Qosmio G20: XP Installation disk & SATA USB

Hello

I have Toshiba Qosmio G20 and I have the following problem:
When I try to install new windows using the SATA drivers via the floppy USB drive as a process of installing classic XP SATA drivers are needed 2 times:

First time as usual, you will need to press F6 to specify drivers via the USB floppy drive, that this is no problem. The works of diskettes.

Afterworlds it is the second time that when the same SATA drivers are required from diskette (drive A :). After the selection of the 1 install Windows XP blue screen 3 options, before the first reboot. The installation starts copying the files required for the instillation process and asks AGAIN COPY THE SATA DRIVERS for more usage of the system.

On this stage the USB Floppy is see inaccessible computer cant that it has USB floppy A:.
So I can't continue with installing XP because for the next reboot is no SATA driver and no hard drive is detected.

I tried this several ways and several versions of XP Setup, but the same result.

Please tell me how to fix the problem will be updated firmware available which can see the USB floppy plugged into this scene.

Kind regards
Konstantin

Hello

Did you install the RAID driver?
Well, I put t know if it because of this problem, but as much as I know the Toshiba RAID driver must be added during the installation, when prompt to 'press F6 if you need to install a third-party RAID or SCSI driver.

To do this, please download the Toshiba RAID driver from the web page of Toshiba driver download and extract the zip to a disk file. Connect the floppy drive to your computer before starting the installation.

The Setup program continues until you are asked if you want to "S = specify additional device. Press' and specify the driver Toshiba Raid for XP or 2000 as required.
Press 'Enter' to continue the installation.

When you use Windows Setup to partition or format the HARD drive, the RAID driver is deleted in the process.

Please tell me if you have resolved the problem.

Best regards

I was wondering if someone could help me with this problem? • Qosmio G20: Possible boot from a USB device?

    Dear all,

I am writing for you good people was whether it is possible to start a Qosmio G20 via a connected USB device, an external hard drive.

I wonder if it is taken in charge (or tolerable) within the limits of the current Qosmio G20 BIOS and/or if any could attempt on my part to make taken in charge (i.e. are there buttons I can push levers, I can pull or numbers I can play to get there).

The reason why I have is that my laptop has a multitude of technical difficulties that point to the hardware failure, among them a vertical line on my screen and a problem with my optical drive, making it impossible for me to write a CD or DVD.

In the unlikely event that the good folks at Toshiba support are forced to replace the hard drive (or the system) it would be nice to have a way to restore the system to its current configuration (in this sense, I'm looking for a way to create my own bootable recovery disc produced) however the lack of functionality in the Department of optical drive ties my hands a little (I can't create a recovery of) product custom CD/DVD but I might create a product on my external HARD drive recovery partition).

Thus, it would be useful to be able to boot from a USB, not essential of course as any disk image could be comfortably written to disk through my soon-to-be renovated system (of course it would be quicker to start just by the USB bus and avoid all this nonsense).

    Sincere greetings,
    Lee Hyde.

    Hello

I am sorry to say that you will not be able to boot from the external USB HDD. The BIOS does not support this feature.
According to different threads here in the support of forum Toshiba Qosmio G20 BIOS supports these devices to start:
Floppy USB drive, 1st/2nd HDD, ODD, network (LAN)

As you can see it s possible to floppy USB FDD but not the USB external HDD

    Hello

Well, as far as I know that the Qosmio Player has been installed on the partition hidden on the new laptop, but perhaps the ASP is not install this application after replacing HARD drive.

But I do not understand why the missing Qosmio Player should have a bad influence on the media library? MC is a Microsoft program that is part of the Windows XP MCE. Player of Qosmio is an invention of Toshiba and should have nothing to do with the MCE.

However, you can try to install the Qosmio Player and then try to recover the entire operating system with the recovery CD Toshiba original delivered.

    Maybe it helps.

    Hello

As I know the image designed to the Japan isn't the same as it is in Europe and you should check if you can find a RAID driver designed to Japan for your device. I hope that it won't be difficult.

It is really possible to have the problem because of it.

    Good luck!

  • Qosmio G20 no longer works after trying to load the SATA driver

My qosmio g20 was working until I loaded a driver sata intel (f6flpy).
Now the lights are working but no attempt to access cd or hard disk etc.
Is there a way I can reverse the procedure or reinstall drivers chipset etc I guess I corrupted?

    Hello

I think that you have installed a wrong driver!

The fact is that the Qosmio G20 supports RAID functionality and you must include the RAID driver and not the driver SATA!

The RAID driver can be found on the European driver Toshiba page!
Please choose your model of laptop (right series), download the RAID driver, install it instead of driver SATA and follow along with the Windows operating system installation.

I think this should solve this problem.

I'd appreciate some feedback from you!

    Hello

As far as I know Windows XP needs a file NTFS format the hard drive.
Why you changed the file system format? The chkdsk message usually occurs due to defective files or sectors of HARD disk system.
I recommend you to install the OS on the NTFS format.
Have you checked if Ca? s possible to start the process of recovery from the recovery CD?

  • Installation of Linux on Qosmio G20 - RAID refusing hard drive detection

    Hello
Did anyone had success in installing linux on the qosmio g20? I have two drives of 80 GB each. RedHat Setup is unable to detect the readers for me. I realize account I need a driver disk to get, maybe this works - drivers who do I really need - there are tons of SATA drives - or maybe about it, I'm going the wrong way - any help will be apprecitaed.
    Thank you

    Hello

I didn t try to install Linux on Qosmio G20 but friend of mine told me he has success using Suese 9.3 because there is also the RAID (Redundant Array of inexpensive (or independent) Disks). On this way, you can use two drives in combination for fault tolerance and performance / fault tolerance is the ability of a system to respond gracefully to a hardware or software failure unexpected.

