Question about KM options

We are developing standards for a new implementation of ODI 12 c, to replace the former ETL and one of our developers strives encapsulate a lot of code in the module of knowledge to keep the designs of simpler mapping for developers by adding lots of Options that change the execution in the Module of knowledge, according to which options are selected.  Some of them include text strings that also pass in as parameters.

My thoughts are that it will involve changes to the Module knowledge in the future, if its of bugs or having to extend the functionality of the Knowledge Module, will require all scenarios that use it to be regenerated.  Is this a valid hypothesis?  In addition, in my mind, it's obscuring the design, even if its intention is to make it easier.

Use options like this to run the conditional code in the Module knowledge a good way to develop reusable or not?

Hi Darren

Customization of KM is happening in almost all of the project, unless the customer is opposite.

[Darren] Instead of using some of the Visual components, for example, an aggregator for a max value, they try to automatically generate this km based on an option.

[NK] In fact, up to ODI 11 g, we did not have the components of Visual transformation in ODI, aggregation (or any function level column) has been implemented by mention in the map and the KM used to create the query accordingly (e.g. group area was added to the list of all the other columns). I think that this approach still works in ODI 12 c.

If you decide to go forward with the customization, you can check which is the team:

  • don't re - implement what is already available in odi
  • following the standards of odi
  • documents every change
  • documents the results of test
  • following the appropriate change management (whenever people should not change want without informing other people and without updating the documentations)

For all the benefits which provides customization, a major drawback is:

ODI can provide again updated with each update per kilometre. During the migration to a higher version of ODI (or database), you will miss out on these improvements unless you customize the new KMs again.

    Hello!
I have a P100-257 and have installed BIOS 3.8 and find option "Execute Disable Bit" which is disabled. That means this option means years should it be activated?
    Thank you!

    Hello

'Execute Disable Bit' or 'NX' (NoExecute) Bit is a security option to prevent hackers invade with their malicious software on your computer. Don t think it s an option anti-hacker (this luckily what I told :)). It s just a security option that gives you a few percent more security on your computer.

  • Question about the options of OS W7P/XPP

    Hello

I buy a laptop 8440w "open box" and it is listed with Win7 Pro / XP Pro for the operating system. It is my understanding that XP Pro is pre-installed on it. Laptops that come with the downgrading to XP Pro also come with Win 7 Pro media? The media Win 7 Pro x 64 is available? I will install 8 GB of RAM so I'll have the 64-bit Windows 7 to use it.

    Thank you.

    Hello:

Normally, you will get an OS disk for each operating system under license. So, if it comes with XP Pro, but has a license Windows 7 COA should come also with W7 Pro 32 bit, 64 bit OS DVD and a DVD driver and application.

Since it is the box open, if for some reason, there is no media, you can contact HP and order a set of recovery disks that will be the two W7 (32 and 64 bit OS).  It may or may not be a small charge for postage and handling. In the USA for business laptop recovery disks there is an extra $ 10.

  • Question about the recovery partition

    Hello.

I have a question about the recovery of HARD drive partition.

If I do the operation to clear the hard disk option in the wizard it will remove * all * or it will keep my partition recovery in this way I can come back later. I want to know because I would like to put on a different OS.

I know he said he would, but caution in the PDF, I found it says that on a normal recovery too (that he would remove each partition) and I'm a little confused about how the recovery actually worked.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly with this option to erase.

In General, Toshiba Recovery disk will wipe your entire HDD to restore factory settings correctly. This means that if you start from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen, everything will be removed.

In addition, the recovery disk doesn t create a recovery partition. It is not available. Disk copy just the files on the second partition in folder HDDrecovery to start an installation of HARD drive recovery.

  • Questions about Stor.e TV +.

Does anyone have a contact point to raise a complaint about the lack of service from Toshiba? I spent £160 on a TV + Stor.e and did have some problems with it, as you can see from the few posts that I raised. After spending £160 on a point I don't understand why if the forum is the only option to support what he is no Toshiba engineers on this issue, who are able to answer my questions. I do not expect a 24 / 7 hotline for £160 I spent, but it would be good to know that a Toshiba engineer could answer my questions about their products. Especially since it's the second one I had which suffers from a cosmetic defect, I had to stick to feet about it as the Unit came with 4 pads ride around the box. I also have my doubts about the HDMI because it seems to be very sensitive to any movement in the area, causing the connection to remove.

