Qosmio F50-114 - to upgrade the disk HARD & 8 GB RAM

Good day everyone,

My computer has only 1 320 GB HARD drive.
Can I added another an or I have to replace it with a new one? and what HARD drive I can use?

I also want to update the 8 GB RAM: How can I do?
Toshiba F50-114.

See you soon

To be honest I don t understand why you need these big HDD and 8 GB of RAM but I will try to provide you with details what's possible and what upgrade is not possible.

As you say the F50-114 was equipped with 320 GB HARD drive. In my view, a larger HARD drive is possible, but first you have to find a larger HARD SATA 2.5 drive.
I googled a bit, but the hardest are rare at the moment.

Regarding the upgrade of RAM;
As far as I know this laptop supports the Chipset Mobile Intel PM45 Express.
According to the Intel 4 sheet series Mobile Intel PM45 Express Chipset 8 GB are possible, but it's maximum!

Check that this leaves Chapter 1.1:

I use the 32-bit system and 4 GB of RAM expandable up to 8 GB.

    Hello

As much as I know that this will not affect the material, but I read in some discussions that the Ultimate version is not fully compatible, or could not be fully compatible with some tools from Toshiba as added Vista package.

I m not very well if it could be a deal on your Qosmio F50-114, but everything is possible.

  • Qosmio F50-114 - how to use the video cable?

    Hello
    I have a Qosmio F50-114.
I want to capture video via the video cable supplied with the computer.

The computer came with a video component cable software plug-in (1 x 3, 5mm - 3xRCA white/red/yellow). The only place in the manual stating that cable is the only a-in-the-box-section.

On my old Qosmio F20, I had a specific connector for the video cable component software plug-in. There is no specific 3, 5mm connector so I suspect that I have to join one of the IR ports, or one of the audio-connectors (?).

    Looking forward to a response.
    / Daniel

    Hey,.

Don t get me wrong, but I'm 99.9% sure that there is no video port on Qosmio F50. As far as I know that these books are not available, they have a video output only, port but not port of entry to capture video.
So you mixed up something I think

What you may be hearing is integrated TV Tuner, but on this port you can only record videos from DVB - T signal.

  • Qosmio F50-114 - why 32 Bit OS came preinstalled

Toshiba cheated me or my dealer don't?

When I buy my Qosmio F50 - 114, the specification says it boasts a 64-bit support but the system now 32-Bit
Does that mean I can go to 64 bit or is it finished?

If so what I have to do?

    Thanks much for all support.

    Hey Buddy

Of course the Qosmio F50-114 supports Vista 64-bit.
    I think you're a bit confused

It was equipped with the Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor that supports the 64-bit feature and also the drivers 64 bit Toshiba Vita will be released in the near future.

This is why 64-bit is certainly supported. But that doesn't mean that this laptop or other portable which supports the 64 bit of Vista are preinstalled with this OS.

As much as I know about all the series the 32 bit OS has been pre-installed, but of course, you can install your own Vista 64 bit OS (not upgrade but new installation)!

  • JBOD Qosmio G20 - could not initialize the disk of 320 GB - 1RAID-0

    Hello, comrades Toshiba users,
at first, I apologize if this question has already been answered, but I did not find the answer to my problem.

One of my colleagues has a Toshiba Qosmio G20 with two 80 GB drives. Big 17-inch "surf-board-sized" computers laptops are not my cup of tea, but the Qosmio him quite well served.
We tried to upgrade the two hard drives of aging in his laptop. With considerable experience in replacing the readers of the laptop, I didn't expect no particular surprise, but I was wrong.

We tried to replace the original disks
Bay 1: 80 GB Fujitsu drive, System
2: 80 GB Fujitsu drive, data, RAID off the coast of the Bay

    with the new
Bay 1: 320 GB WD Scorpio
WD Scorpio 2: 320 GB drive Bay.

The BIOS of the G20 is v1.30, the latest version. It recognizes new readers-, but one of the new marking as 1RAID-0 disks fails. After trying to "initialize" the 320 GB drive in bay 1 as 1RAID-0, on the third page of the G20 of BIOS, there is a disk activity, but the drive remains in JBOD mode.

