  As far as I know the face before of the Qosmio G30-103 (it is a unit of XP MCE) for computer laptop, you'll find the windows of the infrared receiver and this sensor is able to receive signals from the remote control. BUT this is only supported using the Qosmio Player!
  For MCE, you will need the remote control receiver extra with a USB connector that usually comes with the laptop.

  Yes. A full-size Windows Media Center Remote will work with this laptop.

  It comes with its own USB IR sensor.

  But I decided to test it on the built-in IR receiver of the laptop first until I plugged the USB one.

  And when I tested it, it worked just like kids! Except with more buttons

  No software needed change. Worked right out of the box.

  I read somewhere that this could be solved by installing the last disc of tv tuner. If anyone can confirm this? If Yes, when I try to download the player from Toshiba online support, which comes in a file zip, after extracting it I don't see an option to install it.

  Is it possible, Qosmio player or media library, to have the G30 established to receive a signal from two the built in DVB - T tuner & an external source, such as Sky Digital, connected to the S-video input or Composite?

  This is a very interesting question, but I guess that it is not possible to do this with the Microsoft MCE.
  Like you said you can use either the analog or digital configuration, but not both together. But of course, you can use standard connectors such as S-video to connect your cable or satellite for your PC Media Center box and then to watch and record TV programs.
  But I don't know if you can do all of m.

  Some Media Center PCs are equipped to handle multiple tuners.

  I have a Toshiba Qosmio, and unfortunately it has hardware problems.
  I did some troubleshooting and found that it was the graphics card. I brought my dealer because it is still under warranty.
  They checked and said it was the graphics card in 30 seconds, so he sent him to these guys http://www.serviceexpress.com.au/services.aspx

  After 2 weeks, I rang my dealer and he gave me the website and number of ICF so I could check on my computer. They did nothing so I sent them an email and they said that it was now a priority. After 1 week more I sent the email asking what was going on and they said that it was still a diagnosis.
  After yet another week, it's 2 weeks to diagnose the problem, they say that we send parts and that it could take some time.

  Now do not know if someone at Toshiba are affected by this, but I paid a lot of money for a laptop, that I couldn't user for more than 4 weeks now. As I couldn't find an e-mail address for a contact that I posted hear. I'm very frustrated because the computer itself is good, but I am satisfied with the service I receive.

  I would be happy to receive an email from someone at Toshiba, to see if they think it's acceptable or that they would be happy to go without a computer here for 4 + weeks of time.

• Qosmio G30-116: how to connect to the Sky Digital box to watch TV?

  I recently bought the Qosmio G30-116, with the understanding that I can connect my digital Sky to the laptop (somehow) and watch and record the sky on the laptop

  * note: I do not use TNT or TV I'm on SKY DIGITAL *.
  SINA the converter cable provided to connect the video in on the laptop (video is like a headfone Jack and converter converts to this female RCA/RCA)

  I connected on the laptop and then connect a RCA 3 SCART toward it then in the area of the sky, when you set up the TV section in Windows Media Center, I followed the instructions until it gets to the point where it scans a signal, (before that I wonder what kind of signal that I receive, I select digital but have tried all combinations in) but it does not find a signal.

  Now I was told that Windows Media Center doesn't support analog input and the connection between the sky and the laptop is analog.
  Is this correct or not? then, while typing this I learned by someone else that my laptop is not capable of receiveing SKY DIGITAl as it cannot decode or something. Is that also correct? If not, can what am I doing wrong, and someone help me to get it going? And I go about it the right way or I'm quite the wrong way if the laptop is capable of it?

  AFAIK if you are using an external receiver (sat receiver or even sky digital box) the laptop can bring out just what external device send to the laptop. You can connect your external case to the laptop using composite to the port (transfer of video and audio signals). After that, you can start Qosmioplayer and analyze the available channels.

  You will find a program, but the different channels, you must select the box itself. If a channel must be registered, use Qosmioplayer save option.

