currently my Time Machine, I'll use it as a backup of my photos)
500GB SSD (no not in my Mac still installed)
4 TB HARD drive (will have Time Machine on half)
El Capitan would be really slow on my Mac Pro or should I go with the Mavericks or Yosemite? I'm just trying to extend the life of my Mac as long as possible!
I'm really sorry for all the questions! Thank you very much for any help! ^____^
~ Christina ~.
-Unless you have already "purchased" Mavericks or Yosemite is is not available for download.
-I just download the installer of El Capitan from the Mac App Store and run it and order that EL Capitan to be installed on the new SSD. You can then by pressing the Option key at startup to choose which version of the OS you want to boot from. You can set either as the default startup in system preferences > startup disk.
-During installation, you use the configuration wizard to migrate SN drive stuff. YO can also do it later using Migration Assistant but who has created a new used with the migrated data.
-With 16 GB of RAM and an SSD El Capitan will be fine

Satellite L855-149 - migration Windows 8 to new SSD, including recovery partitions
Hello
I just bought a new (840 EVO 250 GB) SSD for my L855-149 and I would like to reinstall windows 8 on this new SSD. In addition, I would like to migrate all the recovery partitions that are present on the HARD disk plant.
What is the best way to do it?
Is there a tool to Toshiba for that? I don't have the installation for Windows 8 diskettes. Please notify.
Hello
On Toshiba laptops, you can always find a preinstalled tool called creator Toshiba average recovery.
This tool creates the recovery (disk or flash USB stick) media
With the help of this recovery media, you will be able to put the laptop to factory condition, including all partitions that were available the first day of the purchase. -
Can I clean install on HP vista 32 to Win 7 Professional 64 with new ssd dv3
Can someone tell me please
I have 2 questions:
1: if I enter new SSD in my pavilion dv3, running on vista 32-bit, can I then install new version recently purchased windows 7 Professional 64-bit instead of 32 bit installation, or should it be 32-bit. ?
2: I printed a Wiindows 7 upgrade report and it says that my processor is: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU [email protected] with 3 GB of memory and it says my upgrade options are 32-bit windows 7 Home premium or ultimate. This does not change and will it work with the professional version, because it will be a clean install on a new ssd?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Hello:
The T6500 is a 64-bit processor.
As a result, you should have no problem upgrade from Vista 32 bit to W7 64-bit.
You must start from the W7 x 64 installation DVD. You cannot run it from a 32-bit windows desktop.
When you get to the install window now and click Next, the upgrade option will be grayed out.
You must perform a custom (clean) installation when moving from a 32-bit to a 64-bit operating system.
I'm not quite sure on why it is said that you cannot move to W7 Pro if you can upgrade to W7 Ultimate.

HP DV8t: Problems of migration origin to new SSD HD Win7 OS.
Hi all!
I have a laptop HP DV8t. The laptop computer was purchased with Windows 7 64-bit and 2 x 500 GB hard drives. I would like to replace the hard drive with a 80 GB Intel SSD.
Immediate problem, it's that I can just install Windows 7 on SSD because the recovery disks will not accept a smaller than 500 GB HARD drive.
What I've done so far:
Fact reset factory + formatted hard drives.
Replaced with SSD 80 GB secondary hard drive, then the Acronis Migrate tool used to clone the content of the main drive to SSD.
Put SSD drive as primary drive, replace (empty) 500 GB secondary drive.
Problem: when connecting, I get a blue screen that says "this version of windows is not original" and can't do anything.
I try again. Repeat the process until the SSD as drive, but now as secondary drive, put the drive of 500 GB (with BONES) where I cloned the operating system.
No blue screen during the connection. Things seem to be ok, I see the windows logo on the SSD drive in my computer so assume that windows runs on the SSD. Problem: Now the windows installer will not work. Most of the programs are not installed, which gives an error to windows installer. I can't update the installer online because it is now suspended indefinitely. Also I can't update things such as .net framework (more error installation). This essentailly means that the laptop does not work because I can't run anything on this subject.
All the tips are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Saladin
It works and notice I said 'will' and not 'must '. It should work though, as I've done it before.
Download the ISO of Windows 7 Home Premium files and create the W7 installation disc (burn) a detail of W7.
http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/
Version what ever you use it must match what the computer came with, so your W7 product key will work on the underside of the laptop.
If you need help with burning ISO files or make the drive, post again _ don't forget to verify the disc after burning or it won't work.
Follow this tutorial to install W7.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/OperatingSystems/SS/Windows-7-clean-install-part-1.htm
The tutorial has you erase the drive to install W7 on, it is important to remove the entire disk, not just format it. After you remove the drive to let the W7 disk format automatically, don't do it yourself.
In your case, you have made such a mess trying to install W7, you must use the W7 installation disc to remove all information damaged on the drive. If there are any partitions on the disk, delete those too. You'll end up creating "Unallocated" space on the entire disk, and that's what you want.
Continue Setup and install it as a trial, when it's done, right click on "Computer" and select "Properties".
At the bottom of this page to find 'change product key '. A click on it and follow the directions to enter the product key for the laptop.
The instructions above are very important so follow them exactly or it won't work. It will take about 20 minutes to install W7 and 2 hours to download the ISO from Digital River files.
First, install your chipset driver.
Start the automatic driver finder to install the most recent.
http://www.Intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?IID=dc_iduu
He'll also find one for your Intel WiFi card as appropriate.
Then install your video driver, here a direct from NVIDIA.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-Win7-WinVista-64bit-296.10-WHQL-driver.html
Install the rest of your drivers here.
Also, install technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver from the link above.
Install the drivers in the order that I posted to them. If you need help with the rest of the drivers or get the hot key bezel to work (bass and treble _ volume _ eject) and then validate again.
Do not use the command utility of tone on your support page, it is corrupted and it will not solve HP.
In all cases, save the installation on the desktop files and install them from there, not in a temporary folder.
You don't have secondary hard disk, none of this has nothing to do with it, it is only used as a storage drive. When you follow the tutorial it will show up there (you'll see what I mean, when you get there), just ignore it and only deal with your new SSD.
I have a dv8 so I know exactly what to do.

