Qosmio G30-145: RAID1 is degraded - KRC RAID configuration error

I made a few mistakes... I installed the German version recovery dvd OP and during the installation of my foolness I fact also (mirrored) HDD = HARD drive... something like that...
now there is a denunciation of the BACK: (if I wanted to get it back once more from toshiba dvd recovery, because I did the format...)

in the black window:

Manage the RAID configuration.
# Mode GET1 F
# 0 x 00 not 'F' flags!
Get the current status of RAID...
RAID level = RAID-1 (mirror)
Status: degraded
: Error KRC RAID configuration!
Please go to BIOS to set up a valid RAID configuration. (I tried all variations... but without success... every time the same thing...)
Press a key to continue...
end

HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

Hello

Ok. You have changed the RAID settings in the BIOS.
In my opinion, you can use the CD of restoration with the default RAID settings in the BIOS.
I mean that the RAID driver on the recovery cd was preinstalled and you have changed the settings RAID in the BIOS for the recovery CD did not work properly.

Do not mix the original Windows CD from Microsoft with the recovery CD. The CD-ROM of Microsoft the RAID driver is not, but on the recovery CD.

I checked the Qosmio manual I found on the Toshiba site.
If you want to install the original WinXP you must safe the RAID driver on the floppy.
In addition the in table settings BIOS RAID, make sure that the built-in HDD is set to 1RAID-0.

The RAID in the BIOS configuration settings are described as follows:
JBOD - parameters without RAID, Windows cannot be installed on this drive except by using the recovery CD/DVDs.
1RAID-0 - compatible set RAID. Windows can be installed on the drive
2RAID-0 - 0 for 2 hard drives RAID set
RAID 1 -RAID-1 set for 2 hard drives (current only)
UNKNOW - State RAID except the State and settings (State only) above
No. Drive - no hard drive connected

If you accept the settings you must type a string: 1,2,3,4 then enter. At the end you must save all change in the BIOS.

You have suggested that you have the German language. If you want to read the manual in English you can download it from the site.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

According to the Toshiba page suggested when installing Windows using to partition or format the HARD drive, the RAID driver is deleted in the process. This causes the shot the next time that the machine start-up.
To avoid this, perform a partitioning and formatting before you run the manual installation of Windows.
This behavior is not displayed during the installation of Windows XP with SP2 integrated

Well, perhaps, you need a CD OS Win SP2 integrated?

But why you do not use the recovery CD Toshiba delivered?
On this CD, all drivers are preinstalled and you only need to install the OS from the recovery CD. All should work properly.

PS: Just for the record: in the BIOS, you should find an option to disable (or change) the RAID.

I was able to download 'raid-drv-qog20-xp - 1380.zip', but I'm afraid to look if my laptop has a floppy drive... How can I add the driver did not have a floppy drive?

    Hello

Maybe a stupid comment, but if you can buy Qosmio G30 I presume that you can also get a used floppy disk. I did this a few times with Vista and Qosmio G30 and it works well.

Check eBay. You will get the drive used for a few euros. Otherway tries to create CDs and if the RAID drive must travel to ODD, I didn't try because I have a FDD, but you can test it on your Qosmio.

    Hello

The software is delivered on the hardware and you can not buy DVDs from separate recovery for another language of the OS. One possibility is to use Microsoft installations CD and after that, you can download all the stuff from Toshiba from the Toshiba download page.

By the way: check this forum please, especially operating system topics Qosmio and Microsoft and you will find some of the topics on the procedure of the facilities on interesting Qosmio laptops.

  • Qosmio G30 - Question on the Raid driver

Do I really need this driver to use RAID functions? If its set in BIOS, what makes the pilot actually do? outside you give health statistics?

    See you soon

Yes, you need the RAID driver.
I think that the Qosmio G30 has been designed with the RAID feature as some units of the G20.
Without this RAID driver, you will not be able to install the OS because the OS Setup may not recognize the HARD drive.