Unable to mark the drive of 320 GB 1RAID-0, I am unable to use the 320 GB drive as a system disk.

If the original system drive is cloned on a new 320 GB drive, that it does not start. Starting XP * begins * but subsequently fails with STOP 0x7B - in other words, the infamous blue screen INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE when the Toshiba RAID driver is loaded during Windows startup.
Plain vanilla CD, of course with slipstreamed windows installation driver Toshiba, impossible rest. Installing Windows don't "see" drive in Bay 2.

When the drive system is put in the high Bay and G20 is started from it, Windows XP starts correctly. The drive in Bay 1 is accessable from Windows, however, remains offline in the RAID from Toshiba console. If the start player in Bay 2 is not an option, too.

A similar problem, where the owner could not install a system of 200 GB drive is described here
    Link: http://tinyurl.com/38wokw
The owner, however managed to install a 100 GB drive and we have resorted to 80 GB of disk as a system disk and the only player upgrade in Bay 2 to 320 GB.

I understand what happens when the disk is 'initialized' in the BIOS. Only brands of BIOS of Toshiba disk 1RAID-0, and it breaks down on 320 GB drive. I will refrain from expressing my opinion on this practice.

My question is - if it is possible, how * manually * mark the drive of 320 GB 1RAID-0?
Using a hex editor, dd or something similar is no problem. A partial answer would also know the disc more large size which * can * be marked with success under the name of 1RAID-0 at BIOS G20.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure, what could be wrong by presumably 320 HARD drive size might be too big!
How about the 100 GB or 120 GB hard drives?

I think you should consider it because usually most of the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and therefore not all sizes are supported.

But note; using the configuration of 1RAID-0 (striping), met by the operating system size is twice more only if the smaller of the two HARD drives in RAID configuration. Using RAID-0, all data on both disks will be lost, even if it is training of two disks fails.

  • Qosmio F50 - how to adjust the video output?

    I have a F50 - 12W.

On the side, there are 2 mini-jack ports. One is for headphones and a microphone. But the helmet also has a small logo of a symbol of a/v output.
In the box when I got the laptop, came a plug to phono cable and video. I assume it's for video output. But can find no mention in the manual, or by a google search.
How ever many I have set the output settings screen, I can't work.

Can anyone help to shed light on this topic, thanks.

    Hello

How do you connect the Qosmio F50 to your external monitor? I have too many Qosmio F50 and I use the HDMI port to connect it to my external monitor or TV.

And what exactly do you mean you can't get it to work. You can see a picture on this subject?
Also, here's an interesting document from Toshiba on this subject: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ7C021A0000R01.htm

  • I would like to replace my drive 160gig hard with the disk hard 320gig on my laptop running xp.

I would like to replace my drive 160gig hard with the disk hard 320gig on my laptop running xp. Is it possible to transfer the exact content from one disk to another without having to re - install operating systems and programs etc. ?  I would that all is the same except the size of your hard drive will be increased.

Is it possible to transfer the exact content from one disk to another without having to re - install operating systems and programs etc. ?

    Yes.

You use the disk cloning software.  In some cases, a new player may even be bundled with software that will do this for you.

Unless your laptop has a second drive Bay (most don't), you will also need an external hard drive enclosure.  As a general rule, these connect via the USB port, although if your laptop has a connector FireWire or eSATA you can also use these interfaces.

You must select your external enclosure based on 3 criteria: the type of connection to the laptop. the physical size of the disc (2 1/2 inches for computer laptop drives); and player interface (determined by the connection of the internal drive of your laptop). For example only (no recommendation), if you wanted an enclosure for a 2.5 IDE drive "which connects using USB 2.0, Newegg has 17 products

The (slightly) more expensive items among the software, you will need.  For example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817155602 this particular House will work with SATA or IDE drives.

If you buy an external enclosure that doesn't include cloning software, the software may be available for free from the manufacturer of the new 320 GB drive (e.g., http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get it separately (this is not an exhaustive list):

I'm sorry, but you will need a Windows 9 x / ME drive to provide during the XP installation from the XP disc is a version upgrade. There is no way around that. See if you can find a friend with an older operating system disk (not a recovery disk) to support qualification. Otherwise, you would need to buy the full version (not upgrade) of XP to install on the computer. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I upgraded the RAM to 4 GB, and many people say that it is not.
What about the upgrade of the primary HARD disk?

