Qosmio G20-118: Questions about playback of movies, TV, bluetooth

Hello.
people I m not very good with computers and need your help.
my mother gave me a qosmio g20-118 and I have some problems with it (never liked laptops that much, but this one is beautiful ;):)

1st - when watching dvd movies, I observe that when it comes to an image of the sky or clouds, I see dots on the screen. This happens also with you guys? could this be a problem in high definition? Even on the film "nilo" which comes connected to media player... when it comes to an image of an egypsian walk to the horizon on the stones... If you look at the blue sky, the definition is not so good... Why is this?
Despite this problem watching movies top it s super...
all what I can change to make it better?

2nd - I ve tried to watch TV and I can´t. I m Portuguese and have cable TV. from what I ve read the only thing I have to do is conect the cable antenna to the computer with the adapter tv right? It is a message that the signal is weak. can someone help me here?
and how do I adjust a channel? I Don t see where I can grant automatly or manually!
(maybe a Portuguese user can help me if West one here)

3. how to use the bluetooth? my cell phone has bluetooth and when I turn on the bluetooth of the phone and activate the bluetooth of the qosmio one of them recognizes anything. I click on "bluetooth settings" and 'new Connection', and I got a message saying bluetooth is not ready. What should I do?

If someone could help me that would be great. Sorry for the big testemonial; 9
Susana

Hello

First of all, you are right. This very nice laptop s. I wish I would have a.
Good on your problems:

1.), you should try to change the display resolution. It would be very interesting to know if the black dots remains on the screen. In addition, I put t think that it s a pixel dead issue because you don t have problems if watch you movies.

2.) have you used a Qosmio Player or a MCE? You should try to start the Qosmio player and try to launch a new search for TV channels. In the manual, you will find a detailed description of a connection and the use of the Q drive

3.) have you activated the Bluetooth with FN + F8 key combination?
Please check this post how to use a Bluetooth device:

  • Qosmio G20-118: System start slowly - restore?

    Hi guys,.

    1 day to another, start windows on my G20-118 has become slower. Windows starts as usual, but all programs related to communication take 2 minutes to start until I can connect to the internet. If I open IE in the meantime it is not yet available for dial-up dialog box until the rest is responsible. Clues?

    I thought about restoring the system but would like to avoid it if possible. If I restore it, however, it will clean completely the two hard disks or can I save files in one of them?

    Thanks for your help.
    Pedro

    Hello

    There are many reasons why the operating system becomes slow.
    Sometimes if many background process runs on the entire operating system then BONES need a bit more to run applications.
    Also a virus or antivirus programs that are running on the operating system could cause such slow performance.
    But as you said earlier that the new installation of the OS could solve these problems.
    If you have 2 partitions on the HARD disk, so all that you back up important files on the second partition, and only the first partition is removed during the installation of the new operating system.
    On the recovery CD, you will find 2 options for recovery.
    Standard and expert mode.

    In expert mode, you can choose the partition where the OS is to be installed.
    Use the 'advanced search' to search for topics on the expert mode recovery procedure

  • Qosmio G20-118: Multi drive is not burning DVDs

    Hi guys,.

    This day I have never been able to burn a DVD with music files from itunes (in the form of data) using my G20-118, although I have no problem what to do in my old office. I have tried several different DVDs without success. Everything seems to go smoothly until the last dry when there is an error. I had the same problem that burn DVDs with Sonic. Finally, my drive rarely reads CD of music stored on other computers. It also came with data CD, although rarely.

    Do I have a defective disk? This CD/DVD that you tried and must work on my system?

    Thank you very much!
    Pedro

    Hello

    I don't think it's a compatibility issue with the disks because the player accepts and then displays an error.

    For me, this looks like a bad drive, but perhaps you must first reinstall the driver or the whole system.

    No, the graphics card can not be upgraded

    What you can do, it is memory and the upgrade of the HARD drive. This should be very easy and should cause no serious problems.

    Upgrading CPU is little tricky.

  • Qosmio F20-136 - Question about installing Linux in virtualization

    I have Windows XP MCE 2005, Ubuntu 8.10 & openSUSE 11.0 on my laptop F20-136 (triple boot).

    I intend to:

    0 save the partition Windows XP MCE 2005
    1. remove all the.
    2. install openSUSE w / Xen Virtualization.
    3. then create virtual machines to run backup Windows XP MCE 2005, new 8.10 of Ubuntu and other linux distributions.

    The questions are:
    1 F20-136 requires Windows XP MCE 2005 as its main operating system?
    I ask this question because I noticed that when I disable the builtin speakers in XP, I can't turn them on when I boot in openSUSE.
    So it seems to me that XP with Toshiba drivers and other software on Toshiba system has complete control over the material.

