Qosmio F10: USB-Boot necessary.

Hi all

I have a Toshiba Qosmio F10 series.
I need the ability to boot from a usb key.

As toshiba BIOS does not offer a USB boot option, I would like to ask if anyone knows a
how it will be possible.

Thanks in advance to all!

Hello

Unfortunately, this is not possible. You cannot boot from the Flash DRIVE or USB HDD.
You can start only from:
STRANGE machines FDD USB, HARD primary disk, Network (LAN)

  • Qosmio f10 - 137 boot problems with wireless

I bought the above my local PC World yesterday. Was to restore the system myself (only the demo model is available, do not have the time to wait for them to restore, so I accepted and ended up with 100 pounds).

Anyway, the problem-it hangs during startup, when it reaches the Windows desktop but no icons, menu start, task bar etc. If the communication wireless off switch is turned on, it boots correctly (it will even complete the boot if you stop after that it crashes).

The wireless works fine once started.

    Thank you

    Hello

    What demo was available?
As far as I know that the Toshiba come with a recovery CD. In this case, you must only retrieve the device with this CD. As Miro said that if you got this unit with the recovery CD, the operating system should work without any problems.
In addition, you can try to update the wireless driver.

  • USB data transfer is very slow on my Qosmio F10

    Hi all
For some reason, my Qosmio F10 see its 4 hubs USB 1.1 instead of 2.0.
Whenever I plug a USB key, I get a message that says that I connect a drive high speed in a hub not high speed. Boring!
The driver version is: 5.0.2.1001 (27.06.2003).
It doesn't seem to be a USB driver on 'download files' file for the Qosmio on the site of Toshiba UK.
Of course, I would not upgrade to the wrong driver...
    Any suggestion?

    Hello

Try to remove all listed USB ports in Device Manager and reboot the device. All ports will be recognized and installed again.

By the way: as much as I know there is no separate driver for the USB ports and as a result you can't find it.

  • Qosmio F10 - devices USB is not recognized correctly

    Hello
I had major problems with the USB ports on my Qosmio F10. Everytime I try to plug in a USB device, the F10 recognizes there is only something there, but always categorizes him as an unknown device. For example, whenever I try to attach a USB mouse, he is instantly recognizes her not, even after already spending in the Device Manager and manually install a driver.

This has been the case since I bought the laptop 5 months ago, but I can't ignore it any longer.

    I have already tried:

-uninstall all drivers and USB controller hub and reinstall
-ensuring that the power save to usb devices was unchecked
-check "install anyway" in the driver signing options

When I open the Device Manager my USB key looks like this

    -Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Controller - 24 CD
    -Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24 2 Serial
    -Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller Serial - 4 of 24
    -Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller - 24 7 Serial
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub

Any help on this is much appreciated as its driving me crazy :-)

    Hello

The entries in Device Manager look ok.
If the laptop recognizes the USB device, so everything is ok. If the device appears as an unknown device in Device Manager, you need a driver in particular. Sometimes, the external device needs a driver that should be supplied with the device.

I assume you are using the Toshiba Recovery CD. In this case then phone has pre-installed all the drivers needed and you don t need the 3rd USB controller drivers.

  • Qosmio F10: Edition of USB-mouse - how can I reinstal drivers USB port?

    Hello

I am the owner of a Qosmio F10 with Win XP MCE.

I have recently encountered problems with my USB ports I have 3 in my computer. It began with one of them and has now spread to the rest of them.

The problem occurs especially with my mouse. The mouse freezes and sometimes I hear the alarm which is generally issued when disconnected a device. Sometimes it restarts seconds later and sometimes I have to physically unplug my mouse and plug it back in to restart.

The problem also occurred with other devices that is my Ipod.

The problem could be related to lack of memory because it seems to me see more during the execution of the programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, etc., however I can't say that for sure.

Can I reinstal the drivers for the USB ports? I tried reinstalling my driver of mouse, with no effect.

Please note that I cannot go into 'Control panel' I get an error message and closes the window.

I hope someone can help me.

    Best regards

    Green tentacle

USB drivers are part of the Windows operating system. 3rd party USB drivers don t exist!
What you could do is to disconnect all USB devices and could remove the USB ports/hubs/controllers in Device Manager.