And what happened to place an extra HARD drive to the second HDD slot. I think that he should not void the warranty? What is - it actually?

I have good news for you my friend:
If you upgrade the RAM or HARD drive you will not lose the warranty of your laptop.

The two components can evolve without losing the guarantee of the user. :)

Of more if you add a second HARD drive will be not too lost the warranty. But don t forget in the second drive Bay HARD must be a second HARD drive connector. Otherwise, you can install a second HDD of the t.

Sorry for the loss. Where are you located (country)? You have a way to install Windows Vista? Perhaps you created for laptop HP recovery disks? Yes, if you can get a copy of Vista OEM Windows of the same type as your License Code you can reinstall with this Code, but Vista media becomes hard to find.

You can install any 2.5 inch wide and 9.5 mm thickness mobile SATA hard drive in. We can help you find a good model 500 concert at a fair price when we know the place that is to be shipped.

    Hello

No, you can download the latest version of common for Vista modules because the Toshiba has not released drivers Vista for the Qosmio G20

This error message is displayed on your laptop, because the common modules only work with XP!
If you want to upgrade XP to Vista you must first remove all incompatible applications.

  • Qosmio F50 - need to update the BIOS in the order of installation Win7 64-bit

    Dear community,

    I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit. My laptop is Toshiba Qosmio F50 - 10 M with a VISTA32bit preinstalled.

Is it necessary to update the prior consent of BIOS install the new OS? I read that there is a BIOS update Fa? ¼r VISTA64bit available, but none that I discovered for Win7 64 bit.

    Can give you a hint?

I am confident and happy to own a laptop as powerful but this not filled OS named VISTA makes me nuts more in addition to reading all these great reports about the benefits of Windows7!

Looking forward to read your welcome responses

    Hello

Is there a BIOS for Vista 32 bit and 64 bit.
There is no special Win 7 BIOS.

If you want to install Win 7 64 bit, I advise to use the BIOS for Vista 64-bit. If you want to install Win 7 32 bit-> choose vista 32-bit BIOS.

Generally, it should be possible to upgrade the BIOS under Win 7 so, but because that it s a BIOS for the Vista operating system, I recommend upgrading the BIOS in Vista.

  • Amount of disk space available on the disk hard keeps fluctuating.

I have a Compaq CQ2103WM-B desktop running Windows XP, hard disk Go 139.  I started to receive notices of high memory use, began to receive notices of disk space is low. I ran the cleaning disc several times, it has been very slow, constantly showing only 2 bars, sometimes for hours. He finally released the space and I have deleted several programs and files, emptied the trash. After a few minutes the amount of free space started going down again. For several days, I kept repeating this process, but keep decreases the amount of free space on the disk. Now, it fluctuates to the amount of free space on the disk every few minutes. I downloaded and ran CCleaner, it frees up space and again it has disappeared in a few minutes. He got so low that I can't watch videos, use system restore, download other software or software upgrades (like Norton), cannot download pictures from my camera or save files in programs such as Corel Draw. Right now is 3.97 MB free space, he went down in the KBs, sometimes it goes up, but it changes even if I do nothing. I scanned for viruses and malware, Norton managed to reach space, but it lasted only a few minutes. I don't know anything else to try. Would it be a software problem, the malware that Norton cannot detect, the hardware, or if my system has been hacked and someone uses free space on my computer? Any information would be appreciated.

In disk clean up, look for the button "other options" above I think it is, go to the

the bottom of the next page, look for "System Restore" cleaning, this eliminates all but the last

restore, and then mount the disk clean up. In addition, with a 139 GB hd, you must also have video/music

files on the C: drive, perhaps to burn them on a cd. In addition, in my c: drive-count, R.click, open,

Do scroll through folders & see what take place, install a slave drive can be

you are the answer. With this, you can move all data from the user to the slave instead of having

    C: drive handle it all.