    2. will it affect Qosmio player?

    3. is there any other software virtualization is better than openSUSE w / virtualization Xen?
    I know MS Virtual PC, VMWare, VirtualBox.

    Please note that probably I don't want Windows XP MCE 2005 + virtualization (which will be my last option). I would like to have virtualization using Linux, openSUSE preference as he impressed me with his ability to (fast start/stop<= 45="">

    After further investigation, I think of virtualization VirtualBox which offers a bare metal solution, i.e. without operating system host is necessary.

    VitualBox (hypervisor) layer can be installed directly on the hardware, and then the virtual machines can be created for different operating systems.

    In this spirit, I have queries:

    Say I back up the entire hard drive (just in case the plan everything is the draw, I would restore the image of the entire hard drive), delete the contents of the entire disk, install VirtuaBox.

    1. let Qosmio player as well, which by my understanding, is 10 GB of free space somewhere on the hard drive?

    2. I would be able to install XP MCE recovery disk to create a virtual machine?

    Thank you
    Amol

  • Simple questions about drag liberation movements.

    Hello

    I looked for some time, but I wasn't able to understand everything that I need.

    In short, I want to have a simple Drag and Drop.
    I don't want to move the data, I just want to have a node (source) to interact with another node (target). Each funky stuff like change the color or change mouse cursors when I go on potential targets are not important for now.
    I want just a beginning 'drag', a 'drop' and a 'dragdone '.
    Rendering, it is the start of the trail and the part of the drop.

    I used the setOnDragDetected function, which works very well and decided to startFullDrag() from the API seems to me, that is the right way.
    this.setOnDragDetected(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>()
            {
                @Override
                public void handle(MouseEvent p_Event)
                {
                    System.out.println("DragDetect");
                    startFullDrag();
                    p_Event.consume();
    As it seems to activate or maybe switch the DragEvents to MouseDragEvents - I used setOnMouseDragReleased to activate a reaction on a 'drop' (or a 'drag version') with success.
    this.setOnMouseDragReleased(new EventHandler<MouseDragEvent>()
            {
                @Override
                public void handle(MouseDragEvent p_MDEvent)
                {
                    System.out.println("DragRelease");
                    p_MDEvent.consume();

                }
            });
    But I want to change something about the source, although I have the drag (grayish color, perhaps) and he had to find, when the brake is completed.
    For the DataDrags, it is possible with "OnDragDone" which seems to be enabled for the source. Exactly what I want, as it seems.
    It does not somehow for my knots.

    They Interact with nodes form the same base class, so that each would catch any event, which would be activated, but no node has given me an exit. I tried each recipient event that seemed remotely appropriate.
    I don't want some Drag Queens 'half-alive' or anything like that. I'd really like to be able to react at the end of a drag.

    I would be really grateful if you can help me with this problem.

    TL; Dr:
    Drag-and - release from one node to another works, but I can't get an event that informs the node that the drag is finished. So I may not remove changes to the interface, I did to make the clear source as the "source".

    Published by: Anro on 12.11.2012 04:43

    This tutorial covers what you need: http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/drag_drop/jfxpub-drag_drop.htm

    For your "done drag" was not based on the source, I think that you must invoke
    setDropCompleted (true)
    on the event drag to make this happen.

    If you want something like

    target.setOnDragDropped(new EventHandler() {
      public void handle(DragEvent event) {
        // process end of drag on target
        ...
        // Now inform the drag event that everything's complete:
        event.setDropCompleted(true);
      }
    };

    source.setOnDragDone(...);

    I purchased a Qosmio F20-136 with 512 MB of on-board RAM, but wanted to update, so bought additional 512 MB RAM (DDR2) for a total of 1024 RAM.

    I said global PC sales guy I wanted only if the laptop has two slots.

    I do not go any further.

    Does anyone know if there are two slots or that one meaning that I have to buy a bar of 1 GB DDR2?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    The Qosmio support two memory locations, and it should be possible to use 2 sticks of memory. You can upgrade the memory for max 2048 MB (2x1024Mo).
    The locations of memory, you will find at the bottom of the unit. To remove the small cover that secures the slot. Also see the user manual. You should also find a detail.

    PS: These modules of memory are supported:

    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)

    All the best
    David

    Hi david

    Please understand that mobile technology is completely different Office of PC technology and motherboards are all just different.
    Upgrading the CPU's especially not possible or very risky for other reasons.

    A main reason could be overheating; as you know the stronger CPU would produce more heat and this could lead to a higher temperature and finally to overheating...

    In addition you BIOS was not configured for other processors so it possible s that your laptop does not start after such update!

    See you soon
