Qosmio G20 RAID installation problem

Hello
I decided to re - install WIndows Xp on my laptop one followed the instructions in the manual.
I pushed F6 to load from my USB, RAID driver and was fine, Windows has detected
the two hard drives and I chose one for a new installation. Windows will ask formatting
(I chose NTFS quick) and then a screen will appear:
__________________________________
Insert the TOSHIBA RAID driver diskette into drive A:

then press enter;

The USB key is still there, same disk that was read during the process of F6, and I just
Press enter, but it does nothing. He does not even read the disc. As if expecting something?

Any help will be appreciated...

Thank you very much in advance,

Mario.

PS. : I pressed on (as despair grows) ALL keys on the keyboard (with the exception of the F3 that closes)
and the same result. Nothing happened...

    Hello
Did anyone had success in installing linux on the qosmio g20? I have two drives of 80 GB each. RedHat Setup is unable to detect the readers for me. I realize account I need a driver disk to get, maybe this works - drivers who do I really need - there are tons of SATA drives - or maybe about it, I'm going the wrong way - any help will be apprecitaed.
    Thank you

    Hello

I didn t try to install Linux on Qosmio G20 but friend of mine told me he has success using Suese 9.3 because there is also the RAID (Redundant Array of inexpensive (or independent) Disks). On this way, you can use two drives in combination for fault tolerance and performance / fault tolerance is the ability of a system to respond gracefully to a hardware or software failure unexpected.

Sorry but I have no more information.

  • Qosmio G20: XP Installation disk & SATA USB

    Hello

I have Toshiba Qosmio G20 and I have the following problem:
When I try to install new windows using the SATA drivers via the floppy USB drive as a process of installing classic XP SATA drivers are needed 2 times:

First time as usual, you will need to press F6 to specify drivers via the USB floppy drive, that this is no problem. The works of diskettes.

Afterworlds it is the second time that when the same SATA drivers are required from diskette (drive A :). After the selection of the 1 install Windows XP blue screen 3 options, before the first reboot. The installation starts copying the files required for the instillation process and asks AGAIN COPY THE SATA DRIVERS for more usage of the system.

On this stage the USB Floppy is see inaccessible computer cant that it has USB floppy A:.
So I can't continue with installing XP because for the next reboot is no SATA driver and no hard drive is detected.

I tried this several ways and several versions of XP Setup, but the same result.

Please tell me how to fix the problem will be updated firmware available which can see the USB floppy plugged into this scene.

    Kind regards
    Konstantin

    Hello

Did you install the RAID driver?
Well, I put t know if it because of this problem, but as much as I know the Toshiba RAID driver must be added during the installation, when prompt to 'press F6 if you need to install a third-party RAID or SCSI driver.

To do this, please download the Toshiba RAID driver from the web page of Toshiba driver download and extract the zip to a disk file. Connect the floppy drive to your computer before starting the installation.

The Setup program continues until you are asked if you want to "S = specify additional device. Press' and specify the driver Toshiba Raid for XP or 2000 as required.
Press 'Enter' to continue the installation.

When you use Windows Setup to partition or format the HARD drive, the RAID driver is deleted in the process.

Please tell me if you have resolved the problem.

  • Qosmio G20 error message: problem with the cooling system has been detected

I'm trying to fix a Qosmio G20 (which is about 3 years old, it is no longer in warranty).

Error message: Warning: a problem with the cooling system has been detected.

I managed to remove the outer case and observe the operation of the machine, and basically one of the fans does not at all. The fan which is closest to the power connector seems to work very well (he seems to be turning a lot, do not know if this is normal), but the other fan who does not seem to move at all.

When I put in place the case and on the machine, I noticed after a few minutes the vent of the fan working heat sink had warm enough, while led the non-working fan remained cool.

I cleaned the fan from dust and have also changed the BIOS battery mode mode high performance, but the problem still exists.

I would be grateful if someone could give advice if the problem is the fan or something else.

If the fan is the problem, where I can buy a: i live in the United Kingdom?

    Hello

I think there might be something wrong with the cooling module and the replacement would be necessary.
Usually, this should be done by an authorized provider (ASP) in your country.

Technicians could replace it with a new part and also could renew the thermal grease which is placed between the module and the CPU cooling.

So contact the ASP in your country and ask for later handling.

By the way; also, you can buy the cooling of the ASP module!

    Good luck

  • Qosmio G20 raid and SUSE 10.2

Hello, I plan the installation of SUSE 10.2 and currently have my HD 2 in raid 0 mode and I was wondering if they would consider Linux as a HD or 2 I want to dual boot with XP.

Any advice on this would be very happy.

I just tried to install Linux and it only recognizes as separate readers 2 those so it seems I need a raid driver, does one exist if so where is it.

    Hello

I googled around and some sites provide drivers for Linux RAID.

But in my opinion if you want to use the dual OS you cannot use RAID.
If you use RAID everything is mirrored and the second HDD provide the same content as the first HARD drive.
To my knowledge if you want to run Windows and Linux together, you must disable the RAID

  • Need the drivers NVidia for Qosmio G20 because of problem of Second Life

Nobody knows when the latest drivers will be ready or if they are already to the G20.

I am up and works well with those who is downloaded from Windows Update, yet I can't get Second life, work on my G20 and there seems to be a video driver issue.