Original title: re-install Windows 7
Hello. I recently built my own PC and installed a purchased copy of Windows 7 hard disk. I'm upgrading to an SSD 120 GB and I was wondering if there was a way completely erase my old hard drive for all files and all re - install windows using my CD key and product. I heard that once you use the product key, the copy of Windows is 'married' to this hard drive and the key cannot be used anywhere else. Is this true? Basically, I'm doing a clean install on this new SSD. Thank you.
Not at all, you can erase and reinstall Windows as many times as you want as long as you have the product key. The only restriction is that the key can be used only on one computer at a time. Unless this key is used somewhere else, you can install a billion times. The key is what you pay for, not the CD (in fact, if you lose the CD you can download another copy, but you need to keep your secret key).
In any case, the process is simple: just put in the CD and restart and follow the steps to install. When you get calls that lead to install on, you have options to format (erase) the drive and basically start over completely.
The only real thing you need to know is that, after the installation, you will need to go to the computer manufacturer's website and download the drivers for your computer. According to the computer, you may need to get the driver of network from another computer and copy it using a flash drive (if the network needs the driver before it can connect).

Install the new SSD, HOW can I do?
Computer works fine. Dell XPS 9100 Studio. I would like to install a 250 GB SSD to keep the operating system and make it faster. Have the SSD. How can I do this?
Hello Ian,
I hope that the drive came with a set of instructions to physically install the disk. Those who follow very carefully. Installation of equipment is beyond the scope of this site, although the SSD manufacturer probably has a website similar to this one. Go and learn what it takes!
Once the hard drive is in place, you have two choices, you can migrate the operating system of your existing HARD drive or new install it from a system disk or a hidden Partition. Either way is acceptable.
To migrate the operating system from the HDD to the SSD, I recommend a freeware AOMEI Partition Wizard program, download here: http://download.cnet.com/AOMEI-Partition-Assistant-Standard-Edition/3000-18512_4-75118871.html .
Follow the instructions of programs very carefully, and as an extra precaution, I'd like to backup my HARD drive before transferring the OS or even install a fresh OS - just in case. According to the reader that you have purchased, there may be a driver with it, disc if yes, it would be the time to add it in.
Finally, you will need to go into BIOS to change the boot order if your new SSD drive becomes drive C, and your current HARD drive will become the drive "D:\". ».
Let me know if this helps you.
Kind regards

Cannot restore the backup of the image to the new SSD, said player is not connected
Windows 7-64 bits, hardware upgrade of the HP DM1Z.
I have a computer HP DM1Z. "Home Premium" Windows 7 64-bit (again, as in Feb)
I decided to replace the current hard drive 320 GB WD with an Intel X 25 - M 80 GB SSD drive.Initially, I bought Acronis ' True Image ' to do the download of the OS (the computer has not much on since it's new).Computer problem closing occurred. A few times my attempts. Acronis has been unable to solve this problem. I cancelled the Acronis.Decided to call HP. I did a 'clone' on 4 DVDs via an external DVD burner.I swapped hard drives. At startup, I've indexed PF9 & got the "Recovery Manager". Keyed "Minimizes Image Recovery" to re - install the operating system. Progress was halted when a pop-up "target drive is not connected". I tried this same routine with "Recovery System", and the end result is the same. With "HP support", I keyed PF10 and did a diagnostic test. The new SSD worked. "HP support" indicates problem was probably the Windows 7 software.I had checked the Microsoft Web site, and the Intel X 25-M is compatible with Windows 7, 64 bit. What gives? Registry software is with the motherboard, I think. Replace large GGB to small GGB SSD hard drives seem to be no problems from what I've read. What solution can there be? What I need to re-purchase the retail of Windows 7 to replace the OEM Windows 7 to make it work? This is not good.would appreciate help from anyone in this case. Thank you.Hello Terabushi

Should I partition my new SSD once I install it?
End of 2011 MBP 17 inch
A new SSD Crucial. I have heard some say that you should partition the new drive before you reinstall a new copy of Mac OS x. Is this true?
Yes. True for all new hard drives or readers drawn from non-Apple computers. Here's what you can do:
Net Clean Install of El Capitan
- Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime, press Command + Option + R until a globe appears.
- The Utility Menu appears in 5 to 20 minutes. Be patient.
- Select disk utility, then click on the continue button.
- When loading disk utility, select the drive (generally, the entry Out-bumpy) in the list aside.
- Click on the Erase tab in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.
- Set the GUID partition scheme.
- Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
- Click on the apply button, then click the fact when it is active.
- Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
- Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.
