  If you want to manage a primary/standby configuration, then you want to set up with the grid of EM11g or EM12c cloud control.

  (2) can us password LOCKING of SYSMAN and DBSNMP after we set 'EM? WT happens if we lock these user accounts after EM congifured?

  If you lock the accounts, so you have a functioning EM.

  (3) if it is possible to LOCK the account without impact EM, can you help me?

  I have an original database installed using the installer regular Oracle on the default port 1521.
  Then I created the PeopleSoft database by using create database command. I aksed never of port number in this manual steps. Now, im in the process of setting up Enterprise Manager, here I need to enter the port number. IM wondering would it be same as initial database 1521... or? where can I see this information.

  I think that there is a confusion of a lot of time that you are experiencing. First of all, 1521 is not the port number of the EM (its not supposed to be) but for the listener . So don't really use you it for something else, and just for the listener, and there is a single earpiece only which should be enough for all of the databases, you have. For the initial data, the default port for the EM, is 1158. This can vary according to the configuration you have. There is a file that is created and stores all the ports used in the parties initials, portlist.ini . It would be in your ORacle home. You can see the port number used by the MS of the initial database from there. For the manual creation of the MA, Oracle will ask you the port number for the listener, not where it must run the MS. If you enter 1521 only.

• Questions about the management of specific nodes in different hierarchies

  I have a question about the specific management of some particular set nodes, which are located in different hierarchies within a same version.

  I want to know if there is any editing made to certain properties of these specific nodes or if the nodes are deleted/moved/edited approval to be triggered for the data manager.

  We have an obligation to not allow a node to remove or deleted without the approval of the admin, so I created a Boolean property AllowDelete is false, which is substitutable, default and is available only in a category of property Admin, for which most of the users do not have access.  Then, I created a validation of PropRemove with an error message that tells the user to contact a user admin to remove or delete the node.  The admin can change the AllowDelete to true, then can either remove himself or to allow the user to do.

• Questions about student discount for CS6

  I know I want to get the premium Production CS6 from B & H, but just recently that I realized that my class of media production could possibly make me eligible for a discount for students. I have a few questions about get a student discount I've ever gotten before.

  My first question is: should I still pay the rest of the full price? Or, more important still, the student version will stop working after a period of time?

  My second and more important question is about installing on more than 1 PC. I am currently on my beast of a laptop. The iMac to my school with short CS6 smooth like butter, and it's spec lower than my laptop. Despite this, I plan to get a PC in the future office of Monster for my productions and I'm confused about my rights to installation with a copy of the student. I understand very well that I can't install it on the computer of another of Kathy; only on my own computer. He mentions (for teacher I guess) you will need to purchase additional licenses for installation on other computers. This means that when I buy a new computer, I need to buy a new license as well? Or I can use the one provided in the box?

  Your license does not expire and you never have to pay the price difference. You can install the suite on one type of computer, even if you have 2 activations. A series of PC does not work on Mac and vice versa. Only 2 PC installs will work or 2 Mac ones, respectively. The activations can be managed for in applications or by giving the customer a call to reset, if you their exhausted and forgot to turn it off.

  I think that if you can't find the instructions on how to remove EM you can drop the user cleaning sysman repositiry owner then the database parameters of database associated with EM.

  I think that the starting point would be the EM (Grid Control) installation manual for your version of Oracle and platform.

  Does make sense to have enterprise manager is installed on the server of database pending?

  I'm under 11 GR 2 on 64-bit Windows Server 2008R2. I have the primary database (pprd) on a server and backup server (pprd_dr0) on another server.

  I have not (yet) implemented grid control.

  After getting my database ensures working with protection data, there is no Enterprise Manager.  I have that sqlplus to administer it.  Is it wise for me to install the Business Manager on the standby database server? If I do this, wouldn't the patterns and then be out of sync from the primary database (sysman) for example, beating so part of the goal of having the database shall be identical to the primary?

  Or do people in general NOT install EM on the standby database server?

  "Does make sense to have enterprise manager is installed on the standby database server" No. you would only install the agent on the day before in most cases.  (After you commissioning EM of course if you want)

  If you are new to Data Guard running it with SQL for awhile and get the feel of it.

  Later, you can decide if you want to use Data Guard Broker or EM.

  There is no question beast just dumb response. The recovery CD with Windows XP Professional and all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities.

  You can install it on two tracks with the help of an installation standard and expertise. If you have only a partition there is possibility to do both by using expert mode. If you have more questions please write again.

  What is a controlfile :--> its a small binary file that records the physical structure of the database.
  The control file includes:
  The name of the database
  The names and locations of the partners of the data files and redo log files
  The timestamp of the creation of the database
  The current sequence number
  Control point information

  Now, down to backup controlfile--> will have the exact backup of the controlfile used by the database (including the role of the database) Please note that this controlfile cannot serve as a controlfile standby when you try to use it it will return the error

  Backup controlfile as Eve--> will anything similar as for the previous command except for the role of database that are not primary indicator but would be pahysical Eve, all other information would be same.. like with it it will not be an exact replica of the primary database.

  It is the only difference from what I understand concepts.

• Question about Lab Manager and ESX Resource Pools

  I was wondering if I can get feedback from some of the members of the community.  We used Lab Manager very strongly in our support organizations and it has proved to be a valuable tool.  Recently, we collaborated with the Department of technical training and started hosting online seminars and classes for them using Lab Manager.  Last week we had a fairly large class of users (approx. 45), each duty deploy 2 rather Beefy VMs that were very intensive resources (Jboss, SQL, Mail to name a few).  My colleague and I went through a lot of trials and planning to ensure that our infrastructure can handle the load while allowing our users to date at the same speed and reliability, so that they are used.