I got a Western Digital box media for more than five years and had no problem with this, the only reason why I changed, it was to make use of the connection to the local network, the HDMI connection and the fact it supported more than file formats. FSR this device was abit of a disappointment for me. So if someone could point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.

    Hello

I can understand that you are not happy with the current situation and usually if you buy a product it should properly expect and do no problem.

As you probably already seen here it s a user to only user forum. This means that you can speak with normal people like you and me and there is no official support from Toshiba.

In your case, it would be best if you contact an authorized service provider or call the Toshiba UK. The phone number, you can find on the site of Toshiba UK Web:
    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

Just give the guy a call and explain your situation. I'm sure they can give you a detailed answer and if your TV Stor.e + must be repaired or not. When warranty hardware repair is free.

I hope I could help you a little bit :)

  • A few questions about Toshiab reocvery disk for Satellite P300-133

    Hello guys,.
I had a few questions about unpleasant surprises of recovery:

(* 1) * I just make recovery DVD using Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator and he asked initially for 2 DVDs - but when one has been done it does not require a second blank DVD. Is it possible all the Windows Vista system files to write on 1 DVD?

(* 2) * if I could reinstall Windows Vista using recovery of HARD drive option (by pressing F8) without using the recovery DVD?

(* 3) * HARD drive partitions that will be formatted (just system C: or C: and E :) using HARD drive recovery?

(* 4) * what is DVD - Image of the hard drives or the installation of Vista recovery files?

Its pretty bad idea to not include BONES on DVD when I paid for it.
Thanks for all the Toshiba problems :(

    1. I think the recovery disk creator means 2 CDs. I also have a Portege M700 with Windows Vista and a DVD. I got it and after that, I have a clean install of Vista with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba. Nothing is missing.

    2. Yes, you can reinstall Vista using recovery of HARD drive option when you press F8 at startup. You don't need the recovery DVDs, but you should create a when your HARD drive get some errors or something else. If you need a new recovery DVDs, you paid for one.

3 HARD drive and complete partitions will be formatted, so backup your data first on a DVD disk external DRIVE, USB stick or something else.
After the reinstallation, you have factory settings.

    4. the recovery DVDs is an image of the HARD disk on the factory settings. If you perform a recovery, there are all the drivers and tools are already installed. Of course, on the disk are files of installations of Vista, but you can use this DVD on your Satellite P300. The disc cannot be used on another Satellite or on a PC.

If you have any other questions, take a look in the user manual. There are a number in the formations of the recovery. It s in Chapter 3.

  • Questions about Satellite P10 554

    Hello

I have 2 questions about my P10-554. I read on this forum but can't find anything that helps out me.

    First of all:
When I try to turn the unit off after working, using even the closing of xp function or the power button, windows normally quit, but when it needs to turn off just reboot again. If I repeat the closing down directly after this restart, normally it turns off.
This problem occur only when I use the power supply in battery mode.
I can't say that to me...

    Second:
I have a mini PCI Wlan card for my unit, works very well, but I wonder if it is possible to get the Wlan switch switch work whith it? Or is it only possible whith some special maps? It is not so important, but it would be nice to know if there is a trick or something to get the switch used.

    Best regards
    Gabbagandalf

    Hello

    Regarding your first question;
I'm a bit confused of m are sure you n t use the restart option?
I never noticed anything like that on my laptop

Usually, if I use the Shut down option, I can choose between standby, hibernation, restart and shutdown. If I use the stop that the laptop turns off as it should.
Maybe it's time to s for a reinstallation of the OS?

    On the second question.
The switch on the left side for laptop was designed and developed to pass on the WLan card antenna.
Usually, you should be able to use this switch and to toggle WLan card functionality

Don t understand why it should not work?  :|

  • Ask questions about the functionality of EA8500 MU-MIMO

    Dear Linksys

I bought EA8500, and it arrived today.

I have two questions about the functionality of MU-MIMO of EA8500 AP.

    1. I want to compare the performance between SU-MIMO and MU-MIMO, but there is no option to control this feature in the router admin page. Is that one of the possible ways?