  The same must be possible with WMCE. I'm not 100% sure but I also think that the connection between laptop and Skype is analog.

  Sorry, but that's all I know about Qosmio. I tested it with Qosmio G20.

  As you know, the game can be played to laptop and desktop PC. Update driver for desktop PC is not so problematic and can be done more often than on laptops. Never force drivers of graphics cards to run with the best performance. For laptops, it can be problematic because greater performance is more heat inside the laptop. because of this laptop manufacturers can't offer display so drivers often but you can visit some u = independent pages like http://www.laptopvideotogo.com/

  I didn't test it with cable SCART, but I presume that you need adapter SCART to connect to your satellite receiver. Here is the image what it looks like.

  On this map, you can connect S-video cable to transfer the picture to your Qosmio. You will find on the right side for laptop S-video PORT. For sound, you can use the audio cable (red/white) with proper adapter

  As I said I n t test it until now. In any case please check manuals s user document. Maybe, you can find some useful information.

• Qosmio G30: Option unavailable SPDIF in the Audio properties

  I'm looking for audio signal through the built in coaxial to the GPA. No signal. When I go to sounds and Audio devices > advanced > Volume Control Panel /Properties there is no cursor for spdif badette, in the list of things to show in the advanced Panel, or a way to put in operation. Similarly, in sign of SigmaTel there no option to route via spdif.

  In addition, the advanced controls is grayed out in the Volume Control Panel.

  What did I miss? I can't for the life of understand me why there is no signal nor any how to activate spdif in this machine.

  In addition, in the Media control Devices Properties box, it is this list:

  The SPDIF socket is supported on the Qosmio G30. It s the same taken as the headphone jack.
  To use this SPDIF you must connect the audio amp with the laptop via a special SPDIF cable.

  What you could do is to start the DirectX using the command; Dxdiag

  There you can check if the SPDIF is available or not.

  This remote will work, if you use it without any special drivers and special software, only in the Media Center.

  But if you install stuff like [WinLirc | winlirc.sourceforge .net] then you should be able to get some functions for your presentation.

  Please try this tool and check if it works.

  By the way: if I were you I would first read the manual and the WinLirc FAQ before you start because it s a little bit tricky to manage the program. :) (Too many parameters: D)

• Qosmio G30-204 - the CPU temperature is high

  OK, so I have a problem of overheating with Qosmio G30-204. It seems that in the course of suspend the CPU temperature is high, I used SpeedFan to confirm this. EG + 70 degrees C after 5 minutes. 90 + degrees if left any longer!

  I find it very frustrating to say the least. This unit has served sentence. I had not yet touched in nearly two years the initial feeding has stopped working.   Needless to say that I did pretty well as soon as I got the camera. What can be done to fix this problem? If anything like that? It makes me not want / trust buy another Toshiba product.

  In your case I don't he say s a nuisance Toshiba. It can be another problem as Akuma written and this means that it has nothing to do with Toshiba.

  For me it s definitely dust in the heat sink, especially if you do not clean your laptop before. You must use the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. It only takes 5 minutes and should be made from time to time because it s normal behavior which, after a certain time dust, blocking the cooling fan.

  I installed Windows 7 on my Qosmio G30-140, but I can't adjust the brightness settings.
  Instead of allowing me to place the cursor on any position, I want that I'm stuck with only 3 steps which elect to.
  The last of them is way to bright and my eyes keep tear having to deal with this crazy amount of white, especially on white background.
  The other two are very, very dark.
  What is going on? I installed the right Nvidia drivers.
  Also, I can't adjust the brightness using the FN keys on my keyboard. They simply produce no result at all.

  The brightness of the display can be controlled by the FN + F7 and Fn + F6.
  I think you should install the VAP and buttons of the Support of Flash memory card utility in order to get this to work!

  Check the added value Package and Support Flash Card which are released for Satellite L500 utility or new models of laptops.
  In my case it worked!
