Qosmio G20 - 102 Shutting down unexpectedly

Hello
I've known a lot of problems with my computer laptop qosmio, this all started in the summer 2004, since then ive sent several times to the dealer of Toshiba to Malta, taho. And they said it worked perfectly well when they tested. Quite strange, indeed.
I remembered about it since his stupid enough to let a such good laptop to lose a few days ago.
So now, on the issue.
A small prgram called thotkey.exe appears in my taskbar, even if no real window opens. And after that, I have about 2 seconds before my screen blanks out and stops the pc.
I thought to sell the laptop several times, but no one wants to buy it because of its problems.

And what happens if you use a supplied recovery media and install new OS (factory settings)? This is the problem?

    Hi ismael,.
I'll try to help with that, but it's a long way to the road...
I don't know what Tv system is used to Malta (Pal)?

The best way to set up your TV's with Media Center 2005 edition.
    Cables:
Check the back of your cable TV installation box and find the composite or SVHS output. If you have only the composite, you can use the composite cable of the posted image. If your TV decoder has the SVHS, so you should use, to the better image than composite. You must obtain a SVHS cable for this.
Look for the audio output rca, too. Mix with the composite cable for the audio Qosmio.

    But you must have:
1 control cable IR, for media center 2005 configuration as well as your TV decoder. It is cable connected to the remote sensor (see fact sheet on the back).

2 sensor for your remote control and configure it with the remote control of your TV decoder. In this way, you can control the receiver cable channels, using the remote control for your Qosmio G20 media center edition.
Recovery: you can change the channels on your TV decoder using the qosmio remote control.

    3. remote control for you media Center 2005, one that came with your Qosmio g20.

Open the TV on Media Center 2005 configuration and follow all the steps required for installation.
You must follow the guide, as is explained in the image you posted:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/using/Setup/SetTop.mspx

If you have all these cables, you can use the Qosmio player to watch TV. It is not tied to windows OS.
Here, simply connect the coaxial cable and let the Qosmio player search for available channels in your area. Qosmio player has the opportunity to set the colour TV system in any part of the world. all NTSC regions in all PAL regions.
If you have the remote control for your Qosmio, TV keys will work directly with the Qosmio remote sensor on board, without needing the external sensor of Microsoft.

    I hope this helps you

Please help me and thank you.

    Hello

It seems that the Qosmio G20 102 belongs to the series of PQG20E.
Research on the European driver Toshiba page I found the RAID for Windows XP MCE driver v1.03.0008 (can also be used with XP Pro).

You will need an external USB FDD to include this driver in the operating system.
But note; After installing the RAID driver you shouldn't t format the HARD disk or create a new partition, because that will remove the RAID driver from the HARD disk and installing the OS fails!

I hope I could help you would also appreciate a feedback ;)

  • My guard computer shut down unexpectedly when I play games.

My guard computer shut down unexpectedly when I play games. Now it is not always the case, just sometimes. The other day I was playing Sims 3 all day, literally, with the graphics settings maxed out and had no problem. The next day, he would crash as soon as it finished loading, even with the graphics settings at the bottom. Today, it was working fine this morning and now it crashes again. I had the same problem on and off with other games as well, Halo 2, Kings Bounty, UT 3. Here is my system:

OS - Vista Ultimate 32 bit
    Processor: Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 2 .66GHz
    RAM - 4 x 1 GB PC6400 DDR2/800
    MB - MSI P7N SLI - FI
    HARD drive - 150 GB x 2 (Raid 0) Raptor 10 k RPM
    PSU - 1000 watts
    GPU - NVidia GeForce 9800GT 1 GB (x 2 in SLI)

And the error I get from Event Viewer:

Filter event with the query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA 'Win32_Processor' AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace '//./root/CIMV2' because of error 0 x 80041003.» Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is resolved.

I got the error almost everyday since I got the computer, about 10 months ago, but it only blocks the computer if I play a game. I tried the 'fix' that removes the WMI event viewer 10 error, but everything done was make sure the error is not logged. I also tried another fix I found me delete the files in the repository, but that no longer works. I also run scans of complete system of virus/malware Spybot Search & Destroy and AVG 8 and verified the updated driver for my hardware. I also ran diagnostic tool memory. Who has good/clean/current. Can it be fixed or what I have to reinstall the OS?

    Hi JerHekSr,

Thank you for using answers Forum.

The first thing that comes to mind would be to check the motherboard manufacturer for an update of the firmware/BIOS.

