Quad port nic pass through'ed by individual ports

Hi guys. I want to know if I can passthrough some to vm1 and some ports to vm2 to the multiple port network card adapter. (including card intel i350 t4)

Thank you.

Hi Colin,

Yes, you should be able to do this, I took a quick look at one of my boxes, and it seems that you can split I350.

You must configure the device to pass first and then return each NIC that you went through, the virtual machine that you want to. I added a photo to show you mine (not cross at the moment).

  • ESX 4.1.0 detects no no new Quad port NIC

    I came to work today to install some other Quad Port NIC in our ESX 4.1 cluster.

    I bought Intel Gig ET2 Quads to go with the Intel Pro/1000 PT Quad already installed on host computers.

    The ET2s are not detected by ESX but I can put an another Pro/1000 PT in and which will be displayed.

    The ET2 is on the HCL for esx4.1, so it's a matter of not being able to mix and match the network interface cards? Or is there something I need to do to get it to load the drivers?

    I wanted to get the ET2s in there for the unloading of network processor. but I have enough to replace all NICs outright.  We are in a transitional phase and are in need of more ports uplink for a few months but the ET2 seems to be a better card.

    There is a good chance that you may need to add drivers. http://www.VMware.com/download/vsphere/drivers_tools.html

  • Quad Port NIC

    It is advisable to put the LAN CONNECTIONS and a DMZ LINK on the same quad port NIC?

    I want to be able to use one of the ports on the NIC Quad for my Web DMZ VMs.

    Of course, this is no problem.

    If you bring a direct of DMZ in vsphere you will find vshield a product useful to try.

  • Quad Port Nic has not seen on DELL R510 host

    All,

    Thank you for taking the time to read this post. This weekend I will update multiple servers 4.0 Update 1. They where upgrades to 3.5 update 4 and they had no problem and work very well. They where of DELL 2950. We have also installed 3 new Dell R510 with integrated NIC '2' and '2' Port Quad Intel Nic is in the PCI slots.

    After installation of ESX4 on boxes, it only see's Integrated NIC - two Broadcom. Again, really new to version 4.0 and commands, I used in 3.5 to find network cards and network config do not seem to get in the version 4.0...

    How to recognize the NIC in the HOST?

    Thank you in advace

    you will probably need http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_vsphere_4/4#drivers_tools driver CD.  for example, 1000ET Intel gigabit cards use the driver CD VMware ESX/ESXi 4.0 to download driver version 1.3.19.12.1 for Intel 82575 and 82576 Gigabit Ethernet Controller.  Installation instructions are in the .iso image file in the file readme.txt.

  • 10G or Quad Port Nic

    I am currently working on which is better 10 G or a quad port NIC.

    We have a server ESX (VMware standard) which began life as a server test and production of six months four vm who are there path on this box. I got a small budget to spend these four virtual machines to a new box.

    Our goal right now is to move the production virtual machine to a new box and at the time of six to eight months to look and VMotion, DRS.

    We have little space on one of the units of san to cover four virtual machines and growth.

    I was looking at a Dell poweredge 2950, 2 x Quad core CPU, 32 GB of Ram, 2 x 15 k HD in Raid 1, 2 x 1 integrated nic G, I have 2 x 4 GB spare HBA for the san. And the intention to use a base of VMware license for this box. (Limitation is 3 ports PCI Express x)

    Now, this is where the issue comes in I buy a quad port nic and divide

    1 integrated network interface and Quad port nic 1 = Service Console
    2 integrated network interface and Quad port nic 2 = VM vSwitch
    NIC Quadport 3 and 4 = Vmotion (later when we improve)

    Where can I buy a dual port 10G nic (EXPX9502AFXSR) and push the VM vSwitch and Vmotion on the 10G and create virtual networks for the Vmotion at a later date.

    Thank you

    Nick

    We yesterday the same Dell PE2950 with a Quad nic and 2 HBAs - so that the config is ok, but I would have preferred 2 network adapters for the console and one for vmotion - or joining the 3 env set for virtual machines and vmotion.