    Reboot the laptop.
After restarting again the operating system should recognize and install again the USB ports.
This accelerated procedure should help you

  • Cannot synchronize a turntable USB with Qosmio F10

I can't sync my turntable usb on my computer laptop qosmio F10.

To help me only you can get hub manufacturer. If you have any problems with some other external USB devices I guess there is no problem with the hardware, but probably software spirit.

Boyfriend sorry but I don't see any way to help here. You will be very happy if someone uses absolutely the same device USB and Qosmio F10 and to report on the experiences.

    Good luck!

  • Re: Blue screen after using the Qosmio F10 recovery CD

    Hello

I tried to use the recovery CD (XP) for my fathers Qosmio F10. I chose option 1 to return to the factory default. It seems to work fine but after it's over he says remove the CD and reboot I did. It was then restarted but flashed a blue screen for a split second before restarting. I did not see what is the Blue error screen, as it flashes up too fast. Then, it takes me to the configuration screen and asks me to choose whether to start Windows normally or SafeMode etc. All options give me the same result.

He said if I choose to boot to the last known good configuration:

"windows was not start because the following file is missing or damaged:
    \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\config\SYSTEM

You can try to repair this file by starting windows setup using the CD-ROM Moose
Select 'r' in the first screen to start repair. "

Of course, I do not have an original Windows CD, I just the recovery CD.

I checked to spit on the disc but its perfect.

I have a complete backup of all of the HDD on an external USB disk if that would help?

Don't know what to do next?

    So just in the summary;
You have checked the RAM, HARD drive and tried to install the Windows operating system several times but without success

Well, maybe you should try to boot from a Linux live disc to check if the BSOD appears again?  :|
How about Windows XP installation by using the diskette in MS Windows.
    It s worth a try

Last but not lease, you will need to replace the memory modules RAM and HARD drive
I mean the different HARD disk and RAM tests are useful, but it will not replace tests using new parts
I think that this should be done by a qualified technician because he could test it before buying spare parts

  • Qosmio F10 - the Qosmio player Partition Recovery

I have a Qosmio F10. He had the motherboard factory upgrade, RAM max, and a new 160 GB Samsung HARD drive mounted. So far so good. I've recently updated to Win7 and it was OK, once the drivers have been found, but I couldn't reinstall the Qosmio Player because apparently he found too little space.

Hotline do not have much help, but I now realize that the QP is a Linux package in its own hidden partition. I've cleaned the disc, which makes an image of the system W7 on a USB HDD. Then I managed on the basis of reinstall the QP and update her, but the image will not recover in the form of images of Windows, I find now, will only recover a disk the same as the original or more.

It is not of course because of the score of the PS. So how is it removed please? I tried everything so far.
Just to make things to complete the product Toshiba Recovery DVD sent with the repaired machine is 70% complete and abandoned.

    Stephen

Qosmioplayer is small application based on Linux, and according to the instructions of Toshiba s, must be installed as a first step, before you install the operating system. I m not 100% sure, but about 200 MB of free space on the HARD drive is required for installation of Qosmioplayer.
It works perfectly when you use original Qosmioplayer and recovery disks but I put t know how it will work when you try to use your own image.

I hope that someone else has the same model of laptop and solution for this.
If you will be able to manage this please send a feedback.

  • Qosmio F10 reviews

I am currently deciding whether to buy a Qosmio F10. There seems to be 3 versions available for me the 100 F10, F10 - 124 and the F10-125. The F10-125 seems to be the best?

I am concerned about the TV reception - if I simply plug an antenna on the standard roof at the rear of the Qosmio will I get a pretty decent reception (as I do when I look at the TV)? Also I've obviously not will keep the tv aerial permanently connected, so whenever I want to watch tv, I'm going to have to retune the Qosmio?

What should I do to watch freeview digital tv, that is if I buy a box of TNT can I just plug in the back of the Qosmio that appear all channels?

There seems to be 2 ways to watch TV 1) the MCE Qosmio Player 2). From a previous post, it seems that the remote control only works with the Qosmio player?

In general any opinion with the ease and convenience of watching TV on the Qosmio would be appreciated so I can judge whether it is worth spending me the money to get this facility.

Anyone know where I can buy one on good terms?

