  I use vCAC 6 and I'm in trouble by installing the "vCloud Automation Center Designer.

  On the second screen, it asks for model Manager Web Service host name: Port (FQDN) but all combinations, I could imagine lance the error message "host name invalid or there is no model Manager service running on the specified host Web.»

  My hostname vCAC IS: vcac.miempresa.net

  Hi Alain, I'm not a specialist for vCloud Automation Center, but it appears on the site KB, that you are connected and the product/downloads page linked from there that 5.1 is no longer a free trial available. I'm not an authority on the subject but if you can talk to your local VMware team or hope someone else answers here.

  My apologies, a little slow on the response!

  vCloud Datacenter Services addresses in the enterprise space, and only a handful of providers a global level have this certification.  This essentially means that their environments have been jointly designed by VMware and the provider.  They use vCloud Director and expose the vCloud API.

  vCloud Powered suppliers such as StratoGen have built their own environments, but to be certified powered vCloud you must be a partner of provider for VMware Service (VSPP), deployment vCloud Director and expose the vCloud API.  You have a choice of billing models based on the 3 types of data center virtual in vCloud Director - fixed monthly allowance & booking pool models and variable rates by the hour on Pay plans pay as You Go.

  So the difference is really what you consider the market to be in - if you need a global business player then you should watch vCloud Datacenter Services, if you are into SMB or Mid market, then you should probably look vCloud Powered suppliers.

  Many vCloud providers offer a free test drive of their services, so you can try with zero commitment.

  vCloud Express was supposed to be the answer to VMware for Amazon EC2 - instant access to vCloud resources, only credit card payment, distribution plans by the payment of hours only.  Only a few ever offered vCloud Express providers.  You always vCloud Director, but you will see that there is nothing on the vCloud ecosystem as it rolled into vCloud Powered.

• vRealize Agents of Proxy for the Automation Center

  I have a vRA 6.2 installation, installed a proxy for Hyper-v agent and tried to set up the same as an endpoint. I'm running into two issues during the process.

  Question No. 1:

  When I try to create an endpoint after you create the proxy agent, the ability to choose "Hyper-v", as the type of the end point is missing. The only option I see is "vSphere. Now, this makes me think there is a problem with the initial installation of the vRA framework. I enclose the screen turned to the message.

  Have any one seem this before? What are the condition that the final option please (even before configuring it)? Already checked the licensing part. Support attaches to understand. The proxy agent shows online and very much. But there is some instance where to choose "Super v" as an endpoint is available even before you install agents. (including VMware lab)

  Question 2:

  Even after uninstalling the proxy on the server of IaaS agents, agents are still displayed in VRA-> infrastructure-> setting-> agents, prevents us from make the trials more that we are not able to add the same "Compute resource" with a proxy agent different, even after uninstalling the proxy agent. It's just the multiplication of the obsolete entries that support is still studying on it as well. Is there a way we can force delete the reference agent proxy in the VRA? I have uninstall agents using Windows Add or remove programs and cannot find the appropriate steps to uninstall a proxy agent.

  For some reason, I think the two issues can be interrelated. I restarted the server several times to verify.

  Your Correct, after spending some time with support, it has been the granting of licenses, when we entered VRA Advanced Suite licenses. It worked.

  Her reason why we discarded before licenses, there was another case where the same key is used option Hyper v was available, the only difference is the species has been headed as VCAC and put at level VRA. So technically if you VCAC instance with vCloud Advanced suite you will have the option to go to the top of endpoint of Hyper v, and you upgrade that instance to VRA with the same license key, the endpoint options are preserved. (Not so smart)

  Regarding the "Incidents2":

  It seems REALLY have no feature that would automatically dsregard uninstalled proxy agents. You need run a SQL query that is provided by helping remove computers that aren't actiuve. So best approach not to install agents in VRA unless absolutely necessary.

  The question did not help the reputation of VRA.

• vCloud vCAC Automation unit distributed Installation Architecture Center second device does not record services

  I work at the vCAC 6.0 installation in a distributed architecture for a production environment.  I have deployed the device of the identity, configuration Netscaler for balancing the load, configure external postgreSQL, followed vCloud Automation Center Documentation until you restart the vcac-server the vcac appliance second service and it never starts or registers the services on the second device vcac.

  The first aircraft arrives as it should and works through the just right load balancer.  After restarting the service vcac-server and 20 minute wait I can't to the second application directly bypassing the load balancer to access the page of the shell-ui-app.  Connect to the console of the second application I tail'ed the output of /var/log/vcac/catalina.out and used netstat - year to view the ports used.  Port 443 just never came up.

  I have filed a ticket with support but thought someone might have fallen on this and can help in the meantime.

  The problem has been resolved with the GA vCAC 6.1 version and using the HA tab for additional devices.

• requests for resources vCloud and approval

  Dear people,

  Please keep if this is a noob question. But I'm new to vCloud Director. I lived all official documentation to deploy and manage VMware vCloud Director. But not where I found the user topic request for additional resources through the web portal and its approval process. This requires any integration or possible only with vCloud Director himself?

  Please help me clarify the same.

  A licensing system can be accomplished by using the blocking tasks and vCenter Orchestrator. Basically, Orchestrator would listen to tasks to create or clone vApps, as well as the tasks would not go until a manager approves.   vCloud Automation Center probably manage this as well...

• Missing BluePrints in vCAC

  Hello

  Just had my VCAC upward and running. First thing I notice is that I am only able to create clouds and virtual plans.