    And don't forget the consolidation of the different network interface cards (intel and broadcom) is not recommended - but works by us without problems.

    If you already have 10G infrastructure, then you could get 10G network cards - but I wouldn't say not-expensive (just normal network).

  • Support Quad port PCiE NIC to ESXi 3.5 Installable U3

    I have a Dell 2900 III which works very well with ESXi via onboard network cards.

    I need to add additional ports and hoped to do quad port NIC to get the most bang by the extension slot. Problem is that I can't find.  I checked the HCL, and it seems that ESXi supports only NICs to double port.  Is this the case?  Can anyone out there tell me if they have quad port NIC with ESXi, and if so, what model?

    See you soon.

    Quad-port NIC Intel are actually two dual-port chips on one card.  It should work fine.

  • Intel Quad Port Adapter AND

    How the 4 ports on an Intel Gigabit AND Quad Port adapter do not appear on ESXi?

    They appear as individual Ethernet Nics or if they present another way.

    I want to add 4 ports on my machine of ESXi.

    I discovered that I can not use LACP entirely in ESXi so my only other option is to direct connection my NAS units through their own nic on ESXi.

    So in summary, I need 4 Gigabit ports assigned to a VSwitch.  Each will be assigned to a SAR unit.  In this scenario, the AND will work as I think it does?

    FYI, I have and available PCI - X slots and only one only PCI-E 8 x, where my choice of the adapter.

    Thanks for any information you can provide.

    They will appear individually.

  • Broadcom NetXtreme II 5709 quad port NETWORK card driver

    When I look at the Broadcom page for pilots for the NetXtreme II 5709 NIC, NIC is addressed isn't dual port quad-port. This driver is compatible with the version of four ports?

    In this case, I will get the latest version of the driver installed

    Not sure why you posted this in the forum of storage, but in general a quad port card is just two controllers dual port on a single physical card.   On the PCI bus, you see what appears to be four (or two on card dual port) individual network cards.  Although there are two ports on a single chip.

  • Intel Gigabit VT Quad Port Server adapt

    Hello

    I ordered two new servers: Dell PowerEdge R710 with two dual-port broadcom nic´s.

    In addition, we have installed an Intel Gigabit VT Quad Port Server Adapter.

    During the installation of the esx4 (esx 4.0.0 system update 1), card intel is not recognized by esx...

    Even after complete installation, it shows only the 4 broadcom nic´s...

    What should I do to get this card running?

    I read something on the irq sharing problems, so I disabled all the USB Ports in the BIOS, but without success.

    I also changed the pci-express slot without success :/

    Any tips? Maybe something I forgot?

    Help, please!

    Have you installed the drivers for the card when installing ESX?

    Have you ever deleted multiple files in both Solution Explorer?
    Thunderbird works the same way.

    Select the first message you want to delete. Press on and hold down SHIFT and select the last message should be deleted. This selects all messages between the first and the last of them.
    The Ctrl key and click on a message, you can select or deselect them individually.

  • Apple TV 4 Audio pass through

    Hi-

    My current setup is: 4 AppleTV via HDMI-> Onkyo HT-R990 7.1THX via HDMI-> Samsung Smart TV 60 inch LED. The TV speakers are turned off and that all the sound elements through my 7.1 System.

    My question is about how to disable the audio decoding on the Apple TV. Can the Apple TV 4 simply intercommunication audio without decoding? That's why my receiver will decode and choose the best audio configuration for content.

    Having a transmission option is fairly common on most devices such as Blu - Ray players. What's not an option on the Apple TV? I know by selecting "Auto" on the Apple TV, it will send the PCM signal. Why would I have DD or PCM if the content is DTS Master for example? It makes no sense to me.

    I think I have a 'Pass-through' option would satisfy loyal people optical cable and move is a real audio visual component of the Apple TV.