Sorry but I have no more information.

    Good bye

  • Boot from usb pendrive on Qosmio G20

Hi, my name is Gregorio, I have a toshiba qosmio G20, and I would like to know how to start via USB pendrive which I installed a linux operating system, but I can't be able to run it. I m trying to do that, because I Don t know how to create a partition in a raid system and install linux in this partition, so my alternative is a live USB. Thank you.

Madam, Sir, I do not think that your G20 is able to boot from a USB device. This kind of shoe is supported by the qosmio G40/45 G50/55 models.
As you can see when turning on your qosmio you will see an or 2 HARD drive, a floppy disk, a cd/dvd player and LAN. In the latest qosmio model you can also see a USB... then I think that we must build another partition on your HARD drive.
Sorry for my English (I know a few)!
    all the best

  • Qosmio G20 102: problem RAID the installation of windows xp media center

First of all I did not the raid driver for my qosmio. I tried the RAID of Qosmio G20, another pilot but when it reached the stage when I ask windows to format the C driver it shows me an error. It is said that there is an error in the KR10N file and it stops there.
Please help me and thank you.

    Hello

It seems that the Qosmio G20 102 belongs to the series of PQG20E.
Research on the European driver Toshiba page I found the RAID for Windows XP MCE driver v1.03.0008 (can also be used with XP Pro).

You will need an external USB FDD to include this driver in the operating system.
But note; After installing the RAID driver you shouldn't t format the HARD disk or create a new partition, because that will remove the RAID driver from the HARD disk and installing the OS fails!

I hope I could help you would also appreciate a feedback ;)
    Best regards

  • JBOD Qosmio G20 - could not initialize the disk of 320 GB - 1RAID-0

    Hello, comrades Toshiba users,
at first, I apologize if this question has already been answered, but I did not find the answer to my problem.

One of my colleagues has a Toshiba Qosmio G20 with two 80 GB drives. Big 17-inch "surf-board-sized" computers laptops are not my cup of tea, but the Qosmio him quite well served.
We tried to upgrade the two hard drives of aging in his laptop. With considerable experience in replacing the readers of the laptop, I didn't expect no particular surprise, but I was wrong.

We tried to replace the original disks
Bay 1: 80 GB Fujitsu drive, System
2: 80 GB Fujitsu drive, data, RAID off the coast of the Bay

    with the new
Bay 1: 320 GB WD Scorpio
WD Scorpio 2: 320 GB drive Bay.

The BIOS of the G20 is v1.30, the latest version. It recognizes new readers-, but one of the new marking as 1RAID-0 disks fails. After trying to "initialize" the 320 GB drive in bay 1 as 1RAID-0, on the third page of the G20 of BIOS, there is a disk activity, but the drive remains in JBOD mode.

Unable to mark the drive of 320 GB 1RAID-0, I am unable to use the 320 GB drive as a system disk.

If the original system drive is cloned on a new 320 GB drive, that it does not start. Starting XP * begins * but subsequently fails with STOP 0x7B - in other words, the infamous blue screen INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE when the Toshiba RAID driver is loaded during Windows startup.
Plain vanilla CD, of course with slipstreamed windows installation driver Toshiba, impossible rest. Installing Windows don't "see" drive in Bay 2.

When the drive system is put in the high Bay and G20 is started from it, Windows XP starts correctly. The drive in Bay 1 is accessable from Windows, however, remains offline in the RAID from Toshiba console. If the start player in Bay 2 is not an option, too.

A similar problem, where the owner could not install a system of 200 GB drive is described here
    Link: http://tinyurl.com/38wokw
The owner, however managed to install a 100 GB drive and we have resorted to 80 GB of disk as a system disk and the only player upgrade in Bay 2 to 320 GB.

I understand what happens when the disk is 'initialized' in the BIOS. Only brands of BIOS of Toshiba disk 1RAID-0, and it breaks down on 320 GB drive. I will refrain from expressing my opinion on this practice.

My question is - if it is possible, how * manually * mark the drive of 320 GB 1RAID-0?
Using a hex editor, dd or something similar is no problem. A partial answer would also know the disc more large size which * can * be marked with success under the name of 1RAID-0 at BIOS G20.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure, what could be wrong by presumably 320 HARD drive size might be too big!
How about the 100 GB or 120 GB hard drives?

I think you should consider it because usually most of the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and therefore not all sizes are supported.

But note; using the configuration of 1RAID-0 (striping), met by the operating system size is twice more only if the smaller of the two HARD drives in RAID configuration. Using RAID-0, all data on both disks will be lost, even if it is training of two disks fails.

  • How to install Win XP on Qosmio G20 using USB flash memory key

    Dear Admin,

    Thanks in advance

    > Then I try to install via a PEN drive bootable with integrated... XP but when I go into the BIOS I n I find USB Boot option... :-(

Connect the USB flash memory key to the laptop, now switch on and press F12.
The start menu should appear where you could see all the possible boot devices.

Do you see the USB boot option in the start menu?
If this isn't the case, then you will not be able to boot from USB flash memory.

    > Then I remove my main hard drive and put it in another laptop and install the XP, its work in this laptop, but unfortunately when I put the new HARD drive the Qosmio his departure gives the XP logo but in 5-10 sec its judgment and give a blue screen message then then restart automatically...

I guess that this is because the RAID drivers was not included!
Qosmio G20 supports the RAID controller and you add the RAID driver (located on the Toshiba UE driver page) in order to recognize the HARD drive.
But I put t know if you could do so using another computer I guess that's not possible.

Maybe you can try to disable RAID in BIOS