I can't use the NVidia Web site as she advises to go on the Toshiba site, but the only Vista drivers available are for the G30. These will work?

If anyone has Second life working on their G20, please let me know how. It becomes frustrating now.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Marvell Raid installation problem

I try to add the second raid 0 using two WD black 1 TB connected to the next pair of sockets of Marvell on the MB.  I put this connection sata raid, but after reboot and use Ctrl m to enter the configuration of Marvell, I can't see these black WD - 300 GB raptors already implemented and working.

If I go into Win7 disk management I can see two WD blacks as unallocated volumes.

Any ideas where I could go wrong?

    Update the controller to that.

Your ram settings are not correct. The 79 X used in the Intel software raid controller business, makes all this is cached in ram. If your questions about long-distance running transfers the ram is corrupt data.

  • Qosmio G20 - Slot Type DVD Writer does not in all disks

Problem: My DVD player is a slot type. I can't insert any CD/DVD disc even if I can push the disc inside full inside the drive, the drive does not it because it comes out as if I push the drive against a spring.

But when I try to insert a disc in the drive while the system is turned on, it detects the insertion of media & power ups system to read the media, but still should not be in all drives.

Is this a defect in the DVD drive & I can fix it or I have to go to a new?
Is this a software or hardware failure or any other?

I'll appreciate your answers fast & friendly.

    > Is that a defect in the DVD drive & I can fix it or I have to go for a new?
    > Is this a software or hardware failure or any other?
    I think it s a hardware problem.
But just a question; are you able to boot from a boot disk?

If not then this could be really a hardware problem and in this case, that the CD/DVD drive needs to be replaced in most cases, it s not possible to repair the STRANGE old the STRANGE old will be replaced by a new one

  • Qosmio G20 102: problem RAID the installation of windows xp media center

First of all I did not the raid driver for my qosmio. I tried the RAID of Qosmio G20, another pilot but when it reached the stage when I ask windows to format the C driver it shows me an error. It is said that there is an error in the KR10N file and it stops there.
Please help me and thank you.

    Hello

It seems that the Qosmio G20 102 belongs to the series of PQG20E.
Research on the European driver Toshiba page I found the RAID for Windows XP MCE driver v1.03.0008 (can also be used with XP Pro).

You will need an external USB FDD to include this driver in the operating system.
But note; After installing the RAID driver you shouldn't t format the HARD disk or create a new partition, because that will remove the RAID driver from the HARD disk and installing the OS fails!

I hope I could help you would also appreciate a feedback ;)

  • Problems with Qosmio G20 and SuSE Linux 10.3 installation

    Hello

I can't install SuSE Linux 10.3, because the hard drive will not be detected.
I think it's the Software Raid... in the BIOS are only the options of Raid 0 and JBOD. When I changed to JBOD, it says I need to install the new os.
Windows XP Professional is installed on the computer and I want to have a system to dual-boot with Open SuSE 10.3.
How can I solve the problem?

    MfG

Man... that's a really complicated problem.

First of all, please consult this site unofficial toshiba official: http://linux.toshiba-dme.co.jp/linux/eng/pc/QosG20_report.htm

West a complete report on your machine where all material etc. are described. The two entries on the bottom of the site describe the problem that you have.

Another good friend called 'google' redirected me [THIS | http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=574116] site.

You see, it s a problem since your RAID controller is not correctly recognized by some kernels/distributions.
I have no perfect solution for you, but I propose to try another distro (since there are hundreds of them) who could probably work with your machine.

The best would be to visit www.google.com and type something like "Qosmio G20 linux raid". Trust me, you will get many results. :)

    Keep rocking with linux ;)

  • Clean OS installation problem on Qosmio G20 111

YOU HAVE PURCHASED A QOSMIO G20 AND I WANTED TO DO A CLEAN XP INSTALL
SINCE THE SECOND DISK (D) NO CD.
I CHANGED THE FILE SYSTEM FROM NTFS TO FAT32 ON THE TWO HARD DRIVES.
THE FIRST STEP OF COPYING THE FILES FROM THE SECOND DRIVE (D) TO THE
FIRST HDD (C) SE PAST WELL, BUT WHEN IT RESTARTS TO COMPLETE THE
INSTALLATION IT STOPS SAYING - MAYBE A VIRUS O OTHER USE CHEK DISC OPTION.

    AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

    ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED

    Hello

As far as I know Windows XP needs a file NTFS format the hard drive.
Why you changed the file system format? The chkdsk message usually occurs due to defective files or sectors of HARD disk system.
I recommend you to install the OS on the NTFS format.
Have you checked if Ca? s possible to start the process of recovery from the recovery CD?

  • Graphics driver installation problems - Qosmio G20 PQG21

Try to install the latest graphics driver (available on the website of toshiba in the United Kingdom) produces an error message this file NV4_mini.sy is unreadable, even if it's there. Any ideas?

I tried several times to download and decompression in various places. Incidentally, do toshiba have no technical support at all, or is it left to their customers to provide free of charge to each other - they don't seem to have any method of contact on their site?

Have you downloaded the graphics driver on the right for the right OS and you're sure you Qosmio G20's series of PQG21?

Try to download the driver from this page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

The installation process is very easy. After the decompression of the files, you must start the setup.exe or if missing the setup.exe, you can install the diver from the Device Manager.