The error message mentions "loadpercentage > 99' which looks like you are running may at maximum load of the CPU while the game and that is the cause of the crash. You could try a clean boot to prevent the using CPU resources while you play to see if it makes a difference of strtup programs.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows Vista by performing a clean boot. This article also describes how to start the Windows Installer service and how to reset the computer so that it starts as usual.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    a. log in the computer using an account with administrator rights.

    b. click Start collapse this image enlarge this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

The collapse of this image to this image if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue .

    c. under the general tab, click Selective startup , and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    d. on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services check box and then click on disable all .

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    e. click OK , and then click restart .

Step 2: Enable half the services

    a. follow steps 1a and 1B to start the System Configuration utility.

    b. click on the Services tab and then click to select the hide all Microsoft services check box.

    c. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    d. click OK and then click restart .

Step 3: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one service is selected in the list of services , and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to step 6. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

Step 4: Enable half of the startup items

    a. perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

    b. click on the Startup tab and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

    c. click OK , and then click restart .

Step 5: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to step 6.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat step 1 and step 2 without selecting the hide all Microsoft services check box in each step.

    Step 6: Resolve the problem

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Step 7: Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click on start to reduce this image enlarge this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

The collapse of this image to this image if you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue .

On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK .

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart .

    Hello

Could be heat related - try using a small fan to blow into the air intakes to see if that helps.
It is just like it loses power or stop it in the normal way? Keep in mind
This associated heat does not always mean too much heat as it is often a part or a component
who is too sensitive to normal levels even heat.

Remove ALL power and reinstall all the memory cards and cables (both ends where possible).
in fact, remove and replace - don't do not just tight. Remove the dust bunnies and clean the

  • Satellite P10 shuts down unexpectedly after only 4/5 minutes to be turned on

Hey, I have a problem with my Satellite P10 2.5 years.
The problem is it turns off unexpectedly after 4/5 minutes being powered on.

After he fires it on again for about 7 to 10 HOURS, even with the power drive inside displays the 4 lights on the front, but it will not even power the start-up routine.

I tried different combinations of power/battery and I still get the same problem.
I'm sure that it is overheating and then take hours to enhance down.

Your opinion on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance...

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Certainly, it sounds like an overheating issue from your description, although I expect to recover much faster than 7 to 10 hours. You can try the technique of aspiration of dust on the grids of aspiration air to see if it improves the situation. Also check that the fans are working properly and that there is sufficient space around the appliance when it is in use.

    Kind regards

  • Qosmio G20 sometimes closes down when clocked at 100%

My G20 for apparently no reason to occasionally stops by itself which may be due to not having fans is not enough air, but I fear that when I run some programs the processor works 100% and this causes finally the computer overheats and stops. I run Registry and patrol when I run a scan it immediately shoots up to 100%.

Is this a problem with my CPU?

Furthermore why did the defragmentation with XP media do not completely defrag and chunks of fragmented data sheets?

Any help on this is much appreciated.

    Hello

Have you checked the processes that are running in the context of the operating system?
If this isn't the case, then do it! In the Task Manager, you can see the process and which applications have pointed out the CPU.
But it s not unusual that the CPU will run with maximum performance when certain applications and programs have been launched.
However, I think as a new OS installed could stress CPU

In addition, you can check the Toshiba saving settings and set the CPU, the speed of processing and method at different levels of cooling.

Also check the fans and cooling modules and if necessary try to clean with the vacuum cleaner.

I found an interesting paper on the problems of defragmentation:

  • Computer shuts down unexpectedly and does not start

I have a gateway NV52 running windows vista Home premium 64-bit.
It is about four years old.

Lately, I'll work on something, and the computer turns off without any warning. If not off, but just completely turn off as if it was a desktop computer and someone he disconnected.

The last time he does, when I tried to put it back to it gave me a blue screen. Time thereafter, it gave me an error message saying 'Windows failed to load correctly' and gave me the ability to "repair windows" or "start windows normally". When you select the option the computer immediately turns off again.

After about three hours, I tried to start again and got the same error screen. I chose "repair windows" once again, and launched a sort of auto repair program. After some time, he said it was over and I have to restart my computer. I rebooted and was able to boot up properly.

I'm not sure that the problem has been corrected, because other than the unexpected interruptions, there was no sign of distress beforehand. My computer was working normally, and there is no virus/malware/etc.

    Hello Colin P.

Generally, a system shutdown complete is the result of a hardware such as feeding problems, overheating or other material failed the system. Just to check that it is malicious not associated, run a complete virus scan on the system. If the system continues to stop, then I suggest you call the manufacture of equipment and ask them to help you run hardware diagnostics.