  Our Lab Manager ESX server pools made up of the following:

  5 HP DL380 G5 servers with 2 x Quad Core 2.8 GHZ processors (8 cores each) with 32 GB of RAM each

  2 HP DL580 G5 servers with 4 x Quad Core 2.8 GHZ processors (16 cores each) with 128 GB of RAM each

  When the class is running and everyone has made their 2 machines, we noticed for some reason, he was all on ESX2 and 3 deployment (380 s).  Then came the ESX alarms, use of 90% of memory, then more than 100% bringing the disk page.  The CPU usage was at a all time high.

  I look at the 2 580 s and there are about 4 virtual machines deployed on them.

  So my question is...

  How does he know where to launch a Virtual Lab Manager machine?  There's no sense 2 servers have been brought to the red zone, and almost overloaded when the 2 most powerful servers in my farm are nearly dormant.  I noticed sometimes in the past, but not this bad.  Normally, we have about 45-50 computers deployed at some point and it seems to spread them out properly.

  This group of training has access to the same LUN and ESX server with Betclick as any other organization that we have.

  We have decided hosting several sessions of training may be greater than this one and would like to know that the virtual machines will be distributed properly.

  I would like to know your opinion on this

  First to answer your question, then make guess what happens.

  As indicated in response Ilya, LM distributed VMs differently with active DRS resource pools and pools of resources without active DRS.

  LM place VMs when the DRS is not used.

  When DRS is used, we use the DRS admission control to select the host to place virtual machines.

  DRS is turned off, LM uses its own placement routine:

  For each virtual machine, LM filter all managed servers that cannot run the virtual machine. A complete list of patterns are:

  • The managed server has not enough memory or quota for virtual machine to run the virtual machine.

  • The host is not connected to the data store that is the virtual machine.

  • The virtual machine has active state (suspended) and the CPU of the server managed by the waking state has been captured is not compatible with the managed server currently considered.

  • The virtual machine has been a guest on 64-bit and the managed server is not 64-bit capable.

  • The virtual machine has more processors than the managed server.

  • The managed server is not accessible or is set to "prohibit deployments." Not reachable may mean that the lm-agent or its not to ping queries is not answer (this is visible in the list of managed server page).

  Once we have the complete list of eligible servers, we place the virtual machines on the host including the smallest (MemoryReservation % + CPUReservation %). By default, we reserve not CPU on LM VMs, this internship will be largely due to the memory on the host computers if you have not changed the settings of reservation of CPU on your virtual machines.

  For closed deploy to the PF3, force us all virtual machines to go on the same host, so if any virtual machines have any special data store / CPU type specification, all virtual machines is forced to go on this host. If there are conflicting requirements between different virtual machines in the same configuration, deployment will fail. Closed VMs also have another condition to check that is rarely achieved in practice: number of closed networks available on the managed server. By default, this is 20 and you will need more than 20 different configurations closed running on a managed server before you who will strike.  (LM4 allows Cross fencing host, so this does not apply in LM4).

  To make a guess blind because of your distribution problem - if you use the saved state and fencing, it's probably the type of processor.  Processor type can be checked on the host properties page.

  If you not are not I would check that the images can deploy on the 580 s by disabling the 380s and trying to deploy them.

  If you use DRS (which you're not), it could be due to deployment of virtual machines too fast for the algorithm of control for the entrance of VC.  An easy solution for this is to extinguish the DRS on the cluster manager of laboratory.

  We tested load internal repeatedly, the product QA in different laboratories, we run (LM has been used in VMworld Labs for the past couple years and internal systems of training and demonstration for our Organization implemented SE), so no need to worry about this.  I assure you that the first 'real' performance problem you will encounter will be almost certainly due to an overload of your storage array (too many IOPS / s)... and for that you have to distribute content in data warehouses and use techniques of creating paths to balance the load.

  you messed up your repository...

  T1) "expired" means that the repository contain a version more recent file you have tried to access your room.
  Solution: before you check in your file, you must do an update of the repository. In the process of updating your files, sometimes destruction, conflict, additions and automatic mergers. There is nothing you can do about it. You are allowed to check in your changes if your version of a file is identical to the version in the repository. If you see a conflict you must merge the files manually (jdev will help with that).

  Q2) you cannot delete files in the incoming changes tab. You automatically get these files the next time that you update the project. See answer to q1.

  To clear the thing a bit, you must remove the thumb.db in the repository: open the browser of Version, open the connect to your storage space, open the project that you are working (for example the trunk) and you should see the folders and files, as in Solution Explorer. Locate the file you want to delete, select it and press "del". Now you should get a dialog box where you can enter a message why you deleted the file. Click OK (or commit?). Now the next time that you update the project in jdev file will be deleted from your working copy too.

  Then, you must configure your jdev so that these files are not placed in the repository in the first place. To do this, you add a template to the list of global exclusions (Tools-preferences-global ignore list). If you want to ignore a specific file (which is currently not in your repositiry) you can select in your project add to .svnignore. To do this right click on the file, select version management and click on 'add to svn:.svnignore '.

  Tips: before you start to clean your repository you make a backup copy of your repository and working copy projects on your pc. It is sometimes easier to remove the project from the repository and check it in once you have set up all the PCs to work with the repository in a way you like. If you go this way, you must configure the project from scratch, which means you need to remove all .svn project folders, make shure you have a version of the project which has all the changes of your colleges. This serves you again master. Once you have tested this new master you can put it again under source code control. Then all colleges check it out from the repository (which they need to delete the old folder before that). Be aware of the fact that the project loses its history in doing so. So there is no way, you can revert to a previous version.
  You need to implement some sort of rule that e.g. every day before starting work to do a "copy of the update work". This reduces the number of conflicts that you get when you check in your changes. IT should not influence your work, you need to do the update working copy before checking in your changes (if you get a stale).
