Qosmio G40 wouldn't start when it's on battery

Dear all,

I've seen a few threads here with the same question. The solution has been proposed on this forum (actually a working one) back in a batteryout, and the G40 would boot normally...

I called service and they suggested to leave a unit with them for X days. There is absolutely no promises about how X could be... «We cannot promiss anything either before the autopsy is done...» "

* Someone found a solution better than taking the battery all the time? If anyone has been to a service with this question? This problem has been identified by people in service? *

Hi Sergey

There is a solution;
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=28045

and it seems very easy ;)

The BIOS to set the option * WAKE-UP ON BATTERY = _ENABLED_ *.
And save the changes to the BIOS.

My Toshiba Qosmio f15-av201 does not turn when you push the power button, even if the lights of ac adapter & battery are both on (on). Indeed, the yellow light that is supposed to turn on the power button when the laptop is turned off does not appear. In addition, there is no sign that shows the laptop tries to start when the button is pressed, not even a peep. The laptop was recently dismantled (open) to clean the fans, who made the famous monstrous noise which toshiba qosmios are apparently well known for.
Everything seems to be connected correctly in its correct place. Nothing seems to be damaged. So, I have no idea where I can get out of here. Pending issue.

    Help will be less appreciated.

  • Qosmio G40 - 10Z: Question on the use of energy in sleepmode

When I turn my new Qosmio G40 - 10Z in sleep mode, with a full battery (and AC power off), I can't start the next computer. I can only start it up after connecting to power alternative. I get a windows message that Vista has not been closed properly and I wonder to start in safe mode or normal mode.

After starting the battery shows only 2% of the power. So, what is using power in sleep mode? Why is it not the way "sleep" not transferred into the State of hibernation when the battery is almost empty?
(New workbook, only vista and installed office and TV antenna is connected)

    > Ok, energy consumption in sleep mode is a problem: it takes about 20 hours before the battery is empty: is it a normal use of power in sleep mode?

Well, it s nothing unusual that the battery loses power while the laptop is in hibernation or standby.
If the WOL option (wake up on LAN) is enabled in the BIOS the LAN card use battery power all the time long.

Go to the Microsoft page and download all the patches and fixes!
In addition, check if the BIOS update is available.

  • Qosmio G40 - partition of NVCache showed in my computer

So now my Qosmio G40. Some how when I use recovery NVCache Volume is Visible. On that, there the Readyboost file.
It is (500 MB Fat32 partition), and is only 5 MB of free space

Ever since that it began to appear I get the disk cleanup ball telling me I have no space on the disk.

The volume of VNCache is assumed to be Visible? If not, how to remove?
If this is the case, how can I say disk cleanup to ignore it?

    (Edit: now its empty!)

    Thank you

    Hello

To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly. Do you mean the Windows recovery environment Partition?

Normally after the installation of recovery, you have two partitions, and all partitions are already missing.
Maybe you can post a screenshot of disk management.

  • Qosmio G40-108 does not start

    Hi Gang

I hope that there is some good buddies out there that can save a window double glazing to be mullared by that lappy.
I had (Qosmio G40-108 with 4 GB of RAM) since August 2007. Everything was fine until two weeks about where it kept crashing during the execution of a couple normal progs that I use.
After reading several messages from buddies with similar problems, I think it might be the PCI express graphics. Is this good? I can swap out? Or advice, blaggs, ideas or suggestions are very welcome. :)

    * Do not forget: there is always someone worse off than you... *.

    What exactly happens?

  • Qosmio G40-10 s: graphics card problem

    Hello.

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G40 laptop 10s with a Nvidea 8600 M GT grafixs card. I was playing a game when it locked up and pasted what I would describe as flashing red/green 'Matrixy' search screen.

He then a blue screen and trys to reeboot.
He tries to start windows, but once again the top matrix. If it loads to the top, it is in 16 bit color with red dots all over the screen.

I am sure that the GPU is fried... and I was wondering what I can do? It's been 5 months out of warranty now.

I read on some forums that there have been a lot of problems with this Nvidea card... Is there anything I can do outside my warranty period with what there is a possibly faulty card in it from the beginning.

It will cost a lot of money to get it repaired, but its too good a laptop to let go to waste.

    Any help is very appreciated.

    Hello

You also have these lines on an external monitor?
If so, there seems to be a graphics card problem and it must be replaced.

These overheating problems also occur if you use the nVidia display drivers directly. Toshiba drivers are pre-tested and don't overheat your system.

But I think you need professional help. You should contact an authorized service provider and talk to the technicians. They will help you! :)

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F down arrow is triggered by itself

Qosmio G40 - 10th down arrow seems to trigger by itself while booting and while I view web pages.

The problem surface when I was accessing the web pages at the start of the screen to scroll down by himself.
Before, I thought that the button may be pressed hard but when I looked at the issue through a senser key application to test what triggers the down arrow key press on and found that two or three other keys trigger arrow key down automatically.
namely, in arrow, i key, key k, function keys.

