  • Qosmio F30 with tuner: can it run MythTV (Linux)?

I am considering buying a F30 as my Personal Video Recorder. I would like to run MythTV on it. If you have a Qosmio with a tuner that you could help me decide by downloading MythTV and try it. You don't have to install anything: just download the iso file, burn it to a CD (you can use http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/ if your software cannot burn ISO files) and the start of it.

You can find the iso at ftp://ftp.knoppmyth.net/R5/R5E50 or mirrors to http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html.

    Hey Buddy,

I Don t have a qosmio, have a Satellite A100, but I can tell you that run´s distribution very good mythTV on my machine, so, everything except the modem has been properly recognized. I use an external tuner and didn t expect any problem with him, works like hell. :)

  • Starting with Ubuntu Remix on Toshiba NB100 problems

Today, I tried to use the Update Manager to install several updates.

    During installation, the device froze.
Now start only takes me to the start page of Ubuntu with the logo and a progress bar is empty.

If I go to the Terminal, I have the following script
    BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3 - 5 Ubuntu12) shell (ash) integrated
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
    (initramfs)

I have no idea how to proceed. Is there a command that I can use for commissioning successfully or do I need to use the recovery CD?

    I'm a newbie to Linux.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that you should just grab the laptop because it's the easiest way to solve this problem starting Ubuntu.
Other workarounds would be too difficult and would take as long as a simple recovery.

Recovery if the NB100. The procedure should t take long.

    Check it out!

    Cheers mate

  • Qosmio F30 - 141 Memory Stick DUO / card reader problem

I have a problem with the Memory Stick Duo Adapter/Memory stick PRO DUO card.
Computer does not recognize volume. Unit Memory Stick appear in the system, but when I click on it in the Solution Explorer, computer say "insert the disk in drive E". I have the original card Memory Stick PRO DUO 2 gb and MS Duo adapter. 30 sec computer try plug this card.

Computer properly operate with the Memory Stick Pro 1 GB card and Memory Stick M2 card 1 Gb with adapter M2.
all this work cards in my Photo and on another computer.
I am trying to connect this card to Sandisk 6 in 1 adapter PCMCIA, but in this case, no one card works.
This device appear in IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers like '___Memory_Card_Adapter_II', but the driver for this device is not installed (KODe 28).

Thanks for the wonderful world of the internet for this info:
F30-141 does not support memory stick pro duo and adapters has not been tested.
I'm afraid that also use adapters of doesn't help.

I bought an external card reader. It s a small device and was very cheap and the best is that this external card reader takes in charge most of the maps ;)

  • Qosmio F30: Is there a way to get the remote to work directly with built in receiver

My remote control Media Center only works when I plug the Receiver USB on my Qosmio F30 yet will work directly to the laptop with the vista media center pre program.

Is there a way to get my remote to work directly on the built-in receiver?

    Steve.

    Hi Steve

There is unfortunately no way to do it. Qosmioplayer is also part of the media offered by this book, and as you know this small Linux based application runs without booting the operating system. Due to this USB port can not be used (external receiver) and because of this one way remote control with Qosmioplayer is infrared receiver window.

I'm not a technician and can explain you why this little infrared window is not used with the operating system running but, I'm sure, there must be a technical reason for it. Anyway, there is nothing to do, and you have to live with it. :(

  • Re: Problem with Qosmio F30-140 VGA card

    Hi all

My Qosmio F30 suddenly developed a green lines/pixels on the screen. The same problem exists even before logining windows.
The card (nvidia go 7600) video under the device manager has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. I tried reinstalling the VGA driver, but nothing has changed.
I think it is a hardware problem (GPU), but I don't know if there is anyway to fix it. Please notify.

It's certainly the hardware problem. What you can do to confirm this is to connect external monitor to your laptop to see if the same thing will happen. If so, the GPU is defective and if not display's troublemaker.

What you can do to solve this problem? Not much. Material exchange is your only solution.

  • Qosmio F30 starts with blue stripes during Vista boot screen

My Qosmio F30-114 runs for years without problem with Vista Ultimate.

In recent days, there is a huge problem.

The Qosmio starts with blue stripes during vista boot screen.

So I deleted the driver for the graphics card and used the standard vga driver for the card. the wizard of material found one driver on the system.
For a brief moment, I was very lucky.

After a reboot, there was a blue screen. After the next restard again once the driver to the standard vga card.

    What can I do?

The download section of toshiba has no drivers for graphics card.
And really... I wonder - how it works every year without problems...

Someone at - it a solution?

    thanx

    toshibalover ;-)

    Hello!

First you have this problem on an external monitor too or only on the screen internal? Maybe it s is not a graphics card problem so check it with an external monitor.