    RAID uses two options:
RAID 0 (Striping): two hard disks are used as a big drive, if a HARD disk fails all data is lost
RAID-1 (Mirroring): hard drives contain the same data if a disk fails, data is not lost

I think you could check this announcement and also use the advanced search to forum for more results on RAID.

  • QOSMIO G30 - RAID-1 is GRADIENT, the search for a solution

    Hello

My QOSMIO G30 is confirgured in RAID1. Today the second hard drive failed, unless I hard when I saw "RAID-1 is DEGRADING" displayed on the screen to power on the computer. Once booted Vista Ultimate, I get an error indicating that the Toshiba Raid Service had stopped unexpectedly (this message is also recorded in the system event log). "Unable to get the State raid console display."

Go to the BIOS Setup, I see that the secondary hard drive is in the State has failed while the first is in the online state. The two hard drive are marked "RAID-1.

I restarted after removing the second hard drive in the system. Of course, I always get the message from the bios. Vista boots normally and then I get an alarm saying the raid is broken. It's perfectly anticipated if only the second hard disk is now deleted.

I connected the hard drive to a SATA Transcend USB controller and it work perfectly! Then I reinstalled the hard drive in the computer. After the reboot, the raid service accident again. The first hard disk is functioning stil and I made a backup full, just in case.

I searched a lot for a procedure restoring the second hard drive operation, but I've not found anything really helpful.

Go into the BIOS, if I change the disc to nothing else than "RAID-1" mode, I said that I have to reinstall the OS. I don't want to do that. I want to back the second hard drive in operation. I want to have the mirror restored from the first hard drive on the second hard drive, without losing the contents of your hard drive.

    Any help is appreciated.

This with changing RAID mode and install of the OS is just because when you change the RAID in the BIOS operating system must be installed again. RAID info should be saved into the MBR.
What RAID driver and RAID utility do you use?
One last thing: is your laptop preinstalled with recovery Toshiba (32 bit) image?

    > I want to put the second hard drive in operation.
To be honest, one thing is not understandable to me. Are you trying to get old HDD (a second) working again or you have new HARD drive (as a second) und try to have mirrored hard drives again?
Have two exact hard drives the same capacity?

    Hi mate

Installing the RAID driver could solve this problem...

Also, I guess you used the right RAID settings in the BIOS.
As far as I know, you can change the RAID option in the BIOS on the last page (3-3)
RAID0 means stripping and RAID1 mirror you want to use.

After changing the RAID parameters, you must confirm this insert the string 1,2,3,4 and enter.

But note; After changing this you will need new OS install

  • Qosmio G30 - RAID may not reflect new 500 GB HARD drive

I have installed 2 new identical 500 GB hard in my Qosmio G30 with Windows XP.

The system works well, but the disc cannot be mirrored. Report of the Raid Controller is 'Normal Operation status.

This disk cannot be used for mirroring because it is outside the management of the RAID."

Who can tell me whether it is a disc error or is the drive of 500 GB to big for the toshiba with Windows XP raid controller?

    > Can anyone tell me if it of a disc error, or is the drive of 500 GB to big for the toshiba with Windows XP raid controller?

Hmm. I m not very good, but it could be possible that the 500 GB HARD drive is too big for the mirroring of the mode.

But have you tried to change the mode in comforter Toshiba RAID you might find in Toshiba Assist-> Protect Fix & -> RAID Console

Check if you can switch to the mirroring.

By the way; RAID-1 is defined in the BIOS?
Usually, when you use RAID-1 configuration, the RAID is set to mirroring. In this case, the operating system recognizes the reduced ability to both hard drives (in your case, it is not important since you are using the two 500 GB HDD).

    Check it!

  • Re: Qosmio G30 - RAID of the problems when installing the OS

I got my Qosmio G30-161 for half a year and he had thought should be time to reinstall everything, so I could get rid of things I didn't need (programs, viruses and uninteresting video clips).