But when I press ESC or Page up/Page down, scrolling stops for a while but starts to make arrow down by itself again.

I have re-installed and restored the entire operating system to the date of loading of the factory and the problem solved only for a few minutes and the issue is back.

I am convinced that this is due to software problem and not a hardware problem, as the key works fine for a while and after a few minutes, begins to trigger arrow down permanently.

    Please advise,
    Thank you.

Have you tried an external USB keyboard and then you have the same problem?

I think that it s a hardware problem and the keyboard must be exchanged, but that before test with an external keyboard.

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F: cannot use IRDA

I recently received this Qosmio G40 - 10F and I read on the specifications for its IR. But infrared devices such as the transfer of my phone to the laptop does not work. There is no such IRDA device on Device Manager to activate. So I got the idea that I could check on the bios.
But I do not have the bios boot.
It is usually used to be the DELETE key on my computer but when I boot on the laptop, it does not indicate any key to boot to the bios.

I would appreciate if I could get help at the start of the BIOS or set the IRDA settings on.
    Thanx

I agree, esc should do the trick. :)

  • Qosmio G40-108: bad quality video/DVD playback

I have new Qosmio G40 108 loaded with Vista Ultimate and am very disappointed with the quality of video/DVD playback compared to the older machines loaded with XP. Seems insipid depth bland, not really the color and not too strong. I tried another laptop of another manufacturer and pretty much the same thing!

What is Vista's fault? You want to try XP but blocks me when I boot with XP disc in. I would like to run the two to see if there is a difference. (Sorry to all if this appears as message repeated hurry but bad touches earlier - starting!)

I don't have a notebook, G40 but I use the Vista OS and I must say that the video and the quality of the DVDs is great!
Don't know what DVD software you use, but I use the WinDVD and Windows Media Player. Two applications provide the same quality.

    > I tried another laptop of another manufacturer and pretty much the same thing!
According to your own statement I don't think that there is something wrong with the Qosmio G40 laptop because you have the same opinion on the other non-toshiba computer.

PS; I wonder why you start always different threads on the same topic:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums//message.jspa?MessageID=107067#107067

However, if you wish, you can test the XP if the same phenomenon occurs with other OS.

  • Qosmio G50 - 12U - display stops when 'Welcome' appears

    Display U Qosmio G50-12 problem

When I start the computer (Windows Vista) start page shows Qosmio and the boot process proceeds, but around when the welcome message the display panel stops.

When I hit FN + F5, the display fails to return to the display of the computer Panel.

If I stop and restart the computer several times the m slipped by pot luck the computer display OK. But then, I am reluctant to shut down the computer that I lose the display again.

    Hello

It seems that the internal display has started to malfunction.
I think that its display problem, because the video output to an external monitor/TV is working properly.
This would mean that the graphics card is OK.

If the graphics chip is OK, there is just a game (or two) that might not work: his Billboard or a part between the monitor and the motherboard. something like a cable or an FL inverter, but I think that its display.

  • Qosmio G40 - no webcam with live Messenger

    Hello world

I installed Win 7 on my Qosmio G40 instead of Vista and everything work fine except the webcam that does not work with live Messenger (only) no matter what I do (I tried several drivers, re-installed Win messenger live, close some processes, etc ;) I get this error message:

'* Cannot start your webcam. "Check if it is not used by another program and retry."

What the hell can I do to fix this?

    Hello

I read a lot of discussions about the problems with webcam and messenger Ms.
The problem with Vista has been resolved by the SP1 from Microsoft Update.
Now, it seems to be that the same problem with Win 7 looks like a thing of compatibility

However, because the message says that the webcam is used by another application, I suppose that some background processes lock the webcam

You must remove webcam and messenger MS startup in msconfig.
After that, restart the laptop and don t start the webcam software if you want to use it in Messenger from Ms.

  • Qosmio G40 - graphics card keeps overheating and crashing all at stake

My nVidia 8600GT card in my laptop Qosmio G40 overheating guard and crashing when I m gaming.

It works all the games that I put on it fine, but overheating then crashes and me kicks off the games I play m.
Is it just because it s a laptop and it s inclined to do?

I tried to increase the fan speed with riva tuner and precision, but no program allows me to access the utility of fan speed.
I presume this is because it s a specific card from the laptop... I also can't find the driver for this card from nVidia updates.

    Help, please... James

    Hello!

Are you using the Toshiba display driver? This is important because the pilot factory don t have protection against overheating and the graphics chip can be damaged.

In addition, this could also be an overheating problem. If you need to clean your laptop with a jet of compressed air that you can buy at a local computer retailer.

Last but not least, I would not try to change the speed of the fan or something else. This will be controlled automatically.

    Good bye