    Hello

Sorry, but in my opinion you should take some of the information detailed by local vendor because here you can ask a lot of questions and at the same time check all components and the ports you need to watch TV.

In any case, I'll try to give you my opinion in a few words.

I agree with you that F10 - 125 is the best. This device has everything that the laptop need including Bluetooth. There is no reason to worry about the TV reception because Qosmio has enough video - in ports that you can use every possibility to watch TV.

If you want to use cable TV its antenna in the port and you can watch TV on two tracks. First used Qosmio player without OS boot or using MCE that is built into the OS. MCE using it also records option available.

While watching TV with the help of an external receiver, you can use composite port. To watch TV you can use Qosmio player, but in this case Qosmio player will find a single usable channel and you can choose the programs using the remote control receiver.

My opinion is generally that the F10 is a great machine. Check also the series G and compare it with the F-series.

Before buy you Google around and check prices.

  • Qosmio F10: Forgotten my password Windows XP - how to reset?

    Hi all

I haven't used my Qosmio F10 in addition to four months and the last time that I used it I had to change the password, but now I foolishly do not remember it.

My account is the only account on the laptop, so I am also administrator. Is it possible that I can find out or reset the password?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Cannot delete the administrator account on Windows XP. You need to reinstall new OS to get access to the new created admin account.
Simply start the installation from the Toshiba Recovery CD and the new operating system must be installed in a few minutes.

But note; the new installation format the whole HARD drive so if you have important files on the HARD drive you back up data.

In this case, you could remove the laptop HARD drive and it could connect to another computer via the external USB HDD controller to transfer the files to the second computer HARD drive.

    See you soon

  • Qosmio F10 does not start system missing or damaged

I have a Qosmio F10, and I use all the proper procedures for RECOVERY DVD-ROM PROUDCT.

"I did all the necessary readers updates as well, but when I turn on the laptop came with an error message:" \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
"Windows was not start because the following file is missing or damaged:

So, now my computer with startup options start, but what that you choose the system starts again and again...

What to do? Please, I beg you.

Hmmm usually after using the CD recovery Toshiba, everything should work ok.
I read on some computer expert sites that this problem could be linked to the hardware failure. The HARD drive or the module memory is possibly corrupt.

I would first recommend formatting the entire HARD drive (remove also all partitions).
    Install the operating system again.
If it does not solve this problem you could check if it is possible to install from the original CD of Microsoft XP.
Further, you can see the memory modules. Try to remove one and use only one or replace it with a new one.

But please note that these are just my suggestions and I m not 100% sure if these proposals will allow you to solve problems. In any case it s worth a try

But when I tried to switch the LCD for the TV screen, I could not use my d-video out (SCART nb exit). I could not change display properties TV format because these settings the value NTSC and shadow. You have an idea? How can I solve this problem before the service...
    Thank you

    Hello

The G10 has installed the utility of development of Toshiba and this tool has controlled the TV out put and the PAL, NTSC settings.
Check if it is available on your Qosmio F10 and change the settings if necessary.

Furthermore, it would not be a bad idea to access the BIOS and check if there are any options that can move from a PAL, NTSC

If not someone from Toshiba can confirm the Bios & motherboard WOL support with built in the Lan card F10?

    Hello

On my laptop Toshiba the option allow this device to wake this computer is not accessible.
So I think that the map network-> properties-> Advanced tab options are responsible for this action.
On my camera, I can see awakening on the evolution of the link, ARP/Ping alarm and wake up using APM mode.
There you can activate all options.

In addition, you can check in the settings of ToshibaHW if the built-in LAN boot and network protocol is enabled.

I have some problems with resettlement Qosmio F10.

There is only a cursor flashing at a black screen. The player is not more work. If I understand correctly, the player has been installed on a separate partition that I deleted everything repartition disks. Is this correct? Could someone tell me the initial configuration of the HARD drive.

I don't understand why the system is not booting. If I place the HARD drive on my other laptop it's start and everything is ok. It's a little messy.

    Any suggestions?

Which player? Do you mean Qosmioplayer?

AFAIK qosmioplayer must be installed as a first step prior to installation of the operating system.
To be honest, who knows what's the problem with the installation of Windows XP Home edition. What WXP you try to install the SP1 or SP2?
