Quality problems solve-able with Final Cut Express iMovie?

I use an old iMovie HD 6 (running OS 10.6 w. Rosetta) and if I want to change the existing .mov files, they are certainly lose a lot of quality as soon as I export them. I wonder if I can stop this by the use of Final Cut Express. I tried the demo of Final Cut Pro X, but it does not work on my Mac that has just the graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 2600) original. Amazon sells the FCExpress but does not have the required configuration.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Have you tried iMovie 9.0.4, which is the latest available version that will run on Snow Leopard and requires no Rosetta?

It is part of the iLife 11 package, which is then updated using the software update...

  • Can I capture with Final Cut Pro and edit in Premiere Pro?

Because it appears first has problems with capture - at least for me, but as I see it for others as well - and I can capture with iMovie, I take it with Final Cut Pro for capture - cross for Adobe Premiere and the suite for editing, then finalized? Or is it a problem to copy the photos/files from one program to the other (they would be clearly identified if I could just import first shots later?)

    Thank you

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

When you are capturing HDV into FCP, it creates a specific Apple HDV codec. It is a codec that is not available unless the FCC, movement or compressor is installed.

Two solutions of workaround would be to use Premiere Pro on Mac with above mentioned applications on the same system or convert a codec which can be read in first.

  • Can someone help unload pictures from my VIXIA HV30 to Final Cut Express? Thanks for any help!

I have a VIXIA HV30 and impossible to find a good way to unload video. I would like to import directly into Final Cut Express on my iMac G5 Intel processor, but the program does not recognize the camera. I can land in iMovie 9.0.4, but then I apparently make the video later, which seems a bit "clunky" and is not very intuitive.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for any help.

Use a firewire cable and check to see that the camera and your Mac communicate. Use the system information.

  • Changing the file names of the photos used in the projects final cut express

HI, I have a lot of pictures that I've used in some express HD projects final cuts.

File names are not descriptive file name convention, but just standard camera. I want to add descriptive names, which will come out in the finder, but I don't want to damage the projects that I have created. I guess I could change one by one and tell the system where each file. But is there a better way? Thank you!!

If you change the names in the Finder, all clips in your projects will lose the path of the file and you will have to redo the link.

Changing names within the CTF will work OK but will not appear in the Finder, probably it will not work for you.

I suggest you set the browser to display a miniature clip of the photo, that is maybe a solution to easily identify clips.

  • Can I install QuickTime 7 Pro with Final Cut Studio 3 keys?

    Hello

I try to install QuickTime 7 Pro using my old number of Final Cut Studio 3 series/disks, and but could not find a way to do this.

FCS is not installed on my Mac (long since passed to FCP X) but sometimes I miss the QTP features. I have the original DVD set with FCS3, as well as the serial number, but want to activate the QT7 pro feature set without having to install any FCS.

Is - it possible, or I have to buy a 'new' for QTP license?

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Carry out an old project in the latest version of Final Cut...

    Hello

I just bought a new iMac in 2015 and could not load my old Final Cut Express (4.0.1) on this subject.

All files related to the project are on my new computer and have not been moved from their

    original locations.

My question is, if I bought the latest version of Final Cut, it will open the project without problem?

Thank you for reading and I hope to bring a response.

Sorry, but it does not work.

Final Cut Pro X is a totally different program of the FCE - or FCP 7 and earlier versions.  FCP 7 projects can be opened by a third party application, 7toX and then imported in FC P X...    As an experiment, I tested successfully a CTF workflow > FCP 7 > 7toX > FCP X.  but you need a functional version of the legacy of Final Cut Pro is of the order of to accomplish. That. of course, would be considered prohibitive by most of us. If continue to work on this project means a lot to you, I would try to access any Mac more former who would support the installation of the FCE.

Of course, if you have a copy of any movie that you exported from this project, you can always import the movie file into FCP X as a clip and use it in a new project. There is an evaluation of the APP version to test yourself and see if you like it.

    Good luck.

  • Editing GoPro footage in Final cut pro 7

    Hello

I shot a lot of footage recently on my new GoPro (30 p) 2704 × 1520, (.h264) and I need to convert for editing with Final Cut Pro 7, so that my system can handle it.   My question is: what is the large size of the Final Cut 7 format can manage to edit a GoPro high resolution files (or other camera such as 2.7 k, 4 k formats?)  I'll assume that I need to convert down to Apple Pro Res in 1440 x 1080? Correct size and codec?

Thank you very much for your help!

  • Are there upgrades available anywhere for app inherited from Final Cut?

Looking for update Final Cut 3 to Final Cut 4 and don't see Googling available from anywhere, any source.

    If you insist, here's why:

I inherited a bunch of old cameras, a Mac and software DVD authoring/replication store is going out of business and research in the digitization of the boxes of old VHS tapes (for most records home of movies and tv shows) by using this legacy application and devices, since I don't own or not needing a new application of Final Cut (& can't afford anyway) regularly on my new Mac. (I have first to the infrequent editing needs).

The train is an old Mac, an elder of the IoLA Firewire AJA converter - which only works with Final Cut Pro 4 according to the manual - VCR VHS and Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium with Final Cut 3.

I thought that if I could get 3 upgraded to FC4 CF, there is a good chance I could convert my dusty collection of 100 + FREE VHS tapes, just 24/7 until the race. They were in boxes of 15 years, couldn't hurt to try...

(Am open about best) free) ways to get around madness to reconstruct the old applications and computers.

4 FCP was crap. The worst version ever released.  Search... FCP 4.5 and the AJA IoLA should work with that very well.  The only place where you will find that this version is from places like eBay... places you can buy older versions of the software. I would always have the disc. I would like to send it to you for free... it's pretty old. But it's so old that I have is no longer.

  • Final Cut - use of copyright

Can I use the titles, transitions, sound effects, etc. for a video based on the market, of course make a credit on the video for "Final Cut, a software of Apple Inc." -?

The license agreement is a little vague, using words such as - 'personal use' and 'use at home. The conditions for commercial use seem a bit vague to the components of the software, but I guess I can too long as it is not on a base independent (license Ilife 2.c). There is a paragraph in the Ilife license agreement in accordance with article 1.

'Rights in and to any intellectual property displayed or available through the Apple software is the owner of respectful content' - etc.

This makes muddy things as titles, sound effects, transitions, etc. If someone has a clear answer to this, I appreciate it.

  • Future of Final Cut

A professional editor told me that, in Montreal, all the television channels who has already worked with Final Cut migrate to Adobe Premiere. He told me that the reason for this is that apple may have wanted to develop their editing software and he's already starting to be obsolete. Is this true?

WWhat version of FCP have migrated since? They are correct that Apple announced that he didn't intend to develop an obsolete 32 bit version of their software. Their version of FCP is indeed very likely obsolete.

The current version of FCP is widely regarded as the fastest now available editing software.

  • I have final cut 6.0.6 pro, I can upgrade to the latest version for free

I have a computer to work with Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 and want to update to the latest version.  I can spend for free or is there a fee for that?  I don't see anywhere in Final Cut where I update the software.

There is no path upgrade between Final Cut Pro 7 and earlier versions and FCP - x. They are completely different applications that share only the name of Final Cut Pro.

FCP - X is available for purchase through the Mac App store.

Your computer must use an operating system to download FCP - X.
