Q. R50e 1834-S5g 05/09 HD upgrade Type?

Hi everyone this is my first post here. I own the thinkpad as displayed in the subject line. I would like to know if there is a method to upgrade the HARD drive to one with a greater capacity of 160 GB. I'm not very technical re computers so if there is a simple and direct method that would be great.

I hope someone out there can help, because it's a great laptop that just need more storage space.

Thank you Glenn

You need a PATA SSD, and they are quite expensive.

That being said, an SSD makes sense if you meet W7 from XP has a lot of questions when combined with SSD in my experience. If it was my R50e, I would stick with ordering conventional rotation and XP.

Good luck.

    Welcome to the forum!

The 'network controller' in question is your WiFi (Intel 2200BG) card and the driver is here:

    http://download.Lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/PC/pccbbs/mobiles/6hwc05ww.zip

After downloading and unzipping, you need to go to C > drivers > win > Wlanint and run the Setup file from there.

    Good luck.

Computer: HP Pavilion G/1070 us laptop. Original OS W7 64 Home Premium SP1

15 Aug-2914, I had some freezes and problems of instability and learned on the web that a upgrade type installation could clean debris from its difficult use of several years.  I went on the website anytime upgrade Microsoft and bought an Anytime Upgrade for W7 64 SP1 PROFESSIONAL and installed from the Internet Anytime site. The key to the new system has been inserted automatically and a copy sent to me by email with the reception that I printed.

The process went well and in the end my initial home screen was displayed. I checked email and tried a few other tasks, and everything seemed fine... I clicked stop, and (as I remember) a stream of file system names began to scroll to the bottom of the screen indicating that they were part of the upgrade process. I turned off the computer.

This morning, I restarted Windows and experienced some of the friezes original and instability... I reasoned that if I restarted the install of Win 7 Premium and careful I might be able to check updates and fix the problem. This was not possible. The Windows Anytime Upgrade site rejected the upgrade key that I was copying the receipt of Email for my purchase (I tried at least 10 times). I could not find any contact information on the site and I noticed that my received email was sent from an unmonitored address.

  • Recovery CD does not start

    Hello

I have an old IBM ThinkPad R50e (1834-PTG). When I originally bought in 2003, I created a set of recovery 6 CDs I kept this set in a place course and decided today to recover the laptop factory settings. The problem is that the computer won't start any recovery of 6 CDs (does not start other CD bootable without problem). CDs are not empty and contains a directory named "RECOVERY" with a bunch of files that it contains.

I tried to use specify the CD-ROM drive as first boot device, to use F12 to specify the device, nothing helps.

How can I use these CD?

I found a ghost image, which is the result of a whole new R51. I'll be able to use it to recover my system? Will be the key of Windows that came with my computer work with this image?

Well, it turns out that there was another drive (surprise) the names "Recovery boot CD. Now, the recovery process begins without any problem.

    Dear all

    Greetings

I am a newcomer to this forum and would like to ask your help.

    My laptop: -.

    IBM Thinkpad R50e 1834 /model A58/type.

Disk HARD-40 GB of memory-750 GB

Home Edition OS - XP Winsdow.

    My problem: -.

My LCD has been blurred for more than a month. I see that a very small image with the help of a magnifying glass and a light live.

After downloading LCD/video driver from the IBM web site and it makes no difference.

Please help me solve the problem.

Your CCFL Backlight may be dead or dying on you. You would need to replace the CCFL (difficult) or replace the LCD entirely (maybe you should just get a new laptop).

    Hello

Your question of Windows is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro on Windows Home Server public. Please post your question in the Windows Home Server appropriate Forum. You can follow the link to your question:

  • Need info.

HP Pavilion AY014AA-ABA aa4310f desktop PC

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    Card mother Narra6

I would like to know if this motherboard (narra6) would support a Solid State Drive Corsair Force 3 SATA III and that this motherboard can support an AMD Phenonm II x 4 945 Deneb 3.0 GHz quad-core processor and if it it's going to be ok on the cooling fan that came with this PC.

Here is the link to the specifications of the system;  http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01949097

Here is the link to the motherboard plug;  http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01925534

    I would say that this system looks like it will support the SSD Corsair Force 3 SATA III to SATA II transfer rate only. You won't realize the full potentail of the player in this system, but it should work. As for the CPU, read below;

Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades: type of Socket: AM3, TDP: 95 watts
    AMD Phenom II X 4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb)
    AMD Phenom II X 3 Triple-Core (Heka) 7xx/7xxe
    AMD Phenom II X 2 5xx (Callisto)
    II AMD Athlon X 4 6xx/6xxe (undactylopodite)
    AMD Athlon II X 3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)
    AMD Athlon II X 2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)
    AMD Sempron 1xx (Sargas)

So, the AMD Phenom II x 4 945 Deneb will work provided that it is one of these plateau AMD numbers; HDX945WFK4DGI, HDX945WFK4DGM... As regards to the cooling goes, the stock cooler should do as well. But it never hurts to have a very good configuration HSF.