2 EA8500 supports 1733 Mbps wireless speed, but it resembles the speed of 1 Gbps ethernet cable.

This router supports really speed 1 Gbps ethernet? or y at - it an option to support more throughput as the aggregation of links?

    Thank you

Hi, hyeonu. For your first query, it is not possible because there is no option to disable the feature of MU-MIMO on your Linksys EA8500 router. In addition, with regard to your second, you can get a higher throughput of 1 Gbps since this is the maximum capacity of your ethernet connection.

  • Question about the issue of the Double NAT...

Hah I posted for a little.  I have a question about Double NAT.  Is it wise to launch?  Reason why is that I have a WRT54G v6 router and the Zoom ADSL X 4 Modem/Router/gateway and it seems that sites take just a little more time to respond to Web sites.  I just want to know I have to turn off (i.e., go in with my router bridge Mode) or what.  Or leave it alone.  Now one last thing: that the problem of slow could actually be AT & T but I have the feeling that this isn't.

What configuration options you have on the Zyxel to fill? What have you tried exactly?

The basis for the first option is:

    * Bridged Zyxel.

    * Linksys configured for PPPoE with your user name and password for the internet connection.

Instructions to fill the Zyxel are here or here depending on the exact model of Zyxel.

    The second option is:

    * Zyxel doing business as the router. I assume here that the Zyxel is on 10.0.0.2 with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

Unplug the Linksys to the Zyxel. Connect a computer to the Linksys. Open the web interface of the WRT to http://192.168.1.1/

    On the main Setup page:

    1. change the LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 address 10.0.0.1.

    2 disable the DHCP server.

    3. save the settings. You will lose the connection. Unplug the computer.

    4. wire one of the numbered LAN ports of the Linksys for the Zyxel. Do not use the internet port of Linksys!

Now you should be able to open the Linksys web interface to http://10.0.0.1/ all devices connected wireless of Linksys or connected to one of the three LAN ports must have a connection to the internet via the Zyxel.

  • Question of DHCP Option 50

I understand that the DHCP 50 option is for the customer asked the IP address.

I have 3 questions about this...

    1. the DHCP server on the router maintains the MAC--> IP mapping during 24 hours right?

What happens if I ask a non assigned a different IP address in the 24 hour window? My request will be granted each time?

What happens if I ask for an IP address not assigned different after the 24 hour window? I guess that my request will be granted every time in this case.

    2. always in the window of 24 hours, if the requested IP address is leased to another network device, but the device has long been disconnected,

I get the requested IP address?

2 do all versions of routers support this option?

Depends on the implementation of the DHCP server. The RFC does not say how to handle 50 option. The DHCP server can but should not affect the requested IP address. It can completely ignore this option.

    So:

How long the server retains the mapping? Depends on the server. It may or may not remove the mapping after the lease has expired (which I assume is the 24 hours, that you reference).

Ask a different IP address during the valid lease? Depends on the server. The server may grant each time. Another server can refuse each time.

I think it is more common to not to grant the request. Internally the DHCP server manages static IP mappings and pool all the same except the static IP mapping has an unlimited lease duration. As long as a request from a computer comes that already has a mapping (static or pool) he always attributes known IP address and the other does not.

After the expiry of the lease? Depends on the server. A DHCP server keep the maps even after the expiry of the lease. The simple purpose of this is that if you have a fairly large pool that gets not exhausted you basically assignments to static IP addresses to DHCP clients. Even if a client releases the lease (because the computer is stopped) or the lease expires, he will always keep this information. Next time (for example, you turn on the computer after the weekend) it will always go to the same IP. But again, it is up to the implementation of the server. Other servers follow other policies and do differently.

Address IP lease request? N ° never. The DHCP server must not assign an IP address that has been rented elsewhere. There is no reliable way to make sure that the DHCP server as other devices is indeed off. If a unit is stopped, it must release the DHCP lease. If it is not the case, the IP address is blocked until the lease expired. The only case that a transfer could occur is if the DHCP server has been reset and lost its DHCP lease table. In this case, the DHCP server does not know before granted leases.

Supported? All DHCP servers must be able to receive DHCP requests include this option. It is the implementation of the DHCP server if the DHCP option is really accepted or not. Some servers may completely ignore this option.

It's true, but game store will not need this option checked - loading of a file manager will - but which is not say that the application will work once installed