I checked the Web from Toshiba site and I can find drivers for the Qosmio F30:

  • Upgrade of Qosmio F30/695LS (the slot with a weird module hard problem)

So I try to upgrade my laptop, its starting to show his age in this world or the very rapid evolution out. I want to add two 1 GB RAM cards. I read somewhere that 2 GB is memory max does anyone know if it is in terms of upgrade only or including 512 who comes standard? The cards must also be 200 pin DDR2 SO-DIMM, but I don't know how fast that is capable of confronting the laptop, I can put 800 MHz in there? Now, I had read that the manual except that it's like the laptop in Japanese! I'm also trying to add a second hard drive, there is a second location, but... There's something seriously weird sitting in there! Here are some pictures to help identify it:

For me, it seems to be a kind of a dummy module, but like I said I don't know noty - whatever it is, it causes a lot of problems - it can not be removed from the underside of the laptop, which means I have to open all and pull it out of the bottom of the keyboard (if that is even possible?) and I don't want to not pull something important on accidentally! Thus, any information would be very useful!

    Hello
If you want to upgrade the RAM for Qosmio F30, then you can use SO DIMM DDR2 533 Mhz PC2-4200

MODULES MUST BE ORDER AND INSTALLED in PAIRS for Dual Channel mode.

so, you can order the 2 GB kit (2 x 1 GB).

You must remove the old module 512 of your laptop, you can also see the speed written.

and on the strange object sitting in the slot of the HARD drive, I think it's a kind of wireless or Bluetooth card because there is an aerial cable attached to it, you can try to unplug the card and turn on your laptop and see if there are wireless devices or Bluetooth removed from the system.

also try to find what is written inside this card, a reference number or Description and post it to us.

This laptop sold in Japan only and that the specification is different from that which is sold in europe.

    Kind regards

  • Qosmio F30: Can not connect to internet with WiFi safely

I recently purchaced a Toshiba Qosmio F30 laptop and have spent the better part of two days trying to connect to wireless internet. After constantly call Wanadoo (my provider) and accusing them for all this, I thought that the laptop itself is at fault.

What happens is when I try to enter my network key (WEP), default is a different key that I can't see that it's all in the points! This continues to be and im am totally unable to enter my network key. Until it is I turn off security on my livebox thingy and connect unsecurely and as I live in close proximity apartments, other people can and probably will connect to my internet, and I am also told that makes me more at risk of viruses and other.

I apologize for my lack of technical jargon, and that I can not give a more descriptive... uh... description, but I'm just a beginner and not the most in computer science.

Any help would be appreciated more!... Why is nothing simpler!

    Hi Luke,.
Have you tried WAP (shared key) instead of WEP.
In this way, you will need to make your own key instead of having the it generated by the router.
    It is also safer.

To do this, you must enter the settings of your router (usually http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1), enter the password provided by Wanadoo, then click Security. Change the setting WEP WAP (or shared key) and enter a 10digit password then you will need to enter it again when your computer tries to connect to the router again.

It is best to use a wired connection to change settings, then disconnect the cable and wireless.
If you notice that you are connected wireless to the router, and your internet connection is dead, temporarily disable the LAN (reactivate when you are satisfied with your connection works). This would happen if your computer includes your wireless network connection to other computers and the wired connection like you internet connection (even if there is no wire connected).

It is also important to change the administrator name and password to access your router (this would prevent your neighbors children playing to change your settings).
Let me know if you have more problems.

  • Qosmio F30-140: No Tuner TV with Windows XP Professional

    Hello

I have a Qosmio F30-140 unpacking for computer laptop, I bought a Windows Xp professional, but unfortunately I can't see a TV Tuner and I do not know how to handle this problem? And the second thing I have a problem with Qosmio player too.
It's everyone knows how to handle this?

Certainly, the Qosmio G30-140 supports a DVB-T/hybrid TV tuner.
What do you mean you can't see the Tv tuner?
Have you installed all necessary drivers?

And what are the problems with Qosmio player?

    The laptop came with MCE.
Install the OS from recovery CD and connect the cable to antenna on the Qosmio and search for channels to MCE!

  • Re: Qosmio F30-131: remote control does not not with Vista Ultimate

    Hello!

I just installed Vista Ultimate but my remote does not work.
I reinstalled everything in the right order as written in the command file install on Toshiba Homepage but its always answers don't not under Vista.
I can just turn on my laptop when its off the remote control.

    Anyone know what to do?

(PS: I do not have my Toshiba restore CD for Windows XP MCE)

    Hello

You reinstall the remote control manager? This utility enhances support for a remote control on your computer.
How about Value Added package? There is a new version available. Try to update it too.

But back to the basics, the Qosmio F30-131 belongs to the series of PQF30E. Did you choose the drivers for this series?

However, this laptop has been delivered and pre-installed with Win MCE. Can this remote works only with the XP version of Windows Media Center.