  • SRM point again vCenter

We have decided to take our guests to a new vCenter and don't want a lot with SRM (it is installed on its own virtual machine in the environment and use a MRD).

To have a quick glance I think I should be able to do a repair on the existing installation of the SRM and point to the new vCenter, during repair I suppose it will ask the IP address of the new vCenter? As a result, I hope to be able to upgrade to 5.0 5.5.8, could I possibly do the upgrade and repoint at the same time?

I saw the article, but I guess I won't need to follow if the installation program updates the IP for me?

I think the best option is to do a fresh install, because if you plan to switch to version 5.8, this upgrade path is not supported, take a peek: upgrade of Site Recovery Manager

    Important

The upgrade of Site Recovery Manager 5.0.x Site Recovery Manager 5.8 is not supported. Upgrade of Site Recovery Manager 5.0.x to a release of Manager5.5.x of Site recovery before upgrade you to Site Recovery Manager 5.8. See upgrading of Site Recovery Manager in the documentation of the Site Recovery Manager 5.5 for more information on the upgrade of 5.0.x to 5.5.x.

And see what are the documents tells a new installation of vCenter and the MIS upgrade: Types of upgrade that supports Site Recovery Manager

    Type of upgrade

    Description

    Support

Update the Site Recovery Manager on-site

The easiest way to upgrade. This path is to upgrade instances of server vCenter Site Recovery Manager-related before the upgrade of Site Recovery Manager server. Run the new version of the Site Recovery Manager installer on the Recovery Manager Server host computer, connect to the existing database of existingSite.

    Yes

Site Recovery Manager with migration update

This path includes improving the vCenter Serverinstances associated with Site Recovery Managerbefore the upgrade of Site Recovery Manager server. To migrate the Site Recovery Manager to a different host or a virtual machine as part of the upgrade of Site Recovery Manager, stop the existing Site Recovery Manager server. Do not uninstall the previous version of the Site Recovery Manager Server and make sure you keep the contents of the database. Run the new version of Site Recovery Manager installer on the new host or virtual machine, connect to the existing database.

    Yes

New vCenter Server installation with migration ofSite Recovery Manager

Create new facilities of vCenter Server and migrate these new instances of server vCenter Site Recovery Manager Server.

N ° you cannot migrate the Site Recovery Manager Server to a new installation of vCenter Server. Site Recovery Manager requires a single object on the server vCenter Server identifiers that are not available if you are using a new Serverinstallation vCenter. To use a new Serverinstallation vCenter, you must create a new Site Recovery Manager Server installation.

  • Passage of 10.2.0.5 to 11.2.0.3 - password problem

Servers: Linux 5 & 3 Windows (separate servers)

    Database: Oracle 10.2.0.5

    Update to: Oracle 11.2.0.3

Upgrade type: Inplace upgrade (DBUA) on the same servers

I'm about to start our Oracle Prodution of Oracle 10 g 11 g database and get a small question:

Will all databases of the service accounts or user names or the schema AND their passwords moved to the new environment?

I am especially worried about the password. I don't want to change them in the new environment. We have hundreds of jobs from anywhere in the world using these user names and password and do ' t want to change.

Example: Will be the username app_users and password (PassWordF@rAll)

can be used in the new environment of 11g?

    Thank you

    Albert

Since the binary 11.2.0.3 must be installed in a new ORACLE_HOME, upgrade is not an upgrade "on the spot" - I think that your definition of "on-site" refers to the same physical servers.

As a best practice, all updates should be one test cycle to ensure that the functionality of the application is not affected - preparation for the upgrade of the Oracle database

Oracle recommends to not use the character @ under the passwords, because it can be misnterpreted - Oracle Database Security. If you use the character @, join the password on quotes when used. Stating with 11g, passwords are case-sensitive - this option can be turned off - setting up authentication

It is recommended to follow all steps of the Guide of upgrade - materials - all accounts, IDs, passwords etc. will survive the upgrade - only extensive application testing can verify this.

I tried to upgrade this laptop from the factory of 512 MB to 1.5 GB. I got a Kingston 1 GB DDR - 333 SO-DIMM, but after I installed it, the laptop does not turn. Only the power led is lit.

I don't know why this happened, because all tests indicate that it should work.

    1. the new stick is ok. I tested it in another laptop and it worked. I also cleaned the contacts with isopropyl alcohol.

    2. the memory locations are ok. The old memory works in each slot.

    3. I tried to install the new one stick in a slot and it did not work.

    4. This update is officially supported by record of IBM and BIOS is up to date (v2.1, December 2006).

Unless I'm missing something there is a confusing question. Unfortunately, I don't have an another 1 GB DIMM to test with.