    Does anyone know how this can be done? Your help is greatly appreciated. See you soon!

    It can normally send PCM for music/video stereo and support the bitstream DD for 5.1, ATV 4 7.1 - I assumed AppleTV 4 this but have moved for a few months and don't have not connected my AV Pioneer amp just for the Samsung TV.

    AppleTV does not support DTS officially, certainly not for the content of the iTunes store is not an option, but I don't know about 3rd party applications that could broadcast "other videos" of local shares.

  • using PostDelayedCall how to get the value passed through void * callbackData?

    Can someone tell me how to get the data passed through void * callbackData?

    The following code, panel_ptr has the right address but still contains zero.

    void CVICALLBACK value_changed (void * callbackData)
    {
    int * panel_ptr;

    panel_ptr = callbackData;
    calculate_new_value (* panel_ptr);
    }

    int sign;

    Panel = 2;

    PostDelayedCall (value_changed & Panel, 0.2);

    The problem is using the callbackData parameter if it is a pointer, it must be a pointer to something which is still topical at the moment that the callback executes. That is to say, you cannot pass the pointer to a local variable in callbackData as when the callback executes the pointer is no longer valid. You can switch from its value, instead, in this way:

    ... SomeFunction)

    {

    int sign;

    ...

    Panel = 2;

    PostDelayedCall (value_changed, (void *) Panel, 0.2);

    ...

    }

    void CVICALLBACK value_changed (void * callbackData)
    {
    int panel_ptr;

    panel_ptr = (int) callbackData;

    calculate_new_value (panel_ptr);

    return;
    }

    There are many discussions on the forums on callbackData parameter that you might want to read.

  • Configuration of VMware ESX 5.1/5.5 pass through for PowerEdge 2970

    Hello

    I tried to configure VMware ESX 5.1/5.5 pass through for a 8 GB Qlogic FC HBA on PowerEdge 2970 server.

    Even after activation of the virtual technology in the BIOS, the PCI device is not listed in "Advanced settings" to configure pass-through. Attached screenshot shows the current setting of the processor.

    Hello Sara

    You're talking Direct path IO or single root i/o virtualization? If so, none of these features are supported on the 2970 system.

    I don't think that or the other of these characteristics were available until our 11 generation systems.

  • Pass through IPSEC on Cisco 857

    Hello people!

    I have gained reciently a Cisco 857 router. I want to do a site-to-site VPN.

    I set up the ATM0.1 with "ip unnumbered" VLAN 1 interface. I have not configured the router to enable NAT or PAT. VLAN 1 is configured with a public Ip of my ISP address. Behind the cisco router, I have a Zywall 5, this device is my VPN gateway. Initially, it works very well with the other soho router but it blocks often, for this reason, I decided to change it for a cisco router.

    My problem now is that the cisco router does not allow the implementation of VPN.

    Need to activate the IPSEC pass-through?, how can I do this?

    Thanks in advance!

  • WRV200 VPN pass through limits

    We use a Cisco Small Business WRV200 to allow guests to our office to access the public internet, regardless of our corporate network environment. We regularly invited several visit of a company and generally these users connect to their company via a local VPN client. I noticed that after about 5 users activate successfully their VPN clients that no one else can connect to any other VPN tunnels. Internet connectivity still works when these 5 tunnels are active, but no other users can create a VPN tunnel after this point. Again, these are all movers or Pass through tunnels behind the WRV200 in one single environment NAT. is there a limit on vpn pass through or leaving behind this device connections and if so can it be changed? I expect a resolution of firmware to this problem, but it seems that it is only a single firmware version for this device. If this unit has an immutable limit, can then someone propose another product, Cisco Small Business wireless which has no limit of transmission?

    Thank you...

    If the NAT - T is enabled on clients and VPN gateways, there should be no problem. Otherwise, if two IPsec clients behind WRV200 are trying to connect to the same remote gateway without NAT - T active, 2 IPsec sessions could clash between them.
