Qosmio G10-100 - optical drive replacement and IDE01

I just replaced my optical DVD drive on my Toshiba Qosmio G10-100 with a product number Optiarc AD7543A drive but I get an IDE01 error message at first upward.

Initially, the optical DVD drive worked later Toshiba does not recognize the drive. All solutions?

The solution is the use of optical discs compatible. Error IDE is the best proof, you try to use non compatible drive. Compatible dimensions appear in the manuals of the user to page 10-14 s.

Good bye

Following a failure in a Qosmio G10-100 HARD drive, I replaced the HD 80 GB IDE current with a 160 GB IDE drive. After execution of the recovery of the DVD, new HARD drive has been formatted and installed the software (later proved by removing the drive and treat as an exterrnal disk on another PC).

However, on booting, the machine has recognized that it was another hard drive and it wouldn't let me go beyond the screen that offers alternatives (Safe Mode, etc.), nor what would allow me access.

Sorry mate but I put t understand what you did exactly
You have installed the Windows operating system on the new HARD drive by using the recovery disk. Right?
Well, the recovery procedure has completed correctly? The operating system has been successfully installed?

Did repeat the installation of the OS?

    Hello

    You should check for drivers

For Canadians or something like this:

    Hello

Toshiba Qosmio G10 was delivered only with OS Win XP and not Vista.
According to the official document of Toshiba drivers Vista for G10 series don t exist and which will not.
I think that you should check the Web site of the (device) chip manufacturing to a compatible driver or test driver Vista released for an another series i.e Qosmio G30

  • Qosmio G10: Question about motherboard replacement

I bought the G10 around 2 years there are in the United Kingdom and who now live in New Zealand.

I would say it has been a faithful companion, but looking back it cost much to get anything done, because of the ridiculous prices of the FSA.

I experienced a power supply, two hard drives, my touch pad no longer works and now the GPU (graphics card) is dead.

I'm sure that most of the people on this forum knows, that is, replacing the motherboard because it is on board.

I am out of warranty and replacement cost is more than a qosmio second hand of the same age.

Having done a lot of research on the internet about it.
I found out that Toshiba US will free of charge replace the motherboard. I asked Toshiba AUS/NZ and they refused him, that it was not a problem.

Toshiba UK/Europe does, or is it just the Toshiba US that cares about its customers?

    Hello

It's very sad to hear that! :(
I want to share my knowledge on the Toshiba us and Europe.
As I know the Toshiba us has nothing to do with Toshiba Europe or Australia/New Zealand.
Portable computers designed for the American market are simply different and also supports different parts and numbers; for example the Qosmio G10 or G20 are not available in the United States but only the Qosmio G15 or G25, etc.

If you have problems with your hardware, you must contact the partner service manager authorized in your country for further assistance.

    Regarding your question.
Yes, it really looks like a malfunction of the GPU (graphic processor unit). This graphics chip is fixed on the plateau and in the majority of cases, the whole Board needs to be replaced!
As you know, these hardware problems could still happen because the new age books are of the high-end products that work always with high performance.
    That s nothing unusual.

I bought a year ago from G20 and I bought an extended warranty on avoid such troubles.
So, I always recommend buying the extended warranty in the future.

    Good luck and best regards

  • Qosmio G10-100: no powerup faulty motherboard

    Hello

I am trying to remotely diagnose power with my Qosmio F20 girls (she died at the University).

When she lit yesterday at best she got was the blue power button display and variations of:
Display completely black - nothing more
Qosmio screen logo with lines on the screen flicker, followed to a black screen
Qosmio screen logo glitter with lines on the screen, followed a black screen with blinking cursor.

Insertion of recovery dvd and starting by f12 key only gave blue button and black screen.

ESC more power to high gives flickering Qosmio logo, followed by 0000 and blinking cursor on the black screen.

Some other messages suggest that a new motherboard is necessary.

    Any suggestions?
What price to provide and install a motherboard?
This seems to be a common fault - is this common?

    Thanks Colin

    Hello

The fact that the laptop is a G10-100 and not F20 doesn t change the situation. As Lorelei said if the laptop can not pass by Toshiba or Qosmio screen so there must be a hardware failure. This looks like a malfunction of the motherboard. But to solve it, you should ask for help ASP.