  HyperV, Xen and physical creation is missing from the menu drop-down (see screenshot). The guide I followed is Kendricks (http://www.kendrickcoleman.com/index.php/Tech-Blog/how-to-install-vcloud-automation-center-vcac-60-part-1-identity-appliance.html)

  Please let me know what I'm missing here.

  This is due to the fact that you are using licenses Suite vCloud, which are CPU - based.
  Since 5.X licensing changed a bit, so that the licenses Suite vCloud would allow connect only vSphere / vCloud endpoints, since theoretically, if this were not the case, one could purchase license suite CPU 1-vCloud and managing their KVM/Hyper-V environment.

  If you need other frames of the hypervisor, you need separate vCAC advanced licenses, that are sold based on the managed object.

• vRA 6.2 - Business Group exists in the vRA Web GUI, is not listed by the vCAC Plugin in vRO

  I have this strange situation, where a business group is displayed in the Web GUI, I can modify its permissions, VMs, etc, the list is fully functional. Also, when I choose a computer virtual set up by a member of this group in the vRealize Orchestrator vCAC Plugin, I get the appropriate parent (Organization) displayed.

  However, the Group of companies is not displayed in the plugin under vCloud automation Center--> hostname--> Administration--> business groups, I also tried earlier with Server.findAllForType ("vCACCAFE:BusinessGroup"), without success.

  Someone in the face of the question before?

  Had to reinstall plugins vCAC vRO, charging only for them did not help.

• VRA unable to create groups of companies with the same name in different tenants with vRO

  Through the vRA GUI I can create groups of companies with the same names in different tenants as follows:

  Tenant1: BusGroup1, BusGroup2, BusGroup3

  However, to create business groups with the same names in different tenants via the vRO, specifically the workflow plugin Library / vCloud Automation Center / Administration / Business groups / create a group of companies, fails in the second tenant with the below error:

  If I change the naming convention to be different by tenant, then I have no problem. I thought it might be a restriction in the product, but as said I was able to create with the names of same origin through the user interface.

  Anyone experience the same thing?

  This is a known problem within IaaS API the plugin vRO uses to manage groups of companies through business groups workflows. You don't have the same problem of the vRA UI because the user interface (according to the 6.x) does not use the same API IaaS to manage groups of companies.

  The only alternative to 6.x for now is to directly use the helper generic entity Manager plug-in itself. You can take a look at the first example in example CRUD Infrastructure tasks management Scripts.

• VCD to vCAC migration

  I need an idea (links, a direct opinion, whatever it is) in the migration process from vCD to vCAC. We are in a position where we don't yet went live with our environment our customers internal (there is no public offering of this service). We have about 200 offices/orgs around the United States who will be served by this product, each (now) with its own it infrastructure and methodologies. Our current environment has vCD and executes v5.5 iirc. In my research, it has been said that a migration tool was promised (http://searchcloudcomputing.techtarget.com/news/2240204421/VMware-splits-vCloud-Director-into-vCenter-vCloud-Automation-Center)

  Specifically I asked;

  1. is there currently a migration white paper / plan / Utility / tool / process in place of VMware? Links to these information would be greatly appreciated

  2. What are the specific pain points in this transition?

  3. Since no customer still not served by vCD, this will facilitate the transition?

  4. any other thought or resources I could use to help guide my executives about the process.

  Most of the information I could glean from superficial research has been starting in 2013-2014 and seemed to be a little dated especially with the release of vRealize v6.x and vCAC.

  I took a different approach to our migration vCD.  I went to a route that starts from the principle that we want to re - use the same hardware and make a migration of style "in place".  I'm not looking to create machine model maps any multi for each virtual machine in a fair TIME will become a vm to stand alone in vCAC.  Workflows take a VAPP as the input and makes a loop on each virtual machine and follow these steps:

  Assumptions - vCAC has been implemented to manage resources that these virtual machines currently use in vCD and the virtual computers appear in the inventory vCAC as unmanaged vms.

  1. stop each vm

  2. vApp stop

  3. delete all snapshots

  4 consolidate records

  5. make a backup of the original .vmx file for each virtual machine.

  6 to update the configuration of virtual machine to remove the cloud.uuid value and update the value of displayName be vm name less the uuid of vCD.  It's ok to do in our environment, that it does not duplicate hostnames in use.

  7 unregister the virtual machine from vCenter

  8. create a new folder and vmx file and move the virtual disks to this new folder.

  9 save the new vmx (keep the UUID)

  10. rename the entity vm vCAC to match the name in vCenter

  11 run the workflow vCAC plugin named 'Import vCenter Virtual Machine.

  12 remove the VAPP vCD

  This process worked great for us.  I hope this helps.

• Question automate several tenants in vRO

  Hello

  I am struggling with managing several tenants with vRO and vRA.

  Currently there are a couple of tenants that are attached to a device unique vRO, but am looking to automate fully (fabric/Business groups, reservations, profiles of build, plans, etc..)

  VRO, we have only the default tenant set up (under vCAC Infrastructure Administration) because I can't add others. The tenant by default, I can't handle some of the above.

  It is advisable to deploy an instance of separate vRO to each tenant?

  Running vRO version 6.0.1 and vRA version 6.2.1

  To add a tenant in vRO, I run the workflow Library/vCloud Automation Center/Configuration/add a host vCAC.  This workflow ask you the name of the tenant.  So for me in the inventory, I have several entries under vCloud Automation Center.  Sometimes I even different instances for the same tenant, just using a different connection.