So I took my XP MCE Cd and tried to install, and I am guided me through and come to the place where I had to choose between unknown 1st and 2nd 3rd stripping mirrored. I chose the stripping as I wanted my drives to be in one. Then when I pressed "next" it gave me the error message "1005 - HDD is not ready?

I tried to go into the BIOS and change the setting of different parameters of Toshiba told me to, but he also warned that if I changed my OS settings will need to be reinstalled. No problem. But I still get the same message error "disk is not ready?". So now, I have to use a computer other than mine to check the forums and mail etc.

Anyone know what I need to do? I'll be happy with anything as long as I can have both my hard drives (60 + 60 GB) and OS work. :)

Please help, I would urge for her, because the computer is the one I use for my school work. Feel free to ask questions about the tricks of the system. If you have an answer, please let it be simple, because I really don't want to mess up again ^_^

Please check the details relating to the installation of RAID user's Guide.
Usually if you use the clean Windows XP disk then you need to include the RAID drivers first.
Without pre-installed RAID drivers HARD drive will not be recognized and you will not be able to install the OS!

  • Advantages disadvantages & RAID and how to assign Qosmio G30 speed

    Hello.

I heard that the RAID configuration can increase or not the speed... If someone more expert can explain to me how it works?

1.) first of all what is RAID (explain in words that an ignorant in the calculation as I can uderstand)

(2.) what is the difference between raid 0 or raid 1 and how it affects the computer?

(3.) what are the advantages/disadvantages to choose between this two settings?

    Hello

I m not a guru RAID ;) but I used Qosmio G20 with and without a permit to RAID technology and I have not noticed the disadvantages of speed.

I see that you are a beginner and so I will try to explain the RAID feature very easily ;)
What is RAID? RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) allows to save data.

The RAID reflected the content of the first HARD drive to the second HARD drive. This means that all the files (depending on the RAID settings) that are stored on the HDD1 is also stored on HDD2. If the HDD1 will damage, you will be able to recover everything from the HDD2 unit.

The two s of HARD drive can be used with mirror RAID-1 or RAID-0 stripping
When you use RAID-1, data is stored twice (once on each of the hard disks) so if there are problems with one of the hard drives, the other HARD disk can be used to retrieve the data.
But you can use only two hard drives as a single HARD drive. (2 disks hard = 1 HDD)

When you use RAID 0 (stripping) met by the operating system size is two times more!
Using RAID-0 configuration, all data on both disks will be lost, even if only one of the two disks fails!

I think that the RAID is very useful because it safes the contents of HARD drive!
Of course, if you use the mirroring option, you can only use the a HDD available!
But you are on the site course ;)

    Hi all!

Demo of the Qosmio has 2 hard drives with XP MCE (32 bit) installed on the primary.
    The RAID parameters are JBOD.
    BIOS is "newer" 3.90

I would try to upgrade the drives (without installing any OS) and... have a problem!
BSOD "Stop 0x0000007B" after 'clone with resizing' for the main HARD disk.

I read on [drivers Toshiba RAID | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=48489] also [how to integrate the AHCI driver when installing Windows XP | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm] and (or)

F6 (for all usb drivers) is not available to boot OS, sorry.

"cloned" drive is in line with the correct name of made in the BIOS. "Cloned" secondary drive works (with old primary school). How to get access to the new primary OS and loading cloned? Please, any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that the system cannot boot to the new HARD disk as the partition where the system is installed, was not marked as bootable system partition.

I recommend to insert the previous HARD drive and to start the laptop.
HARD drive new, cloned could be connected as an external HARD drive to a USB port.

Then you should go to disk management (right click my computer - manage-> management-> disk management computer)
Here you can see the HARD internal disk and the 2nd HARD drive connected to the USB port
Right-click on the partition (2nd HARD drive) where the Win XP has been installed and choose the partition as the system partition and mark it as active.

Then you could change the HARD drive again and could power the device in place. Usually, the system should boot to the top of the new marked system partition.

No, the graphics card can not be upgraded

What you can do, it is memory and the upgrade of the HARD drive. This should be very easy and should cause no serious problems.