  • Satellite 1900-303: the optical drive replacement

    Hello

Are there opportunities to replace the optical drive of this model? With or without a screwdriver? I want to replace the drive combo of origin (without work) by the other Toshiba combo drive. Can I replace the optical drive or only the Toshiba official centres can do this operation (simply)?

    Thank you very much

    André - Portugal

    Hi Andre,

Change your optical drive is pretty easy (with a screwdriver). your player is usually set with one or more screws and once these are removed the reader can be slipped out of position.

You can then remove the plastic trim of the components of the original drive and install them on your new drive (unless a new one is delivered complete with all the accessories). You will also need to remove the metal from your old drive brackets since they will have to be placed on your new drive.

Insert the new drive in your laptop computer and fix it with the screws that you removed in the original.

When you start your laptop should automatically detect the new drive. Note that the boot process may be slower than normal because the system will get the proper drivers etc for your reader doesn't and will update your configuration with the new information files.

The important thing is to get a new optical drive with the same dimensions as the original.

For CD/DVD, just put in the ODD (optical Dirve) and you can view them in Windows Explorer. Just double click on a file, it should appear on the default screen. Please report if you have any further questions.

  • Qosmio G10 - 133 Question on replacement DVD COMBO drive

    Hello

my laptop has a DVD driver UJ - 830B labled but the device Manager reports that it is a UJ-830. I posted before saying that I was not able to burn DVDs. He gets partially then error saying unable to burn. I used different software and drives done but all to no avail.

I bought an external burner that burns without problems, but it defeat the object one integrated into the lapotop!

Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement disk? I already tried a unit of NEC 5540 a disc, but my laptop does not recognize that it has been installed. I guess it's something to do with master/slave? If the laptop does not recognize the drive, I am obviously unable to Flash any firmware.

    Someone please help...

    Hello

Seems that you have already noticed that the disc replacement is not so easy.
The portable internal conduit don t support no rider like external drives for desktop PC as well as the settings are fixed and to my knowledge no editable
I found a few compatible disk numbers, but unfortunately, I have not found the names of readers.
It seems that these are the internal reference numbers.

    DVD Super Multi Drive
    -MATSU * A UJ830 (G8CC00021610)
    -MATSU * A (G8CC0001S610)
Drive DVD Super Multi (Double layer support)
    -MATSU * A (G8CC00021611)
    -TEAC (G8CC00024611)

However, the service partner may provide you with a compatible drive information.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - DVD optical drive replacement

I'm looking for some advice, thanks, regards access to disc DVD/CD on my Pro L20.

My current car has passed away, but I was hoping (temporarily) replace it with my old car Saturday 1130.
Before even I can check to see if compatible, I have a problem in removing the existing carpet * a unit... UJ841S there are 2 screws likely below, but I think I'll also remove first the keyboard.

I'm embarrassed about the lifting of the (?) metal strip that runs along the top of the keyboard... of clues on how to do it?

And am I correct in having to delete the "Board of Directors?
    Thanks in advance...

Yes, you will need to remove the keyboard, because under the keyboard, you will find a screw that holds the CD/DVD drive.
First, then remove the thin plastic above the F1 - F12 buttons and remove the 2 screws securing the keyboard.

Then you could lift the keyboard carefully (don't forget the keyboard cable flat that connect the keyboard to the motherboard)
Then remove the two screws holding the optical disk drive.

Then turn the computer, remove the two screws (at the bottom of the unit) fixing the ODD.
Then pull on the STRANGE carefully.

This description should help you to remove the disc.

But if you don t have enough experience; Don t this and ask the technician for help!

  • Qosmio F60-111 - HARD drive replacement

I have a F60-111 and he had a problem bad hard drive several months ago, he was not even a year and was already late and crashing all the time. I have 3 years international warranty for it, so I sent the laptop in Saudi Arabia and the hard drive was replaced in January, I got just now, but I am disappointed. The laptop works, of course, but the replacement hard drive was only 100 GB, which is a big downgrade of its original capacity of 600 GB.

My problem is my laptop has been repaired, but it was replaced by a lower capacity hard drive. I feel blurry, am I entitled to compensation? Thank you.

    Hello

That s is truly amazing. Please don t wait so long and communicate with this service as soon as possible. Explain the situation and ask their explanation. Something like that should not happen, and the defective HARD drive must be exchanged with the same.

If they do not cooperate you should comment a threat by directly contacting Toshiba.

What do you think of this?
